Taylor Hebert has only ever wished to be one thing, but in Night City it is harder to accept your own weakness than to prove yourself strong enough to die.

Strong Enough is a Worm & Cyberpunk: Edgerunners crossover fanfiction written by Argentorum on Archive Of Our Own and Spacebattles.com.

Strong Enough provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Job Change: In canon, Annette is a college professor. Here, she's Arasaka's secret project researcher that's responsible for the new Sandevistan prototype.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: Instead of bug control, Taylor chromed up with the Sandevistan, granting her Super-Speed.
  • Bavarian Fire Drill: Taylor pretends to be Arasaka's Counter-Intelligence Agent, which is commonly recognized by their Stealth Hi/Bye (which the Sandevistan can assist with) and their Red Eyes, Take Warning, to give Sasha more time to hack, which Taylor perfectly emulates by mimicking the Arasaka representative that interviews her at the academy.
  • Contrasting Replacement Character: Compared to David Martinez's brash and energetic personality, Taylor Herbert is calm and measured, with her rage being more tranquil.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Taylor. This is her defense mechanism against her bullies, but is especially biting towards Emma.
  • Death Seeker: During her vendetta against her mother's killers, Taylor internally admits to not caring if she dies for her efforts or not.
  • Determinator: It's not Taylor if she's not this. Justified since her mother taught her to be one.
Annette: One day, they’ll see you, even if you have to tear the acknowledgment from their lips with your own two hands.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: In canon, Annette died in an unspecified car crash. Here, she was caught in a gang's crossfire on a highway.
  • Disabled in the Adaptation: Zigzagged. The story begins with Taylor still wearing glasses, then she got a second-hand Ocular System later on. Then, the gang attack paralyzes Taylor's legs, but she managed to walk again after she gets the Sandevistan attached to her.
  • Exact Words: Taylor managed to trick an Arasaka representative that asked her if her mother have an illegal chrome in her possession by making him assume that said chrome is Taylor's Ocular System, which she bought second-hand instead of getting it brand new from Arasaka's line of product.
  • Huge Schoolgirl: Like canon, Taylor is referenced to be quite tall. Rebecca's introduction to her was as a woman who had "legs for days" before realizing how younger she was.
  • Humble Parent, Spoiled Kids: Emma is certainly a spoiled corpo brat, while her father is a kind, if busy, Suit who let Taylor move in with Emma after her mother's passing.
  • Nerves of Steel: While under pressure (and thanks to the Sandevistan), Taylor is able to come up with plans on the spot with little to no panicking.
  • Not the Intended Use: Taylor more often uses the Sandevistan to hasten her thought to give her time for planning Xanatos Speed Chess while standing/sitting still.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Taylor specifically picks red-colored optics to spite Emma. This causes Rebecca to nickname her "Scarlet."
  • Sheltered Aristocrat: Emma being aghast that Taylor carries a gun with her makes her this, considering that they live in Night City.
  • Snark-to-Snark Combat: Taylor and Emma engage with each other with this.
  • The Stoic: Compared to Maine's crew, especially the gregarious Rebecca and affable Sasha, Taylor outwardly doesn't emote much. It's more noticeable through the interlude from Rebecca's perspective.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Annette's lab coat, which Taylor wears as she goes Solo work.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Taylor and Emma used to be best friends until the former's father passed. Since then, Emma relentlessly bullies her on a daily basis.
  • You Killed My Father: Taylor starts her Edgerunning career to find the specific gang members responsible for her mother's death.
