openArtistic LIcense History
Since we're considering the existence of general pages of Historical Hero Upgrade and Historical Villain Upgrade, perhaps we should look the "Various Media" sub page of Artisic License History. It too is a various grab bag of random historical trivia, not really dedicated to any works. Also, it really sounds like alot of people are adding half remembered historical data, with little truthitude involved. Perhaps the whole page should go as well.

Edited by laserviking42openWhen is it okay to post spoilers Videos
A while ago, I tried to post a video example for a trope, but it was rejected for having spoilers. At the time it was still pretty recent, but is there a certain amount of time that has to pass, before I can use a spoiler video example? I notice that we have a few video examples that have heavy spoilers in them, so I'm assuming that's the case. If so, what would that be?
openHow do you make a user-based search?
I saw recently an post on ATT mentioning that they did a username based search on TLP. Is it possible to do the same in other places like Trope Finder? And if so, how do I do it?
open Impropably female cast vs. chromosome casting
What is the point of slightly questionable trope Improbably Female Castnote which implies an ambiguous amount of women in cast is "too much women" while not having a "too many men" counterpart, when Chromosome Casting (which covers both men and women) exists?
Edited by NukeliopenCreate a potentially overlapping trope, or expand existing one.
I was looking for a trope that covers Equal Opportunity Armies. Basically the same as Equal-Opportunity Evil, but then for complete armies (or other combative groups like superhero teams) that can be anywhere on the sliding scale of good vs. evil.
I found that we have Gender Is No Object, but this is only for mixed-gender armies. however, the equal opportunity army would also include being unconcerned with race, sexuality and (in the case of Sci Fi and Fantasy) species.
Some samples to show what I'm referring to:
- the Republic City army in Legend of Korra which has benders and non-benders, coming from all different parts of the world, male and female.
- the hunters in RWBY which include Humans and Faunus; different races; all genders and sexual orientations.
- the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars Legends, and the Resistance in the Sequel Trilogy.
- The Arendelle guards in Frozen II who are mixed gender and have a person of color as their commanding officer.
The problem is that if this were to be created as a separate trope, there would be large overlap with Gender Is No Object.
What would be the best way to go about this? Create a new trope and accept that there will be overlap? Or expand Gender Is No Object through TRS in a larger trope that also includes other non straight [local culture only] males?

On YMMV.Buffy The Vampire Slayer S 3 E 2 Dead Mans Party, KingKong118 uncommented out the following example:
and added additional context:
Yet for some reason Goldenroad, has deleted the additional context turning it back into a Zero-Context Example.
And looking through the page history shows that the example was originally added to the page with proper context:
But a couple of years ago Goldenroad had deleted the last sentence turning it into a Zero Context Example.
openEdit War: Quiet Vultures
I just noticed that I'm in an add-delete-add cycle with ~Milarqui. Relevant page is "The Gentle Vultures". They added Unwitting Instigator of Doom in March last year, and I removed it in May because the story ends before any collapse occurs. They re-added with an effectively identical claim before the end of the day. The Hurrians do say that they're going to pull out of the system, but nothing indicates their empire will collapse or that humanity will discover FTL.
Edited by crazysamaritanopenRonTheDeathEater misuse or not?
Ron the Death Eater was removed from YMMV.Rebuild Of Evangelion citing "Ron the Death Eater is a Fanfic Trope, meaning unless the description specifically applies to portrayals in fanworks, its Trope Misuse." When I PM'd them that there was no consensus on if it should go under the original or fan work, they sent me a large text from the Ron the Death Eater page arguing it should only go under the fan work.
What, if anything, should be done?
Edited by Ferot_DreadnaughtopenEarly Game Hell lists Minecraft twice Videogame
Early Game Hell. Not sure what the proper change to make is so I thought I should ask. Should one just be deleted? And if so which? They're under different genres as well.
Edited by FGHIKopenSockpuppet account
Spencer Collins 213447 was a user I reported back in June because of his speculative edits. I don't remember if he got suspended, but he came back as Peeeps. The edits are the same and he obsesses over the Bob the Builder 2015 reboot, saying that it's just on hiatus and will come back when it has in fact been canceled.
I don't know how he keeps doing this. I have to deal with his antics on Fandom all the time, I've IP banned him and all his sockpuppets from the wikis I run, but he always comes back like a boomerang.
openYMMV/Summoning Salt
I noticed that the only example on YMMV.Summoning Salt is a Discussed Trope, so it doesn't belong on YMMV. The page should probably be cut.
The first part of the example, about specific bosses that gave the discussed players a hard time, could probably be moved to the main trope list. But the second half is about specific real-life players that were extremely dominant. Would it be better to move them to a different trope, such as The Ace (EDIT: Though, The Ace is No Real Life Examples, Please!, so maybe something else would be better)?
Here's what the example looks like:
- That One Boss: Two types of examples are discussed.
- First, generally any boss that has an overly random pattern can become infamous for killing many runs if they waste too much time.
- In the Blindfolded Punch Out video, Bald Bull and Piston Honda both gave Sinister 1 a hard time when he was first trying to beat them blindfolded, as their combination of random patterns and high damage output made them difficult to counter prior to the discovery of input buffering.
- In the Super Mario Bros speedruns (both warps and warpless), Bowser is known for being incredibly random and needing extremely precise kills to get past him without wasting precious time.
- Second, some speedrunners have skills that bring them infamy for making it difficult to beat their records.
- In Super Metroid the player known as "hotarubi" used to hold the world record by a large margin. At the time his run was first posted his level of play was so above his competition many claimed he was cheating and his video was held for verification for weeks. Others thought he could only be beaten by doing a segmented runnote Playing separate parts of the game instead of doing it in one sitting and merging them together. instead of a single-segment run. It took many years until people finally caught up to his skill and beat his run.
- Matt Turk for Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. One entire episode was dedicated in detailing on how people beat his times. Doesn't sound impressive, right? Well, it took the combined efforts of some of the best players in the entire world and then some just so people would have a chance of beating his times. To quote the video itself: "Matt Turk's skill level was way, way beyond any other player in the world. And there was pretty much no hope in anybody else beating some of them."
- First, generally any boss that has an overly random pattern can become infamous for killing many runs if they waste too much time.
openSomeone is editing a link onto fashion related pages.
I've noticed that on a few fashion related pages (as seen here and here) someone has been randomly editing a link onto the pages' description. I'm haven't clicked on the link, since I'm wary of what it could be, but it appears to be for something called "Project Runway".
Anyway, these seem to be added despite having absolutely no reason to, and I fear he may try to continue to do this, so I thought I'd bring it up here so this can be fixed.
openThe page for Life Simulation Game seems odd...
I hope this is the right place for this!
Anyway, the page for Life Simulation Game is different than I'd expect. Most genre pages are indexes (compare the very similar Farm Life Sim page, which is an index), but this one isn't. Instead, it seems to be acting like a trope page, complete with examples that were Dummied Out for not having descriptions! Should it be index-ified? And if so, would everything added to it need to have descriptions still?
openWhat do we consider porn?
We understandably don't allow porn on the site. However we do allow works that are Porn with Plot. Now all porn has a degree of plot, even if it's very rudimentary. So, how much plot does porn need to have before it can be added to the site?
openWeird notes on a page Videogame
VideoGame.MGCM has an "important notes" section at the end of its description. I know the section is rife with bad grammar, but that can be cleaned up. My question is this: Is such a section of warnings about the game and its trope page allowed? Here's the full text for convenience:
Important Notes:
- There’s an official NSFW or R18+ version called MGCM DX. However, hentai content isn't allowed here as per the rules and 5P policy of TV Tropes, so we'll stick to discussing the regular/SFW version. If needed, only text descriptions regarding contents from DX version are allowed and should be restricted and limited as possible.
- For those who want to play this game, beware. This game which seems lighthearted at first, it gets darker and more confusing than you expected, starting from Chapter 4 Episode 5 onwards in the main story. For those who cannot handle the Nightmare Fuel of this game, do skip the story starting from said chapter and do not read the summary screen after pressing skip button, and quickly press skip button on the summary screen. You Have Been Warned!
- The main story and other stories of this game heavily relies on Quantum Physics, especially The Multiverse theory, which states that infinite numbers of universes are exist from the beginning with various (both possible and impossible) and infinite possibilities. Mind Screw ensues.
- To understand the main story of this game, think about Magical Girl Raising Project with Multiverse or Noein setting and Joker demons from Persona 2 as enemy demons of Magicami.
SFW version only! (Excluding the Fan Disservice and Content Warnings examples)

Overtook the Series is listed on Fanfic Tropes, but contains no fan work examples. Is it mis-indexed, or would listing a fan work there simply be redundant?
openCreator Name vs "Character's Actor"
I'm seeing an inconsistency on the Moments pages of this wiki. Sometimes while talking about an actor's talent, their name is actually used. Other times, you'll see "[character]'s actor." I personally think it looks better to have the creator's name, but which one should be used universally?
i've been out of the loop and just now noticed that X Meets Y is now a "Just For Fun" page, and i'm not entirely sure what that implies. does that mean they don't belong on the main page of a work?
