When it comes to Sony, Little Big Planet and Uncharted, easily.
I also think Bioshock will cited in the future as a great game.
Mass Effect 3 will probably be remembered for the controversy.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Super Mario Galaxy
Skyrim will almost certainly be remembered. If not for its own merits, then certainly for "Fus Ro Dah" and the "arrow in the knee".
Sonic 2006 for being infamously bad.(even if it's not actually the worst game of the franchise by far, although it's a contender for one of the least popular, respectively)
Brawl will still be remembered as one of the biggest crossovers that left the fanbase mostly happy with the roster. I'd say Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3, but the removal of Mega Man really hit hard far more than the removal of some of Melee characters in Brawl.(well, removal of Pichu, and the rest not being finished, quite specifically)
Possibly Super Mario 64 DS for being one of the biggest remakes of a game ever. Not many overhauled so much data and really changed it up from going from 1 to 4 characters and 120 to 150 stars.
The Dm C Debacle must never be forgotten lest t happen again.
Metal Gear Rising will be remembered pretty fondly.
Final Fantasy XIII will go on to divide the FF fanbase. Its super long development time really didn't help it.
Halo3 for "finishing the fight"
Halo Reach for "continuing the fight anyway"
Bayonetta for being one of the best action games to ever exist.
Talesof Vesperia will probably not be remembered to fondly for the PS 3 thing, despite it being an amazing game.
Hopefully some cult out there will remember Blue Dragon and Lost Oddesy.
PM box is Closed, Indefinitely Friend Code: 3368-4181-6850Spec Ops The Line for its deconstruction of the modern military shooter and managing to instill some discussion on the value of such a genre.
The Last Of Us for (probably) being one of the last great games for the PS 3 (unless Persona 5 comes exclusive to PS 3 2 years into the 8th gen or something).

Uncharted, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, maybe Dishonored. The Last of Us is another maybe. I believe that revivals of Deus Ex and Tomb Raider would be remembered too. But what is your opinion on indies? Would indie console games be remembered too?
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisThough I haven't played it, Braid seems to be the big indie thing of the last generation.
To the growing list I'd definately add TheOrangeBox + related, as well as most popular iOS stuff like Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja. (If any of that could be considered 7th Gen.)

Graffiti. My. Page. due eet naoWii Sports for being the first successful motion controlled video game.
I can think of a few games that'll be remembered within their own series' fanbase - the infamous Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe, Soul Calibur V (if the amount of bitching I've heard about the Time Skip is accurate).
I'll bet my left bollock people will be talking about Spec Ops The Line for quite some time to come, simply for ripping modern shooters a new one. The Assassins Creed series is also probably gonna be a good one.
Curse the ill fortune that led you to me.A lot of the Time Skip annoyance comes from them removing mostly female characters because they're too old to fight. 35's the limit. This doesn't apply to any men. Not that some haven't been removed in the past, but it was outright admitted it was a sexist-specific reason.
The other is some people hate seeing old favorites go and become movesets for the new characters.
But yeah, most of it was from the policy of how women are treated. This wasn't an issue till V.
Back onto the main topic, Mario Kart Wii for Item Spam Computers and having Fake Difficulty. But also for having Baby Daisy, some actually really cool new items, and awesome courses, plus bringing in Funky Kong. It has a fairly neutral fanbase setting of good and bad, you could say.
Don't forget how Soul Calibur V makes the Time Skip rather pointless by finding ways for most of the returning characters not to age. On the other hand, Ezio's inclusion means Link is no longer alone on the list of great Soul Calibur Guest Fighters.
Cortex should take a 12-step plan off a 10-step pierIvy's the only one I know that doesn't ever grow old in the sense of wrinkles. They certainly do a great job of her design, though.
But anyway, that's probably for either the current Video Game Sexism thread or the Soul Calibur thread.
Bayonetta.
I drink 17 cups of coffee in court.Dark Souls and Demons Souls for being really hard but fair at the same time. And the Street Fighter IV series, for proving that fighting games are not dead.

Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations for being the games where "Sonic 'finally' broke through the 'Polygon Ceiling'."
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows. The Bethesda Fallout games. Fallout 3, which had next to no input from the original makers of the franchise, and Fallout New Vegas, which had lots. Both of which are still discussed, on this forum and elsewhere, years after their release.
Also Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which explored the issues of transhumanism and how society actually copes with it at least as well if not better than the first two games in the series.
I've never personally played the game, but I'm certain Amnesia: The Dark Descent will be remembered for being one of the most crap-your-pants-tastic games of all time.
Seeing Wii Sports mentioned, I'm thinking Wii Fit will be remembered as well for it's premise and introducing the Wii Balance Board.
And Link's Crossbow Training for introducing the Wii Zapper

🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaMy list for 7th generation games that will be remembered.
- fallout 3 : Revival of a great series with a great game.
- Skyrim : This game is the most played game of ALL TIME, it has more then double the playtime of team fortress 2 which holds second place.
- The Orange Box. : TF 2, Portal, Halflife 2 all in one box? This is much easier then listing them separately.
- Brawl. : Almost every one with a wii got this game.
- Bioshock : Achivments in something... I dont know, people like it though... I just dont.
- Dishonored : Same as Bioshock.
- Mass Effect Trilogy. : Achivments in storytelling, and just great games if we ingnore the obvious elephant in the room.
- Dragon Age Origins. : One of the best fantasy RP Gs of the generation
- Deus Ex Human Revolution. : Amazing revival, with an amazing story and gameplay.
- Tomb Raider. : Revival of a beloved series.
- Halo Reach : For being the best halo game, and where they should have ended.
- Assassins Creed : For starting great, and then going more call of duty then call of duty... they have 4 assassins creed titles in development right now... not joking.
- Call of Duty : Popularity over Quality.
- Battlefeild 3 : Multiplayer shooter done right.
Okay, here's my thoughts (largely rehashing what's already been said, but whatever):
Call Of Duty - because so popular that whatever else happens, it won't be forgotten.
Assassins Creed - Never played, but a lot of my peers love it. I imagine they'll tell fond stories about it in the years to come or something.
Skyrim - More or less speaks for itself.
Mass Effect - Same reasons as above poster mentioned.
Bio Shock and Bio Shock Infinite - Achievements in storytelling and lots of people love.
Wii Sports - Everyone had it.
Uncharted - Easily one of the defining series of the PS 3.
Portal - Do I need to explain this one?
Battlefield3 - People will at least remember the fanboy wars between MW 3 and BF 3.
Dark Souls - For breaking more controllers than any other game of the generation.
Amnesia The Dark Descent and Slender The Eight Pages - For helping to bring back the survival horror genre, say what you will about the quality of the latter.
Halo: Reach for "continuing the fight anyway"
Halo 4 for making us all cry inside for Cortana.
I think that Fallout: New Vegas will be remembered better than Fallout 3. Fallout 3, in all its concept, was pretty bland and the story was forgettable. FNV was better mostly because it was made by a lot of people involved with the original games, Chris Avellone and J.E. Sawyer among them. If not for the shitty engine, it'd be perfect.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von Lewis
So I was thinking, the seventh generation of gaming is basically about to end by the end of this year. Which seems crazy to me, seeing as I was just finishing elementary school when it started.
In any case, I was thinking, of all the games of this generation from across the three consoles, which ones do you think will be remembered in the years to come? Which ones will be remembered as the games that defined the generation, whether by their popularity or by their quality?
I mean, there are certain games when we look back now at the 16-bit era, there's sort of a select group of games that are remembered and respected (or reviled) more than others. For instance, among several others, Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid for the PS 1; Super Mario World and A Link To The Past (and, again, several others) for the SNES; Street Fighter II for the 16-bit era in general; you get the idea.
So what do you think will hold such status a few generations down the line? Call Of Duty (for popularity if not quality?) Skyrim? Portal? Assassins Creed?
I haven't figured out my own list yet, so I'll probably come back to this.
So, yeah. Feel free to discuss, gush, rant, and celebrate the best moments of the generation in general.
