Two Girls to a Team in western animation.
  • Cadpig and Spot in 101 Dalmatians: The Series.
  • Grammi and Sunni Gummi of Adventures of the Gummi Bears.
  • Cindy and Libby of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius.
  • Inverted with Angelina Ballerina in both the 2002 and 2009 series. William and Henry (Angelina's younger cousin) are the only two boys in Angelina's predominantly female ballet class. The Next Steps has Marco and A.Z. as the only regular boys in the cast.
  • Animal Mechanicals: Mouse and Unicorn are the only girls on the team, with the boys being Rex, Komodo and Sasquatch.
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender plays with this trope, the first season runs very much on The Smurfette Principle with Katara as the only female out of three, the second season then adds Toph which evens it out exactly, the final season Suki is the 11th-Hour Ranger to the team... except Zuko already made his Heelā€“Face Turn and joined... keeping the team even.
  • Bessie and Abby from Back at the Barnyard.
  • Tasha and Uniqua from The Backyardigans.
  • Starla and Watts from Blaze and the Monster Machines.
  • Nutsy Koala and Marcia Marsupial Mouse from Blinky Bill (the original series).
  • Also inverted with the main family, the Belchers, in Bob's Burgers (Three female members, two male members).
  • Bob the Builder has Dizzy and Wendy.
  • Gi and Linka from a group of five Planeteers from Captain Planet and the Planeteers.
  • Classic Disney Shorts had Minnie Mouse and Clarabelle Cow, with Clara Cluck and Daisy Duck being added later. Even then; the "Sensational Six" has Minnie and Daisy act as the two girls to the ensemble.
  • Theresa and Atlanta on Class of the Titans.
  • Pepper and her sister Dotty on Clue Club.
  • Code Lyoko: One of the Boys Yumi Ishiyama and Princesses Prefer Pink Aelita Stones amongst the Lyoko Warriors.
  • Codename: Kids Next Door:
    • Tomboy and Girly Girl duo Numbuhs 5 and 3.
    • Also, there are two female members of The Delightful Children from Down the Lane.
  • Caprice and Cassandra in seasons 3 and 4 of The Crumpets.
  • DuckTales (1987) and its 2017 reboot feature Webby Vanderquack and her grandmother Ms. Beakley. The reboot would then introduce another female member to its core cast using Della Duck. In "GlomTales", Glomgold's Legion of Doom includes Ma Beagle and Magica De Spell.
  • Not counting the Kanker Sisters (who aren't part of the cul-de-sac), Ed, Edd n Eddy has Nazz and Sarah.
  • Family Guy has Meg and Lois in the Griffin family.
  • Fireman Sam:
    • With the 2015 introduction of Ellie Phillips, the fire service has two female members, Penny and Ellie, alongside four male members, Sam, Elvis, Station Officer Steele, and Arnold. The other divisions of the rescue services typically have a duo of a man and woman; Tom and Krystyna for mountain rescues, Ben and Jodie for ocean rescues, and Malcolm and Rose for search and rescue.
    • When the Flood family joined the cast in 2003, Sarah and Mandy became the two core girls of the child cast, alongside boys James, Norman, and later Derek. This is averted in Seasons 8 and 9 with the introduction of Lily and Hannah.
  • Amy and Leela from Futurama.
  • The Garbage Pail Kids Cartoon had Patty Putty and Terri Cloth as the only female members of the main group.
  • Gargoyles: Eventually, Eliza Maza and Angela.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl Wendy and Mabel in Gravity Falls. In the same show, there's also Wendy's friend group, where she and Tambry are the only two girls outnumbered by four guys (Robbie, Nate, Lee, and Thompson).
  • In Handy Manny, Manny has two female tools, Dusty the hand saw and Squeeze the pliers.
  • Justice League: Hawkgirl and Wonder Woman, two of seven. While their appearances might suggest a Tomboy and Girly Girl dynamic, the actual contrast was in their experience (with Wonder Woman as the NaĆÆve Newcomer and Hawkgirl as a bit of a cynic) and in their attitudes towards men, with Wonder Woman having a touch of Women Are Wiser at first. Notably, neither was The Heart, as that role was filled by the Flash.
Wonder Woman: You men! Unless you do it on your own it doesn't count!
Hawkgirl: It's not just the men, you stuck-up...
  • Kid Cosmic: Jo and Rosa are the two female team members of the Five-Man Band.
  • Inverted in The Loud House; Lincoln and Mr. Loud are the only males in the family of 13.
  • Madballs: Escape from Orb had Freakella (who wasn't part of the original toyline) and Dusty (a Gender Flip of Dust Brain from the toyline).
  • Mighty Ducks: The Animated Series: one very nerdy duck-girl and one very excited tomboy.
  • Inverted in the second season of Miraculous Ladybug. Though they rarely all work together in the same episode, Adrien/Cat Noir and Nino/Carapace are the only males carrying Miraculous. The third season introduces more heroes, and to date, it's roughly equal between the genders.
  • Wacky Genki Girl Cathy and down-to-earth Samantha from Monster Buster Club, in a group of four.
  • Zombeef (a zombie cow) and Cowapatra (a mummy cow) are the only two females of the group of monster animals in Monster Farm.
  • Sonya and Kitana from Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm. They're also the two most famous female protagonists in the video game.
  • Muppet Babies (1984) had Miss Piggy and Skeeter (Scooter's alleged twin sister, created for the series). Tomboy and Girly Girl in effect, although it could flip when needed. Muppet Babies (2018) replaces Skeeter with Summer the Penguin.
  • Inverted with the Young/Student Six in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, which has four girls and two boys, Gallus and Sandbar.
  • Numberjacks: Shape Japer and Spooky Spoon are the only two female meanies, while the other three meanies, The Puzzler, Numbertaker, and Problem Blob, are males.
  • Inverted in Season 3 of The Owl House. Gus and Hunter are the only boys in the Hexsquad, while the others (Luz, Amity, Willow, Vee, and later Camila) are all female.
  • In the Oh Yeah! Cartoons short "Planet Kate", Cleo and Juno are the only female members of the quintet of alien dogs Kate Moon is acquainted with.
  • As of Season 2, PAW Patrol has two female pups, Skye and Everest.
  • Phineas and Ferb: Some episodes (most notably "Summer Belongs to You" and "Last Day of Summer") have Candace joining the main group of children (Phineas, Ferb, Isabella, Baljeet, and Buford).
  • Bright Eyes and Nose Marie among the five main puppies of Hanna-Barbera's Pound Puppies.
  • Cookie and Strudel in The Hub's Pound Puppies.
  • Razzberry Jazzberry Jam: The Jazzberries have two female members, Ella and Billie.
  • Sydney and Mindy in Ready Jet Go!.
  • Recess gave the Five-Man Band a super-duper dorky girl Gretchen Grundler and One of the Boys Ashley Spinelli. Also the school's "Bad kids" had Sue Bob Murphy and Kurst the Worst.
  • Daphne and Velma of Scooby-Doo were an early example of being the only two female members of a group otherwise composed of males.
  • Seven Little Monsters has One and Six as the only two female members of the titular monsters.
  • In Season 2 of Shirt Tales, there's Pammy Panda and Kip Kangaroo.
  • Inverted with The Simpsons family itself; there are two boys (Homer and Bart) to the family (three female members, two male members).
  • Skysurfer Strike Force gives us a villainous example with Lazerette and Cerina of the Bioborgs.
  • The Smurfs (1981) themselves had this later on with the introduction of Sassette.
  • Casey and Daffney in The Snorks.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons:
  • Space Racers has Robyn and Starling as two of the five young cadets at Stardust Bay Space Academy.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants: When creator Stephen Hillenburg first pitched the show, the main cast had two female characters (Pearl and Sandy) to five males (the title character, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, and Plankton). After the series had been in development for a while, the cast expanded to include two more females (Karen and Mrs. Puff) as well as another male (Gary).
  • Star Wars Rebels: In the Ghost crew, Hera and Sabine.
  • Star Wars Resistance:
    • Among the rough group of main characters, Tomboy and Girly Girl Tam and Torra. Later, female-programmed droid CB-23 joins the group as male droid BB-8's replacement, averting the trope.
    • Among the five-person Ace Squadron, Torra and Freya.
  • In early versions of Super Friends, the team had Wonder Woman and Wendy, or Wonder Woman and Jayna. According to the other Wiki, the only additional female superheroes who ever made repeated appearances on the show were Hawkgirl and Rima the Jungle Girl, but neither appeared in a large number of episodes. One version of the show, Challenge of the Super Friends, featured a team in its first segment where the only female superhero was Wonder Woman. Jayna appeared as a regular in the second segment of that show. The Challenge of the Super Friends episodes featured a Legion of Doom with two female villains, Cheetah and Giganta.
  • Super Why! has Red (Wonder Red) and Princess Pea (Princess Presto) on the main team. Notable as the main team has four characters in it, making this an even split between the male members, Pig (Alpha Pig) and Whyatt (Super Why) and the female members mentioned. Note that this is a Five-Man Band — it's just that the fifth member is supposed to be the viewer, who of course could be of any gender. Later on, they added a male character named Puppy (Woofster), making this a more typical example of this trope (three males, two females).
  • The Sushi Pack has three males (Tako, Ikura, and Wasabi) and two females (Maguro and Kani).
  • Tangled: The Series had Rapunzel and Cassandra as the only two prominent females in the first two seasons, before Cassandra made a Faceā€“Heel Turn in the third.
  • Teen Titans (2003): Starfire and Raven. More of a Red Oni, Blue Oni dynamic than a straight-up Tomboy and Girly Girl situation. The second season added a third girl, Terra, but she was The Mole and didn't last beyond that.
  • Cheetara and WilyKit of ThunderCats (1985) and Thunder Cats 2011. In both series, it became three girls when Sixth Ranger Pumyra showed up.
  • The Tool Street Gang contains two female tools: Nutley the wrench and Fret the saw.
  • Total Drama: Pahkitew Island had Ella and Sugar on Team Maskwak. However, this was after Sky and Max swapped teams.
  • Transformers: BotBots has Kikmee and Bonz-eye. A jock and ninja respectively.
  • Unikitty! has the eponymous character and Dr. Fox.
  • Allura and Pidge of Voltron: Legendary Defender.
  • Wakfu: Rebellious Princess Amalia and her bodyguard, Archer Evangelyne, amongst the Brotherhood of the Tofu.
  • Wild Kratts has Aviva and Koki.
  • The TV miniseries Yowasis has Nap and Squish. Also counts as a Gender Flip, as they were both male in the adverts from The '90s.
  • Young Justice (2010):
    • The team starts with four guys, then adds Miss Martian and Artemis Crock. This becomes the status quo for the bulk of the first season. This trope was so enforced in the minds of its demographic that rumors that another female team member (either Wonder Girl or Secret) would be joining the cast launched much speculation that either Artemis or Miss Martian would be outed as The Mole, die, or otherwise leave the team.
    • Averted, however, with the inclusion of Zatanna as a long-term member without any other character being removed from the team. As for the series' other big team, the Justice League, although there are three female members on the team, which technically means it doesn't count, the full roster is sixteen members so the essential truth of this trope is still in play. Interestingly, Wonder Woman seems to be actively working against this, as one of her stated criteria for an ideal new member to the League is that they be a woman to help shift the gender ratio.
    • By the end of season one, Zatanna is a full-time member and Rocket has joined up, so that the gender ratio is even with four boys and four girls. As of season two, the ratio for the team stands at five males and four females.
    • By Phantoms, this trope has perhaps become inverted, as the Team is now mostly comprised of female heroes, with the only two known male members being Nightwing and Arsenal.
    • This continuity's version of the Doom Patrol has Elasti-Girl and Negative Woman as its only two female members.
