Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.

openEditing Recently Launched Pages
I recently tried to launch a page, and after looking over the suggestions in the comments, I've tried to edit it, but the system won't allow me to do so.
Is this normal, or is there a glitch?
openUseful Notes Franchise Actors indexing
What's the policy on adding index markup on Useful Notes? I wanted to move the long actors lists off from Creator.Nickelodeon and Creator.Disney Channel and move to Franchise Actors, but wanted the lists to still index to Creator pages.
Edited by MegaJopenIs this removal valid?
On Bestiality Is Depraved, Harrison The Troper 2 removed this example:
- The eponymous Dog Nigga is the result of a drunk raping a stray dog, who proceeded to give birth to a dog/human hybrid. Growing up hated by humanity, the protagonist has made it his goal to find his father and rape him, thus continuing the cycle of bestiality.
Their edit reason was "YOU'RE WELCOME FOR THE REMOVAL OF THAT".
openThis is getting VERY annoying Film
Could someone please tell everyone who keeps saying Taskmaster from Black Widow (2021) is In Name Only? I and others have deleted and corrected this point several times and yet people keep peddling it on Black Widow (2021), Black Widow (2021), MCU: Other Supervillains and MCU: Russian Government & Military.
Edited by MinisterOfSinisteropenOdd Character Page
I found that the trope page for Evil Nerd has a character page that has no connection to a work with the same title, speaking about a character from My Hero Academia. I'm wondering what to do about it or how one would go about fixing the issue.
openWord Cruft question
Is "Let that sink in" or something similar considered Word Cruft?
openQuestion about Quotes
Is there an article on this Wiki explaining how to properly write a Quotes page? All Quotes Wiki states is that you should move extra quotes to a separate page in case they start bloating the main one.
I'm asking because I found this: New X-Men. To someone who has not read the comics, this is a jumbled mess of random quotes that don't make much sense by themselves.
openMonster/Webcomics
Monster.Webcomics has the description "Just because Webcomics are online, doesn't mean they lack utterly despicable villains." This implication that online content may not be taken seriously feels rather outdated. Should it get a new description?
Edited by nw09openCan TLP be used for making work-specific examples of tropes?
Existing Examples:
I've got Dash Attack Super Smash Bros in the works right now and was wondering if TLP could be used to get more eyes on it.
Edited by IkeaHanopenLaunching a Creator Page
I'm aware of how to launch a trope page, but I can't seem to find any info on how to launch a Creator page. Could someone please help me on this? A step-by-step guide would be especially appreciated.
openEdit war and controversy on the last of us 2 Videogame
Yeah. This again.
The Last of us part 2 Ymmv page is now in an Edit War.
Technomancer 02 deleted an Overshadowed by Controversy added by Shoe Maker 806. Shoe then added it to Broken Base instead (tbf the current entry is a zce).
It was reverted from their as it was agreed overshadowed doesn't apply.
openSpaced out edit war
Horrible.Live Action Films has an entry that begins like this:
- Snakes on a Train (not to be confused with Snakes on a Plane, the film it's trying to capitalize on) is boring and extremely dull.
In July 2019, Kalmbach added a new section referencing a TV show:
- Snakes on a Train (not to be confused with Snakes on a Plane {the film it's trying to capitalize on} or Alligators on a Train is boring and extremely dull.
In November 2020, this was removed by Movie Lord 101, presumably for being Fan Myopia, though I don't think they left an edit reason.
Today, July 2021, Kalmbach added the line back, only formatted as a note this time.
Edited by mightymewtronopen Red Riding Hood Replica (repeated issue)
Courtesy link: Red Riding Hood Replica
This first cropped up on ATT just after the trope first went live.
A troper mistakenly thought I was edit warring when the RWBY entry was removed (by me), added by another troper and then removed by that troper after PM discussion between us.
The problem at the time was that the character (Ruby Rose) was listed under the sub-trope Little Red Fighting Hood, and this wiki typically does not trope something under the super-trope if the sub-trope fits. The reason she was re-added was in good faith — the page image caused confusion, leading to the belief that the entry should be listed on the page if the image is there.
At the time, I did open an image picking thread to resolve the image confusion, but there really isn't a better image of RRHR to be found, so there wasn't much consensus. So, the image was retained, but the image quote does pothole to Little Red Fighting Hood in a note.
Unsurprisingly, a Ruby Rose entry was re-added to the page two months after it was removed, and references the page image in the entry itself.
Now, I could ask for the entry to be removed. Again. But I think it is just going to get re-added again at a later date because the page image encourages it. Someone did suggest in the image picking thread that this could be handled by adding a commented-out note to the page warning people to not trope Ruby Rose there.
Can I go ahead and add a note to the page saying not to trope Ruby Rose there, and that it'll be removed if added?

On the page for the US version of the Masked Dancer, Hammerhead's image is not showing. Can someone figure out why and correct it?
openis this wikiword acceptable
currently the comic RWBY Cherish has a custom wikiword changing the title from RWBY Cherish to REMNANTS- should this be a redirect?
openPoor spelling and grammar
Chapok appears to have very bad spelling and grammar. I've just removed an entry from Recap.RWBYV 8 E 14 The Final Word and sent a notifier for poor grammar.
However, looking through their edit history, this does not appear to be an isolated incident (for examples, see here, here and here).
I had a quick look through ATT to see if this had already been raised. It hadn't been, but I did find this from December 2020 (raised by me, but I'd completely forgotten about it). He edit warred Character Development on two pages (Characters.RWBY Team JNPR (Jaune Arc) and Recap.RWBYV 8 E 4 Fault) after they'd been removed (for being overly broad when there are much more specific and relevant tropes covering that character development). It never did get resolved either on the discussion page or in ATT. Do I have permission to remove it?
Edited by WyldchyldopenJust Dance (No Name Given Trope) Videogame
Although I would like to add the trope itself since every single coach (not counting the collaborated ones) comes with no names at all, I also notice that some of the coaches have been given names, either by the directors of the game, concept arts or posts from official accounts. If it is to be added, will it be counted as a Subversion or Aversion?
openWhere to share Sandbox drafts
Is there somewhere to share work going on in the Sandbox pages? I checked the forums but it looks like that whole category has been closed off.
Edited by IkeaHan
So Troper.Jeneral 28 has been editing in unverifed reports of sexual abuse from creator Creator.Dan Schneider. For those not in the know, he's created a bunch of popular children's shows but I think as of the #MeToo movement, he's become a Memetic Molester due to the adult Radar moments in the show, and a lot of Foot Focus. He was even let go from Nickelodeon, but according to this article it was for verbal abuse and being difficult to work with and there was no sexual misconduct reported (the verbal abuse is enough that he shouldn't be working around children, but that's my opinion).
Jeneral 28 keeps editing in these allegations despite the fact that to this day, no actor that Schneider worked with has ever accused him of sexual misconduct and in the dicussion page, they link to this article for an unnaccredited blog with a lot of "he MAY have done this" type writing. Far be it from me to clear the reputation of an abusive boss but for the pages, I would like for pages to be truthful at least so they may need to be talked to.
