A Game of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri

Go To

Long ago, an ancient superweapon, capable of shaping worlds, changing the laws of physics, and even influencing life and death, was lost. It was another casualty of a world-shattering war, that saw the deployment of indescribable horrors and carnage on a galactic scale. Its name was Sifuri, and, as the ashes settled on the remains of cities and combatants, it was decided that some things were best forgotten, and Sifuri faded from memory as its creators set about rebuilding and reconstuituting all that had turned to ashes. For billions of years, Sifuri lay abandoned and alone on a distant world, safely out of the ands of its creators and never to be used again.

But now, things are beginning to change. The embers of war are begining to stir. A powerful force looms on the horizon, and Sifuri may be all that stands between it and the destruction of its creators. Two criminals, seeking to atone for their misdeeds, assemble two competing teams- one based around the supernatural, the the other around the scientific- to recover the artefact. It will be a long and perilous quest across the multiverse to recover Sifuri... but will the forces of magic or science prevail?

Hello once more, and welcome to the signup thread for A Game Of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri. Now, the first thing that you're probably wondering is why exactly we need another spinoff. The answer is that this was initially going to be a plot in the current Infinities game, but due to my worry that the mini-epic would would take too long, I decided to spin it off into its own game. That said, this game is extremely close to Infinities, moreso than TOTG was to the original AGOG. Because of that, there will be several crossovers between the two. Besides that, all the same rules in AGOG, and general RPing etiquette should apply.

Naturally, the biggest 'gimmick', so to speak, of this RP is the fact that characters who have science-based powers are pitted against those who have magic based powers. I'm really hoping for even teams for this, so if we have too many people on one side than some people may be given control of a second character for the opposite team. Characters who use both magic and science, such as Magitek, will be admitted on a case-by-case basis.

Mekboss Gundakka Bigrench

Orks, Warhammer 40 K

As a Blood Axe ork, Bigrench cares not from where his next payment of teef, weapons and mechanical parts comes from, and does the job the only way orks know how: with lots of noise and explosions. Bigrench lives only to create ever more destructive weapons and vehicles, and is at his happiest when his latest creation is devastating the battlefield, making more noise than an Ogryn celebration in the process. His greatest ambition is of creating the single most destructive contraption known to ork-kind, and takes on jobs wherever they may be in the hopes of amassing enough weapons for this purpose. He is fascinated by the concept of machine spirits (or A.I.s) and often wonders how he could make his creations work by themselves.

Personality: He is remarkably jovial for an ork, exulting more in destruction and explosions than in the fighting itself. However, he still has an ork's physical sense of humor, and enjoys a brawl as much as the next greenskin. Coming from a mercenary ork clan, he has learned to tolerate other races (or at least not shoot them on sight for not being orky) if they can offer him what he needs. Like most orks, overly complicated instructions will slow him down, and it is best to simply tell him what to blow up and let him take care of the how. Loud and has a... distinctive orky accent, though he can generally make himself understood via sweeping gestures and blows to the head.

ā€¢ Equipment/armor/weapons: Bigrench carries an assortment of tools and mysterious "bitz", "parts" and other "clever gubbinz" with him at all times, used to get mechanical devices back in semi-working order. His armor is cobbled together from whatever metal bits can be found, and protects him from all but the worst explosions and open flames. His main weapon is an enormous handheld rotary-barreled grenade launcher with various semifunctional addons dubbed da boomstikk, the barrel of which is fitted with two prongs that allow him to use it as a comically oversized wrench, hence his name. He also carries a choppa on his back as an all-purpose tool, eating utensil and weapon, though his gun is more than capable is more than capable of serving as such. He has as his assistants four Gretchin apprentices (Gretsnik, Gratzlik, Grezzlin (partially transformed via possession), and Jo) which he uses as mechanics, carriers, test subjects and ammunition as needs be. They wield either small-arms (orky or looted) or their own latest creations, which tend to be as dangerous to the wielder as to anyone in the vicinity.

ā€¢ Description: Bigrench is small for an ork leader at a mere eight feet tall, but is as 'ard as any boy. He wears a large groxleather apron festooned with metal plates and bits, heavy steel-capped boots and has a bionik eye after losing the other by checking if a shoota was loaded.

ā€¢ Powers: Able to jury-rig malfunctioning vehicles and guns so that they work (possibly improving them for a short time), though non-ork equipment will require intensive care from specialized technicians to be brought back in working order, if not scrapped outright (in which case he'll try to obtain the scrap for himself). Creates weapons and vehicles with frankly bizarre properties, the workings of which are best left unexamined, constantly modified, upgraded or scavenged for parts. Like all orks, Bigrench grows larger and stronger the more Orks and Gretchin are under his orders. Compensates for lack of accuracy with rate of fire, reasoning that if one bullet can do the job, so can thirty thousand.

  • Updated equipment: Tellyporta, tankzappa, armor-piercing/stealth/frag/hypersonic grenades.

  • Alignment: Da Sienz team. Will be happy to make teammates killier, tuffer or give them more dakka, as long as he gets to try out new experiments on their gear.

A character from another, sadly defunct RP. Do tell me if there are any problems with it.

Powers: Oh Dear. He's Human, with a Dalek brain. That means he has a very high intelligence, but that's all at the moment.
    * Personality: Formerly Omnicidal Maniac, now dislikes what the Dalek species is, and wants to change it to something more benign. Highly intelligent, and has very little experience with emotions.

  • Name: Kribnefka The Great
  • Universe: Dungeons & Dragons
  • Background: Kribnefka the Great is the God of Treachery, Deceit, and Peace. He attained this position through his actions as an adventurer. While his comrades attacked, he preferred talking down his foes or convincing them of blatant lies. He prevented a great war by inviting both sides to a drink, eventually resulting in world peace in his universe. His greatest achievement as a mortal was convincing a dragon with a head injury it was a unicorn.

  • Powers: Cut off from his divine power, he's left as a level 10 wizard- capable of summoning houses, tossing fireballs, and the like, but also very squishy.
  • Personality: Kribnefka has a very peaceful outlook on life. He believes fights should be kept to arenas, bars, and sporting events. This is reflected in his desire to talk down or lie to his opponents in hopes they will see reason. When reason fails or is impossible, however, he brings forth torrents of arcane might. He's quite knowledgeable about dragons and other magical creatures of the D&D world.

  • Name: Axl

  • Universe: Megaman X

  • Background: A former agent of the defunct bounty hunting organisation Red Alert, Axl was initially a loyal member, being brought up by its' leader, Red, who treated him like a son. However, he eventually changed allegiance to the Maverick Hunters after Red Alert began to go after innocents, and helped to bring down Sigma alongside X and Zero, his heroes. He doesn't know much about his past, aside from the fact that he is a prototype New Generation Reploid, whom can use Copy Chips to copy abilities. Since the defeat of Red Alert and Sigma, he has worked with X and Zero on many a mission. For now he's trying to figure out who he is.

  • Powers: Axl has many abilities and the use of varied technology, such as:
    • Copy Chip: This does exactly what it says on the tin - it allows Axl to copy someone right down to their appearance. However, to keep things fair he would probably only be allowed to use a small selection of an enemy's abilities, and he cannot maintain it forever. He would also have to spend a few moments (perhaps a post or two) analysing and recording the subject's data/DNA.
    • Hover jets: Axl has small jets built into the sides of his legs that allow him to hover for a short time.
    • Twin Busters: Axl can make use of two pistol-like busters that can fire extremely rapidly, but can't do as much damage as other weapons. He loses these in favour of whatever weapon(s) the subject was carrying when he uses his Copy Chip.
    • Dash: Like his allies X and Zero, Axl can activate small boosters in his legs to give him a short burst of speed.
    • Wall climbing/jumping: Axl can hop from one wall to another to ascend a shaft, but he can also "hop" up the side of a wall to climb it as well.

  • Personality: Generally carefree, Axl has a cheerful and peppy attitude. He tackles almost everything with enthusiasm, but that doesn't mean he can't be serious when the situation calls for it. He tends to believe he's in the right, and won't hesitate to begin shooting once the time comes. Overall, his personality is multifaceted - sometimes he can be very immature, while other times he lives up to the title of "Maverick Hunter".

  • Name: Koragg
  • Universe: Power Rangers Mystic Force (sometime during the episode Koragg's Trial)
  • Background: Formerly a magical warrior by the name of Leanbow, he fiercely fought Octomus, also known as the Master, and he was able to seal The Master. However, as the Master was being sealed, he was able to brainwash Leanbow into his servant, Koragg, The Knight Wolf. Soon, the fallen wizard was also sealed with Octomus. Twenty years later, when the seal was broken, Koragg was the first one to come out. He soon battled his former wife, Udonna, and won, taking her staff and spared her life. After a series of battles, the Underworld's current leader, Morticon, was killed and in his place was Imperious, who like Morticon, would often butt heads with him. Imperious at one point even held a trial when he witnessed Koragg saving the Rangers, accusing him for treason, and even attempted to convince The Master as well. But before Judgment could be passed onto Koragg, he was taken away by an odd force.
  • Powers: He is armed with a sword and shield and is a skilled swordsman. He can shoot wolf heads out of the shield upon saying "WOLF ATTACK!" He can summon his horse, Catastros, to ride on. However, the Centaurus Wolf Megazord combination is disabled.
  • Personality: Despite being Brainwashed into Koragg, Leanbow still has his sense of honor and duty. He doesn't attack anyone he sees as weak, seeing the act as both a waste of his time and dishonorable, and would even go as far as to help them should anyone else prey upon them. He is also completely honorable to the Master, Octomus, and thus, will refuse any offer to join anyone else.

  • Name: Caillou
  • Universe: Recettear
  • Background: He used to be an Orphan in the city of Pensee. He knows a priest in his town, and has a bit of history with him. (said priest plans to have Caillou run the orphanage he used to be in, someday.) The chapel in his city however, confiscates magical items. Mysteriously, said magical items turned up in dungeons afterwards. He went to the item shop in his town to team up with the owner there and get the magical items back in circulation. (so said item shop owner sells the magical items Caillou finds in dungeons and sells them. Due to some legal mumbo jumbo, the chapel cannot do anything about this. Hence why Caillou came to them in the first place.)
  • Powers:
    • SP recharge: There are 2 forms of this.
      • Melee: He can recharge energy needed for his magic attacks by hitting his enemies with his staff. Can't strike that fast though.
      • Ranged: He can also recharge his energy by charging and firing a fireball at his enemies instead. He has to stay in one spot when charging up his ranged attack and it only go straight, meaning Caillou is quite vulnerable and said attack is easily avoided.
    • Pyrobomb: The area around Caillou explodes in a small radius. It can also hit aerial enemies. Think of it like a Spin Attack except with a weak explosion.
    • Ice Mine: A block of ice appears underground and moves ahead of Caillou for a few seconds. Then it bursts out of the ground, hitting anyone who was in that spot. This however requires precise timing on Caillou's part since he has no control over this attack other than where it was cast.
    • Sparkburst: Shard-like projectiles fly out from Caillou's staff in a V shape. He has to stay in one spot while using this attack. Yeah this is where the nerf is coming in: Caillou cannot use the attack indefinitely, and can only use it for a few seconds. He is also not going to be invincible during the initial cast.
    • Gemini Force: Orbs surround Caillou and can act as a shield. When Caillou swings his staff, the orbs are either sent forward, or try to home in on a foe nearby. The projectiles aren't entirely accurate, and can be dodged. The orbs have a short flight range too.
    • Warp: This actually has 2 effects. If Caillou uses this skill, he warps to a random area. If he's in a battle and uses this, he temporarily warps out of the battle and comes back to the same spot a few seconds later. (It's one way of dodging attacks.)
  • Personality: He hates being treated as a child (despite the fact he is one.) and expects to be treated like an adult. He acts beyond his years. Though he still has some childish tendencies such as going to the chapel for the candy there. He's a bit of a brat.
  • Team: Magic, of course.

In the last couple (?) years he's become an Avenger and seen his arch-enemy rise to great powers in the government then fall back down again.
  • Powers: Weight 2 Superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes, and durability, Accelerated healing factor (nowhere near Deadpool and Wolverine don't worry), Ability to cling to most surfaces, Precognitive spider sense, Genius-level intellect, Master hand-to-hand combatant.

Name: Zelda, Princess of Hyrule/Sheik of the Sheikah

Universe: The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time , specifically just after she sends Link home. Some powers and abilities taken from Super Smash Bros Melee / Brawl and other games in the Zelda canon.

Background: The Princess of Destiny, wielder of the Triforce of Wisdom, Zelda has always been wise beyond her years. Seeing the danger that lay in the Gerudo King who was attempting to usurp her fatherā€™s kingdom and gain access to the fabled Sacred Realm, she set a plan in motion ā€“ a plan that came to fulfilment when she met the now-legendary Hero of Time. Sending him on a quest to acquire the Three Spiritual Stones and secure them from Ganondorf, her plans were unexpectedly foiled by Ganondorfā€™s assassination of the King and his subsequent pursuit of the Princess herself, who only just managed to pass the final key to the Triforce, the Ocarina of Time, to the Hero before riding off into the distance. Her next seven years were spent under the guise of a Sheikah male named Sheik, where she learnt the arts of self-defense and other secrets, all the while hoping to aid and abet the Hero of Time when he awoke, Ganondorf having taken over Hyrule - in no small part owing to Zeldaā€™s actions. As predicted, the Hero of Time awoke, and as he set on his quest to return light to the five Temples in the land, Zelda in her male disguise aided him, and eventually revealed her true identity, helping him in the final fight against the King of Evil. With light restored to the land, Zelda returned the Hero to his own time in order to let him prevent any of the previous events from happening, and hoping to rebuild her kingdom in the meantime. The rest is legendā€¦

Powers/Abilities: The Princess is blessed with powerful magic, and also has other gifts such as precognition and telepathy. With her arcane spells, she can augment the power of her blows, creating a sparkling aura around her hands. She is lithe and graceful in combat, with far more agility than her relatively sheltered background might suggest. The Triforce of Wisdom allows her many powers, augmenting her magical abilities, and she is also a skilled archer, using the Light Arrows to great effect. She is also wise beyond her years. As Sheik, she possesses great flexibility and speed in combat, wielding needles, a whip and a short blade, among other things. She possesses the ability to teleport short distances in both forms.

Personality: Kind and caring, while also very wise, she prefers to resolve issues peacefully, although she is willing to fight where needed. Her royal training means that she is well suited for leadership roles. Sheik tends to be more distant then her ā€˜Zeldaā€™ identity, speaking formally and cryptically.

Side: Magic.

Powers/Abilities: Ever since his intangibilty power went wild, Krika needed to to consume heat or energy to keep himself alive making the air around him particularly cold.

Krika has the power over shadow as a natural ability.

He has a Nyrah blaster that lets him take control of any mechanics in the target for a short amount of time( say about 1 minute at most).

He wears the Kanohi Crast, mask of repulsion that lets him deflect objects away from him self though this can only work for one thing at a time.

Personality:

He is a bit of an anti hero, recognising the corruption that has happened within the brotherhood ever since Teridax's takeover.

I have no idea if this'll actually get in, but... If it's not okay, then I'll try and find something else. Just thought I should at least try for this one first, ahah~

  • Name: Lyna the Light Charmer, with her familiar Happy Lover
  • Universe: Yu Gi Oh Card Game
  • Background: The youngest of the Elemental Charmers, and as such her powers haven't developed enough for her to take on a Familiar Possessed form, nor for her to develop her own signature Spiritual Arts spell. It's unknown how she first came to be one of the Elemental Charmers, but she and her familiar Happy Lover have been a core part of the group for some time now.
  • Powers: In theory, Lyna possesses magic that allows her to manipulate and create light. However, she's still young, and her powers haven't fully developed yet, so her offensive capabilities are somewhat lacking, limited to little more than bright flashes and the occasional short laser blast. Instead, she focuses more on defensive magic, creating barriers and the like to help protect her and her allies. She also possesses the power to temporarily control "light aligned" enemies, although what exactly counts as "light aligned" may vary. Constantly floating around her is her familiar, Happy Lover, whom Lyna shares a telepathic link with. Happy Lover can fire out a "Heart Ray" from its forehead, which causes anyone struck by it to be overwhelmed with feelings of immense joy and contentment.
  • Personality: Lyna is still young and rather unsure of herself, but she makes sure to try her best at whatever challenge she comes across. She can be a bit childish at times, but... That's because she's still a child. Somewhat airheaded and a little bit dim, but at the same time compassionate and caring, wearing her heart on her sleeve at all times. Her familiar, Happy Lover, seems perpetually cheerful, although it's hard to get a good grasp on its personality, as it doesn't say much other than the occasional cute noise.

  • Name: Sherlock Holmes
  • Universe: Sherlock
  • Background: Not much has actually been revealed, or, for that matter, really matters. What we do know is that he grew up with a rivalry with his brother, and, at some point, began solving crimes, often with Inspector Lestrade, eventually gaining the trust of Lestrade, and the hatred of most of London's police. At some point he went to Florida and got a Mr. Hudson the death penalty for his crimes, gaining the trust of his widow. Recently he moved in with a John Watson in an apartment on Baker Street, and Watson became his assistant.
  • Powers: Sherlock has a genius level intellect, and a lot of knowledge about criminals, crime, and crime fighting, but little to no knowledge of anything else. He is great with cellphones, and is able to do things with them that normal people cannot. (I think that's it, tell me if I missed anything.)
  • Personality: Sherlock is a high functioning sociopath who loves danger and intrigue. He gets a rush from solving crime, and solving puzzles. There are very few people who he actually cares about (Watson and, uh... Watson?).

He also has access to the Sagasniper, a firearm that is capable of becoming a scanning device for powerful objects of both mystical and scientific origin, something invaluable in the search for Sifuri.

Universe: Code Geass (R2)

Background: The rival and "best friend" of Lelouch. Suzaku is a rather controversial character. Instead of following Lelouch's ideals to crush Britannia to save Japan, Suzaku opted to "change Britannia from the inside, to help Japan," and he is willing to crush Japanese freedom fighters and terrorists in order to achieve this (even those that share his ultimate goals, such as the Kyoto Group). Speaking of that, he got chosen to pilot the Humongous Mecha Lancelot, which enables him to do lots of otherwise-impossible physical feats. He often tells people that "results obtained using the wrong means are meaningless," which means he opposes Zero for using terrorism to achieve his ends, but this is actually a result of the fact that he killed his father, former Japanese Prime Minister Genbu Kururugi, to end Japanese resistance to the Britannian invasion, which has made him hate himself greatly and try to atone by attempting to get himself killed in battle.

Later, he finds love in Princess Euphemia li Britannia, and got picked as her Knight, nonetheless. But after a certain incident that made him lose her very cruelly and messily, he blamed Zero for it and became more "honest", showing more brutality and less restraint. Even after the revelation that Zero is Lelouch, Suzaku did not falter and turned against his best friend.

In the second season, Suzaku becomes a Knight of the Round and hopes to advance to the rank of Knight the First, since it will grant him honorary rule of any area. He plans to take control of Area 11 (Japan) and use his position to help the Japanese people.

Powers:

  • Charles Atlas Superpower: For reasons pointed out but not fully explained in the anime, Suzaku is capable of performing athletic feats far beyond what normal humans are able to (like running along a wall and kicking off a machine gun with a 0.05 seconds time delay).

  • Suzaku also posses the Knightmare Frame Z0-1 Lancelot, a four and a half meter tall piloted mecha. It rolls around on specialized roller blades. It comes armed to the teeth with four slash harkens (blades mounted on wires which are fired out) and two MVS (Maser Vibration Swords) which are stored on its backpack. It also has a pair of energy shields mounted on the arms. However, the Lancelot it seems has been downgraded to its basic design, and does not include the Float Unit, VARIS railgun, or extra shields that Suzaku later had installed. The entire unit is battery powered, and Suzaku has to watch his energy consumption.

  • Suzaku is also 'cursed' with a Geass from his former best friend, Lelouch. It's an absolute command to 'live', which forces Suzaku to push himself beyond all reasonable measures to keep himself alive. However, Suzaku secretly wants to die, and thus the command is a punishment in many ways.

Personality: Suzaku is...complicated. On the surface he really seems like a nice guy, always willing to help out and protect others. But that hides the rancor and rage that he keeps storing up without any way for it to let it out. He hates himself vehemently for killing his own father to keep the people of Japan from being used in Suicide attacks against the Britannian invaders, but that also led directly to Japan's surrender and occupation.

He really has problems with people who break the rules, feeling that its a cheap and dishonorable way to do things, and thus he's been trying to work within the Britannian Occupation forces to help his people. He hasn't been totally successful at it.

Suzaku has crossed lots of boundaries in his quest to try and help, even betraying his best friend (who had just killed the woman he might have loved, so he's got a bit of leeway there...) to the Britannian Emperor for his enhanced rank. Suzaku is transported to this new world right before the start of the R2 Anime series.

Of course Suzaku is for the SCIENCE TEAM!

This looks interesting.

  • Name: Quote
  • Universe: Cave Story
  • Background: Quote was a scout robot sent to the Floating Island with his companion Curly Brace to stop the Doctor from using the Demon Crown. He was rendered amnesiac for an undetermined amount of time, but was eventually able to complete his mission.
  • Powers: Quote has two primary special abilities. First is his ability to carry a ridiculous amount of equipment, and the second is his strong leg servos, which complements his Booster 2.0 jump pack.
  • Equipment:
    • The Spur: An advanced laser weapon made by a master gunsmith, which becomes more powerful the more it is charged before firing.
    • The Missile Launcher: Exactly what it says. Can fire three missiles at once
    • The Fireball: Firing burning plasma, which bounces off of flat surfaces. The shots curve.
    • King's Sword: The sword belonging to King, a mimiga who assisted Quote on his adventure, before sacrificing himself to save his village
    • Booster 2.0: a Jump Pack made by the brilliant Professor Booster, the Booster 2.0 gives the user several seconds of controllable flight, allowing complex jumps to be made.
  • Personality: Quote is a scout robot, and thus he is programmed to be resourceful and resolute. He is also quite loyal, and oddly he possesses a strong sense of justice. He generally keeps quiet, but when words must be said he's quite willing to say them. He never gives up. Ever.

I'll try at this. I'd love to use a Metal Hero like Gavan, Sharivan and Shaider, but they need their ships to send in the particles. tongue

  • Name: Schuyler "Sky" Tate
  • Universe: Power Rangers SPD, post-TV series
  • Background: The son of a well-known SPD officer killed in the line of duty, Sky is a known cadet at the SPD Academy who has pride due to his heritage thanks to his father while always abiding by the rules. Due to this, Sky's pride also gets him into many problems starting when the academy recruits a drifter named Jack Landors to be the Red Ranger. Conflict soon erupted between the two. But as time passes, Sky and Jack grew to respect each other while realizing that he can still do good without being the Red Ranger. In B-Squad, Sky is second-in-command and is also known to the public and in SPD ranks as the Blue SPD Ranger.
  • Powers: Thanks to being involved in an experimental accident that involved Sky's parents, he has the ability to create force fields to protect himself from all sides. But he doesn't use this all the time because Sky replies on his academy training to handle SPD-made weapons and equipment. He is also a good marksman from using his Deltamax Striker. Sky is also competent in engaging hostiles in unarmed combat. For the purpose of this game, Sky unfortunately does not have access to his SWAT Flyer and his Patrol Cycle (The latter for obvious reasons).
  • Personality: He has been a proud officer cadet in the SPD Academy thanks to his father's work with the SPD's Earth branch that he unfortunately allows this to sometimes led to trouble with his fellow officer cadets, insisting to follow rules while being prompt and precise. But thanks to working with his teammates in halting Troobian Empire attempts to seize the Earth, Sky realizes that he can continue his father's work as a future SPD officer by not necessarily being appointed as the Red Ranger.

Okay. Here's mine:

Character: Zeratul

Universe: Starcraft

Background: As a Prelate, he has seen many things, including how terrible the future is in StarcraftII and his need to save it from the Dark Voice, the defacto leader of the hybrids. He dies during the Overmind's vision in the campaign but has been suddenly brought to a new universe, filled with new possibilities.

Powers: He has a psionic blade (A green one at that), can use Blink, usually has Permanent Cloaking, and the ability Void Prison temporarily holds his target for a designated amount of time.

Personality: storyline-wise, he is a very wise man, having spent countless millenia under the service of the matriarch Raszagal. He does tend to brood about killing Raszagal due to Kerrigan's taint, as well as having to deal with the fact that he literally handed Kerrigan the Zerg four years after the matriarch's death.

Side: Science(?)
