  • It seems that despite starting out equipped with a club, Yangus' best weapon class is axes. What weapon was he shown wielding when Hero and Trode met him? An axe.
    • The axe Yangus has was lost when he rescued by The Hero after the bridge collapsed. If you wander around the bottom of the gorge, you find a chest with his old axe in it.
  • During Marcello's ascension to the Lord High Priest, he gives a speech talking about the unfairness of birthrights, the useless nobility who trod upon others, etc... then he gets to speaking about "a Goddess who does nothing", and the player realises that the death of Abbot Francisco, after he'd expressed confidence that the Goddess would save him, just may have hit him harder than it appears. May also count as Hidden Depths.
  • The Hero's immunity to curses, at least once you start to realise how it affects gameplay.
    • By extension, Hero's immunity doesn't protect him against the Dragovian Seal used by the Lord of the Dragovians, because he was the one who granted the Hero immunity to curses in the first place.
  • The guards of the underground Purgatory Island, in a world where almost everyone has a British accent, have Australian accents.
  • The subtitle. Trode might be a cursed king, but he's not the only one.
  • The high difficulty level of Memories Lane works from a story and gameplay perspective. It makes sense that all of the Memoriam bosses are hard to defeat because it's how the party remembers them. In addition, the dungeon serves to challenge the player further since they're good enough to easily take down the Dragovian Lord's various forms.
    • Sir Leopold in Memoriam's weakness to poison makes sense once you remember that Dominico accused David of poisoning Sir Leopold earlier in the game.
  • Though it may seem questionable that several story mode bosses are absentnote , their absences can be explained:
    • Khalamari's skillset doesn't really test the party so he's out whereas Geyzer's curse forces you to adapt to using Hero due to it affecting the other party members. Tortured Soul is an early Flunky Boss and Trap Box has status effects, allowing each boss to test various skills of the party before moving onto harder fights.
    • Empyrea has no special gimmick whereas Captain Crow's tension gimmick tests your ability to counter his tension, whereas Gemon is a Flunky Boss whose deficiencies are covered by it's henchmen, testing the party's might against opponents who can force them to miss their turn.
    • The Hero statues are interesting in concept but they're an ensemble of glass cannons who lack a proper unified offense, and the Megalodons don't have much in the way of unique gimmicks. In contrast, Ruin is a Breather Boss with a limited moveset yet it's defence allows it to function as a Stone Wall, allowing it to test the party's might. Servant of Darkness tests the party to see if they have the means to quickly kill off the Dancing Flames in Memoriam before they buff their master's Attack with Oomph.
    • As for Rhapthorne himself, the training ground was designed to strengthen you against his final form, and he hasn't died yet in-universe, hence why he isn't fought there either. As such, the final tests before Estark himself have both of Dhoulmagus's forms which test the party's ability to get rid of multiple opponents quickly and being able to endure powerful attacks while fighting back in kind respectively.
  • Estark's appearance in Memories Lane as the final opponent actually has a good reason. Aside from being a regular superboss in the series, he also fits the "memories" theme of Memories Lane because doesn't actually remember anything about his past in contrast to a dungeon filled with Living Memory versions of various bosses designed to test the party.
Fridge Horror
  • Prince Charmles is the Hero's cousin! They are actually related by blood!!! AAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!
  • It's a good thing that the game didn't allow The Hero to pick up the sceptre containing Rhapthorne otherwise the world would be dealing with a very powerful threat.
  • How did Estark make it to Memories Lane? Was he an enemy of the Dragovians who had to be sealed away aeons ago and what would happen if he escaped?
