Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:
- • General questions about the wiki, how it works, and how to do things.
- • Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.
- • Reports of misbehavior or abuse by other tropers.
Ask the Tropers is not for:

openCustom title changed associated capitalization
I distinctly remember that the custom title for After-Action Patch-Up was formerly associated with the capitalization AfterActionPatchUp, and not with AfterActionPatchup. Now, it's the other way around.
Anyone know what's going on there?
I also notice that the page's actual capitalization is currently AfterActionPatchup. I don't recall what it was at the time the custom title was associated with the capitalization AfterActionPatchUp, and looking back through the capitalization fixing thread, there doesn't seem to have been any request to change it. I note this because there have been cases of mis-match between "page's actual capitalization" and "capitalization its custom title is tied to".
openSupertrope as Namespace
(Accidentally made this in TF, reposting it here)
Currently there's no Main.Alien Food Is Edible, it's under NoBiochemicalBarriers.Alien Food Is Edible. Similarly, there's BlandNameProduct.WcDonalds.
Is it supposed to be that way?
openThe Film of the Series trope question Anime
Do Anime in general, with Non-Serial Movie films, qualify for The Film of the Series, even though they're non-canon, based on Canonical List of Subtle Trope Distinctions for The Film of the Series:
"The Film of the Series uses a different cast and is usually out of continuity, unless it's a years-later sequel."
I was going to include Film.Dragon Ball Evolution on the list.
I'm not sure whether to list them or not.
open Pokemon biology Anime
How groudon Pokemon generates shimmering heat biologically?
Edited by BaltimoreopenAre YMMV's allowed in drinking games?
So I made the Drinking Game pages for several of the Star Trek series, and I went back to see if anyone had added anything, and I noticed on the Deep Space Nine and Voyager drinking games, people added Ho Yay. I know Drinking Games are Just for Fun, but it still doesn't seem right to me, adding a YMMV to a drinking game.
openMatch Sequence
A troper named donmcdonough has been repeatedly editing the page for Match Sequence, and repeatedly inserting information for pinball tables that do not exist. This is clearly in violation of site rules.
openNuke a draft on hold
Could a mod please nuke the draft Different Individualistic Powers? I found it through the TLP discard project; it looks like it was put on hold two years ago after OP started creating sockpuppet accounts to convince people the idea was distinct from One Person, One Power.
openVideo Player Report Feature
What is the Report feature on the video player meant for reporting? Is it for each specific video, or for problems with the video player itself?
EDIT: If it is for each video, can we use this feature to report videos that don't fit the trope they're on? Or is it just for videos with inappropriate content or stuff like that?
Edited by DrNoPumaopenNamethatisnotinuse
This morning, a Troper with the username Namethatisnotinuse posted a draft for a trope related to Fake Interactivity, related to the concept of a kids show host being unable to see something and the viewer seeing it just fine. (Think of your average Dora episode and you’ve got a good idea of what that means.) This draft was quickly nuked.
Now, in the same day as the launch of that draft, he posted a draft for another trope which also seems to be in the same vein as this one, this one appearing to throw shade at the old Playhouse Disney show Stanley. It’s one thing to make a draft like that, but two in the same day? I get the feeling this guy hates kids shows, but bashing them like this doesn’t seem like it follows site guidelines. What should we do?
open Recycled In Space
Recycled In Space has a TRS thread that has yet to be opened, but I already think it looks like more of a Just for Fun entry than an actual trope.
openWhich category? Web original or Let's play? Web Original
I wanted to put someone who streams VR Chat content on Twitch in an example of Berserk Button but he's probably better known as a co-host in a friend's youtube channel. What would this fall under?
openHow to Rename a TLP Draft (For the Purposes of Announcing Launch)
I want to add an announcement to my proposed trope's title for the planned launch date, but I don't know how. Can someone help me?
openShould there be a "linking section" on every MCU film? Film
Troper TheExtractor has taken to unilaterally adding a section to the top of all the MCU films that links it to the previous/next film in MCU release schedule.
Do we really need such a thing given that there is a Franchise page Marvel Cinematic Universe that lists all the films in the franchise and allows such navigation to each film already?
It's going to make the MCU films formatted differently than other films and does that open itself to having a "link section" for other film franchises like James Bond, Star Wars, etc?
The main thing that concerns me about this is that TheExtractor did something similar back in January 2021, where they unilaterally added a "cast list" to every MCU film.
Yet, they never seem to post any kind of discussion item beforehand of "I think this would be a neat thing to add to all MCU films" and then ask for feedback and wait for consensus before making changes to dozens of pages.
Edited by rva98014openEpithet Erased and Anime Campaign
Epithet Erased is a web series based on a role-playing session called Anime Campaign. Since AC spoils the entirety of EE while being in a very not-entertaining format, its creator has taken it off Twitch and wants those who have seen it to not spread spoilers.
- Since Anime Campaign has been taken down, should it still have a page? It's only available in unofficial Keep Circulating the Tapes format, and Brendan Blaber would prefer that people don't watch it until after Epithet Erased is over. However, there might be unofficial uploads floating around the internet, so it is still publicly available. I know that The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours says that we don't take down pages on creator request, so I'm guessing that's probably a no.
- Should we have an "absolutely no Anime Campaign spoilers" rule on the Epithet Erased pages? So far, I've seen one spoiler on WMG.Epithet Erased. The "robot girl"'s name is also spoiled in a few places, though this could be an exception to the rule since the show's creator has also used that name in reference to her EE version.
openFan-made contents on moment subpages.
Putting fan-made content on moment subpages (funny, nightmare fuel, heart warming) is indeed forbidden right? A few weeks ago, I went on a little edit-spree to remove fan-contents from popular works' sub-pages. But Mrs Doubtfire 1200 added back a folder I deleted on Homestuck's Tearjerker page with an edit reason saying "Without permission, you can’t just fucking delete whole folders.". I'd like to know who is in the right between me and her.
Edited by jOSEFdelavilleopenCharacter vs Story Tropes
Is Colour-Coded Characters a story trope or character trope? It reads to me like a story trope, but I regularly see it on character pages. Should it being on the work page or the character pages?
Edited by WyldchyldopenDethroningMoment.WesternAnimation Western Animation
The “Other” examples are on DethroningMoment.Western Animation K To Z. Shouldn’t they be on the main DethroningMoment.Western Animation page instead?
I had a trope page which, admittedly, i had complety forgotten to launch and left in the Lauch Pad for a while. I went there and lauched it yesterday, but it seems it's been deleted. Anyone know why?
