openDethroning moment
I found this entry on Western Animation A to J in The Boondocks folder:
"Franks Girl: While the current charges (2019) and upcoming trial (2020) of R. Kelly make this episode seem like an outrageous scenario that no jury would ever do, it's what actually happened in Real Life in R Kelly's 2003 trial. Kelly was charged with 13 counts of child porn and child molestation, the video Huey describes is real and was played in court for the jury, and yet Kelly was completely acquitted of all charges, with the man's fans defending Kelly for the reasons Huey rants about. The true D Mo S isn't the Boondocks' episode, but that said episode is still relevant, 17 years later. The Crapsack world of Boondocks is ours."
I am not sure if it's triying to defend the original DM (the stupity of the jury), or if it's saying that the real trial is a DM, but both contesting entries an put real-life moments are forbbiden, so, the entry should be cut ?
openPotential misuse of What the Hell, Hero? Live Action TV
What the Hell, Hero? was added to the recap page of Heritage and The Perks of Not Being A Wallflower, two episodes from Superman & Lois.
In the "Heritage page", What the Hell, Hero? was written with the following context: "General Sam Lane is not happy with Clark telling his sons that he is Superman, going so far as accusing him of having destroyed their childhoods."
I had originally removed What the Hell, Hero? from the trope list, as I understand it, What the Hell Hero? only applies when the hero gets called out for acting in a morally questionable or borderline villainous manner, but troper Forenperser added back with the following reason: "Id say accusing Clark of destroying his sons childhoods very much qualifies as 'villainous' (from Sams perspective)"
I get that Sam is just trying to look after his grandchildren in his own way, but in the series, Sam treats Superman like a weapon that he can deploy whenever the U.S. Army can't handle a metahuman problem, to the point that he tells Lois that he thinks that Superman shouldn't have a normal life, not to mention that the Stranger/Captain Luthor is trying to convince Sam that Superman is a disaster waiting to happen.
As for "The Perks of Not Being A Wallflower", What the Hell, Hero? has this context: "Both Jordan and Jonathan are not happy to learn that Clark essentially spies on them with his super hearing. They're particularly not amused when Clark pulls a You Didn't Ask when confronted about how he keeps track of them."
I think this example is just unfair towards Clark. He was merely using his super-hearing in order to listen to his sons' problems at school. Jordan was being bullied and about to use his admittedly weak heat vision on a bully and it was only through Clark's intervention that bullies backed off. While Jonathan and Jordan were justifiably angry that Clark was spying on them, especially because Clark had done the same with Lois years ago, the original problem still stands: Jonathan and Jordan only got out of trouble because Clark bailed them out, not to mention that Jordan's hybrid physiology makes it difficult for the Kents to predict when or how will his powers manifest. What was Clark supposed to do? Just stand by and wait for the problem to get worse?
So, what do you think?
Edited by MasterHeroopenTrue Art Is Incomprehensible Question
I stumbled upon True Art Is Incomprehensible and the page is... Well, it confuses me. There is a description, and the page is indexed, but all of the examples are gone. They were removed on May 28, 2013 by Fast Eddie, who I know used to be one of the main mods here. I guess my question is, why were all of the examples removed?
openRecycled Set vs. Prop Recycling
Prop Recycling and Recycled Set having some overlap isn't that surprising, and examples sometimes need to be moved from one to the other.
However, both tropes have a "Pinballs" folder, which I find especially confusing, the examples already present seemingly fitting either.
Please read both of these folders and tell me what you think. I do believe it would be best to reunite them under the same trope...
openAm I free to do a major alteration of a page description to clarify things?
The trope description is short, so it wouldn't be large text-wise, but "major" here is relative.
Currently, You Lose at Zero Trust emphasizes romantic relationships and the like at the start, before noting that it can also apply to things like Alliance Meters. I want to rewrite the trope description to note its relevance to all kinds of relationships in games where they are measured in some capacity.
As it would change the way the page flows, I figure this would be a major change to the page, and I don't know if I'm free to do such things unilaterally.
Edited by AGuyopenPossible Incorrect Info
The trivia pages for LEGO and LEGO City Adventures have this regarding a recently cancelled Lego set that respectively read "Similarly, the 60278 City set got unreleased due to the Bombings." and "A Tie-in 60278 Set got unreleased due to the Bombings." 2 issues with this.
1)LEGO never made it official that this was the reason the set was cancelled, that's just speculation.
2)I might be out of the loop or something happened in another country (I live in the US), but I don't recall any major bombings, not helped by the vague use of "bombings." I'm assuming the troper's talking about the mass shootings in Atlanta, GA and Boulder, CO.
Should I at the very least elaborate on the two examples?
Edited by nwotyzalopen"You may be looking for [other work["
Troper Primis has recently decided to add highly prominent !! notes to works that share a title with a different work. The notes are right at the top (above the quote and image) and look like this:
You may be looking for the Another Work With the Same Name, by Creator of the Other Work
So far these notes have appeared on Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, on RocketMan (1997) and Rocketman (2019), on Prey (2006) and Prey (2017), and on Solaris (1972) and Solaris (2002). On the latter two pages, I have deleted the notes, on account of them being unnecessary and irritating because of their prominence and unnecessary-ness. Then I checked out Primis' edit history and noticed that they already made several of these kind of notes.
I figured I might get feedback before proceeding to zap all of them. So, does anybody think these notes have any merit, so that they should not be deleted without replacement?
Edited by LordGroopenNo Title Western Animation
nsommer659 created Expy.Invincible 2021.
However as the examples were Zero-Context Examples according to the Expy clean-up thread, so I commented them out and added the "Zero-Context Example entries are not allowed on wiki pages. All such entries have been commented out. Add context to the entries before uncommenting them." to the top of the page.
Nsommer659 has since then uncommented all the examples without expanding on them.
openDC Extended Universe - Individual Character Pages and where characters are listed in franchises Film
I'm confused. Any reason why characters like Mera got individual pages when there isn't much information. What's the line to be drawn for this. NOTE: The fact that there are alternate universes is not an excuse such as the Knightmare timeline to do this (Knightmare is a big link farm). Yea, there could be a fine line to draw. At the same time, there could be confusion about where an overall character's assignment is. One to be careful of is Swanwick/Manhunter (Listed in US Military as Swanwick for MoS and BvS but under Justice League (as Manhunter) for ZSJL
What is the rule for individual pages and indexing again?
Edited by MasterSonopenIs potholing trope names to change the spelling okay?
The troper offa seems to have a Righting Great Wrongs issue of changing all American spellings on the Harry Potter character sheets to British spellings, e.g. "honor" to "honour" and "criticize" to "criticise". The thing is, he also potholes trope names to fit the British spellings. Is that allowed?

Edited by HvedekornopenRick and Morty Help Western Animation
I'm growing a little tired of this.
All of the moments pages for WesternAnimation.Rick And Morty (except for Tearjerker, which already got fixed) have images in the subfolders. Should I make Image Pickin threads for each one?
open "It's on every channel" trope?
Do we have a trope for when something is so newsworthy it's on every channel, even sometimes in spite of that not making sense?
I remember seeing it a lot at one point but it's definitely a dead horse trope now with the advent of specialised TV channels (except for parodies "Even the cooking channel?!")
openPage ownership issues and rudeness Webcomic
PrincessPandaTrope and I are the only two people who frequently edit the page for the Sonic the Hedgehog fan comic Ghosts of the Future. I'm starting to understand why nobody else wants to edit the page. She keeps sending me PMs after I edit, saying that she's "very disappointed with" me for not phrasing things exactly the way she wanted.
One example would be my latest edit, where I removed the word "very" from a lot of edits, since it's a word that usually doesn't do any good. Saying "the house is very big" doesn't actually give you any more exact info about how big the house is than if you just say "The house is big."
She PMed me and said that I should have replaced it with a more descriptive adjective instead, without explaining why she couldn't do that herself.
She also said that I was giving the middle finger to the comic's creator, Evan Stanley, by replacing "very [adjective]" with a plain "[adjective]". She said that I was misleading people about the content of the comic this way—as if I had changed an exact measurement to one less exact or accurate.
And then there's the time when she asked people to cut down the wall of text in one entry, and then when I did that, she asked me to explain why I deleted things. I tried to be polite, but I wondered why she even asked for help if she expected people to follow rules she never bothered mentioning.
(Then, in an act of Edit Warring, she put back things I'd taken away.)
It feels like she's decided that my only task is to fix the grammar and spelling mistakes she keeps making again and again. It also feels like she's got this idea of how the page must be written that she assumes everybody else knows and she therefore chooses never to tell people about.
To be frank, she's acting like she's Knuckles the Echidna and the GotF page is a Chaos Emerald. ('Cause she's acting like its guardian, geddit?)
Short version: This troper is rude, keeps edit warring and has page ownership issues, and it's getting very tiring.
Edited by MichaelKatsuroopenArchive Headscratchers
I notice that some Headscratchers pages have uneditable archive pages. I think this may have been an old technique for when the pages got too long, but nowadays it seems the procedure is just to split the pages. I find it odd that the questions on the pages are left in a form where they can’t be responded to, since it seems like cutting off any future discussion on them.
openCreator vs Web Video
I've asked this several times but never got a definitive answer. Should Creator.Ryan George be moved to WebVideo.Ryan George? It's only troping his Youtube channel (which is also titled "Ryan George"), plus the only other work he's done with its own page is also web video work.
I have a similar question about the Creator.Pro ZD page, as it's largely troping his web video sketches, but unlike Ryan George, SungWon Cho is a creator with works in multiple namespaces since he's also a voice actor. However, his videos are eligible for YMMV items that a Creator page usually shouldn't have. So what would we do in this case? Keep it as one page or split Creator.Sung Won Cho for the actor himself and WebVideo.Pro ZD for his skits?
openFan-translation names used on pages Videogame
The sequel to Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth was never officially translated into English. However, that page and its subpages universally use English names from a fan translation to refer to the characters. The character sheets clarify the English names are from the fan translation, but still use them. Isn't it more in line with the TVT policy to use the Japanese names? Should this be fixed?
openWhere is the psychological thriller "The Owners" page? Film
Anyway we could get a page made for the 2020 film, the Owners, starring Sylvester Mc Coy and Maisie Williams?
openedit dispute
I removed two examples from CreatorsPet.Literature, Cassie from Animorphs and April from Everworld, for not meeting The Scrappy requirement and related reasons.
I also rewrote a Base-Breaking Character entry for April on YMMV.Everworld to fix some issues, including removing a mention of Creator's Pet.
Recently Mister Tambourine Man deleted this entry that I had added to So This Is Basically...:
In the interest of avoiding an Edit War, I'd like to lay out my justification for why I think the entry fits. First of all, no proper edit reason was given for the deletion.
If it's about the fact that these two characters turned out to not actually be Gay Options, I thought I made it somewhat apparent in the parentheticals. Also the reason I added the entry in the first place was because a large enough number of people drew connections between the video and the situation at the time to make jokes about it (in fact, the sheer amount of memes is how I first heard about the video). So while it's technically inaccurate, and I'm willing to modify the entry to make it clear, it's not shoehorning, and so I'd argue it qualifies as a historic example.
