[[UpToEleven However]], that's the '''nicest''' thing she'll do in retaliation as ''Scale 14'' reveals that not only she knows Karate, [[spoiler:but also inflict a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown on the Rare Hunters who kidnapped her in ''Scale 15''.]] It says a lot that Gongenzaka gave an abridged version of what she did to them to which both Yuya and Sawatari pale in horror at the implications, to where Yuzu lightheartedly states that the former is ''exaggerating'' by explaining that she only ''broke a couple of bones''.

* NiceHat: Sports quite the spiffy hat, befitting his status as a sort of ringmaster.

* RapunzelHair: She has long hair that reaches past her waist.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: It's subdued, but he has silver hair.

In this fic, she seems to no longer have the mental illness that plagues her anime counterpart as a result of a better and warmer upbringing and was ''even able to force Yuto to end their duel in a DRAW'' during ''Scale 12''.

** It's been stated that Zarc is an incredible duelist, with Reiji admitting that he is far stronger than he is. However, Zarc purposely invokes the trope on himself by wanting to perform Entertainment Dueling, which has duelists playing to provide entertainment and bring smiles to both the audience and the opponents. This, in turn, limits Zarc's otherwise aggressive and brutal playstyle.

* RedOniBlueOni: In terms of playstyle, Ray is the blue oni to Reiji's red oni. In the Tag Duel against Yuya and Zarc, she stands completely still and doesn't move at all, instead of having her monsters capture the Action Cards and bring them to her or allowing the environment to send them her way, whereas Reiji rushes around the stage in search of Action Cards.

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: {{Downplayed|Trope}} as he's still a PragmaticHero from canon, but he's less cynical and more openly kind to the others and is known to have a habit of spoiling his siblings, according to Himika. One such example of this is shown in ''Scale 05'', where not only does he had his DDD Pendulum monsters fully made, along with a new Duel Disk, but also had Ray's En Deck completed as a top priority along with her own Duel Disk as well, while Reira's Pendulum cards are going to take some time.
* AdaptationalWimp: {{Zigzagged|Trope}}. He's still a powerful and very skilled Duelist from canon, but with Duelists like his older adoptive step[=/=]half-sister and Zarc existing on the same side, it's been expressed ''numerous'' times by his mother and himself that he pales in [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter comparison]] to them. That being said, he does get more upgrades to his DDD Deck as shown in his Duel against [[spoiler:Kurosaki]].

* AwesomeByAnalysis: When they go through the footage on Sawatari's Duel Disk and witness his battle against Yuto, Reiji begins to piece together things that don't come up until much later in the anime, such as the existence of doppelgangers of Yuya Sakaki, each with their own dragon based on their home dimension. He even correctly assumes that Zarc is the true founder of Pendulum Summoning, on account of him possessing a deck chock-full of Pendulum Cards, its powerful effects, and the fact that he has EvilCounterpart dragons to the Dimensional Dragons. Not to mention the fact that Zarc's Pendulum Summoning emits more energy than Yuya Sakaki, the supposed creator of the summoning method.

* ElementalPowers: Many of Reiji's DDD monsters all possess different attributes and abilities pertaining to those attributes. Some of their names even reflect their attributes, like DDD Flame King Temujin -- a FIRE Attribute monster.

* MasterOfAll: His DDD Deck revolves around every summoning method under the sun, perhaps barring Ritual Summoning.

* NobleDemon: His DDD monsters are considered to be EvilOverlord monsters, and he's done a few questionable things, but make no mistake. He is firmly on the side of good and willing to fight Academia alongside the rest of the Lancers.

* ThemeNaming: His DDD Monsters refer to conquerors and TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt scenarios. For example, one of his monsters is called "DDD Wave Oblivion King Caesar Ragnarok."

* DidntThinkThisThrough: Something that's lampshaded and criticizes by Masumi, Yuto, and Shun. While Hokuto's swarm tactics of bringing out three Xyz monsters in a single turn was impressive, he doesn't plan ahead in case his opponent was to counter his monsters' effects.

* SkilledButNaive: He's considered the top Xyz duelist of LDS and is not too shabby when it comes to Xyz summoning ''three monsters'' in a single turn, but as Yuto puts it, [[spoiler:Hokuto's knowledge of the Constellar archetype is very subpar and could name ''30'' different other duelists who also uses the same archetype from his native dimension raging of such poor utilization]].

* AmnesiacHero: For unexplained reasons, Zarc remembers nothing about his past as the Demon Duelist. He does, however, dream about his defeat at the hands of Ray Akaba. As a result of his amnesia, Zarc is far more likable than he did in the anime.

* BloodKnight: Constantly {{defied|Trope}} whenever he faces against a particularly strong Duelist.

* WhamLine: In contrast to You Show, who don't recognize [[spoiler:The Winged Dragon of Ra, its Attribute, and Type,]] Zarc immediately does and identifies it as being one of the [[spoiler:Egyptian God Cards]], even though he's currently suffering from amnesia. [[spoiler:This helps Yami Marik identify him as someone who also hails from the Original Dimension.]]

* UnexplainedRecovery: Given that Ray separated Zarc into the Yu boys, his being in Standard raises several questions.
* UnstoppableRage: Anger him at your own risk. Just don't expect to survive, unless your name is Ray Akaba.

* WillfullyWeak: According to Reiji, Zarc's adherence to the You Show Duel School's Entertainment Dueling has limited the full power of his dueling skills. This is, of course, invoked and enforced by Zarc himself so he steers away from his [[BloodLust violent urges]].

* OhCrap: The Winged Dragon of Ra elicits this reaction, albeit to various degrees. For everyone from You Show who don't recognize it, it possessing an attribute and type they've never heard of and its effects in wracking up ludicrous Life Points makes them realize it's incredibly dangerous. For Zarc, who knows what it is, he knows what it's capable of and rightly fears it.

* LegacyCharacter: One of the cast members from the original ''Yu-Gi-Oh!'' series, though whether he's the real deal or an AlternateSelf to existing past series characters in ''ARC-V'' like Jack or Crow.

* BigBrotherMentor: Zarc fills this role for Yuya, helping him discover Pendulum's potential and possible abilities much earlier than in canon.

* NiceGuy: Since he no longer remembers his past as the Demon Duelist, he plays this straight.

* WillfullyWeak: According to Reiji, Zarc's adherence to the You Show Duel School's Entertainment Dueling has limited the full power of his dueling skills. This is, of course, invoked and enforced by Zarc himself so he steers away from his violent [[BloodLust urges]].

* AdaptationalVillainy: In the original manga, Marik became TheAtoner near the end of Battle City after his brutal treatment at the hands of his SuperpoweredEvilSide. Here, he's more like Yami Marik.

* LegacyCharacter: Like Jonouchi, he is the second character from the original ''Yu-Gi-Oh!'' manga to appear in the world of ''Arc-V,'' though his portrayal is seemingly more in-line with his "Yami Marik" persona.
* PhysicalGod: Not him, but his monster, the Winged Dragon of Ra. And for good reason.

* ArchaicWeaponForAnAdvancedAge: Although not to the same degree as Yuzu who learned Ritual Summoning, Sawatari has begun using cards that haven't been seen since the original ''Yu-Gi-Oh!'' series, such as the Waboku Spell Card.
