"A peculiar sound echoes through the sky. Those who hear it faint, and eventually vanish."

Ultraman Decker Finale: Journey to Beyond is a Toku film of the long-running Ultra Series serving as an epilogue to Ultraman Decker.

Set after the finale of Ultraman Decker, Earth is at peace after the defeat of the Sphere invasion and Decker's departure. At least until the nefarious alien, Professor Gibellus, and his army of aliens invade Earth in order to conquer it; piloting the mothership Zorgaus and commanding the fearsome "Emperor Beast", an almighty kaiju. As the now powerless Kanata and GUTS-Select fight off the threat, a new Ultraman named Dinas emerges, one similar to Decker and hosted by a young and mysterious woman who fell from the sky.

The film released simultaneously on Tsuburaya Imagination, Ultraman Connection and theaters on February 22nd, 2023.

The film's trailer can be seen here.

Tropes

  • Big Bad: Professor Gibellus, a new alien who leads an army of evil through the mobile fortress Zorgaus and wants to conquer Earth.
  • Breaking Old Trends: The first New Generation Ultraman film to not feature an appearance of the previous series' Ultraman, presumably due to Trigger making numerous reappearances in Decker itself. Ultraman Dyna (albeit without his host again) does appear here.
  • The Cameo: Dyna appears briefly in a flashback to provide Dinas the ability to transform into an Ultraman.
  • End of an Era: Effectively the last installment of the New Generation Heroes era, as Ultraman Blazar will serve as a Soft Reboot and start of a new era of the Ultra Series.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Terraphaser and King Joe fight each other, Terraphaser in-universe was modeled after the STORAGE mech, King Joe SC, which was modified from a King Joe that the team defeated.
    • Like in the backstory detailed in supplementary material of Ultraman Dyna where Asuka's father as Dyna gave his son the ability to transform into another Dyna, Asuka/Dyna II bestow Dinas the ability to transform into Ultraman Dinas; she herself later helps Decker get his own version of Decker's power, showcasing the true origins of Decker.
    • Gibellus' plan involves fusing human souls with the souls of kaiju to create the ultimate soldiers for him to control.
    • Kanata dies the same way Agams did in Episode 24 of Decker.
    • Decker once again uses the power of the Eternity Core against the Big Bad.
  • One-Winged Angel: Gibellus and the "Emperor Beast" Gigalogaizer are one and the same, as the former transforms into the latter to fight the heroes. He can further empower his kaiju form by combining with Zorgaus to form Zol Gigalogaizer.
  • The Reveal: Dinas became an Ultraman after being granted power by Ultraman Dyna in a pinch, this power would later lead to the creation of Ultraman Decker when Kanata had it shared to him.
  • The Stinger: The film's post-credit scene teases the next Ultraman: Ultraman Blazar.
  • Trailers Always Spoil: The trailers released early on in the middle of Decker's runtime spoiled that all the main cast of Decker would survive the series and that Terraphaser wound up back under GUTS-Select before the series' end.
  • Wham Shot: The mysterious woman prepares to fight King Joe, and pulls out her own version of D-Flasher to transform into an Ultraman: Dinas.
