Pages with oversized pics

I resized it.

Is there a reason you chose that size in particular...? Seems a little small now.

To be perfectly honest, I reduced its size in half out of habit. Is it better now?

I was going to right-allign Amblimation, but it's apparently over the limit as well. The Kingdom Keepers as well.

The Sugar Creek Gang pic is a little on the small side, but with the short description it's OK. I've right-aligned and resized .

The Deep End, Cupid, The Skeptics Guide To The Universe, Brothers & Sisters, Dersu Uzala all have oversized pics. I'm thinking we should have a standard notifier message for these.

Kind of like "No Real Life examples, please". Yeah, that could work.

The image in Hiimdaisy is really big but I'm more concerned with it not being a good work image (I have seen funnier and selfdemostrating images here on the wiki). What do you guys say, should I start a new thread or just resize it and call it a day?

^^^ No, I don't mean a policy page; How to Pick a Good Image is pretty clear on the size restrictions. It might be helpful if there was an edit notifier to inform contributors about oversized images that clearly exceed at least the maximum width.

Found some more pics on Persons Unknown, October Road, The Naked Brothers Band, Living Single, Life Unexpected, Kid Nation, and LG15: the resistance.

Seems like drewski wants to allow large images to be uploaded, but shrunk to 350 by the article. Does anyone else think that's a good idea?

I mean, I've stated repeatedly that I'm alright with the article page doing the resizing as long as we're meeting some appropriate file size limitation (somewhere between 200KB, our old one, and 1MB, our newer one).

That seems like a good solution.

I expressed myself badly, what I meant was to create something like the little message that appears while editing pages that don't allow real life examples but I guess your idea would be better.

I'm very firmly against the idea. The wiki shouldn't have to do the legwork of making pics the appropriate size, plus I worry about artifacts being introduced by the size reduction.

I agree. It's also a waste of bandwidth.

There are several downsides, and the only benefit is that we don't have to resize images, which doesn't take that long anyway. I don't think it's a good idea. If it's made for something like image links where large images isn't a problem, it's one thing, but not page images.

The image that was just removed from The Kingslayer is 380 KB. I don't think there is a file size limit right now. (Also, the page displays the equivalent of about 10% of that size.)

Sanford is over the limit.

Resized Iroh in Western Animation and cropped a small black line that was in its left side.

Also, I resized Sanford and LG15: the resistance.

Namie Yagiri's pic in Characters.Durarara Anime Supporting is more than half the entire page's width.

Fixed it and every other image there.

Hoo boy, I found the motherload on a Wiki Walk earlier today. The majority of images on the One Piece character sheets are breaking all the rules of size.

The Tale of the Exile, Cutey Honey The Live, and The Great Beauty have oversized pics. The second is also a bit questionable.
