Kryalla Orchid

  • If you like Starfire/Robin or BB/Raven, this author is the one you should check out. This author puts a lot of detail and emotion into her fanfics. She has two series of stories that she has put much detail into. Her first series is called e'ara universe series, which focuses on Starfire and Robin's relationship and marriage. She puts much detail into developing the Tamaranian society and culture. Her second series is called Touch series, which is mostly about how Starfire and Dick try to work through the hardships of their relationship. One of these stories takes place in Gotham City where Starfire gets to meet the Batfamily. Kryalla also incorporates some traits from the canon comics as well. The author has moved on to other fandoms but all her Teen Titans stories are complete.

  • The best Robin writer you'll find. All of her fics (she has unfortunately written only seven TT fics total) are very popular. Her stories are so gripping, emotional and are just dripping with glorious angst. I cried at the ending of two of them. She explores Robin's mentality and his vulnerability as a human being, and writes him perfectly. Plus her perfect incorporation of the Justice League and Batman. Her fics Return Of the Joker and Never Alone are listed below.
    • Oh man, she writes Batman's interactions with Robin so amazingly that you'll be gushing/awwing/crying buckets by the time you're done.

  • A truly excellent Robin/Raven writer. A staple for anyone who ships the birds.

beautifulpurpleflame

  • If you like Beast Boy/Raven, this is the place to go. If you don't, avoid her. There are 51 fics in her collection, most of which are irrelevant to each other, so you're bound to find something you like. There's normally some Robin/Starfire and/or (usually and) Cyborg/Bumblebeee in her stories as well, but she manages to avoid making any of her couples take a true back seat more often than not. She even brings Kid Flash/Jinx and a few other miscellaneous couples into the mix occasionally. Not all of her fics are focussed on romance (only most of them); there's plenty of fluff to go around. A few of her fics (admittedly what This Troper thinks are some of the lower-quality ones) don't have any romance or fluff to them. This Troper won't pretend to have read all 51 of beautifulpurpleflame's (usually very long) stories, but she's a consistently good writer even in her early work.

  • I always take the opportunity to recommend her fanfiction, so I thought I'd just flat-out recommend the author herself. Her fanfiction is a goldmine if you love Robin-vs-Slade fanfiction (and want to find quality Apprentice fanfiction that isn't Sladin). She's written several Apprentice fanfictions — including a grand total of three AU fanfics (the later two, especially — "Northern Star" and "In Too Deep" — are well worth a read) — and an amazing fanfic which is an expansion of the episode Haunted, as well as several comedy oneshots. Her Slade incorporates much from Deathstroke's comic incarnations, fleshing him out as a character whilst keeping him true to the animated Slade.

  • This author tends to write Beast Boy/Raven fanfics with rather interesting and creative uses of Beas Boy's powers. If you want to see BB taking out Slade, a god, or an entire alien race (and all of that in more or less legitimate ways), or saving a dying planet, then that is the writer for you. Oh, and of course he gets the girl at the end.

  • A lot of Beast Boy/Anyone romance, including a novel length fic of Beast Boy/Everyone at once (well, just about). Has oneshot collections, crossovers, A Us... The grammar and spelling could use a bit of improvement, though.

Jack Mirembe

  • A BBRae-centric author with a gothic writing style. He loves writing trauma, angst, and bittersweet situations, (focusing especially on Beast Boy being a child soldier and Raven barely in control of herself at all times), but every single piece is so heartbreakingly good that you can't stop reading it. His story collection Mechanics has already been recommended below, but just as good are Irretrievable (a oneshot from the POV of Rita Farr) and Enough (one of the first stories published and one that really captures the writer's distinct tone).

    General Fics
Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

Coincidence and Misunderstandings by Silently-Watches

  • Recommended by: silvercover
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: The Azarathian coming of age is only a few short months away for Raven, and she is struggling with some ugly truths about herself. Can a bubblegum haired thief set her straight, or just confuse her even more?
  • Pairing(s): Raven/Jinx
  • Tags: Adventure, Romance, Misunderstandings, AU
  • Comments: This is a fanfic where we get to see Raven face her heritage and origin in order to come to terms with herself and grow as a person of her own. It is very well done and the author really knows how to capture the characters. It is somewhat similar to Left to Love, another fanfic that's actually recommended down below, except that this one focuses less on the character relationships and more so on the character's struggles.
    • Lustheron: Better than it sounds. An interesting look how Poor Communication Kills can affect the team. Raven assumes that if the Titans want to know more about her and her culture, they'd ask. The Titans all assume that if she wants them to know more about her and her culture, she'll tell them. Currently has a sequel, Consequence of Misunderstandings (Complete), up and a Tropes page'' in desperate need of some love.
    • cinemamaster: Coincidence and Consequence are two of the best TT fanfics on the site — it explores Raven and Jinx, focusing on how the two found themselves to be in love and their pasts. Silently Watches diverges from the source material just enough to make a profound impact, borrowing from the comics as well.

Transition by Concolor44

  • Recommended by: Muppet
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Jinx/Raven, Robin/Starfire
  • Synopsis: Raven has vanished and the Titans aren't handling it well. But is she really in any danger? Changes are coming fast, and few things are what they seem. This is intense in spots. Rated for yuri, violence, insanity, mentions of past rape, and a high body count. Rae/Jinx - Rob/Star - crazy Terra - crazier BB - and possibly the largest OC anyone has ever seen.

Opening the Closet Door a Crack by still too old for this

  • Recommended by: ijp92, lindabhair, necrolectric, Ragnar The Semi Green
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Requested to find a missing professor of anthropology, the Titans begin a descent into the darkness where dwell madness and evil. Mystery and horror await our intrepid heroes. As for survival, that remains to be seen.
  • Pairing(s): Raven/Beast Boy and Starfire/Robin
  • Tags: Horror, Adventure
  • Comments: Its the Teen Titans versus Chuthlu. Don't need to know Lovecraft to enjoy. The narration is really good.
    • I agree with the previous Troper. But, having read almost all of the works mentioned in this story, I was absolutely terrified and knew, to a certain extent, what would happen in the story. I had to stop several times at the very BEGINNING because I knew what it would eventually lead to.
    • One of the most utterly terrifying and brilliant pieces of fan fiction I've ever read. Literally couldn't sleep after I've read it. I stayed up and watched whatever I had, just so I wouldn't fall asleep. Paranoia is dangerous!
    • Of course, it also comes with plenty enough funny and light moments for everyone... but yes, it is terrifying, and very dark overall. Highly recommended.
    • I concur with all of the above tropers, but wanted to add that knowledge of the Teen Titans universe isn't precisely necessary to enjoy this story either, particularly if you are familiar with Lovecraft. Although, after reading this story, I do kind of want to know more about the characters, so that I may savor their fates yet more.

Basic Skill by ReddoCreep

  • Recommended by: Lucyinthe Sky 111
  • Status: Dead (last update August 2012)
  • Synopsis: Slade might have Robin blackmailed into working for him, but he can't get him to kill anyone. That's no good for an assassin's apprentice.
  • Comments: It might not sound like much, but it's all about the delivery. Robin's inner battles are really well done and it's written beautifully. Plus the plot is full of twists, dark humor and great character moments. There's also no slash, just a really messed up father-son type relationship.
    • The rest of the fic is here. The author can't connect to their old account, but the story is full.

Deadpool and the Teen Titans by Blues32

  • Recommended by: Noxshade
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Slade hires Deadpool to go assassinate the Titans; Terra is part of the group, and there is an Original Character who is Raven's boyfriend (you can skip the one scene they have together and assign his lines to someone else if you're really that upset over him.)
  • Comments: Utterly hilarious. The author captures the chaotic energy of Deadpool perfectly, and although Wade does hog the spotlight a bit, it has such gems as Deadpool asking Slade how many buttons he has that control the huge screens in his lair and Deadpool trying to hook up with Starfire (and failing in the most spectacular way possible). Writing and characterization are spot-on.
    • Given that it's Deadpool, Deviantart.com won't let you read the comic unless you have an account that confirms your age.

The Joker's Wild, Recovery, and Titanomachy by jarec

  • Recommended by: Known Unknown
  • Status: Complete, Complete, and Ongoing
  • Synopsis: Out of the goodness of his heart, The Joker comes to Jump City! And nothing will ever be the same once the Clown Prince Of Crime is done with our heroes...
  • Pairing(s): Beast Boy/Raven, briefly Beast Boy/Cassandra Cain, Robin/Starfire, Joker/Harley
  • Tags: Mystery, Adventure, Crime
  • Comments: This fanfic is just well written and (as an all important addendum) doesn't take itself too seriously, balancing out drama and lighthearted antics is such a way that you'd think it's canon. The author specifically states that he tries not to fall into the same mistakes that many other fanfics do, and he not only notes his own mistakes but requests for his readers to correct him if necessary; he even shows extreme dedication towards explaining any divergence he makes instead of just making things happen. Here, the writer mixes elements from the Teen Titans series, from the Batman comics, and even takes some influence from Batman: The Animated Series. The characters are all entirely IC, and though romance is a big part for the story, it never distracts from the main story.
    • 'Very well done. Early on it seems like the author is using the story to punish certain characters, Gizmo in particular (not that I haven't wanted to do the same). But besides that, its well written, keeps the characters true to their roots while still developing them, and have a great third act. 4.5/5 -Har D Har Koopa
    • It's not a bad fic, but the Joker comes too close to Villain Sue mode for me. Everybody's scared to death of him, the narrative lovingly describe how evil and deranged he is and goes out of its way to show how none of the other villains are worth anything compared to him, and the author's notes occasionally get a little obsessive the character. I like the Joker and think he's a great character, but in this he was so hyped up as the ultimate villain that I actually started to get a little annoyed by him. I actually found the story most entertaining when the Joker wasn't on-screen, which is... a unique experience for me, to say the least. -Roo
    • Kriegsmesser: A good fic, definitely, but the fight scenes feel shallow and rushed, and the climax is a bit underwhelming. Still a good read, definitely. Raven(!!!)'s sudden "I have a boyfriend, so I'm going to treat the rest of you like crap now" attitude at the start of Recovery was a bit much for me, though.

Jinx's Alphabet by The Lady of the Willows

  • Recommended by: J The Drafter
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: The ramifications for Jinx on betraying her friends, using the letters of the alphabet. Remember how Jinx just casually blasted the people she spent a significant amount of her life with into unconsciousness, without showing any sign that she cared about them? This story explores how Jinx felt about what she'd done.

Those Ravaging Nightmares by Kansi-a-lari

  • Recommended by: J The Drafter
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A oneshot showing how Starfire's captivity among the Gordanians and Psions shaped and influenced her character.
  • Comments: Remember what a badass Starfire was in Go? She's the main character here. The story is grim but ultimately hopeful. I wish we could have seen more of this characterization in canon.

The Black, the White, and the Red by GuardianSoulBlade

  • Synopsis: Discover the origins of Red X. How does he know martial arts? How does he know how to use the equipment? And why would he help the Titans when he only looks out for himself? Here's why, he's someone from Robin's past.
  • Tags: Tragedy, Adventure
  • Comments: A "Red X is Jason Todd" fic written well enough to make you believe it's canon. Unfortunately, it's a Dead Fic, though the chapter it ends on at least gives a partially satisfying ending.

Disorderly Conduct by Accusation

  • Recommended by: Sackett
  • Status: Dead (last update December 2005)

Avatar, Adaptation, and Absolution by Cyberwraith9

  • Recommended by: Silver
  • Status: Complete, Complete, Dead (last update December 2013)
  • Synopsis: "what if" story of Robin acquiring super powers.
  • Comments: A truly epic tale, thoroughly exploring every Teen Titans hero and villain the author can get his hands on. It includes elements from DCAU on the sidelines and occasionally interacts with them. There is some Robin/Starfire shipping, but not as the focus of the fics. Avatar and Adaption are completed, but Absolution is most unfortunately dead.

Christmas with the Graysons by Kryalla Orchid

  • Recommended by: Gwen Stacy Wannabe
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Future-fic set maybe 10 years or so after the series, though the rest of the team and Batman show up too.
  • Pairing(s): RobStar, BBRae, Cyborg/Bumblebee, Kid Flash/Jinx
  • Comments: Actually the ending of a series by the author, but you don't have to read those to understand it (especially if you're up to par on knowledge of the Bat-verse, as Bats, Alfred, and Babs all make appearances). Quite a bit of Robin/Starfire but it's not a straight-up romance fic, more family fic. Take your insulin beforehand.

Shadows of the Mind by Talen Kurikson

  • Recommended by Gracie Geek
  • Status: Dead
  • Synopsis: Without the memories of his past, how can Robin make choices about his future, especially with Slade whispering in his ear?
  • Comments: Very unfortunately a long Dead Fic, and there are only three chapters. However, what is there is very good, and I continue to live in hope that it will be revived at some point.

Litany by Rabula Tasa

  • Recommended by Known Unknown
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: After being victim a series of pranks, Raven confronts Beast Boy, accidentally Mind Raping him in the process. Now they must both deal with the doubts and consequences of her Disproportionate Retribution.
    • Comments: A well written fic with a few twists on a very common setting. Gets a little fluffy towards the end, but very effective at the beginning.

These Black Eyes by Space is a Waste (formerly Post)

  • Recommended by Alter Alias, necrolectric
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: In the author's own words: "Noir, an incredibly overpowered Gary Stu, joins the animated Teen Titans. During his tenure with the heroic youngsters, many grammatical errors are made, many gross atrocities of the first-person narrative are committed, and a bunch of bloody drama is spilt in the name of lifeless nerdiness."
  • Comments: An enjoyably silly ride with believable character development and excessive quantities of awesomeness.
    • Warning: this story clocks in at over 2,500,000 words. No, that's not a typo. It's great fun, but don't take it on lightly.
    • Comartemis: Methinks the author is either being hugely sarcastic or isn't giving himself enough credit.
    • greymagick711: This fic is exciting—the action scenes are great and played out much like comic books, complete with Written Sound Effect. Everyone gets character development, and the arcs are wonderfully long.

Melody's Shadow by Lord Belgarion

  • Recommended by Forumite X
  • Status: Dead (last update November 2011)
  • Synopsis: Follows both the Titans as they investigate the mysterious Gemini Industries and a young cowboy, recently arrived in Jump City, who gets involved with Slade and his new OC Apprentice.
  • Comments: A reboot of a previous story by the author (Titan's Song, since deleted from FFN.Net), MS is of high quality in both plot and writing. While mostly serious, it seems to be increasing in its funny moments. Well worth a look.

Impact by nosilencehere

  • Recommended by Lua
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: As a result of a robbery gone wrong and an overenthusiastic security guard, Robin ends up in a locked room with a Red X with a gunshot wound. Dialogue happens.
  • Comments: Yes, that really is the entire plot. It's still a lovely exploration of the similarities and differences between Robin and Red X, which seems completely in character for both of them. The author's Red X-voice in particular is great — she manages to add some depth to the character, while retaining the snark and without diving headfirst into Wangst. The sequel, Saves the Day, is worth reading too — sadly the series seems abandoned.
    • Dead Link. Anyone with access to an unbroken link is invited to put it up.

Custody by Rena Redhead

  • Recommended by Kitsu
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Loopholes, deception, disappearances. Puzzle pieces that need to be put together. A villain watches from the corner of his only eye the Boy Wonder. But Robin has another problem, too. It's an ever-growing fight with the Dark Knight. A father son story.
  • Comments: I honestly don't know where to begin. If I started listing off everything that I loved about this fic... actually, it would probably be the fic itself. Because there was little, if anything, that I didn't adore. Everyone's in character, and the extended DCAU gets in on it in the form of the Justice League and everyone's favorite Gothamites and Metropolitans, along with certain comic book characters. It gets violent, but the writing is more than amazing enough to keep me hooked. The only other thing I'll trust myself with saying about it is to READ IT. NOW.
    • Seconded. Anything by Rena Redhead is well worth reading but Custody is her magnum opus and best work yet. All the character interactions are spot-on, Crowning Moments of Awesome abound, and Slade gets some of best and creepiest Hannibal Lectures in Titans fanfic ever. There's also some small Robin/Starfire for a mini romance arc, but it's mostly understated. Well worth the read.

Mechanics by Jack Mirembe

  • Recommended by Lady Nomad
  • Status: Dead (last update January 2016)
  • Pairings: Beast Boy and Cyborg friendship
  • Synopsis: A huge series of drabbles about the friendship between Beast Boy and Cyborg.
  • Comments: This series is incredible. There are a vast number of drabbles that range from humor to drama to just poignant. Everyone is in character and it's fun to read. If you have time, feel free to read whatever you want, as there are over fifty drabbles in the series.

Titans Tales by Tari Silmarwen

  • Recommended by omegaman
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Robin/Starfire, Beast Boy/Raven, Kid Flash/Jinx, Cyborg/Sarah Simms, Hot Spot/Argent
  • Synopsis: A large collection of one-shots ranging from humorous to romantic to dramatic, taking place at various points of time during and after the show.
  • Comments: One of the best Titans fics out there, and definitely one of the best Titans anthologies. The stories are well-written, mostly free of errors, and have great characterizations. Prefers canon and semi-canon shippings to fanon, but aside from that most any Teen Titans fan can find a story they would enjoy, as there's a metaphorical buffet to choose from, including some genuinely chilling Slade stories.

Whitewater by GuardianSaiyoko

  • Recommended by omegaman
  • Status: Dead
  • Pairings: Beast Boy/Raven, Robin/Starfire, Kid Flash/Hot Spot
  • Synopsis: A anthology collection of stories, mainly Slice of Life. The majority focuses on Beast Boy and Raven, but there is enough stories to please fans of all characters.
  • Comments: One of the best Teen Titans anthologies, inspired an increase in the number of Teen Titans anthologies fics, and was fairly well-known during its heyday.

Dust by Hanna Sedai

  • Recommended by omegaman
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Minor Starfire/Robin, Beast Boy/Terra
  • Synopsis: Takes place after the Teen Titans Season 3 episode "Haunted". After Robin's physical brutalization and psychological traumatization at the hands of the illusionary Slade, an unseen foe begins launching a series of personal attacks on the Teen Titans, of which Robin's was the first. As Robin struggles against the threat of a nervous breakdown, he leads the Titans, with the sometimes aid of the Justice League, against this evil. Throughout it all, the specter of Slade casts a shadow, and Robin grapples with the question of why Slade wanted him as his apprentice.
  • Comments: A masterpiece. The characterizations are spot-on, the Slade flashbacks truly chilling, and the mystery engrossing. Fans of ''Custody' like I am, will truly enjoy this.

Never Again by Coeus

  • Recommended by Gracie Geek
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Suggested BB/Raven, but you can ignore the subtext if you want.
  • Synopsis: Beast Boy took a deep breath, tightening his grip on her hand. "I did something, Raven. Something bad. And now I have to go someplace where I can try to get control of it. I can't let it take over again. Never again." Oneshot
  • Comments: Dark Fic, starring the Beast from "The Beast Within." The ending is sort of rushed, but it's otherwise a very good (and heartbreaking) oneshot.

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Starfire by Karkadinn

  • Recommended by Not JM Keynes, Zenfrodo
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A splinter group of a Christian church starts idolizing Starfire, of all people, as an angel! Dealing with this mundane but stressful issue in turn causes the Titans to debate their own spiritual beliefs..
  • Comments: It has been said on this very wiki, more than one time, that religion and fanfiction shouldn't mixnote , but I'd like to invoke Sturgeon's Law on this fic. The idea that Starfire is hailed by a group of mislead, but well-intentioned, Christians is the kicker for a really interesting dialogue between faith and worldviews among the heroes, and the aesop is reasonable enough for anyone, independent of religion or lack of it. Also a warning: the fic has a lot of funny moments and a severe Mood Whiplash in later chapters.
    • HIGHLY seconded! Funny, touching, thought-provoking, and scary as hell, it brings in Christianity without being preachy in the slightest and shows respect to the variety of beliefs that the Titans have.

Robin Has A Heart Attack by Karkadinn

  • Recommended by Zenfrodo
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: When Robin has a stress-induced heart attack, the other Titans all react in their own unique ways to prevent any undue stress from hurting him further. However, trying to keep people from being stressed has its own funny way of stressing them out....
  • Pairings: Robin/Starfire, Cyborg/Beastboy (though NOT what you think and NOT slash: the author neatly inverts/subverts/just plain 'verts all expectations))
  • Comments: Take the active and leadership-obsessed Robin, put him in a position where he's not allowed to do anything that might cause stress, add to it Starfire's insistence that "the Batman" show fatherly love towards his ward (and an increasingly ramped-up, hysterical stalk of Bats that takes 6 Titans, Question, Catwoman, and most of JLA to finally pull off), mix with the typical villains suddenly finding themselves on the receiving end of stressed-out Titans...HYSTERICAL. The writer has the characters down cold; her two tales capture the feel of the show perfectly!

The Art Of Seduction by Hanna Sedai

  • Recommended by Gracie Geek
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Slade takes Robin to a bar to pick up chicks. Hilarity ensues.
  • Pairings: None — so it's not slash.
  • Comments: Written as a companion for her Apprentice AU, Northern Star (Complete), but it's not necessary to read both (though I would recommend it) — all you need to know is that, during the fic, Robin is still Slade's apprentice. Has its serious moments and some angsting, but plenty of drunken hilarity. Not quite AU enough to file under the AU section.

Starless by Oracle In Vayne

  • Recommended by Brain Sewage
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: "Beast Boy intrudes upon what may be Raven's last visit to the rooftop."
  • Pairings: Beast Boy/Raven
  • Comments: Short but effective portrait of an awful moment for Beast Boy. A bit flowery at times, but very believable in the context of the series, and the flashbacks are a nice touch.
    • Subversion Station: I'm gonna have to call YMMV on this one. It's melodramatic, and while the flashbacks are well-written, the way the author formats it is distracting.

Ten Little Titans

  • Recommended by Chesire
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: The Titans are trapped in the Tower with a murderer.
  • Pairings: Robin/Starfire
  • Comments: Chilling but well written. In the later chapters there may be some OOC moments, but they can be Handwaved as the result of all the stress the Titans are under. A dark and haunting read.

What's in a Nameby HotaruofKonoha

  • Recommended by Gr3mlinify
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: While out on the town, Cyborg is called a racial slur by an ungrateful civilian. Cyborg and Starfire have a heartfelt discussion about why something stupid like a word can still hurt someone who identifies as an outsider.
  • Comments: A very well-written oneshot that works as a deconstruction of the "Troq" episode while still being creative and insightful in its own right. Notable for its treatment of a sensitive subject with intelligent analysis rather than just a hamfisted indictment.

The Wicked One by Zeer

  • Recommended by: CJ Croen 1393
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Blackfire unfreezes Kyd Wykkyd and tells him that if he helps her escape from her prison, she'll help the HIVE Five escape from theirs. He accepts, only to realize that his decision to help her might not have been a good idea...
  • Pairing(s): A few Ship Teases between Kyd and Raven and some mention of Kyd/Angel, but otherwise lacks these.
  • Comments: When I went into this fic, I was skeptical and totally expected a full on Draco in Leather Pants treatment on poor Kyd. I was pleasantly surprised. While he is portrayed sympathetically and is given an attempt at a Freudian Excuse, the story does nothing to hide the fact that Kyd is, well, a villain and has no regrets for his life of crime. He might skirt the Marty Stu line a little, but he's still given some good, steady characterization, as are See-More, Jinx (who is not bashed for betraying the HIVE Five, which pleases me greatly; if anything, she's a major woobie), Herald, Malchior, Warp and Blackfire. The story is pretty interesting too, and Kyd's hopes of getting his friends freed humanizes him a bit. If you're a fan of this surprisingly popular background villain, then I highly recommend this fic.

Origins by Redbyrd

  • Recommended by Harry BC Dresden
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Follows Dick Grayson in college as he meets Rachel Roth, Garfield Logan and Victor Stone in an original and rather realistic origin story for the Titans.
  • Pairings: None to speak of.
  • Comments: A nice take on the growth from normal teens to actual heroes that seems rather rare. All the characters get attention except Starfire, who has not yet appeared. Its sequel, Beginnings, has been abandoned, but the four chapters it has are at least good for some minor continuation of the first fic.

Fissure by Menamebephil

  • Synopsis: A devastating attack sends two lonely and despondent figures tumbling through the ether. Can they put aside their differences, find their way home, and perhaps find happiness at the same time? Probably not, but what can you do? BB/Jinx. Hells yeah.
  • Pairings: Beast Boy/Jinx
  • Comments: A very interesting story. Beginning literally the day after the battle against Trigon, the story is compelling and funny, and explores quite a few interesting points, including how Beast Boy view all the Ship Tease between Raven and Robin. Sadly a Dead Fic, but what is written is pure gold.

Never Alone by Melimsah

  • Recommended by Dommie 222
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: It was supposed to be over. The reagent was gone from his system, and all the lights were on... so... how could he still be seeing Slade...? Immediately follows the events of "Haunted."
  • Comments: As mentioned in the synopsis, this fanfic take place immediately after the episode Haunted, and it's about on how Robin continue to see Slade despite his body being clean of the mind-dust and not showing any other physical fault. An intensely chilling and frightening story about one KidHero's mind that seems to lose itself to the brink of insanity, and it gets more and more intense with each chapter as Slade shows up increasingly frequently and aggressively. A big must to any Robin, Teen Titans or insanity-themed story fan. And to add the awesomeness, Batman appears as well and plays a huge role near the end.

Revenge of the Joker by Melimsah

  • Recommended by Gracie Geek and Fruitysailor 17
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Robin gets kidnapped by an old "friend," and the Titans find themselves searching desperately for their leader, with little luck. Torture, angst, despair, destruction, death... can they save him?
  • Comments: The basic premise of this fanfic is: taking the Joker Junior flashback scene from Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker and adapting it to involve Dick (Robin) instead of Tim. You think this fanfic will hold no suspense or surprise for you? You think that you've already seen the film, seen the flashback, so you know what will happen? You don't. This author does more than copy and paste the exact same scenario, she expands upon it (in realistic, gruesome and heartwrenching detail), throws in subplots and Titans-family-fluff and takes the reader on twists and turns that they would not expect even if they know the original scene like the back of their hand. It also focuses on the Titans' efforts to save him and their reactions, and includes Batman (whose incorporation into the story is brilliant), the JLA and the Titans East. While the first few earlier chapters and Starfire's dialogue are unimpressive (the latter of which the author can't seem to get quite right), the author's capability to write the emotions of characters shines brilliantly as the story progresses into an utterly heart-wrenching story that portrays Robin's humanity and vulnerability absolutely perfectly; you'll be begging to save Robin yourself. Grab the Kleenex, you're in for a ride.

  • Synopsis: A one-eyed psycho chick, a partially reformed alien despot, and a kid who basically sold his soul to the devil... People always told Gar that he was overly optimistic, but he was feeling really good about this new team.
  • Comments: Future!fic wherein the older Beast Boy a.k.a. Changeling, Ravager, an anti-heroic Blackfire and Kid Devil form their own team, combining elements of the animated universe with elements of the DC comic universe to create something unique. A lot of familiar faces from the comics make appearances, including some pretty obscure ones.

  • Synopsis: A three-point Blackfire redemption series, the first of which places the Titans (including BF) in a mysterious dimension, the second and third has her adjusting to her life and focuses more on the the Titans and a new group of villains, as well as old ones.
  • Comments: A very impressive (and underrated) series. Features a large cast, many of which are original characters that are handled well and are very interesting at points. The fic as a whole centers around Blackfire and her attempts at redemption, as well as her relationship with Starfire. This troper cannot recommend this series enough.
  • Note: The first two fics are complete, but the third fic seems dead in the water. It's worth noting that the second fic ends on a high note, so whether you even bother with the third one or not is up to you.

  • Status: Dead, on (possibly) permanent Hiatus
  • Synopsis: Six heroes. One city. One mastermind. This a reboot of the animated series, told in outlines of each episode. The characters and stories are familiar, but with new twists. The Titans will face off against threats such as the Fearsome Five, the Puppeteer, and many others while also trying to solve the mystery of the man behind it all: Who is Slade?
  • Comment: A half reboot, half reimagining of the animated Teen Titans series. It's just an outline, but the fic shows a lot of respect for both the cartoon and the original, (though it seems to lean more toward the New Teen Titans comics). I highly recommend giving it a read.

  • Synopsis: Who will break whom? "BB, when you deprive something, it starves," she all but whispered. "So then, when you give it a taste, it becomes ravenous."
  • Comments: A VERY well thought out look at what would happen if Raven started to lose control of herself and her Depravity began to take hold - with Beast Boy as it's sole target. WARNING - contains sexual content that is both unflinchingly descriptive and emotionally charged — but, to the authors credit, is never gratuitous or unnecessary.
    • The perfect balance between sexiness and characterization. I was overwhelmed with joy when I know this fic has a sequel.
    • foxkindle: Brilliant fic. The sequel Novo is ongoing. Last update was in January, but the author stated on her tumblr (in June) that the fic is not dead or dormant. Novo has three chapters out at the moment, and it seems like it's going to be just as good as Breaker.

  • Synopsis: Terra has betrayed the Titans, but Robin isn't quite ready to give up on her just yet. He will bring her back to her senses... even if he has to beat her to a bloody pulp first.
  • Comments: A re-imagining of the showdown in Aftershock that turns Robin's battle with Terra into a chapter-long Crowning Moment of Awesome as Robin breaks out every dirty trick in the book to break through Slade's More than Mind Control, including the single most awesome Hannibal Lecture this troper has ever heard.
    • In this tropers opinion, the writing borders on Purple Prose (I sometimes found myself skimming over paragraphs of description with little negative affect on following the plot), and the chunky paragraphs are sort of off-putting, though it is otherwise quite good (even if I do think Robin's actions are almost unnecessarily brutal).

  • Pairing: Jinx/Raven
  • Synopsis: After the usual quick-heel-turn necessary for all Jinx/Raven romances, the two sorceresses grow closer as Raven watches over Jinx in her most difficult assignment yet; finding a steady job. The ending will leave you speechless.
  • Comments: I like yuri. I'm not ashamed to admit it. But I really feel I have to recommend this story on the simple basis that it's GOOD. The author goes to great lengths over details (a conversation on arcane gems and daggers immediately springing to my mind), and one of my favorite recurring details is the fact that while Jinx has pale skin, she is in fact still Indian, and a devout Hindu at that. The details help to build the characters' personalities, culminating in a rather enjoyable climax. A must read for hetero and yuri pairing lovers alike.
    • Comartemis: The biggest issue this troper has with this fic is how quickly Raven opens up to Jinx; considering that this is the same girl who spent four or five seasons desperately trying to suppress her emotions, you'd think it'd take her a little longer to warm up to Jinx's advances, even without Trigon around to scare her away from her relationships. And this says nothing of Jinx herself, who seems to develop her attraction to Raven out of thin air before the story starts. Still, minor OOC complaints aside, it's pretty good.

  • Comments: A relatively intense and slightly depressing piece, it feels all the more hopeless told from Starfire's point of view. It only has two of the planned three chapters up, but for sheer length you have found yourself a diamond. The characterizations are spot on with some maturity for flavor and the Titans East are there for actual plot purposes. It even goes into length about Raven's home world and why she is antisocial and tries to hide her emotions. You have to read it to believe it, summaries and comments don't count for much.

  • Comments: One of the most appealing characterizations of Beast Boy I've ever seen—he isn't played off as moronic like he usually is in fanfics, and is given just that right balance of innocence and red-hot spirit. Although the central relationship focused on is Robin and Beast Boy's, the splashes of how the rest of their team interacts with each of them one on one is a very nice touch. The only way for him to win the bet involves ruining Raven's long-planned, once in a lifetime, very special trip. He has to find a way to reach the end with out losing his life, conscience, or friendship with Raven.
  • Comments: Very well written adventure. Unlike many Beast Boy/Raven fanfics, Beast Boy is not unusually mature and serious, nor is Raven unusually emotional; their behavior is straight out of the show. Long enough to have some great plot intricacy, but not so long as to be a Doorstopper. A must read for any Beast Boy/Raven fan.

  • Synopsis: A rehash of season 4 with an OC who joins the group for protection against Cinderblock.
  • Comments: I'm not going to spoil you by telling you everything about the story. Just know that David Foster is one of the most interesting OC's in the history of fanfiction. His interactions with the Titans are believable and insightful, and the entire fic is filled to the brim, from start, to near-finish, with action, suspense, and a tiny bit of Chris Carter Syndrome and Jigsaw Puzzle Plot that actually works well.
    • Like the above troper so eloquently said, David Foster is one of the most interesting original characters I've come across so far. It messes with the timeline a bit, but it's done amazingly, and you can't say it doesn't work. If you like AUs, give it a read, it's definitely worth it. — JokerTMcDuff

  • Pairings: Starfire/Robin. Minor Cheshire/Speedy and Slade/Adeline.
  • Synopsis: Apprentice AU. Six months later, Robin is still serving under Slade, and is struggling not to give in to Slade's way of thinking. Meanwhile, the Titans (who are aware of the probes and the blackmail) are trying to find a way to save Robin, with help from Batman and the rest of the Justice League. Explores the motives and history behind Slade.
  • Comments: The summary above does not do this fantastically written fanfic justice. Includes supers from all over DC (though you don't have to know much about the JLA and the extended DCU to follow the story) and the author firmly averts the Reset Button and Status Quo Is God at the end. I could feel Robin's will slowly being worn away with each chapter as Slade messed with his head, and the ending... lets just say that it left this troper stunned and awed. It also helps that Jared and Larry Holden were two very likable and believable OC s.
    • Kudos to the author for managing to keep Slade the Magnificent Bastard we all know, whilst simultaneously making him a nuanced, three-dimensional character. One of the best Slade characterizations I have ever seen in a TT fanfic.
    • Now has a complete sequel of sorts, featuring Dick as Batman and Damian as Robin.

  • Comments: Pretty much exactly what the synopsis says — it's exploring a universe in which Jinx and Kid Flash's roles are reversed, but it's a lot more focused on Jinx. There's a lot of worldbuilding, backstory, set up, and a ton of character development, and it's quite addicting once you get into it! Be forewarned: though the chapters are pretty short, there's 87 of them (and don't forget, it's a Dead Fic). It also features a few other characters from the DC Universe.

  • Synopsis: AU. Five teenagers were in detention on the second day of school. It looked like a bad start to their senior year but that was before five Titans set out to change the town. By the end of the year, Forston will be changed, one way or another.
  • Pairings: Beast Boy x Raven (primary), Robin x Starfire (secondary), Cyborg x Jinx (tertiary)
  • Comments: Not your typical high school AU. The author takes the 5 seasons of Teen Titans, emphasizes the above relationships with subtlety, and manages to translate the fantastic occurrences of the show to a realistic environment. The story is even better on the second read-through. Keep an eye out for comic book/actor cameos. Rough language is used sparingly and descriptions of violence are not very gratuitous.
    • Excellent re-imagining of not only the majority of heroes and villains from Teen Titans, but everybody within two or three degrees of connection, including most of the Batman cast, with very good characterization and wonderful story arcs.

But will the bond they begin to form tear down Robin's morals, or will it throw the old saying "Can't teach an old dog new tricks" out on its tail.
  • Comments: Essentially a 'for want of a nail' story where Slade abducts Robin right after "Red X" instead of blackmailing him. I will admit being hesitant to reading it at first, but the story takes the common Apprentice fic and turns it into a pretty good story. Interesting interpretation of Robin, the Boy Wonder and focuses on the Titans as well. Also includes Wintergreen as a major character. Review by Greensword101.

  • Tags: Adventure, humor
  • Comments: An utterly subpar summary for an utterly epic series. Ryouga and the Titans take center stage for this story with Ranma and the crew not coming in until later on, but Lathis keeps Ryouga remarkably in-character with all his flaws and vices intact, something you don't often see in Ryouga-centric fics. The plot initially focuses on Ryouga's initial meeting with the Titans before launching into the main storyline as Brother Blood goes on a recruiting drive in Nerima.
    • Roo: Okay, I have to say that the writing style is clumsy and awkward, and normally I wouldn't have given this fic the time of day... except it gets so many things right. The fic largely manages to capture the tone and feel of the Teen Titans cartoon and makes the Ranma characters and locations blend in completely naturally. The plot is interesting, the characterizations are mostly spot-on, and quite a bit of fun is had with various characters from both fandoms getting to interact with and play off one another. While Ryouga and Raven are listed as the main characters, this is much more an ensemble piece where just about everyone gets their time in the limelight, and a lot of them are used brilliantly (Cologne being my favorite). I will admit that I was skeptical about the prominence of the Amazons in the early part — Ranma fics who heavily feature the Amazon village tend to be rather tedious, especially with all the beauty-care-product names for characters I couldn't care less about — but somehow it just works this time around. Definitely a story worth checking out if you have the time.

Dark Titans by Lathis

  • Recommended by: Comartemis
  • Status: Dormant; last updated March 2021
  • Crossover with: Ranma ½
  • Synopsis: The sequel series to The Titans and the Lost Boy, Dark Titans focuses on the aftermath of the battle with H.I.V.E. as the Nerima Wrecking Crew adjust to the circumstances they find themselves in.
  • Comments: As awesome as its predecessor, Dark Titans progresses in several distinct arcs, each one focusing on a separate group of characters. The Red X arc comes first, giving the Titans the initial spotlight, before the action moves to Nerima, where Ranma has to assemble a team of heroes on his own to deal with Big Trouble in Little Tokyo. Then Cologne and the Amazons match wits with Lex Luthor in This Ain't A Scene before Ryouga unlocks the secret to resurrecting Terra in Titan Rising. And through all of this, Lathis maintains the quirky Slayers-style combo of humor drama and action that makes his stories so fun to read. If you liked The Titans and the Lost Boy, you will like this sequel.

The Nighthawk Chronicles By Cyclone

  • Recommended by HG131
  • Status: Dead
  • Crossover with: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Synopsis Xander gets sucked into the Titansverse, which happens to also de-age him to 16 and give him back his eye. It also combines the DC Animated Universe with Teen Titans and actually addresses the continuity problems that causes.
  • Comments: A Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Teen Titans crossover that is sadly a dead fic. On the bright side, there's 60+ chapters. Funny, actiony and just awesome. Also continues the running gag of Xander having bad luck with who he falls in love in (getting in a Jinx/Raven/Starfire/Talia (yes, Ra's daughter) love pentagon). Also features Xander killing a lot of people.
    • Interesting in characterizations, especially with its subtle comparisons of Raven to Willow, which are small but disturbing when you realize that the reason for Xander's becoming fast friends with her (after working out various issues such as Raven's heritage) isn't just because of her personality, but because he's subconsciously using her to replace Willow.
