Anders Thomas Jensen (born 6 April 1972) is a Danish film director and (quite prolific) screenwriter. His breakthrough work was the short film Election Night, which netted the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 1998.
His Signature Style are dense Black Comedies, with heavily elements of both Bathos and Drama, about people living on the fringes of mainstream society. His protagonists tend to be severely flawed human beings, often with more than one extremely ugly side to their personality, but they often somehow manage to be sympathetic and even sometimes even endearing characters in spite of this.
As a screenwriter, Jensen has also had his hand in many purely dramatic productions, being a frequent co-writer on many of director Susanne Bier's films.
