Fazbear and Friends is a Minecraft-style animated series based on the main cast of Five Nights at Freddy's by ZAMination
. The show follows the wacky misadventures of Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and their many friends as they get themselves into trouble while trying to manage their pizzeria.
The show also features crossovers with various other games and series such as Minecraft, Friday Night Funkin', Bendy and the Ink Machine, Doki Doki Literature Club!, Among Us, Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning, Poppy Playtime, Garten of Banban, and even Squid Game and the Talking Tom and Friends series.
Not to be confused with the animated short by Max Gilardi.
Fazbear and Friends provides examples of:
- Adaptation Personality Change: Whereas canon!Circus Baby was quiet and secretive, this one is proud and loves being the center of attention.
- Adaptational Badass: Unlike in their main game where they were simply helpless civilians, Sayori, Natsuki, and Yuri are skilled enough to assist Monika against Boyfriend in a rap battle.
- Adaptational Heroism: Many characters from the series are much nicer than their malicious canonical counterparts.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Jumbo Josh in the original game, was a monster that was created in an experiment to nip at the player's heels as they explore the world of Garten of Banban, but here in the series it's quite the opposite, a friend who apologizes to Huggy Wuggy for scaring him and also expresses concern for the indie side of horror games, which that encourages him to lift his spirits by singing a song with the help of Bendy, Freddy and Blue.
- Adaptational Villainy: Chainsaw Man is an amoral but ultimately heroic Devil Hunter in his home series. Here, he's as unstable and murderous as you would expect a man with chainsaw powers to be.
- Affectionate Parody: Of the FNaF series and other such series in general.
- Agony of the Feet: Monty stubs his toe on a chair in one short, causing him to erupt in a hurricane of swears. This is after Glamrock Freddy & Gregory tried getting him to control his anger.
- Ambiguously Bi:
- Bonnie made out with Circus Blue-by, showed attraction to Girl Bonnie, & accepted a blind date with Purple Guy.
- Chica makes a few attempts to flirt with men and her jaw dropped after seeing Circus Baby for the first time.
- Ass Shove: Baldi threatens Freddy with this in MONTY STARTS A FIGHT CLUB!!:Baldi: I'm going to stick this ruler where the sun don't shine!
- Berserk Button:
- Never say magic isn't real in front of The Puppet.
- Never try to pay Mommy Long Legs in Bitcoin.
- Big Finale Crowd Song: In the last episode, all the characters they sing "Bring The Music Back" to bring the music back and leave the shorts behind, at the end everyone gathers singing the last verse of the song in front of the sight of a new world ready to bring the music back.
- Black Comedy: Despite being a Lighter and Softer kids show, the series isn't above using dark humor. Such as Circus Baby casually talking about a time she had a person's innards scooped out and the Fazbear Gang's casual reaction to cremating a corpse.
- Brainless Beauty: Circus Blue-by isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: In Freddy is HURT!?:Foxy: Wait a minute! This is a cartoon right? Doesn't that mean we can just...? (pushes the bump on Freddy's head down)(the crew celebrates while the credits roll)Freddy: Wait, Foxy, what was all that about this being a cartoon? (all of them slowly turn to face the camera)
- In HUGGY WUGGY'S SAD ORIGIN STORY:
Bron: Well I think that's long enough for a cameo (walks off)- In SISTER LOCATION VS SECURITY BREACH:
Glamrock Freddy: Wasn't this video supposed to be Sister Location VS Security Breach?Circus Baby: Video?(everyone present slowly turns to look at the camera. Talking Ben hangs up the phone. Cue next skit)- In Toy Chica is in Love?!:
Chica: You're not just saying that because this is a kid's show, right?(Foxy looks at the camera)- In ORIGIN OF GREGORY.exe:
(The camera drops and the credits start to appear)Gregory: Aaaaaaah, Freddy, what are those?Glamrock Freddy: I don't know(Glamrock Freddy and Gregory scream) - The Bully: Purple Guy and Purple Girl hang around the pizzeria solely to torment the animatronics and the children there.
- Casanova Wannabe: After Alice kicks him to the curb, Bendy flirts with Girl Bonnie and every other female he lays his eyes on. He fails miserably.
- Cheaters Never Prosper:
- Whenever Bendy attempts to cheat at Squid Game, he ends up being killed.
- He was also killed when he attempted to shoot his Bendy 2 counterpart.
- Comically Small Bribe: The Announcer gets the cast to participate in the Squid Game by offering them a $15.00 Walmart Giftcard.
- Create Your Own Villain: In the music videos about the Rainbow Friends story, Red is responsible to create his friends through experiments on people, he kidnapped an innocent person and turned him into Purple, he tricked a blind man into creating Green, he brainwashed Blue by changing him for a stupid brain, even in his music video he was like test subject and forced his friends to activate a mechanism that turned him into the scientist we all know.
- Creepy Doll: The doll from Squid Game, as ever. Especially in the hide and seek round.
- Darkhorse Victory: The crewmate wins the hide & seek round of Squid Game.
- Decomposite Character: Purple Guy and Springtrap are different people here.
- Edible Ammunition: In the battle against Boyfriend, Natsuki uses a bazooka that launches cupcakes.
- Engineered Public Confession: In the hide & seek round of Squid Game, Funtime Freddy and Bon Bon brag about how they're not stupid like everyone else, this leading to Boyfriend to record their conversation through his mic. Boyfriend accidentally rats himself out with the same method seconds later.
- Egopolis: Circus Baby turns the pizzeria into this mere days after arriving. Thankfully Freddy and crew convince her to tone it down.
- Evil Is One Big, Happy Family: The long legs family sings about how close they are as a family, then about how they enjoy killing folks as a family.
- Expy: Circus Baby and Circus Blueby are based on Kat and Ana From Warioware.
- Flipping the Bird: Foxy does this to Bron (albeit censored) after being rescued from Mommy Long Legs (most likely for not helping with such).
- Funny Background Event: In CIRCUS BABY VS FREDDY:Circus Baby: "I'm very hands-on!"(someone's jaw can be heard dropping)
- Gold-Colored Superiority: After Foxy finds a chest of gold coins, the animatronics have their outer layer turned gold to reflect their new found wealth.
- Grossout Show: Chica Is Sick?! features pizzas with snot
sneezed over them, and characters eating the ruined pizza (though when Chica did it it's so a child doesn't eat it). - Hair-Trigger Temper: Like canon, Monty has a ferocious temper. Gregory and Freddy try to help him over come said temper, so he doesn't get fired. Unfortunately, they failed.
- Hilariously Abusive Childhood: Gregory is being raised primarily by Glamrock Freddy, who is a decent guardian for the most part. Unfortunately, this means sharing a living space with Monty, who kicks Gregory around whenever the opportunity presents itself.
- Inferiority Superiority Complex: Like canon, Roxy has one. She breaks down and cries when someone insults her, only to get back up again and praise herself when someone compliments her.
- Jaw Drop: A few examples:
- Bonnie, Foxy, & even Chica after Circus Baby reveals herself from a crate.
- Glamrock Freddy after Monty swears.
- Bron after seeing Foxy flip him off.
- Jerkass: Purple Guy, Purple Girl, Foxy (to a lesser extent), Funtime Freddy & BonBon, the Tutorial Unit, and Bendy.
- Jailed One After Another: After Monty gets himself and Greg thrown in jail, Greg chews him out by ranting about how Glamrock Freddy would never do anything like what Monty just pulled. Turns out Glamrock Freddy is one cell over, because he robbed over a hundred banks. Greg and Monty are shocked.
- Lighter and Softer: In general, the show is far less dark than the source material. Even compared to the FnaF music videos that ZAMination is known for, there is less drama.
- Loony Fan: Vanny is this to the Fazbear crew, even going as far as to kidnap them and Scott himself just to create Security Breach.
- Lovable Coward: Tabby Lynx in Poppy has a TWIN Sister!? runs away and hides from Boyfriend in fear because she doesn't want to participate in a rap battle.
- Love at First Sight:
- Deconstructed. Purple Guy and Purple Girl develop feelings for each other when they first meet, but he ruins it by calling her an uncultured swine for not having a purple car. He then develops an unhealthy obsession and stalks her.
- Foxy develops a crush of Girl Foxy after seeing her for the first time... then she insults his piratehood and they start competing over it.
- Love Potion: The cast of Doki Doki each create one to use on Freddy. It fails epically once his milk allergy causes him to explode.
- Madness Mantra: Black is not a color. Black is not a color.
- Major Injury Underreaction: After getting his leg stabbed and arm bitten, Daddy Long Legs simply says that he can't use them anymore.
- Mind over Matter: The Puppet has psychic abilities, which she uses to smash Purple Guy against the ground after he annoyed her.
- Mythology Gag:
- Girl Foxy and Girl Bonnie were based off of confusion about them being women when they were first released.
- A type of clickbait thumbnail sees Vanny get her arm stuck in the chest of an animatronic where a grinder is present. This was how Mommy Long Legs was beaten in Chapter 2 of Poppy Playtime, a game by the same crewmembers as Fazbear and Friends.
- No Sense of Personal Space: Glamrock Freddy can be a bit too helpful, even following Gregory into the bathroom.
- Other Me Annoys Me:
- Foxy gets into a competition with Girl Foxy after she insults his piratehood.
- Chica is clearly envious that everyone finds Toy Chica more attractive than her.
- Monty gets into a flex-off with Red Monty.
- Original Character: Purple Girl, Purple Dog, Girl Foxy, Girl Bonnie, Poppy's Twin, Tabby Lynx, Red Monty and Circus Baby's "Twin Sister"; Circus Blue-by.
- Out of Focus: The FNaF crew doesn't appear at all in Boyfriend vs. Monika and Poppy Playtime vs. Squid Game. More recent shorts have focused more on the Security Breach crew.
- Pineapple Ruins Pizza: Purple Guy has Freddy hire his "son" (the Amalgamation) to work at the restaurant, and it does a good job for the most part... until all the pizzas have pineapple on them, which makes all the kids cry.
- Pink Means Feminine: Foxy and Bonnie's female counterparts are pink. This also applies to Bonnet, Kissy Missy, Mommy Long Legs, and Tabby Lynx.
- Pokémon Speak: The Crewmates (referred to as Among Us) can only say the words "Among Us".
- Product Placement: One episode has a Threatening Shark seemingly attack Purple Girl and Audrey ... only to turn out to be a merchant that sells EnchantedMob and ZAMination merchandise inside himself. Other episodes have advertisement of shirts featuring the characters.
- Proud Beauty: Circus Baby believes that she is the sexiest woman in the cast and believes this makes her the leader of the girls. Naturally, the other girls disagree.
- Running Gag:
- Vanny boops Freddy's nose and is ecstatic that it squeaks.
- Many episodes have Bendy think Foxy is Boris even when the real Boris is in the same room (and even he thinks Foxy is another Boris). Boris somehow concludes he and Foxy are twins because of this logic.
- The obscure color coquelicot is frequently mentioned by various characters.
- Screams Like a Little Girl: Freddy & Foxy in HUGGY WUGGY'S SAD ORIGIN STORY when they both get stuck in The Backrooms: Freddy when confronted by a bare endoskeleton, & Foxy upon finding Talking Ben.
- Shameless Fanservice Girl: Tabby Lynx seems to act like this in her WHAT UP! music video, flaunting her attractiveness around the cast and being intentionally seductive for the viewer and the other characters In-Universe. Circus Baby has a rivalry with her over this due to Tabby getting all the attention, wanting everyone to focus on her instead.
- Sick Episode: As expected, "Chica is Sick" is this. She even gets the rest of the crew sick.
- Sound-Effect Bleep: When Monty stubs his toe on a chair in one short, his resultant swearing is censored with, in order: an old-fashioned car horn, a boat horn, a foghorn, & a boat horn again. Gregory repeating one of Monty's swears is also censored with the same car horn sound effect.
- Stalker with a Crush: Purple Guy becomes incredibly obsessed with Purple Girl, stalking her in a tree.
- Stripperiffic:
- Chica points out that Toy Chica is only wearing panties in an attempt to get her kicked out. Toy Chica shoots back by pointing out how Chica herself only wears a bib, and Freddy and Bonnie are naked.
- Like canon, Ballora's "clothes" consist of a tutu and what would be a piece of cloth draped over her shoulders that's just long enough to cover her chest.
- Stock Sound Effects:
- The Godzilla roar is made by the kraken summoned by Girl Foxy.
- Boris, an Expy of Goofy, uses the Goofy holler in one episode.
- Unlike other characters, Talking Ben has no voice acting and instead speaks using voice lines from his source series.
- Suddenly Voiced: Huggy Wuggy, despite having the intelligence of a dog in his debut episode, can speak properly in his later appearances. Foxy comments on this.
- Summon Bigger Fish: To get the Security Breach gang out of their pizzeria, the original FNAF crew summon the Withered animatronics. The Security Breach gang does run away screaming, but Withered Freddy shuts the door on Freddy's face and resumes the party that the Security Breach gang abandoned.
- Take That!: One episode has Gregory repeatedly crouch below a table out of Glamrock Chica's eyesight, with her only seeing him when he rises up again. This is a reference to a glitch where the sight for the animatronics' AI in Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is dependent on Gregory being exactly within their field of view, where being too high or too low made him seem invisible.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Many deceased characters show up perfectly fine even after dying in the show and no one questions it.
- Threatening Shark: A subverted example with the shark that seemingly attacks Purple Girl and Audrey, only to actually be a merchant selling the channel's products inside his body.
- Took a Level in Kindness: In more recent videos Bendy is show less of a cheating jerk and is willing to cooperate with others.
- Weaksauce Weakness: After shrugging off a flamethrower, Mommy Long Legs is killed by Bugspray.
- Would Hurt a Child:
- Purple Guy loves messing with kids, whether stealing a birthday wish or popping a balloon.
- Purple Girl pushes a kid down and calls him fat while going to her car.
- Monty and Red Monty get into a competition to see who could kick Gregory farther.
- Yandere: Like in her home series, Monika will kill anyone she considers a threat to her "relationship" with Freddy (or the viewer).
- You Are Fat: Springtrap makes a caricature of Purple Guy, telling him he's fat. Purple Guy then has a heart attack.
