Film: William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet
aka: William Shakespeares Romeoand Juliet

"Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene. From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes, a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life."

Modern adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet directed by Baz Luhrmann. It notably updates the setting to modern California (in a fictional modern American/Hispanic city called "Verona Beach"), but keeps most of the original dialogue from the play, creating a rather unique adaptation.

Of course, most of the tropes which apply to Romeo and Juliet also apply to this film.
