openPlaying With Character List
Do we have a list for characters used in the Playing With pages? Alice and Bob, and Emperor Evulz, are the best known ones, but some PW pages have conjured up other characters. Funny Octopus and some of the related tropes have Otto the octopus, Repulsive Ringmaster has Ringmaster Dante, and I'm sure there are many others.

openFirst-Person Writing Live Action TV
On the Fridge page for Better Call Saul, I'm seeing a lot of First-Person Writing. What should be done about cleaning it up?
openCleanup thread for ActorAllusion and CastingGag?
I wonder if it would be ok to launch a cleanup thread for those items. I often see Actor Allusion or Casting Gag used as amusing or flimsy similarities between two characters played by the same actor instead of intentional references.
It's almost always meaningless stuff like "it's not the first time X played a sadistic villain" or "X was a Deadpan Snarker in this other film". I really think it's a widespread issue.

Edited by StFanopenPolicy on unverifiable or incomprehensible entries
Question. I've periodically run into entries where:
-the information doesn't appear to be easily verifiable. I had a difficult issue back a month or so ago with an entry of this sort. At the time, I suppressed the entry using double percentage symbols, leaving a note as to why it was treated as such. It was restored without changes and with no edit reason, and the troper in question did not respond to PMs about this. Eventually, the whole folder got removed for Examples Are Not General reasons after a lot of tooth-gnashing discussion.
-the entry is so badly written that it's incomprehensible. When I'm able to puzzle out what's meant, I edit the entry. Otherwise, I've been leaving them alone. Have given some thought to suppressing them with a note, but not sure if that would be the right thing to do.
Thanks all!
Edited by BoltDMCopenFound sandbox, not sure if it's kosher
So I was dewicking a cut page, and I came across Sandbox.Laptop Guy American Politicians. It seems to be a troper's draft of a Useful Note of some sort that just lists American politicians and political pundits. I PM'd them and told them that this seemed off-mission and probably wouldn't work as a Useful Note, but they responded "The Useful Notes page is all about real life, after all." Thoughts?
Edited by ccorbopenHadestown namespace Music
Hadestown is currently put under Theatre.Hadestown, but it started life as a concept album, which would fall under Music, like how Music.Jesus Christ Superstar was an album before becoming a film/stage play and has redirects to both namespaces. With that in mind, what namespace should Hadestown fall under?
Edited by lalalei2001open Bonus Boss definition
Here is a thing I have noticed about Bonus Boss that I would like to discuss a bit;
In the ThatOneBoss.Atlus page, there is a restriction that says "no Bonus Bosses". Then it explains that bosses that are fought to unlock specific endings do not count as such. In other words, you can finish the game without fighting the boss, but if you go for a specific ending, you HAVE to and WILL fight it. According to that, those bosses are NOT bonus bosses.
OK so far, but then I noticed that other pages for games that also have Multiple Endings treat the issue a bit differently.
For example, the Undertale page (and by default the Deltarune page as well) refer to bosses that can only be fought in specific endings as Bonus Bosses. For example, the Final Boss of the Genocide run. You don't have to fight that boss to finish the game, but if you go through the necessary steps to achieve the Genocide run, you HAVE to fight him to get that ending.
This situation is identical to the one described in the Atlus page above, with one difference; the Undertale page still treats those bosses are Bonus Bosses, even if fighting them becomes obligatory under certain conditions.
I'm pretty sure there are similar situations and differences in many other pages.
So, what should we do here? Is this a case of trope misuse? Unclear description? A subject that has not been addressed? Can something be done?
Edited by LermisopenA friend having trouble logging in to TV Tropes.
So a close friend of mine is interested in logging into TV Tropes, but for some odd reason, he's locked from doing so, and he's also unable to access his profile to change his PFP. I find this very strange because I never encountered this sort of problem before. Any ideas as to what is happening? A glitch? A new policy for new users?
Edited by DivineFlame100openMoving Trope to Trivia
I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine is listed as a main trope, since it involves scenes that take place within a work. But the motivation behind said events has more to do with behind-the-scenes and production.
openAdding a fanfic page Western Animation
Hello,
I'm a frequent reader of fan fiction for the Rooster Teeth work RWBY and there's a fan fic that I believe deserves it's own page. It's called "Children of Remnant" and is not only a fairly original story idea, but is very trope heavy, so I would be able to create a page for it and add multiple tropes to it - if only I knew how to actually create the page for it. How do I create the page for the work?
Thanks for your time.
Edited by STARCRUSHER99open Questionable Trope of the day.
Apparently, the trope of the day is... Panty Thief. Was this approved by the mods? Especially given the links to shota and loli in that page's description, that is concerning.
Edit: Making this public, because this is a site wide concern.
Edited by SkyCat32openExistsinmyHeart
Existsinmy Heart seems to have a problem with natter (here, here) and some grammar issues (here, here). They also tend to be a bit complainy in some of their natter (such as here, "This is also what 90s Rei fans use if anyone actually complains about it on a non-fanfiction site." and here where they go off-topic during a Nightmare Fuel entry to rant about the episode's aesop by saying "the character looked scary so they were right to be afraid" which is completely missing the point of the episode, here where the point of Broken Base is lost and it's just complaining about Ronnie Anne's behavior). They also seem to struggle with formatting.
They haven't been active since June 7, IDK if they were suspended or just went inactive, but I just wanted to keep note of this to see if we can clean up some of the natter and grammar issues, and if anything was misused. I did just send them a couple of notifiers.
Edited by mightymewtronopenTropers deleting Word of God
tidowo deleted cited Word of God entries under Trivia. My Little Pony Equestria Girls regarding the ages of characters without edit reason awhile back. I PM'd them about it they replied "because this is not giving us a logical explanation, what is certain is that the equestria girls and timber are officially teenagers. they left us ambiguous" which sounds like they deleted because disagree with it. I replied that doesn't make Word of God any less valid and added the entries back. They re-deleted them. All their edits (save a null edit under Ambiguously Related) are about the ages of the EG characters, which I assumed was their being new but at this point seems suspect.
gomail also deleted a cited Word of God entry about the ages/timeline in Headscratchers. My Little Pony Equestria Girls without edit reason. They have a much more active and unrelated edit history, so ordinarily I'd just assume it's coincidental.
The deleted entries:
- Trivia. My Little Pony Equestria Girls
- The main characters are around 17 years old. Sunset is "a bit older than Twilight in pony years and "age wise she’s like a senior, who was held back a couple years!"
- Timber Spruce is 17-18, "1 and a half?" years older than human Twilight Sparkle, and still in high school.
- Headscratchers. My Little Pony Equestria Girls
- If this were her final school year it would be mentioned, and they aren't seniors yet.
Thoughts? Is there any justification for the removal I'm missing?

open i'm so sorry.
hi, some people have the right to edit for some reason or not, only when necessary, but don't overdo it too much but i forgot to edit with reasons unintentionally. It doesn't mean that this is edit war because I'm not a bad person, I don't want it taken from me. Ferot_Dreadnaught harasses me for something that I didn't do anything at all, I'm just frustrated and I'm scared. There are things that don't give us a logical explanation such as ... In the ending of Halloween 3 it is not known if the children survived or not, the ending of The Plage Dogs it is not known if the dogs did not survive swimming. that's kind of ambiguous whether you think about what it is or not. A director of an animated show confirms an exact age of a character, one gives the company and written in the letters and characteristics of the character either male or male as Lauren faust dictate the exact ages of the DC Super Hero Girls(2019), https://scontent.ftij3-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/57379452_2134483219972164_6209077754168606720_n.jpg?_nc_cat=111&ccb=2&_nc_sid=a26aad&_nc_eui2=AeESad10fzwPtfy9vRn5xOBpCX6iYDt4088JfqJgO3jTz_Wp1qyVa0KjscW_1rcsCYhskzHFTrQN5Cozbg-p5pAO&_nc_ohc=6VGV4Vg5ddkAX8sYJRl&_nc_ht=scontent.ftij3-1.fna&oh=94a3dd77ef9daf8d48dfa2e2da278d52&oe=5FE67AD2 It's the only thing that I agree with it because this was approved by the creator and the others, that's true Wordof God unlike Totally Spies and Equestria Girls, these weren't dictated more than ambiguous (the only thing that it's true is that these characters are teenagers) This is quite doubtful of something that is not on the list. I just want to run my own way and I was correcting. Thoughts?
Edited by tidowoopenMusic.BlackstarAlbum gushing Music
I landed on ★ on a whim and I discovered a bit of gushing on the description and the tropes page, mostly related to how much praise it's gotten over years. I'm betting this is due to David Bowie kicking the bucket shortly after its release.
While I did find the description toned down now due to the post I made on the gushing cleanup thread, there's some tropes on the page that still stick out to me, mainly due to troping him as a person rather than the album.
- Bittersweet Ending: "I Can't Give Everything Away" is this to the album as well as David Bowie's career as a whole. He was eaten away by liver cancer, not knowing what his fate would be while recording ★, and died of the disease shortly after the album's release, but was still able to end things off with one hell of a bang.
- Dying Moment of Awesome: Bowie recorded ★ while battling a terminal case of cancer, which took his life two days after this album's official release.
- Face Death with Dignity: The album is essentially Bowie doing this, taking his impending death from cancer and turning it into a work of art.
Bittersweet Ending is NRLEP, but Dying Moment of Awesome and Face Death with Dignity might need to be looked over in the RL matinence thread for being gushy about people dying.
