The Fourth Spirit

Paya practices her new powers, and makes a discovery about her grandmother. The two, alongside Purah, work to figure out the meaning of this discovery.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Explanation: Other characters being able to use runes without the Sheikah Slate was never explained in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. This time around, while it's not adapting that story, has other characters having Sheikah Plates created by Purah that adapt the different runes.
  • The Chosen One: Paya becomes the Sheikah Orb's chosen master.
  • A Day in the Limelight: This chapter focuses primarily on Impa, Paya, and Purah and their efforts to understand Paya's visions.
  • Ms. Exposition: Hylia reveals everything that Impa needs to know about unlocking access to her spirit animal.
  • Reset Button: Among Paya's new powers is the ability to repair damage to both the Great Plateau, and eventually the Temple of Time and the Guardians around it. The Temple of Time is made glorious alongside the chapels to the Golden Goddesses, and the Guardians are purified of their corruption by Calamity Ganon.
  • The Reveal: Impa is meant to be a fourth hero in the team, as in one of Hyrule's greatest heroes alongside Link and Zelda, wielding the Frog. In order for Impa to access it, they need to find the scales of the three lost dragons Farosh, Dinraal, and Naydra.
  • Seers: Paya has become an oracle thanks to the Sheikah Orb choosing her as its user. She claims to have seen the castle rising out of the ground over blood red Malice, and Link's arm being different.
  • Take Up My Sword: Defied by the New Champions. They all relinquish their predecessor's weapons to forge their own individual paths as Champions.
  • Wham Shot: Paya's vision shows the Owl, the Wolf, and the Boar flying together along with a Frog from her grandmother Impa. And then they all turn into Malice forms akin to Calamity Ganon.
