Awesome / Pokemon Battle Royale

Go To

While full of the same trademark Rapid-Fire Comedy that made Something About famous, just like its sister series, the Pokémon Battle Royales are plenty full of genuinely awesome moments.

Pokemon Battle Royale

  • Machamp ends up being one heck of a powerhouse in the battle, easily punching out the opposition in droves, and taking out the seemingly invincible Tyranitar via Ring Out.
  • The winner of the battle royale, after some island wrecking mayhem from some of the series' absurdly powerful 'Mons... is Magikarp. Yep. Turns out being able to leap over mountains is a lot more useful than it sounds, letting it jump out of danger and crush the last remaining opponent. Sure, Ditto ends up stealing that win anyway by copying its trick, but props have to be given for the Trope namer of Magikarp Power for managing to score second place against its more powerful peers.

Legendary & Mythical Pokémon Battle Royale

  • Necrozuma definitely stands when it shows up and takes out all the remaining Pokémon in the battle.
    • First by killing and absorbing the energy of Victini to empower itself, and then killing Yveltal, which ends up killing all of the remaining planet-bound Pokémon because of Yeveltal's ability to absorb all life when it dies.
    • It then goes on to kill and absorb both Lunala and Solgaleo, allowing it to transform into its Ultra form.
    • At that point, it notices Arceus and decides to challenge the Pokémon God, absorbing the entire Sun before going on to take out both Dialga and Palkia, which throws the space-time continuum out of whack and causes reality to become unstable and split into two timelines. One in which Necrozuma manages to kill and absorb Arceus, and another where Arceus defeats Necrozuma and erases it from existence with a snap.

Baby Pokémon Battle Royale

  • Riolu spends a good portion of the fight in meditation, and when provoked, it shows why having no stated weaknesses or flaws in its dex entry is such a big deal. It dodges Elekid's lightning, pummels it with help from Tyrogue, and wipes both it and Magby out with a Kamehameha. It jumps over the blast from Cleffa's meteor-like impact, and when the latter crawls out of the crater, Riolu immediately punches it through a mountain. And when Wynaut puts up a fight by repeatedly countering its blows, Riolu's Aura only builds more and more until it forms a Giga Drill Break too powerful to tank and hit back, claiming victory in epic fashion for such a cute critter. Granted, in the actual episode the baby Pokémon were just play fighting and the onscreen battle was their imagination, but it's not a stretch to say the result would be the same if they fought for real.

Mega Pokémon Battle Royale

  • The confrontation between Mega Mewtwo and Mega Tyranitar is full of this.
    • When the two catch each other's attention, while paying absolutely none of it to the Pokemon currently attacking them, they casually toss aside their opponents. Tyranitar does so with a single roar that blows away the Pokemon attacking it, while Mewtwo casually launches Lucario and Medicham aside with a single use of Psychic.
    • The most powerful pokemon in the world is quick to go on the offensive, but Tyranitar's nigh invulnerability let's it shrug off everything the genetic Pokemon tosses at it. Some of which includes being slammed around and through several buildings in a nearby city. Tyranitar's sole response is to laugh.
  • Mega Heracross, as acknowledged in the analysis video, isn't exactly impressive. All it gains is the ability to lift more weight, and it only gets a few seconds of screen-time as a result. It doesn't stop it from taking what little it can do and do something impressive with it, as it single-handedly takes out the two strongest threats in the battle, the Nigh-Invulnerable Tyranitar and Olympus Mons Mewtwo, plus two other Pokemon by Seismic Tossing them into the stratosphere.
  • The moment Mega Rayquaza steps into battle at last, after spending the whole event having a tea party, it proves just why its the strongest of the Mega Evolved Pokemon, making quick work of all of the remaining fighters.
    • That said, the remaining Pokemon, led by Mega Audino, do achieve at least one thing worthy of acclaim against the legendary god of the sky: making it feel fear, as it looks legitimately terrified at the sight of the Pokemon charging at it.

Gigantamax Pokémon Battle Royale

  • The final battle between the last two combatants, Urshifu R and Lapras, has both of them getting in some excellent moments:
    • After Lapras activates its Aurora Veil ability, Urshifu R begins charging it with the intent to finish off the battle. Lapras activates Max Guard, preparing to defend itself against the attack, only for Urshifu R to scream "YOU FOOL!!" and punch straight through the Max Guard (with a One-Punch Man shout-out to boot)!
    • And just as Urshifu R seems ready to finish off Lapras, the latter takes the opportunity to reveal just how much energy it still has and delivers a Pre-Mortem One-Liner that doubles as one of the best (and funniest) Shout-Outs in the series:
Urshifu R: Any last words before I kill ya?
      Urshifu R: (Beat)
      Lapras: THE ICE AGE!!!
(the camera pans out to reveal that Lapras has summoned a sphere of snow larger than the planet, which falls on Urshifu R and crushes him, securing Lapras the victory)

Pokémon Battle Royale: ULTRA BEASTS!

  • Kartana ends up being an absolute terror in the battle, thanks to its ability to cut anything. From chopping Celesteela mid lift-off, to slicing its way out the black hole that is Guzzlords stomach, to nearly winning against Naganandel by slicing its stinger mid attack, only failing due to being unable to survive the explosion.

Starter Pokemon Battle Royale

  • After showing up in numerous prior battle royales and dying either instantly, in an undignified way, or both, series mascot Pikachu manages to go the distance. It makes it to the final two and lasts infuriatingly long against Blaziken while scoring some kills of its own along the way, thanks in large part to being Partner Pikachu combined with its current excellence in the TCG. While it does go down in the end, it does not go down easily, and Blaziken is left exhausted and on the verge of defeat itself, while Pikachu manages to give one last nod to its trainer before collapsing.
  • Props have to be given to Swampert. Its response to having its beach time interrupted by a Typhlosion explosion and Torterra Earthquake is to summon a tsunami through Surf that, thanks to the previous damage to the island, wipes out a good chunk of the competition, if the amount of souls leaving the chasm is to be believed. If it weren't for Rillaboom attacking it at the last second and its 4x Grass weakness, it would have likely taken the win against the remaining Fire and Electric types.
