TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

Go To

Prematurely launched pages and pages that weren't fully fleshed out at the point of launching, are a big problem. Since these usually share several problems at once, this thread is aimed at re-running them through the TLP for fixing - the usual fix - or cutting them if they are too bad.

Problems this thread deals with include bad names, not enough/bad examples, unclear description, etc.

For the interested, here's a list of recently created pages. Launches

Note: Please do not request a mod to unlaunch drafts that don't have any issues besides lacking a launch notice/24hr launch notice. While 24hr launch notices are mandatory, there are a few exceptions to the rule. If you see a draft's sponsor launch a TLP without an announcement, it's best to remind them of our TLP Guidelines first. If they continue to repeatedly launch drafts without a launch notice, you can report them on Ask The Tropers or the TLP Community Issues thread.

If my message wasn't seen, I'd just like to say that I literally am unable to make a Main page, as whenever I do, it deletes itself, or turns into Darth Wiki like the first time.

Wait, back the f*ck up, you said yourself in a message I saw, quote:

reterusu: "This shouldn't be here." Septimus Heap: "Yes, and it's a repost. Locked it and will cut."

You said it twice, so was it an automatic computer function? Because reterusu said the exact same thing twice as well as you.

Responded over PM - the reason the page keeps disappearing is because it does not belong in Main/.

Otherwise, today's only work is The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August, a stub work page whose creator has been messaged.

Two more stubs:

  • Ambrov X: Work page for unpublished work, no trope list.
  • The Entity: Some odd disambiguation/work page mix with only one trope.

[up] for the second you could probably just move that trope to the work page suggested and make it a real disambiguation page, no big deal

I've messaged the creator of the first; maybe they are still around. The second page can be cut, no questions asked.

[up] There are many sources that state that there is a film in the works, but I don't think that this page would need to be made so early.

A film would then bring it to two mediums, but we require three to qualify for a Franchise page.

Aye, that page is not legal. Imma cutlist it, I figure it needs a lock and a warning in the discussion page as well.

[up] Good idea. Although knowing the series, it wouldn't surprise me if they create something by a third medium.

Concerning Hollywood Television Theatre, it's an anthology series collecting adaptations of numerous stage plays. I have only just started collecting episodes of the series. As a page, it's supposed to be similar to that of Masterpiece. I think it may be the description is too short. Or is it the list of works featured on the series that's too short? Whatever it is, I intend to rectify it to the best of my abilities.

The problem with that page is that it has no examples listed.

Then you may as well bring Masterpiece over here for a lack of examples, because Hollywood Television Theatre is as meant to have a list of examples as is Masterpiece. I'm not skirting any issue the page might have; all I'm saying is, if Masterpiece is anything to go by, I don't think a lack of examples would be a valid issue for Hollywood Television Theatre, because formatwise, the two are similar. All Masterpiece has is a description and a list of works, and I believe the same should suffice for Hollywood Television Theatre.

I would point out that Masterpiece links to a ton of pages, though, and has a more thorough description. Hollywood only links to a single page.

Not sure if that would really influence a decision, though.

Didn't Horrible Histories already have a page?

It includes some stuff from the Audio plays

No matter how long it takes, I'll create more pages for the plays adapted for Hollywood Television Theatre as I collect them on VHS or DVD. In the meantime, does anyone want to help me with the actual work on the page for the series?

I'm pretty sure the general rule is do not create bad pages in anticipation of making them better as soon as you can—wait until you can, and then make a good page to begin with.

So many times in this thread I see pages pulled in, only for the creator to say "Well [the work's not out yet]/[I'm starting to watch the work] and I'll add tropes/wicks/whatever as soon as I can."

That is exactly what the Sandbox/ namespace is for.

So redirect to the Sandbox namespace until further notice?

Speaking of Sandbox, should I move Sandbox. The Mc Laughlin Group to Series. The Mc Laughlin Group at this point? I apologize if that was off-topic, it just came to mind since the Sandbox got mentioned, and I was wondering if a page I made there was good enough for a more mainstream namespace at this point.
