Fanfic / Married In The Quarter Quell

Go To

Married in the Quarter Quell is a The Hunger Games fanfic that deals with what might have happened if Katniss wasn't lying when Peeta said she was pregnant in Catching Fire.

Tropes appearing in this fanfic:

  • Dead Guy Junior: Finnick and Annie's son is named Magnus, in honor of his mentor Mags.
  • Doomed by Canon: Mags, Cinna, Katniss' squad (with the exception of Finnick, Gale and Peeta), Prim, Snow and Coin.
  • Made of Iron: Willow, given that she is subjected to a lot of physical stress while Katniss is pregnant with her and proves to be quite healthy despite being delivered premature. Contrast with Finnick and Annie's son Magnus, who was also born premature and had quite a few health problems.
  • Oh, Crap!: Katniss when she starts throwing up due to Morning Sickness.
  • Original Character: Willow Mellark, Katniss and Peeta's daughter.
  • Papa Wolf: The main thing that can counteract the hijacking in Peeta is if Katniss or their daughter Willow are in danger, as shown when Katniss has severe problems when she goes into labor.
  • Recurring Element: Female tributes tend to give birth to premature infants, as Katniss and Annie find out the hard way.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Willow becomes one for Buttercup. Peeta speculates that Buttercup's still alive because he found someone to live for.
  • Spared by the Adaptation:
    • Finnick is still alive after Mockingjay. His survival is notable due to the fact that most other deaths in the books/films are kept as is.
    • Peeta's older brother Taf doesn't die in the bombing of District 12.
  • The Stations of the Canon: The author does their best to cleave as closely as possible to the original series, more to the films than the books. The 75th Hunger Games in particular is mostly unaltered.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Katniss' ring for Peeta, which enabled him to hold onto his memories of Willow.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Johanna when she learns that Katniss wanted to die in the arena.
