Battle Against the Lynel

Link and Lochlia make up for lost time by going off to fight the Lynel on Ploymus Mountain.

Tropes:

  • Adaptation Name Change: The Lynel on Ploymus Mountain is named the Lightning Lynel by the Zora.
  • Adaptational Badass: The Lightning Lynel is the only Lynel in all of Hyrule that is and will stay red-maned, the weakest form, no matter what. This one, having been vanquished numerous times by Lochlia, is now a Golden Lynel.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Mipha and Link's nickname for their daughter was Lolita.
  • Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: Lochlia always knew that Link was in the Shrine of Resurrection explaining his absence, but it wasn't until years later that she understood why her parents weren't together.
  • Dead Guy Junior: One of Link's grandchildren is named for him, which is not this trope, but another one is named Mipha for her fallen grandmother.
  • Disappeared Dad: Given that Link was asleep for 100 years, Lochlia grew up without him, but she holds no grudges in the present...but she did in the past.
  • The Dreaded: The Lightning Lynel uses shock arrows, meaning it is extremely dangerous to the Zora. It makes it all the more impressive that Lochlia's vanquished it multiple times, even in its Golden state. One thing she does that hints at her skill is that her first order of business is to get rid of its bow so that it can't use its shock arrows.
  • Eye Scream: One of the many wounds the Lightning Lynel suffers.
  • Hates Their Parent: Lochlia resented the fact that Link wasn't present, and the fact that she didn't have her parents together with her. She realized why they couldn't be together after experiencing a Mayfly–December Friendship with a Hylian woman herself.
  • Jerkass Realization: Muzu really realizes just how horrible he had been to Lochlia and even to Mipha, and profusely apologizes for being so hateful of something that makes up much of Lochlia's ancestry.
  • Made of Iron: The Golden Lynel takes an immense amount of damage before it finally dies, suffering numerous grievous injuries that should have logically killed it.
  • Matter Replicator: It's been long established that the Sheikah Slate stores items as a kind of data-like energy, but it's confirmed here that it specifically reproduces weapons properly sized to its owner Link's use.
  • Mayfly–December Friendship: Lochlia had a Hylian Best Friend who aged to death while Lochlia herself was still a teenager. It's what made Lochlia realize the reason why her parents couldn't be together.
  • Multishot: The Lynel's bow fires off multiple arrows, and even adapts the Anti-Frustration Feature from the game by making the bows infused with magic that splits one arrow into multiple arrows.
  • Parent-Child Team: Link teams up with his daughter Lochlia to fight the Lynel on Ploymus Mountain.
  • Rasputinian Death: By the time it finally dies, the Lightning Lynel has suffered some of the worst injuries seen on a living thing in this story.
  • Suicide Mission: Lochlia had to fight against and vanquish the Lightning Lynel to finally earn the respect of her people, solely because of how many of them didn't like that she was half-Hylian. The creature wields shock arrows, just one of which can be fatal to a Zora.
  • Superpowerful Genetics: Lochlia inherited Mipha's healing power and Link's Flurry Rush.
