Edit war on YMMV.A Twisted Tale
- Violet Parrfan 1989 adds an unapproved Complete Monster entry for Syndrome on the page
- I delete it for not being approved
- Parfan adds it again
resolved Who counts as a SilverFox?
I am a little confused on who counts as a Silver Fox / Silver Vixen. Do they have to have grey/white hair because I've seen characters listed as this trope who are older (and attractive) but who dye their hair so they don't have grey or white hair? And also—I suspect this doesn't count but I've seen characters who fall under this category listed anyway so I figure I'll ask—do people who are not old (eg in their 30s or so) but have hair that's greyed early and are still seen as attractive count as this trope too?
Edited by DeathsApprenticeopenTravis4205
On YMMV.One Piece, Travis4205 has added the GBA adatptation, which would be fine, if not for some messy formatting, zce, lack of capitalization and odd intensifiers. Already sent them a formatting notifier 2 hours ago, but it seems they have missed it. Other edits may need another look.
openI am second thinking this edit
So, on YMMV.Dead Boy Detectives 2024, I changed the following pothole from this:
- Paynland: [[FanPreferredCouple Edwin/Charles]]
To this:
- Paynland: [[OneTruePairing Edwin/Charles]]
I did so because Fan-Preferred Couple has a one month waiting period which has not passed for this show. However, now I am wondering, does that apply to potholes or just entries? If it is the latter I could change it back.
openCross-regional troping
Is it possible to trope a work that has certain parts only available in certain countries?
Edited by Rainbo6open WomenAreWiser wonk?
I noticed there's one user surname4u who's going around editing many Women Are Wiser examples, either deleting them or moving them into other entries, always citing misuse. But the tropes they move the example to seem a bit of a shoehorn to me, the majority being moved to Only Sane Man when that's clearly not the dynamic as it involves more than two people (Examples: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) or Straight Man which is a comedic routine (Examples: 1.
I couldn't find any recent Women Are Wiser discussion or clean up, but this focus on removing a female trope alarmed me. Is this something to worry about? Or am I just wrong and the moves they're doing are correct?
Edited by BlackMage43openFreeman's Mind's namespace Web Original
The Freeman's Mind is in the WebVideo/ namespace, but is described as a Machinima.
When the Machinima/ namespace was discontinued, I thought all these works were moved to WebAnimation/. Should Freeman's Mind be moved?
Same question as for the Leeroy Jenkins Video, in fact.
openToo many "Enemies to lovers"
In the Trope Finder, I've noticed that from October 2023 we've had 3 different instances of a troper making a post titled "Enemies to lovers", with no further explaination added. They are almost always ignored.
What's interesting is that it's not the same troper spamming the same half-baked question every time. Each time it was a different troper, all making the same style of post. Should I be concerned or not?
I made a screenshot of it, but I have yet to learn how to upload images here.
openMaking pages green links
I added Film. The Lone Ranger to Ambiguity Index, as it was basically a disambiguation page already, but it seems that just adding pages to that index isn't enough to make the links colored green as opposed to the default blue. How exactly is this done?
openDoes Tech Wishlist only work on tech feature wishes with a certain number of votes?
I have looked on this site, but I can't find anything that tells me anything about this. I was only asking because I requested something about video examples. Someone came up with an idea of how it could work, which seemed to be a good idea, but it only has 1 vote. So as far as I am aware, nothing has been done. I just wanted to find out if that is the issue, that's all.
openMe TV Toons has its own channel now. What to do?
Make a new topic on the forums, or ask a mod to rename the thread about the block to be about the new channel?

Edited by WarJay77openPossible Edit War in Despicable Me 4? Western Animation
- Mepsipax adds this entry for They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot.
- Venomous Seal deletes it because the trope "isn't supposed" to be added until "three days after the movie's released".
- Ilove Cookies 875 readds the entry without explanation.
Is this an Edit War? Because while it doesn't follow the back-and-forth adding and removing of the same entry by two different tropers, They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot is not under No Recent Examples, Please!, so I'm not sure either if the entry should stay.
openWhat's the minimum number of fan works needed for a work's FanWorks page?
I'm thinking of reviving The Amazing Digital Circus fan work page, which was originally cut because of having only one work page. However, now the series has three: The Jester Sleeps Tonight, The Amazing Digital Circus: Freakshow AU and Friday Night Amazing Digital: Funk Off Reality.
Should I revive it or is it too soon?
openGrammar Issues from Troper
I've sent ~Lazuli21 three messages for grammar errors on the Emmie And Friends pages, but they haven't corrected themselves and continue to make errors in edits. They're a new editor, but gentle correction isn't working. It's mostly run on sentences and spelling that isn't corrected.
A quick scan of their edit history shows that it's an issue on other pages they've edited.
ETA: Correction: not a new editor.

openMebrouk
Mebrouk has been on the wiki for about a year, but recently attracted some attention by adding a (now yoinked) image to Your Terrorists Are Our Freedom Fighters. Given the page's subject matter, you can guess what sort of conflict the image was referencing. Well, they were sent a notifier for it, but I'm concerned that this may not be enough. Their other edits are all also very political and have been that way since the very beginning.
Animation. The Child And The Invader is a page made and only edited by them. For the most part it squeaks by, but there's a repeated use of the word "Zionist".
They added weirdly political natter on the trivia page of the Barbie Movie.
Finally, the one that made me make this report was another edit made just today on UsefulNotes.Javier Milei, which reads:
And then they edited it to add an Axe-Crazy pothole (a NRLEP trope).
They also seem to have bad grammar, capitalizing words like "They" every time and sometimes forgetting punctuation.
resolved Notifier question
So...I'm gonna be away from home for a while due to a family event, meaning I won't be near my computer. Given something important could come up, say, someone here has a question or I'm summoned to a thread, that's very hard to do when constantly on the move or even impossible when I'm away from the phone.
Would it be ok for me to just put a notice on my troper page to give a bit of a heads up? I initially did but I got a little worried that I wasn't supposed to.
Edited by Stardust5099
Recently, a valid example of Double Standard Rape: Female on Male was removed from the Fallout 3 page. It involves a female character using mutated queen ant pheromones (which are explicitly called an aphrodisiac) to seduce a priest who has taken a vow of celebacy. If you provide her with the pheromones during the quest, the game gives you Good Karma, emphasizing the "double standard" part.
I added it back with an explanation on how/why it fits the trope (I did not add it initially, so it's not an edit war), but out of curiousity, checked the page's history on that trope. It has been deleted and added back, deleted and added back, two other times.
As mentioned in my most recent add-back, I obviously feel that it is a valid example as a woman is using a chemical to impact the decision making of man with the explicit intent of getting him to break his vow of celebacy (the "rape" part), and then the game gives you Good Karma for helping her to do that (the "double standard" part).
I'd like to get some kind of consensus decision and add a link to that entry (commented out) explaining that it is valid and should stay to avoid future situations like this.
