The Seduction is a 1982 American thriller film written and directed by David Schmoeller, and starring Morgan Fairchild, Michael Sarrazin, and Andrew Stevens. The original music score was composed by Lalo Schifrin.
Its plot follows Jamie Douglas (Fairchild), a beautiful Los Angeles news anchor who is aggressively pursued by an obsessive stalker, Derek (Stevens).
This film features examples of:
- Bathtub Scene: Jamie gets a bathtub scene. It's definitely played for Fanservice, although it's also Fan Disservice since it's one of the instances in which Derek is peeping on her.
- Big Damn Heroes: Derek is ultimately stopped when he is shot dead by Julie, who stumbles in on the scene.
- The Loins Sleep Tonight: Derek eventually breaks into Jamie's house and attempts to rape her, but ultimately admits that he is impotent.
- Modesty Bedsheet: Double Subversion. Jamie Sleeps in the Nude and she's shown taking off her robe and going to bed. We see her naked. But she immediately gets into bed and under the covers.
- The Peeping Tom: As part of his stalking of Jamie, Derek breaks into Jamie's house and watches her from her bedroom closet.
- Police Are Useless: Jamie visits Maxwell, a police officer friend, seeking advice regarding Derek's stalking, but Maxwell tells Jamie that she has few options, as he claims that (at that point) Derek has technically not committed any crimes.
- Script Swap: At one point, Jamie's stalker gets into her newsroom and replaces her teleprompter feed. She starts to read it in her bland newswoman's voice until she realizes what she's saying.Jamie: "Jamie, I'm watching you…" [breaks down on live TV] He's gonna kill me… Please help me… Please!
- Shameless Fanservice Girl: Jamie swims naked and Sleeps in the Nude.
- Skinny Dipping: In a couple of scenes, Jamie's shown swimming naked.
- Sleeps in the Nude: Jamie sleeps in the nude, as she's shown taking off her robe and going to bed, but when she gets into bed she immediately gets under a Modesty Bedsheet.
- Stalker with a Crush: The film centers on a female newscaster who becomes the obsession of a creepy and increasingly dangerous male loner.
