Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

openSkyrim beginners guide
Would it be possible to get a copy of the 'Skyrim beginners guide' ? Me and a bunch of other people put a lot of work into it and like to preserve it in some way. Also I'd like to know what rules it violated so I can maybe make a version that is in compliance with those rules.
openFanmade content in moments pages Videogame
I’ve seen word going around that discussing fan-made content is generally looked down upon in moments subpages. However, I’ve also seen many pages — like the TF2 subpages — that have vast sections dedicated to fan content that have gone untouched. Should those sections be deleted anyways? And is this “no fan content” rule down in writing somewhere?
Edited by NotsofriendlyopenOur Vampires Are Different - Playing With
A few years ago, I made a Playing With page for Our Vampires Are Different. (PlayingWith. Our Vampires Are Different) I noticed something added some time ago:
- Exaggerated:
- The vampires in Alice Vs Dracula follow the Classical Movie Vampire template to perfection, but the vampires in Bob, the Vampire Hunter have so few similarities, they practically shouldn't be called vampires.
- Everyone in the world of Alice Vs Dracula drinks blood, to the point calling someone a vampire would be redundant.
The first point was added by me when I created the page. The second was added later by Mhazard. The issue I have is that it seems to be based on the Trope Decay version of the trope, which is essentially "vampires exist in this work". Would it be okay to remove this bit?
open Troper Ken10
Hey, can somebody observe this troper: Ken 10. He's been making quite a mess on some of the X Meets Y pages (and look at his edit history), namely on the Live Action TV Characters Super Sentai The New Tens, Live Action TV Characters Kamen Rider Reiwa Phase 1. Because I'm starting to have a hunch if it's a sockpuppet account of someone who made similar editing patterns who was already suspended is making a ban evasion attempt. I don't know if this is a sockpuppet of Dahmier 18, whose last sockpuppet account is Dadaku 19.
Edited by ThePatopenWhat's the deal with Avatar and the Airbending Fellowship?
I stumbled on JustForFun.Avatar And The Airbending Fellowship Of Vampire Slayers and I don't understand it. Is it supposed to be a parody or something?
openTitanverse Invalid?
Spoilers for Crisis on Infinite Earths (2019), but its revealed that Titans and Doom Patrol (2019) take place on separate. The Titansverse namespace was created on the pretense that both series were interconnected but it wasn't the case. Does this make it invalid?
Edited by WhirlRXopenPlagiarism?
NOTE: Not sure if this query can be made public or should be private. Apologies in advance if my assumption that it can be public is erroneous.
The Crappy Games Wiki article on Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels has a Development section that has copied verbatim the description body (starting with the second paragraph) of this wiki's page on the same game. Here's the edit that initiated the infringement, followed by another edit which adds more copied info. Both edits were made in April 8, while the text you currently see in our article is based on a revision done last year in September (by me, if that's relevant). The most glaring oversight on their part is that "Hard Mode Filler" is written with those capital letters, signaling that they didn't bother to turn them into lowercase, as they were originally wiki-worded here.
EDIT: Some misplaced verbs removed to avoid confusion.
Edited by MyFinalEditsopenTitansverse characters pages
I edited pages there a few days ago and classified them based on their respective shows (Titans and Doom Patrol) because they were respectively classified under "Earth-9" (the Titans characters) and "Earth-21" (the ones from Doom Patrol) which are Arrowverse (a separate DC Comics TV franchise) designations. I gave a reason in the edits stating the respective properties may have their own designations (as evident in Smallville, which has their own "Earth-2" that is clearly not the same as both the pre and post crisis Arrowverse versions. The properties' respective Word of God also said something similar) but they were reverted back without any explanation.
I was planning on restoring them but, you know, don't wanna start an Edit War so I decided to come here first.
You could view the edit histories for clarifications: Sample #1, Sample #2, Sample #3, Sample #4.

Does anyone know the source for the image on Wingdinglish? theres no link or note
openGrammar issues + plagiarism + duplicate pages
alifshin has exhibited consistent problems with grammar in their edits to various Kamen Rider pages. I sent them a notifier related to edits on Characters.Kamen Rider Zero One Hiden Intelligence in August 8th, which has clearly gone unheeded as I had to send them a notifier again today for poor grammar in Film.Kamen Rider Zero One Others Metsuboujinrai.
While digging through their edits, I have also noticed, aside from poor grammar, them plagiarizing episode summaries from wikis, and correcting the wiki word for a recap page (which was missing a word) but completely neglecting to actually move content and potholes over, thus leading tropers (me included) to end up expanding the page with the wrong wiki word.
On a related note, they are also a Serial Tweaker and seem to have frequent issues with Data Vampires, though I'm not sure if that's as relevant to my case as the above issues.
openPossible fanfic page "ownership" issue
Happened to look at the Cut List and see that Muse Hysteria and its Trivia subpage are listed, with the reason of "fanfic is being retooled". The page looks like a stub, but all its content was just removed by HotmanX32, who, it turns out, is also the author. The story itself does seem to still exist.
openFavorite Tropes Page
Is there a way I can display/talk about my favorite tropes on my TV Tropes profile?
openNo Title
Jeopardy! has had multiple commented out examples regarding the guest hosts. I'm pretty sure this isn't allowed.
Edit history for the page in question.
Sorry if this isn't important.
openPosthumous credits
I was wondering, should actors receive credits for roles filmed after their death with digital recreation?
In other words, should Peter Cushing get a film credit for Rogue One?
openDork Age question Web Original
Do websites with poor design, poor user interfaces and difficult-to-use search engines qualify as being an example of a Dork Age, even if the content was good?
I was going to put as examples:
- During The New '10s, the BBC's website was seen as being too much of a "walled garden" and difficult to use, with poor design and over-use of HTML tables on some pages when DIV was largely replacing tables, except in specialised contexts. Also, the standard of news reporting was seen as substandard, but we won't go into the finer detail.
- Autotrader.co.uk was seen as fairly dull and difficult to use from 2013-2018, and then the redesign which started in 2019 and is still ongoing, was controversial, although they attempted to Win Back the Crowd around autumn 2019 with their softer, rounded design of the website's look and in-house AT Fabriga font with its single-storey lowercase a◊, not the double-storey lowercase a, in an attempt to make their website look friendlier, although this has caused debate amongst users over the redesign. Technologically, the site is quite good, esthetically, it's controversial.
- CNN's redesign during 2007-2013 was largely seen as a low point for them, partially as they'd tried to Follow the Leader for design of their site, and it was a tumultous era anyway as they covered Bush - Obama transition and the Great Recession; but we won't get into that. The website's layout and user-friendliness were seen as weak by comparison to rivals, although it was something of a Broken Base amongst hardcore politics' fans who relied on CNN/Fox etc.
In general, would this fit under Web Original or is this a difficult topic to cover for the site as web original content?
Edited by Merseyuser1openQuotes/FridayNightFunkin
The quotes page for Friday Night Funkin' is currently only used for listing the game's various Couch Gags - wouldn't this fit better in a CouchGag.Friday Night Funkin page?
I don't know if this counts as an Edit War, but troper ssbob90 clearly has some editing issues on Characters.Genshin Impact Liyue. Courtesy link here.
