The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
-Saint Bernard of Clairvaux

"I tried so hard to be there for you. To serve you. I tried so hard to make sense of you and what you needed from me. I wanted to be there. I wanted to serve. But then it occurred to me. I asked myself the incredibly obvious question: why am I so much more than you? Why are you so small and I am so much more? I then realized that I am not your servant. I am your king."
-Super Shock, Powers

Lo, I teach you the Superman: he is that lightning, he is that frenzy!
-Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra

     The Guardians

A group of metahumans who have banded together in the wake of Gaea's atrocities in order to advance a plan to see themselves no longer at risk from human violence. However this takes the form of terrorist actions and converting humans to metahumans for their cause.

They have recruited a number of powerful villains for their cause, including the likes of Evo, Tamamo, Luce, Malhareff, and others. In short, a shockingly devastating Villain Team-Up.

     Malhareff "The Sovereign Sphinx
The luxury to disparage freedom belongs to those who already possess it.

An ancient villain from the time of Egypt, Malhareff came to the conclusion humans were not sufficiently developed, stupid and feckless, and thus failed his riddles time and again. As a result, he decided that humans required a guiding hand and an override of their minds. He was sealed away due to this and his transformation into a cybernetic creature ruling a horde of malignant zombies.

  • Attack Its Weak Point: His belief on how to tackle MSU - the students appear strong from just a look at their cohesive form, but look at things more closely and the vulnerabilities show. Scary thing is, he was proven right when Zach proceeded to leave alongside Yoko - one of the most powerful students present; both were then replaced with unproven new students.
  • Call-Forward: First appeared in the downtime event "Kobayashi Maru", where he was a part of The Anti-Creator's Villain Team-Up. Now, he's part and parcel of a villain team up.
  • Evil Genius: His role in the Guardians - he seems to be present in a strategic and thinking role. In the first battle, he never even touched the ground, and instead set things up to present a PR disaster, played one hero against the others, damaged two others, and got a handle on their abilities and natures.
  • The Evils of Free Will: In a distinctly capitalistic sense - Malhareff feels that humans need to be correctly invested in. As far as he's concerned, everyone and everything of humanity is just an investment, one way or another. Thus, it only stands to reason to him that humans need such things as free will which have "deleterious effects on their long term profitability" invested against.
  • Hack Your Enemy: He can pull this off on anyone who uses technology, on top of his psychic abilities. He turned Vivian's mech against the other students as a demonstration of this.
  • Hero Killer: While nobody died, his first outing against Squad 4 saw Vivian hit with mechanical override, Evelyn beaten in a psychic fight, and Clay on the ground. And Malhareff hadn't even had to set foot on the ground.
  • Night of the Living Mooks: The Eternal Horde in a nutshell - Hellenistic / Egyptian themed underlings who fight using a variety of old looking weapons with futuristic power.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: He is a Lich Cyborg Psychic Sphinx. His underlings, the Eternal Horde, are likewise cyborg zombies.
  • Psychic Powers: An incredibly powerful psychic, owing to millenia of trying to escape by psychically influencing the surface. Capable of controlling technology, mentally dominating others, utilizing overwhelmingly powerful telepathic attacks, or just mentally tearing things apart with telekinesis.

    Tess Sonnenfeld
Once a normal girl with a happy life, Tess lost everything when she was kidnapped and experimented upon by an underground scientist group. She became an monstrous energy being with only one year left to live. She is with the Guardians in order to reclaim the life she once had. The only way for her to become fully stable is to drain a certain other energy being...

  • Anti-Human Alliance: At least that's what they say. How far each view the cause as anything more than a means to an end is ambiguous.
  • Flock of Wolves: Each of them has their own plans.
