My only complaint is that where are the goddamn noses?!
Rolling Girls is basically running full speed towards that interesting kind of failure that anime originals are prone to. It's trying to do a lot of different things (moe, action, camp, world-building) and has staff not entirely suited to it. I'd be pretty surprised if it congeals into a cohesive whole, but it'll probably be worth watching regardless
Hylarn-style preview, because why the hell not:
Basic premise is pretty standard LN fare (school for super-powered kids) with no real attempts to stand out. It does look like it's not going to be a pure power fantasy or ecchi series, so at least it's inoffensive?
For anyone on the fence about watching the second season (and not caught up on what's been released since the end of last season) , promotional material shows Saazbaum, Inaho, and Asseylum alive
One of Jump's biggest series, consistently near the top of the rankings, and selling well. I have no idea why this is a late-night anime. Anywho, while generally well-liked, there's also complaints of it being repetitive
Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE!
Magical boys. Clearly aimed at fujoshi, but looks self-aware enough that it may be able to find a broader audience. Main thing to worry about is the budget, which tends not to be high for this sort of thing
Game-like battles for the afterlife. Kind of reminiscient of Hell Girl... which is often accused of being repetitive
Dog Days''
Appears to be taking after Dash rather than the first season. And they're swearing up and down they'll actually focus on Nanami this time. This should be enough for you to know if you're going to watch it
Durarara x2 Shou
It's a sequel
Direct sequel to Fafner in the Azure: Dead Aggressor. I understand it was fairly popular but didn't care for it myself. Might be worth catching up on if you want an Eva-like?
THE iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls
Most of the same staff as the original Idolmaster anime, which I understand is pretty well regarded. And with a new cast nothing is stopping you from jumping on this one
I'm given to understand that the manga's main draw is being fanservicey. Remains to be seen if the anime will tone it down or censor it (and if the uncensored version will air anywhere. It does have an AT-X airing, though)
Jojos Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders Egypt Chapter
You already know if you're watching this
This has a lot of things going for it! Probably best to watch the first episode even if it doesn't entirely sound appealing to you
It's good that more shoujo anime are getting made? I don't know what to say about direct sequels
If you like moe series you should probably watch this. High production values and the writer of a lot of popular cute series
It's a Manga Time Kirara series. We can expect cuteness, lesbianism, and some jokes. Also a Shaft series, so there's going to be some surrealism and oddball fanservice (actually, they're open about eating being eroticized)
The fujoshi should be happy?
Like I said above, this should be an interesting failure
One of those self-aware romance series that actively play with tropes in a somewhat realistic manner, from what I gather
Same staff as that special from earlier this year. I have no idea if that's a good thing
Seems to be pretty standard LN fare with an overpowered protagonist
It's selling itself on fanservice. From the author of Ichiban Ushiro No Daimaou, which is good. The PV appears to be playing that "My arm is twitching" chuuni thing entirely straight, which is bad
Shounen Hollywood - Holly Stage for 50 -
Did anyone watch the first season?
Tantei Kageki Milky Holmes TD
Apparently mostly ignoring the third series
Tokyo Ghoul √A
A sequel
Tsukimonogatari
I imagine you'd need a guide at this point if you're trying to catch up with the series
Only boy with superpowers, magic school, Naked First Impression, imouto, dragons, every LN cliche you can think of
I'm not sure how much this has to do with the original. The synopsis I saw includes a lot of elements that don't sound familiar. On the plus side, a lot of the wild anime reimaginings have turned out pretty well
It's going to be a drug trip with lesbians and bears

I'm very wary of anime originals after the clusterfuck that was the Samurai Flamenco/Galilei Donna combo.
If I knew how I know everything I know, I'd only be able to know half as much because my brain would be clogged up with where I know it from
Weirdly enough, while seemingly returning to the goofiness of season 1 and 2, previews indicates that it also considers the 3rd series canon. How that makes ANY sense is beyond me, but I'm just going with Galaxy Angel logic instead.

I want Boueibu in me so~ bad! It looks to be the sort of guilty fun that i've been craving since Meganebu!
@Hylarn: From what I've seen from the Absolute Duo manga, there isn't really much fanservice. The point the scans stopped at though, it seems that there'll be some attempt to mix some mystery in, along with a few deathmatches.
Other stuff I didn't mention.
Handsome High School Earth Defence Club Love!: Fucking look at that promo art. I mean, take a good fucking look at that preview art◊! I honestly thought there was only one man in the picture and even then I was not very sure of that. I mean, did you really want me to think that pink haired guy with a goddamn hoop is a man!?
Gender bending character design and nonsensical title aside, the director did Gintama, Gundam X, Daily Lives of Highschool Boys and School Rumble. He's a great comedy director, and maybe, this will actually be really funny. I also like how unapologetic this is about being fujioshi-bait, so there's that.
Durarara!!x2 Shou: Why the hell did Durarara take so long to get a sequel!? Anyway, more Durarara. I'll take it, please.
Tokyo Ghoul SQRT(A): I'll just wait for this to come out uncensored then marathon it.
The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls: Idols bleurgh
Sokyu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor: Exodus: Did anyone actually watch the first Fafner? I mean, when did Fafner come out? It was fucking 2004. Nobody gave a shit about the 2010 movie; what was XEBEC thinking when they decided someone would give a shit about it now?
Shōnen Hollywood – Holly Stage for 50: The first one sold like fuck all, so why did anyone think a second one was needed?
Kamisama Kiss◎: Yes yes yes yes yes YES! More Kamisama Kiss! Finally! My favorite shoujo in recent memory, finally gets the love it deserves in the form of a sequel! If you haven't watched Kamisama Kiss, watch it now. You will not be disappointed.
I'd actually like to say more, but it'd be like 5 paragraphs of gushing.
Kuroko's Basketball: Thanks, I.G., for bringing back Kuroko! Now I won't have to fill the void with my 145,089 Kuroko/Kagami yaoi fanfics.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders 2: I've never understood Japan's fascination with Part 3 and Jotaro Kujo. Kujo is easily the most boring Jo Jo of them all. Joseph Joestar is a much better Jo Jo. Anyway, the anime managed to be fun anyway despite Kujo sticking out like a sore thumb, so of course I'm seeing this.
Aldnoah.Zero 2: slaine sux lolololololololol

Defense Club's director did Daily Lives of High School Boys? Great, I loved that show. Now I'm really looking forward to this.
Split cour. It was always going to be this long
My understanding is that it was intended to come out much closer to the movie, but had production difficulties
edited 11th Dec '14 6:13:27 PM by Hylarn
I wonder if said production difficulties were "internal arguing over whether anyone would give a crap about a new Fafner".
Wasn't this supposed to not be an ecchi series?
Okay, who the fuck is making this?
Hand me that molotov...
Mmm. Fanservice.
Ah, so I was right in dismissing it with a bunch of blibble noises.
There goes my hope for a action series without needless fanservice.
No fanservice? In a LN adaptation?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Toradora and Log Horizon didn't have much in the way of fanservice.
Neither did Durarara or Baccano.
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!Yes, I know about that. I was being facetious.
Urg, that took long enough
So, Jojo has an airdate (the 9th) now, effectively completing the list
So, let's see those watch lists, people!
Fall leftovers and sequels
- Parasyte: Migi best girl 2014
- GARO: The Animation: Live your life in a series of heavy metal covers: that's the GARO way.
- Yowapeda: Grande Road: I just enjoy this one quietly. I don't talk about it for one reason or another.
-
Hak & Ki-Ja's Excellent AdventureYona of the Dawn: Why did this series got me so hooked up? It just did. - Kamisama Kiss 2: YES YES YES! [3 paragraphs of gushing expunged] So, why do I like Kamisama Kiss so much? I just do. Of course I'm seeing Kamisama Kiss 2.
- Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders Egypt Arc: As long as it sells, it'll probably adapt the entire manga. This means that Vento Aureo and Diamond Is Unbreakable, my favorite parts, will get adapted. Yes! I will see the shenanigans of Josuke Higashikata be animated!
- Aldnoah.Zero 2: slaine sux lol
- Kuroko no Basuke 3: All hail Ho Yay
Definitely watching
- Yuri Kuma Arashi: Utena and Penguindrum are amongst my favorite anime of all time. Good to know Ikuhara is back directing anime. Like I said before (god, I hate repeating myself), it seems so utterly bizarre it's impossible to actually form an opinion on it, like Shirokuma Cafe or Gugure! Kokkuri-san. But those turned out to be excellent, so maybe this will too. Bizarre comedies and me have had a good track record, so...
- Death Parade: I thought the shitfest that was The Irregular at Magic High School was the deathbed for Madhouse. But No Game No Life and Parasyte kind of turned around my opinion, so they're back at "favorite anime studio", tied with their offshoot MAPPA , and proving that hyperbole is something I just subconsciously do. Anyway, this seems like Billiards are Serious Fucking Business and also a bit of horror, and the animation is also kind of amazing, so I'm watching this.
- Koufuku Graffiti: It's basically the Nisemonogatari toothbrush scene for 12 episodes. Anime of the year.
- Maria the Virgin Witch: Because I loved the manga and also because I.G. is animating it.
Will give a try:
- Rolling Girls: To be 100% honest, I still don't know what the hell this series is about.
- Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love!: Fujioshi bait was never this blatant, Diomedea. The animation in the P Vs was absolutely and shockingly godawful, but it has a strong staff behind it, so maybe it'll be at least good.
- Saekano: noitaminA I believe in you
Unlikely, but maybe I'll give it a shot if I'm really bored:
- Any shitty fucking interchangeable LN bullshit: Hahahahaha no.
Wow. My watchlist is really small compared to last season.

Well, that looks like... quite... something.
