Finding Goron Painkillers

Link travels to Goron City to free the final Divine Beast, but first must go on a relatively odd quest to do so first.

Tropes:

  • Canon Immigrant: Fanwork canon example. Astor and Sooga are God-Created Canon Foreigners from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity reincorporated into this fan-made novelization.
  • Cassandra Truth: Link mentions that he has grandchildren, but Bludo just assumes that he's speaking hypothetically since he jokes about it with him.
  • Convection, Schmonvection: The narration mentions that Link, Gerudo, and any non-Gorons present on Death Mountain need to use fire-proof elixirs or the Flamebreaker Set to shield themselves from the burning heat of Death Mountain.
  • *Crack!* "Oh, My Back!": Bludo is suffering a major case of this, hence the name of the chapter.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Link expresses little emotion when he sarcastically comments that Rudania is terrifying, indicative of how he's becoming more confident in his ability to free the Divine Beasts.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The first thing Yunobo is doing when Link finds him is curl up inside of his defensive power, and then run around in a circle terrified out of his mind.
  • Exact Eavesdropping: Barta makes up for her Leeroy Jenkins actions by sneaking into the hideout again, and gathering some crucial information about an imminent invasion against the entirety of Hyrule's remnants.
  • Feed It a Bomb: The Rock Octoroks Link and Cerako encounter are easily killed by making them a suck up a Remote Bomb and blowing it up.
  • Foreshadowing: Link and Cerako use a Remote Bomb to vanquish an enemy that sucks in air before it attacks.
  • Informed Flaw: The cannons are repeatedly stated to be hard to use, but Link has no problem using them at all. He even says as much.
  • Lighter and Softer: Much of the episode is a relatively low-stakes light-hearted treasure hunt with a relatively low-stakes goal of trying to find painkillers. Even the way it ends is rather comical...until the very last segment that subverts this.
  • One-Hit Kill: The cannons around the mine destroy monster camps in one shot.
  • Original Character: Astor and Sooga are both a God-Created Canon Foreigner from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, but Dark Action Girl Kolana is completely original with no counterpart.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: In the game, the Flamebreaker Set completely covers Link's body. This includes his arms, and in doing so, he ends up covering his Daybreaker Bracelets and unable to use them.
  • Treasure Hunt Episode: Much of this chapter is spent with Cerako and Link traveling
  • Verbal Tic:
    • Drak the Goron has a tendency to overextend syllables when he's talking.
    • Yunobo often ends his sentences with "goro".
  • Wham Shot: The ending of the chapter reveals that the Yiga Clan's remnants are planning an all-out assault against the remaining civilizations in Hyrule.
