Go To

A Worm/Rise of the Guardians Crossover by QAI521, the author of Viceroy, in which Taylor gains the power of Pitch Black.

Taylor Hebert died in the locker. But instead of staying dead she rose again, now armed with the power to crush the gangs and those that wronged her. Don't worry though, there's nothing left to fear but fear herself.

Can be found on FF.Net, Spacebattles and Sufficient Velocity.

After a three year hiatus, the author officially canceled the fic, leaving behind information of how it would have ended.

  • Adults Are Useless: Taylor feels this way after Legend shows up to take down a rampaging Lung after he second triggers, asking herself why, if it was that easy, why there aren't more examples of the Triumvirate taking down dangerous villains instead of letting them run freely.
  • A God Am I: The Simurgh views herself as a goddess, and plans to betray Scion, helping to kill him before he destroys her and rule humanity as a goddess.
  • Anti-Hero: Boogeyman isn't afraid to kill her foes, for one thing. Velocity even compares her to pre-Wards Shadow Stalker.
  • And I Must Scream: She drops Alabaster down a dark shaft in the middle of an abandoned ship and left him at the bottom wrapped in chains drowning forever.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Taylor convinces Glory Girl to help her by giving her some worries about what could happen to a Squishy Wizard like Amy.
  • Crossover: Between Worm and Rise of the Guardians.
  • Discard and Draw: The main result of Lung's second trigger is that it turns his Healing Factor up to eleven at the cost of some of his speed when ramping up.
  • The Dreaded: Boogeyman terrifies people, let's just say that.
  • Driven to Suicide:
    • Drowning His Sorrows after Taylor disappeared, and depressed, Danny went on a drive and purposefully didn't come back.
    • Before that, when Taylor realized her new state, she was originally content to fade away to nothingness.
    • After Boogeyman is done with Sophia, she has to be sedated because she was going for a knife.
    • Madison tries to take her own life with a pistol Taylor/Boogeyman provided after she forced her to help expose Sophia, but it only had another message to torment her. She triggers as a result.
  • Emotion Eater: Taylor gains strength from the fear of others.
  • Horrifying Hero: Boogeyman, who terrifies the shit out of pretty much everyone. Considering the fact that she's an Emotion Eater...
  • Humanoid Abomination: Taylor doesn't register as human to Night for one thing, and absorbed Pitch without knowing it.
  • Humiliation Conga: Taylor/Boogeyman delivers an epic one to Sophia for eight hours, physically and mentally tearing her down and ripping away her masks, recording the whole thing and revealing her actions to the world.
  • I Know What You Fear: Taylor, like Pitch, has this power, and uses it to great effect. She pushes too far with Lung and his fear of Contessa though when she's trying to kill him, inadvertently pushing him to a second trigger.
  • Invisible to Normals: Only people who believe in her can see Boogeyman.
    • Boogeyman can also see Aisha after her trigger, even when her power is on.
  • Morality Pet: Apparently Sophia's younger brother Thomas is someone she actually cares about.
  • Poke in the Third Eye: Some Thinker powers don't work on Boogeyman. Other Thinker powers do work, until they reveal too much and ominously malfunction.
  • Power Incontinence: Aisha initially has trouble controlling her power, the panic caused by realizing that no one can see her not helping. Once Taylor (who can see her even when her power is active) comforts her and calms her down, she gains more control.
  • Power Parasite: An interlude reveals that when Taylor triggered, something caused a magical void that sucked Pitch and his forces into her when Mit M stopped his escape his prison, and some part of him seems to remain.
  • Tempting Fate: When Legend shows up in the Bay and announces that he's staying to stop Boogeyman, Aisha says that at least things can't get worse. Taylor and Vicky both glare and her, and even Pitch reacts. The chapter then ends with the Simurgh descending on the Bay.
  • Terror Hero: Boogeyman's whole schtick is scaring her foes, and does this to great effect.
  • That Man Is Dead: After visiting her father's grave, Taylor decides that that part of her is gone for good, and that only Boogeyman remains. Victoria argues otherwise. This also means that, since she has no emotional ties left, she doesn't have to worry about people targeting her loved ones for her actions...
  • The Starscream: The Simurgh turns out to have tried to set Taylor up to be Skitter and kill Scion so she could rule humanity.
    • Bakuda to Lung.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: It seems that Taylor/Boogeyman's attempts to actually make a change in the city, combined with the fact that a Ward was the one responsible for her trigger, seems to have given her a little bit of public support, though the only sign of this so far is the reactions to Legend at a press conference where he decries her actions.
  • Was It Really Worth It?: Miss Militia asks Boogeyman if everything she did to Sophia was worth it. Boogeyman definitely thinks it was.
‘Yes,’ Taylor said, breaking Miss Militia away from her realization. The capes voice was as cold as the arctic winds as she stared down the heroine, her hands clenched into fists. ‘It was worth it. Sophia, she took everything from me. My friend, my family, my life, she is responsible for all of it. She took away what was most precious to me, so I did the same to her,’ Boogeyman snarled, her expression one of rage and hatred. ‘I took away from her what she valued most all, her strength.’
