The 1st Battlegroup was activated by Admiral Bright Noa as part of the re-organization initiated by GUAG Command. While they possess some of the most threatening firepower in the Division, their role is mostly as peacekeepers, patrolling the borders of the Pantheon's stellar landscape (and sometimes beyond it) to prevent the GUAE Mecha Cohort from invading nearby multiverses, especially Gihren's faction. A long-term goal is for them to perfect a fullproof strategy to completely prevent colony drops and render that act of terrorism completely obsolete.

The 1st Battlegroup is but a single part of a larger whole: the 8th Starfleet of the GUAG Space Force commanded by Bright Noa from his flagship, the Ra Cailum. The commander of the battlegroup reporting to Bright is none other than celebrated UNCN officer and captain of the Yamato Juzo Okita.The most well-known ships are:

• The Yamato, the flagship of the Battlegroup commanded by Captain Susumu Kodai on behalf of Juzo Okita. Primarily used as a clearing ship to tear through enemy fleets with its Wave-Motion Gun.
• The Archangel, commanded by Captain Murrue Ramius on behalf of Kira Yamato. Leads the first flotilla of ships in the Battlegroup and is home to the legendary Yamato mobile suit team (once the Le Creuset Team): Kira Yamato, Yzak Joule, Dearka Elsman, Nicol Amalfi, Rusty Mackenzie, Miguel Aiman and Shiho Hahnenfuss.
• The Jūryoku, commanded by Rear Admiral Shu Shirakawa after his original flagship was destroyed by the GUAE Mecha Cohort. A heavily customized and purple Dogosse-Giar class battleship that leads the second flotilla of ships of the Battlegroup in black-ops missions.
• The Nahel Argama, commanded by Captain Otto Mitas. Holds several prominent pilots of the UC 0096 era, in particular Banagher Links (pilot of the Unicorn Gundam) and Riddhe Marcenas (pilot of the Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee). Bright Noa is often escorted aboard this ship whenever the Ra Cailum is out of commission.
• The Battle 7, commanded by Commodore Maximilian Jenius. The battlegroup's primary support carrier that carries a majority of its Macross units, along with sister ship SDF/C-108 Macross Elysion.

As of the re-organization, the ace of aces of this battlegroup is Captain Amuro Ray, pilot of the original RX-78-2 Gundam with 528 MS and 171 ship kills.

• Reason for Joining: A favour to Admiral Bright who got him a lifelong pension to help cure his Planet Bomb Syndrome. He was going to join the GUAG anyway but Bright's efforts to help him pretty much cemented his respect for the man and the GUAG Robot War Division. According to the good captain, "good men shouldn't be too good for this world". He was picked specifically for the Yamato's missions to maintain peace among other alien races and humanity in general, which is highly useful for the Battlegroup's peacekeeping missions.
• Loyalty to Cosmos: High. His loyalty is to anyone willing to keep the peace against anyone who seeks to hurt his crew and humanity in general. Captain Okita is glad that she is willing to consider diplomacy with even evil alien empires like the Garmillians if it means saving a few more lives in the process.
• Threat Level: Very High. Not at all a threat physically, but as a military commander and captain of the Wave-Motion Gun of the GUAG, he carries a lot of firepower, loyalty and integrity that holds his crew (and battlegroup) together like Superglue. Even with his illness, he manages to remain a Handicapped Badass despite it all. Grand Admiral Thrawn lists him as among his most immediate threats, a list which includes Admiral Kirk, General Anakin and Luke Skywalker, Leader Abelt Dessler and George Lucas.

Both want to prevent further fighting and destruction from happening in the Forever War or spreading via third-party intervention by warmongers like Azrael and Djibril.
• Loyalty to Cosmos: Medium-High. Even though he knows that Status Quo Is God and that the war he's now fighting may never end, there's always hope to be found. He knows Cosmos holds out for peace regardless of who she's fighting and he deeply respects her despite her lack of power compared to Melkor and YHVH. If he can't end the war of morality he'll keep it in a permanent stalemate and reduce casualties. His true loyalty is to Lacus so as long as she supports Cosmos, he's loyal.
• Threat Level: Very High. He has the piloting and reflexes as the Ultimate Coordinator to pose a grave threat towards any enemies he comes face to face with even without a Gundam. His attack style is among the most potent in the Division, focusing on sheer speed that allows him to cut down up dozens of enemies within a minute. This isn't helped by the fact that he has the power to harness the SEED mode, and the fact that his Gundam is designed to engage multiple targets at once.

Shu Shirakawa

• Flagship: Jūryoku (replacement after his original ship was destroyed)
• Reason for Joining: No one is really sure why he chose to side with the GUAG (if he actually does anyway, since he usually appear as their enemy, or simply a passer-by). The only logical reason for that is someone in the GUAE pissed him off, creating an Enemy Mine scenerio. Or he justs want to show off how overpowered he is towards some villains. Nevertheless, he was put in charge of black ops for the 1st Battlegroup.
• Loyalty to Cosmos: Little to none. Like (and unlike) Ryoma Nagare, he is only loyal to himself, nothing more or less, and can pull a Heel–Face Turn if he wants; thus everyone in GUAG are keeping an close eye on him whenever he "joins" them, especially Masaki Andoh. He does care about the Earth, his allies (like Bian Zoldark) and followers though, and when he is genuinely joining the team, he is someone they can rely on.
• Threat Level: EXTREME. He is just as dangerous to GUAG as he is to the other Alliances; his Neo Granzon is one of the most powerful mecha in existence that requires basically ALL members of the GUAG to stop. And after freeing himself from the bound with Volkruss, Shu can summon Neo Granzon at will, which isn't something Char wants to face in a straight fight. Fortunately (for both sides), he will just wander around the world doing his own stuff when he's not related to anything. Even without the Neo Granzon, Shu himself is a being with Nerves of Steel and extraordinary inventing and planning skills so cutting off access to his mecha won't do anything.

• Reason for Joining: Aside from Char Aznable siding with the GUAE, the eternal warfare supported by Melkor, Lucifer and Nekron (among others) does not sit well with Amuro. Most mecha pilots in the GUAG hate war even if they're Blood Knights and Amuro is no different. As much as he hates violence, he'll take to the battlefield a million times to protect those who can't protect themselves.
• Loyalty to Cosmos: Very High. The rules proposed by Cosmos are fair, and Amuro can see his 'tragic lost love' Lalah Sune in her. As the member of the Holy Quartet with the most kills (statistically), Amuro is beyond loyal to both his superiors. He is seen unofficially as the most senior pilot in the Division.
• Threat Level: EXTREME. He is to Real Robots what Ryoma is to Super Robots. And considering that he's the one who originated the term 'White Devil', Amuro is an incredibly skilled pilot and one of the greatest Newtypes in existence. To put that into perspective, he nabbed 142 mobile suit and 92 ship kills during the One Year War, only losing out to fellow Ace Pilot and now subordinate Tenneth A. Jung. However, more and more he's been taking a backseat and training the younger generation as a senior instructor in the Academy. At these times, CDR Tenneth will take over.

• Loyalty to Cosmos: High. She is quite impressed with how he believes in human possibility and its future, and he believes that with her help, he can end the constant war in the Pantheon. She reminds him of his mother.
• Threat Level: Very High. Being one of the few awakened Newtypes in the Pantheon (more so one who survived his story), his power is a credible threat. Additionally his main unit - one of the very few Gundams that is impossible to hijack - is one of the most powerful Gundams in existence, so much so that two warring factions agreed to have it sealed away out of fear of its power. Even he is wary of that unit's power to the point he uses his Silver Bullet Suppressor FAR more often.

Admiral Bright has encouraged him to embrace his nature as a Newtype after Garrod was forced to hide among humanity and deny his own abilities just to stay alive and live peacefully with Tiffa.
• Threat Level: Very High. His Gundam Double X is armed with twin Satellite Cannons that could activate once the moon appears in Double X's presence. Its massive firepower that can destroy an entire island, colony, or any other large structure in one shot. Don't test his patience.

• Reason for Joining: He resents war of any kind, probably even more than Amuro. He at first refused to join the GUAG in any military capacity, preferring to remain a doctor in the GUAG Medical Division. Everything changed when Bask Om and later Jerid Messa of the Titans ascended. He doesn't want what happened to his parents to happen to anyone else. The fact that the Titans are now in the Alliance war as part of the GUAL makes it a personal grudge.
• Loyalty to Cosmos: High. She promised not to let his allies get hurt in any way, shape or form. She personally promoted him two ranks to full Lieutenant for his Heroic Sacrifice against Paptimus Scirocco and his mental attack which drove him insane. Loyalty given.
• Threat Level: High. Due to his status as a Ace Custom and a Teen Genius, he is considered a formidable threat to the GUAE, especially when he unleashes his Newtype powers to its full potential. Said powers make him the most powerful Newtype in the Gundam multiverse, bar none. He is capable of full and sustained telepathy even when partially comatose and delirious as well as providing Newtype power to boost his fellow pilot Judau Ashta in the final battle against Haman Karn. Never underestimate Kamille even when he's out of action. It will not end well for you.

• Reason for Joining: Leo thought that it was the right thing to do after everything he has done. He seemed to have been requested to joint he group, in fact.
• Loyalty To Cosmos: High. He has a strong sense of loyalty and desire to protect others no matter what gives him a close commonality with Cosmos' desire to ensure the safety of the GUAG.
• Threat Level: First, take the already impressive Vic Viper with all of its weapons. Then, turn it into a Transforming Mecha with much better speed than the original had, which can stand up to the "superior" Orbital Frames. Then, give it to a Kid Hero, who with no former experience, managed to defeat multiple more experienced foes with the Orbital Frame Jehuty. To put it simply, high.

• Reason for Joining: To atone for the sins he committed in his past. He's been disillusioned by the lies, manipulation and blind loyalty to Durandal that led him down his path of carnage. He also wants to get mentorship from pilots than Athrun who have endured worse trials than him and come out stable. One model he particularly respects is Rear Admiral Kira Yamato, now his captain's superior.
• Loyalty to Cosmos: Medium-High. With the caveat that he join the GUAG Ministry Of Atonement and engage in Gunpla Battle (that's where he met Sekai Kamiki) before getting back into the pilot's seat, she's accepted him with open arms. Shinn is a bit wary of her, since he was manipulated by a seemingly well-meaning person into a Complete Monster and he doesn't want that happening. Cosmos hasn't proven any of that so far to her credit.
• Threat Level: High. Like Kira, he has expert piloting skills, but unlike him, he does not have the restraint that prevents him from going SAVAGE mode. A volatile EXTREME should he go berserk again. While he's sworn off excessive violence, Shinn still has a short temper that could easily threaten a maelstrom anytime he's under extreme stress or goading from pilots like Ali al-Saachez. Luckily there's more powerful mecha that can restrain and deactivate the Destiny if necessary.

More so that Zarkon and the Galra Empire have now ascended into the Pantheon with plans to destroy the entire Robot War Division and thus any hope the team has of striking back at them.
• Threat Level: EXTREME. Voltron itself is one thing but the Castle of Lions and the IGF Atlus can make any unprepared army go running. EXTREMEST OF EXTREMES if they summon any (or all) previous incarnations of Voltron for a big crossover battle.

It also possesses several armored forms and the 'Victory' core block system that allows it to change out damaged parts in the middle of a battle. Uso himself has an obscenely high kill count and emerged as one of the sole survivors of a war which killed nearly everyone who participated in it. He may or may not be a direct descendant of Char Aznable, and it shows in his strategic and daring piloting style.

• Loyalty to Cosmos: High. She wants galactic peace as much as he does. He also sees a lot of Freyja and Mirage in her. But military-wise, Hayate is very disloyal, pulling off blatantly undisciplined combat skills and attacks, which makes him to Bright's standards a Nominal Hero. Hayate doesn't care that much but genuinely respects his commanders even if he hates following orders.
• Threat Level: Moderate to High. While very unorthodox and despised sometimes by the other pilots, his ability to pull off dance moves with his mech make him useful in evasive maneuvers and unconventional attack patterns.

• Threat Level: Moderate. While she may have been through a lot, she is still a trained and deadly Cyber Newtype. She is constantly threatened by the prospect of capture and mental reconditioning at several points during her service but is still resolutely independent regardless. Her Kshatriya is a master of long-range psycommu combat unless all twenty-four of her funnels are offlined.

Mirage has repeatedly stated that she's moved past the debacle with Hayate and doesn't want pity.
• Threat Level: Moderate. Despite being a descendant of famed captain and pilot Maximillian Jenius, her skills are - average. Her style is too by the book and predictable, so she relies on Hayate's unorthodox fighting style to balance her out. She's improving though.

• Reason for Joining: Because it's the right thing to do! It also gives him the chance to fulfill his greatest dream of being a good ol' Super Robot hero fighting against ultimate evil. Plus, his obsession with mecha only makes his desire to fight among the great that more apparent. He was posted to Shirakawa's flagship as a pilot-in-training before receiving a full commission.
• Loyalty to Cosmos: He's a good guy, she's Good incarnate. He's totally loyal.
• Threat Level: Moderate to High, alone. His Psychodriver power is not to be underestimated. Becomes Extreme if he calls forth his friends and form up those… Combining Mechas listed below. Those are some of the most goddamn powerful mechas in existence.
• Main Unit: Real Personal Trooper Type-1. In times when the stakes get too high, he is able to call up his friends Raidiese F. Branstein and Aya Kobayashi to form up the SRX. Take it higher, and he calls forth Mai Kobayashi to form up the SRX Altered Banpreios.

• Threat Level: High. She possesses the Kanashimi no Otome, her Sphere which uses her despair to transport her through dimensions, possibly warping the very concept of reality itself. Her upgraded Virgola Glory has a Mitigation Engine to prevent her losing her senses to her powers.

• Reason for Joining: No longer part of Teiwaz, Naze and his Top Wife Amida were immediately invited to the GUAG. Seeing that Mika and Orga were already in the Division and with the promise of helping other disenfranchised souls in the Pantheon, Naze immediately accepted a captain's commission in the Robot War Division. Amida is loyal to her husband to the very end (literally) and followed.
• Loyalty to Cosmos: High. Both have an intense motherly instinct and a desire to protect the men under their charge. For the sake of Turbines and the Tekkadan soldiers under her charge, she'll fight to the last man to protect the lot of them.
• Threat Level: Moderate to High. She's one of the best pilots from her homeworld despite not being a user of the Alaya-Vijnana System. She's able to hold her ground reasonably well from literal god units like Ryoma Nagare's Super Getter Robo and Banagher's Unicorn Gundam. She was a mercenary before founding Turbines so she knows her shit.

• Reason for Joining: For Axel, he's trying to find a reason to live without warmongering. The GUAE once goaded him to return to his old living style, he refused. The moment he heard that Beowulf might be amongst the ranks of GUAE, he actively opposes them. For Lamia, to ensure that those like her are allowed to have free will, and two, to prove that Juergen's "victory" over her was truly a fluke. Both have one commaon goal: to defeat the GUAE's Cypha of Huckebein, not only for horribly wounding Signum the same way Juergen 'beat' her, reliving her of the bad memories, Lamia thinks her actions defiled the sacred name of 'Huckebein' which has been praised as one of the Super Robots that defended the force of good, thus she's out to make Cypha pay.
• Loyalty to Cosmos: Medium to High. For Axel, Cosmos has convinced him that there IS a way to live without warmongering, so Axel is loyal to her just as long as she doesn't lie. For Lamia, a lot of Gods ridiculed Lamia on how she got 'beaten' by Juergen. Cosmos was one of the deities that kept believing and supporting her, giving her enough confidence to stand on her own. For that, she's grateful and placed her trust on Cosmos.
• Threat Level: For Axel, Moderate to High. This guy's determination to NOT DIE is just first class, and he has always refused to go back to his old lifestyle (which would be beneficial to Melkor). For Lamia, Low to Moderate Used to be Moderate, but once Melkor learned about the incident with Juergen, he immediately puts Lamia into 'Those hit with Badass Decay/Chickification List' and thinks she'll never restore her status. Recently went up to Medium and possibly High after the fall of Euzeth Gozzo as Lamia continued to serve the side of Good without blunders and not even falling into some angst due to her previous loss, destroying Melkor's perception of her being hit with Badass Decay/Chickification and goes back to her original threat level.

Many heroes don't want to see normal deities in situations such as prostitution or poverty and appreciate Naze's efforts to save girls from such fates. Cosmos being one of them is only icing on the cake.
• Threat Level: Don't let his playboy persona fool you, it's Moderate to High. He's a suave and competent military commander who isn't afraid to pull punches and play very, very dirty if it means saving a few lives and winning a battle against the GUAG. Amida is his blazing sword and when he's angry, she and the rest of Turbines are angry. Hurt him, and you make Orga angry. Never make him, Turbines, and by extension Tekkadan angry. He's also a mentor to some of the Gunpla battlers in the Pantheon (like Fellini, a herald he treats like a younger brother), so don't say he's never fought in a mobile suit. He doesn't need to, but if you make him enter a mobile suit, You Are Already Dead.
