...well, the alternative would be Complaining About Shows You Don't Watch.
Which also feels like a pretty safe bet.
I've watched it. I'm not Archivist, after all. They do as much scouting as the Avengers do avenging.
One wonders what would have happen if they'd been called the Sailor Sentai instead of the Sailor Senshi. Would Saban have gotten his weirdo mitts on them and called them the Sailor Rangers?
What, you don't like Rangers either? Man, you're weird.
It sounded like you were about to fire up your little hate train again.

What "little hate train"? Did I miss something?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I have no idea. Eva-unit can be so weird. It comes from not watching enough Powerful Rangers.
Among his other hobbies, Magey apparently seems to enjoy harping on about Power Rangers sucking in comparison to Super Sentai (excepting seasons that feature Tommy Oliver). He also has a murderboner for the protagonist of Kamen Rider Fourze, which nearly rivals the one he has for the lead character of A Certain Magical Index.
That "-ful" horseshit is exactly what I'm talking about.
For those of you wondering what the hell this is about: an early episode of Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger's second season was written completely to be a Take That! against the Power Rangers adaptations of Super Sentai, and also to PR fans in general. The episode in question is something of a Base Breaker.
Magey apparently loved that episode and found it to be one of the funniest things ever. I, as one that was introduced to SS via PR but still loves PR,am of a much less favorable opinion.

Then you're getting the completely opposite message of what the episode was about.
Everyone with real taste knows Sentai and Power Rangers stink just as much!
(OM voiced a incendiary, highly controversial opinion while primly tilting his nose up!)
So far I have yet to see or hear of any Japanese-made work that portrays any of the historical Emperors of Japan in a negative light
I don't think that's legal, period. Even making up a fictional Emperor of Japan and portraying him negatively is a huge no-no, apparently.
I know! I shall write a megacrossover where the Big Bad is the deviant, perverse and murderous Emperor of Japan! Maybe it'll even reach its second chapter!
(OM tackled an incendiary, highly controversial subject matter while arrogantly tilting his nose up!)
Within the context of the episode, "Powerful" Rangers is presented as a horrible abomination of a Macekre and utter perversion of the Super Sentai franchise from Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger onward. The in-show version of PR's two most iconic characters, both of whom Lawful Good Nice Guy Fettered Cape For Great Justice characters, are instead presented as totally self-centered, misogynistic, corrupt Jerkasses that only care about how their franchise is "better" than what it's adapted from. ...Basically, strawmen.
In order to revert the evil reality-warping of the week, Akiba Red is shown working his ass off in order to "purify" Tyranno Ranger and Dragon Ranger of their Americanized taint into their "true, proper" Japanese selves, who then thank him for turning them back into their Sentai selves instead of their "Powerful Ranger" selves.
At no point in the episode is this ever treated as less than a beautiful and wonderful thing, and the New Meat Akiba Blue that liked "Powerful Rangers" was happily "enlightened/converted".
You can say, out-of-universe, that the point may have been as a parody or Take That! to the Sentai purist segments of the fandom. But In-Universe, it instead glorifies the hardcore Super Sentai purist's With Us or Against Us attitude.
At best, the episode is a string of jokes that few people took as being jokes. At worst, it deliberately serves to alienate huge segments of the international SS/PR fandom.
I completely acknowledge that the 90's dub of Sailor Moon generally sucks and is a trainwreck, and that watching the new dub or even the original subbed version would probably be a totally different experience. I still enjoy watching that shitty dub anyway.

Now, jokes aside, that sounds really awful.
Well, what can you do when someone deliberately sets out to enjoy shit? Scat fetishists can't be reasoned with.
If it puts things in context, the guy who wrote the episode is a regular sentai writer whose scripts are often recycled in Powerful Rangers. However, they never mention/acknowledge his contribution in the credits, despite the point-by-point copies. Put up with that for years...
The guy is justified in being a little snippy.

For something actually relevant to the thread at hand...
Hrm...
Since we're on the topic, why not a shared-universe fic of Sailor Moon with the early seasons of Power Rangers.
Zordon is one of Queen Serenity's allies from another galaxy (or maybe something like her Prime Minister), who stepped in to help defend the Milky Way from evil after that shitstorm in the backstory, while Rita Repulsa is another one of Lord Zedd's Negaverse generals alongside Queen Beryl (Rita was originally assigned to take over the sector where Earth is, but then got imprisoned in a space dumpster, so now Beryl has the job. ...and then a couple of unwitting astronauts manage to unseal Rita...)
When the two evil space bitches start hatching schemes and trying to take over the Earth, Zordon and Luna have a quick little pow-wow, and decide that Zordon will form a team of Power Rangers as an emergency measure to stall for more time so that Luna can manage to track down and activate the reincarnations of Princess Serenity's elite royal guard, the Sailor Scouts.
As Rita and Beryl begin to prove ineffectual against the dozen or so teenaged do-gooders that oppose them, Lord Zedd starts running out of patience, and visits the Earth himself.
And so on and so on, with the two franchises storylines intermingling and running more-or-less concurrently on a season-by-season basis and otherwise intermingling.
Anyone think there's potential?

Wow, that's... actually not a bad idea.
(goes off to steal it since he knows Eva-unit will never be able to write fast enough to post the story before him)
Bitch, please. You're not that much better than I am when it comes to writing speed.
You don't even (seem to) have the excuse that you're doing research instead of writing!
edited 26th May '15 7:46:11 PM by EvaUnit01
The rewrites are what's going to slow me down. First I have to remove the Powerful Ranger's stuff and put in proper Super Sentai.
...I can only hope, for your sake, that you're deliberately trolling me, as you have often admitted to...
Because otherwise, what you're talking about basically means doing with Power Rangers the exact same thing that Power Rangers did with Super Sentai. Backwards.

This is fanfic! Completely different thing!

SCM is extremely fast at writing first chapters once he gets an idea. It's from the second chapter he gets stuck into molasses and tar and becomes slow enough to make Joe Madureira, Miura Kentaro and J. Scott Campbell blush.
Yes, it is different. You don't have the benefit of ready-made Stock Footage to comprise a percentage of your episodes. And instead of taking three unrelated shows and making another single but unrelated narrative out of them, you're talking about taking that one single narrative, breaking it back up into its three component narratives, and then trying to make those three pieces all fit together.
What you're proposing - if you are inded serious and not just fucking with me, as is your wont - is an adaptational jigsaw puzzle from Hell.
@everyone else, watching this: why do I have so much trouble communicating with that guy? Is he messing with me, or not? Is it that he's legit crazy, and can only rarely help himself? Am I just stupid? For the love of God, somebody please help me make sense of that fruitcake!

...
What's your point?
Are you accusing me of reading Twilight? This, sir, is a grave insult! Either apologize or we DUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
