openEdit War on Historical Hero Upgrade
I think we have an edit war on Historical Hero Upgrade. The entry on Straight Outta Compton had a bullet mentioning how most of the other NWA members didn't actually reconcile with Eazy-E before his death. This bullet was removed by Peterpol 94 with the reason of "work". I added it back... and they removed it again, using the same one-word reason.
I think the bullet should be added back, but I don't want to continue the edit war, so I'm bringing it up here.
openNo Title
I have sent Harrythe Ha repeated notifiers for indexing and grammar, but they never index any of the pages they create, they have poor grammar and they also always make the example lists out of alphabetical order (see Freddy Freaker, and Volleyball and Coffee, which I fixed). Haircut is the newest one and it has all of the same problems as the others.
Edited by Walkinshadowsopen60 years of Fantastic Four
Marvel has just released a comic titled "The Fantastic Four Anniversary Tribute". It has the same content of Fantastic Four #1 and Fantastic Four Annual Three, done by modern artists instead of the originals by Jack Kirby, each one having a page. And when I say "the same content", I mean literally the same: same scenes, same events, same dialogs (it is, after all, a tribute to the original, it's not meant to be a comic of its own).
Now, if the comic was a recreation of one comic, I would simply make a redirect to the original one and explain it there. Being a line-by-line recreation it hardly has any tropes of its own, all their tropes are shared. But it is a recreation of two comics, with their own specific pages. Should I still make a redirect to the #1, explain things there, and then add a link to Annual #3; or should I make a regular page and instead of tropes add a note "For tropes see here and here"?
openvideo examples on a namespace other tham "Main/"
so on Girls' Frontline: Assault Rifles there's a video example on the bottom, which seems a bit weird for visibility's sake. every other video example i've seen on this site is on the main page except this one. is that kosher or just a random oddity? closest thing that i could find that answers this is on a sandboxed version of Uploading New Videos (which says that it isn't kosher).
openIghodaloandre45
Ighodaloandre45 has a string of poor grammar edits, which they don't bother rectifying when notified.
Edited by rileybrant20openUnfortunate Implications situation / false notifier
Today, Mareon added an Unfortunate Implications entry to the main page of a work, seemingly without any citations, which, As You Know, are required in any Unfortunate Implications entry. I promptly removed it for two reasons, A) it's a YMMV trope, so it shouldn't be on the main page, and B) it's an Unfortunate Implications entry without citations. Almost immediately after I removed it, Mareon sent me a notifier for a "general example", linked to the edit in which I removed an example. I fail to see how removing a misused and misplaced trope is somehow a violation of Examples Are Not General.
Edited by Shadow8411openSeperating the first entry from the franchise page.
I would like to separate Pikmin 1 and Dead Soace 1 from their respective franchise pages. I already created said page for Dead Space but it’s still listed in conjunction with the franchise while Pikmin doesn’t have a franchise page, keeping me from doing the split. How can I get a mod’s attention to do the splits?
Edited by TheLivingDrawingopenSeasonal Rot: Akazukin Chacha
The entry on Seasonal Rot for Akazukin Chacha seems a bit complaint filled, arguing that it feels that the Transformation Sequence segments bog the show down. While this is an issue, and the transformation sequence for this show is longer than most as Chacha grows stronger, there is still a significant portion of episodes before it happens, so to single out one part of the show seems complainy. Not to mention that, as someone who watches the series, the first bit of the segment is sped up a bit.
open TRS Crowner
The TRS thread for Something Completely Different has an active crowner. If you'd like to cast a vote, now is the time to do so.
Please don't respond to this post; this is simply to inform.
openCamp trope question
Before I create a Playing With page, should Camp be counted as a trope that can be played with or not?
open TRS Crowner
There is an active crowner for Hollywood Nerd at the Trope Repair Shop. If inclined to join the discussion, do so here.
This is only an announcement; please do not reply to this query.
openDongwaChan still wonks
Dongwa Chan hasn't really learned from their suspension, because they're still wonking over things over at the forums. Specifically, right now they seem to be campaigning against every single reviewer page quote.
They also apparently still want us to ban outdated references, a fight which has not worked the past two times they argued for it.
One other thing that bothers me but isn't a wonk-related issue is that they'll post about pages that have a lot of gushing / complaining, and then do nothing to fix them, often re-posting their issue again if nobody fixed the problem. They don't do anything themselves, they ask other people to check the pages and fix them, often asking if "anybody has looked at the page yet". There's a lot of posts to this effect on the Gushing and Complaining threads. This isn't something that only they do (link dumping is a huge problem on project threads in general), but in tandem with their other issues, I feel the need to bring it up.
Admittedly, said previous suspension didn't really address all the issues brought up here and only really touched on the Commonwealth Spellings issue and their Edit Warring... so I guess a relapse isn't that shocking.
Edited by WarJay77openSeasonalRot misuse?
YMMV.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003
- Seasonal Rot:
- Season 5 is divisive: many people felt it did a good job wrapping up the remaining plot threads from the previous season, while others felt it was overly gimmicky and too much of an anime/Avatar ripoff, abandoning the series' original roots of being influenced primarily by the original Mirage comics. All that being said, Season 5 is still much better received compared to Fast Forward and Back To The Sewers due to having a Darker and Edgier plot in the form of the Demon Shredder, exploring the martial arts lineage of Master Yoshi and The Ancient One in the Ninja Tribunal, maintaining the same level of animation and artwork from the first four seasons, giving final closure to the Master Yoshi subplot, and generally having an epic Series Finale feel to top everything off.
This feels more like a Broken Base or Contested Sequel entry than one for Seasonal Rot. Should I move this to one of those reactions instead? Really, Season 6 and 7 is where most people agree the show took a turn for the worst; not Season 5.
Edited by PlasmaPoweropenEdit War on VideoGame.EldenRing
I brought this up on the unreleased works thread, but haven't gotten a response. Crossposting here to get more eyeballs on the matter. The issue is this entry on VideoGame.Elden Ring:
- Lighter and Softer: Downplayed, but compared to the other games directed by Miyazaki, the area seen in the network test is positiviely Ghibli-esque,. Whereas the settings of Lordran, Lothric and Yharnam were rotten and dying, the Lands Between are positively brimming with life and light, even if it's only one area. It's still dotted with the ruins of old kingdoms and civilization is clearly on its last legs, but the world itself is doing just fine.
Lighter and Softer is a trope about the overall tone of an entire work, and therefore it seems to me that one would need the entire work to know whether it applies, which we don't have, as the game hasn't been released yet. I deleted it, and troper ~Sana Naryon restored it with the edit reason, "We get to see a portion of the map in the network test, which is far lighter and softer than any area in any other soulsborn game."
So, we've got a couple of potential issues. First, there's no citation in the example text telling where this comes from. Second, I'm skeptical that it's a trope that can be included at all based on preview footage; it's inherently speculative. And third, since Sana Naryon was the person who added it in the first place, restoring it without discussion is an Edit War.
Edited by MaiBaloneyopenStub character pages
Pretty much all the character pages for VideoGame.Blue Archive are empty stubs. Looking at the history, they were all created by Tropers.Saphy Beam, and any of the pages that have content had it added by other people. I sent a stub notifier, but I figured a report was a good idea
EDIT: They've responded to the notifier and we set up a date for them to make the pages not stubs by. Not sure any further action is necessary
Edited by LibraryseraphopenCreator involvement tropes.
There seems to be a problem distinguishing the Directed by Cast Member and Descended Creator tropes.
I've seen Descended Creator described as being for smaller parts, but I believe this is wrong since Creator Cameo already exists.
What are the differences exactly, and in which situation does each apply?
Edited by StFan
Not sure if this is the right place to be asking/reporting this, but over the past few days I've gotten massive slowdown and "lag" when editing pages: I'll begin typing a sentence and the browser will more or less freeze for upwards of half a minute before "unfreezing" to show what I typed.
Is anyone else having this problem? I'm on Windows 10 and the latest version of Google chrome, if that helps; no similar issues on other sites and making forum/ATT posts doesn't cause this issue. Seems related to page length.
EDIT: Open bug report on the issue found, discussion should probably move there.
