The page contains the following tropes:

    open/close all folders

    General
  • Adaptational Badass: All films will have one or two characters to be this.
  • Adaptation Distillation: onex7805 is ensuring all the rewrites are to improve the movie trilogies by removing unnecessary elements that break the flow of the story.
  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • Anakin's story is expanded to show his struggles as a slave on Tatooine.
    • Maul gets a lot more screen-time to show his competence and skills as a Sith during his hunt for the Jedi, and is even featured at the beginning of Episode III.
    • The Death Star, which only had two minor cameos in the films, takes a more central role in Episode II, as the Destroyer of Worlds superweapons being built by the Separatists are prototypes for it.
  • Bad Boss: Palpatine betrays FOUR different minions over the course of the movies. He manipulates Anakin into killing Maul, abandons Greivous to be shot to death by Clones, drains Padme of her life in order to save Anakin and tries to get Luke to kill Vader when he looses.
  • Darker and Edgier: The series is much more graphic and disturbing compared to the original Prequel Trilogy.
  • Decomposite Character:
    • Dooku is written out, with his role in Episode II being filled in by General Grievous instead. Meanwhile, in Episode III, Maul takes his place at the beginning, being the one to fall to Anakin.
    • Padme's role is also split; she is changed into a former Jedi-turned-Republic secret agent and replaces the Queen's bodyguard in Episode I, while the role of the Queen is filled in by Breha Antilles.
  • Evolving Weapon: Kyber crystals in lightsabers can turn red as a result of dark side influence. This is hinted in The Path to Destruction, and put on full display in the rewrites for Revenge of the Sith (where Vader's lightsaber turns permanently red after starting the Temple assault by killing Jocasta Nu) and in The Force Awakens (where Kylo's lightsaber, previously blue, turns red after he gives in to the dark side and kills Han).
  • Fix Fic: REDONE as a whole.
  • Slavery Is a Special Kind of Evil: A common theme throughout the REDONE Prequel Trilogy, all foreshadowing Anakin's transformation to Darth Vader; His enslavement to the Dark Side.

    An Ancient Evil

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/poster_34.png

For over a thousand generations, the JEDI ORDER was the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, but peace can only last so long.

A secessionist movement arose against the twenty-five-millennia GALACTIC REPUBLIC. The Separatists have formed a blockade of deadly battleships around the tranquil planet of Alderaan.

As turmoil engulfs his homeworld, Supreme Chancellor Valorum Organa has secretly dispatched two Jedi Knights to settle the dispute and avert the impending war....

  • Action Prologue: The first few minutes of Episode 1 REDONE begins with the massacre of the Republic and Alderaanian delegates in the palace.
  • Adaptation Distillation:
    • Alderaan takes Naboo's role in the story.
    • The plot to return to Coruscant has been effectively removed. The planet's screen-time has been reduced to a small number of short scenes.
    • The Trade Federation are replaced with the Separatists (see below).
    • The Chosen One prophecy is removed.
    • Master Yoda only appears once in REDONE to make his presence more impactful.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change:
    • Owen Lars is a pilot here rather than a farmer. He's also good friends with Obi-Wan.
    • Speaking of Obi-Wan, REDONE changes him to be a Jedi Knight instead; not a Padawan.
    • Anakin is now an orphan with his mother no longer exists here. He doesn't have Skywalker in his name until much later.
    • Jar Jar, now seen only very briefly, is an infant Gungan who is rescued by the heroes during a Separatist attack.
  • Adaptation Origin Connection: In the REDONE, R2-D2 is an astro droid, built by Anakin who use scraps to replace his lost parts. Ever since then, R2 serves Anakin and helps in the workplace to fix pod racers or anything that came by.
  • Adaptational Badass: REDONE promotes Bail Organa's role from humble senator to a freedom fighter fighting to save his planet. No wonder why his future step-daughter became so kickass.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: The Separatists are already fully formed and active in An Ancient Evil, replacing the Trade Federation as the episode's antagonists.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: To make him even more slimy, Watto is the one, not Sebulba, to sabotage Anakin's podracer.
  • Adaptational Job Change: Owen Lars is changed from a farmer to a pilot.
  • Adaptational Villainy: The Separatists in this REDONE show how vile they are through extensive property damage, public executions, and internment camps for civilians.
  • Adapted Out: C-3PO, Shmi Skywalker and most certainly Jar Jar Binks (in his original form, at least) are no longer present in this version of the movie.
  • Age Lift: This Anakin is not a child but instead, is a teenager.
  • Audience Surrogate: Being relatively new to the Force, Anakin gets taught about what it is along with the history of the Jedi and the Sith.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Nellith and Anakin hides just before Maul can sees them. They think they're clear but cut to the next scene, Maul calls the bounty hunters to converge on the two's location.
  • Bullying the Dragon: Maul refuses to pay the bounty hunters for failing to kill the Jedi. In response, they try to shoot him only for them to get cut down by their client's lightsaber.
  • Call-Forward:
  • Chase Scene: Anakin has to jump rooftop from rooftop to get away from the bounty hunters.
  • Conveniently an Orphan: Anakin has no parents or family in this REDONE. He's just a slave, living in a run-down shed and having to work under a Bad Boss and serving a Jerk Jock. He has to sneak out from his home to steal in order to get by.
  • Defiant to the End: One Governor from Aldeeran stands up to the Separatists rather than cower before them. As brave as it is but it didn't do much when droids shoot her.
  • Demoted to Extra: Jar Jar Binks is now barely a footnote in the story, changed to a Gungan infant who is rescued from a Separatist attack.
  • Die or Fly: Anakin activates his Force powers just when the Trandoshan is about to beat him to death.
  • Dramatic Irony: The first planet to be saved chronologically is Alderaan. Several movies later, it gets destroyed by the Death Star.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: Anakin begins to have a series of vision foretelling of a battle in the future with Nellith involved in it. Unfortunately, this turns out to be the fateful event that resulted in Nellith's death.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: After Nellith calls him 'brainless' for his reckless actions, Anakin lists down all his accomplishments including mechanics. Nellith wasn't interested until it quickly hits her that Anakin knows some parts for the starship.
  • Gender Flip: Combined with Adaptation Name Change and Age Lift, Qui-Gon Jinn is remade into a younger Jedi Master named Nellith Jinn based on Michelle Yeoh's persona.
  • Gunship Rescue: Just as the Nubian starship is about to be destroyed, a Republic Star Destroyer exits out of hyperspace just in time to destroy the Separatist pursuers.
    • Once the Star Destroyer's N-1 starfighters enter the fight, they make short work on the droid army, allowing the Alderaanians and Gungans to advance and take Aldera back.
  • Hostage Situation: The Separatist invades Alderaan specifically because it is the homeworld of Supreme Chancellor Valorum, and threatening the planet will force the Chancellor to comply with their demands.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Cornered, Anakin tries to use the Force to save himself but has to go through several hand gestures. All of them don't work other than confusing the Trandoshan that was after him and making a fool out of himself.
  • Loophole Abuse: The Senate would not approve an intervention on Alderaan. However, Palpatine injects an idea that since the Separatists are not a state, it cannot be considered a war. Valorum allows this and orders the Republic Navy to intervene.
  • Mugging the Monster: Anakin steals Nellith's sack that contains her lightsaber. It's a good thing Nellith's a Jedi otherwise he would be in serious trouble.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Nellith's name came from Luke Skywalker's sister in the early draft of Return of the Jedi.
    • Anakin's pose when wielding Nellith's lightsaber mirrors the original poster for A New Hope.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In the REDONE version, Bail Organa and Chancellor Valorum are brothers.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Anakin unleashes the powers of the Dark Side to kill Darth Maul after he kills Nellith Jinn.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Anakin chooses to return to Alderaan and help Obi-Wan, Padme, and Nellith. Unfortunately, that choice would doom him.
  • Take the Wheel: With Owen knocked out, Anakin has to pilot the Nubian starship.
  • Tempting Fate: Queen Antilles is relieved that there is no danger when they arrived at the escape ship. Seconds later, the ship explodes.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: Two separate storylines occur, one where Obi-Wan, Padme, and Nellith finding a way out of Tatooine and reach Alderaan while at Alderaan, Prince Organa and Queen Antilles are trying to survive from the Separatists.
  • Unrelated in the Adaptation: The concept of Anakin and Owen being step-brothers is removed in REDONE.
  • Vice City: This bit of dialogue after Nellith caught Anakin.
Nellith: Slimey thief! Come over here, I’m turning you over to the authority!
Anakin: Turn me over to the authority? Maybe you’re from a Core system so all this might be new to you, but lady knight, you got a new problem to worry about.
    Nellith: A new problem?
Anakin: The Hutt Clan’s doesn’t like the Republic very much. And I now know who you are. What stops the Hutts from turning you guys over to the Separatists then?
    • He's proven right when the Hutts are hunting for the Jedi's skins.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Nute has a child taken hostage to force one of the citizens to confess the location of Queen Antilles.

    The Path to Destruction

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/episodeiiposter.png

War! The galaxy is falling asunder. Thousands of solar systems are declaring their intentions to leave the Galactic Republic to join the CONFEDERACY OF INDEPENDENT SYSTEMS.

This reorganized Separatist Alliance, now led by mysterious GENERAL GRIEVOUS, mercilessly strikes back the crumbling Republic with the mass-produced Droid Armies.

As the Senate is deadlocked on the critical issue of creating a standing army, Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker awaits for the Trials of Knighthood....

  • Adaptational Badass:
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: General Grievous and the Magnaguards who were part of "Revenge of the Sith" and both Clone Wars series is now adapted into this version of Episode II.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: While still a ruthless general for the Separatists, this Grievous is respectful and surprisingly kind towards the Droid army and Droids as a whole. If you ever disrespect them, be sure Grievous will crush your skull. Plus, he's an honorable warrior, unlike his movie and "The Clone Wars" counterpart, who wants to earn his lightsaber trophies through combat rather than steal them.
  • Adaptation Distillation: Planets like Kamino, Naboo and Tatooine are removed in "The Path to Destruction". The only plot element that is retained are the clone army which has been adapted to be part of the Coruscant plot.
  • Adaptation Expansion: ''The Path to Destruction focuses on key elements that was never touched upon in the second Prequel film.
    • First is Anakin's Jedi training and his relationship with his master and the Order.
    • Secondly is the development of the Death Star.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: Padme in the films is a paragon and a staunch believer in democracy. Padme in REDONE, however, is more of an antiheroine and is more open to authoritarianism if it means maintaining peace and justice in the galaxy.
  • Adaptation Species Change: The Nelvaanians are changed to be amphibious, similar to the Mon Calamari. The author cites the Zora as an influence.
  • Adapted Out: Count Dooku is removed in REDONE.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: Tarkin points out that most of the Separatists are non-humans, setting a seed for the humanocentric Imperial rule.
    • This gets a brief nod in Revenge of the Sith REDONE, where Sidious describes his new Empire as an "Empire of Man," and Grievous realizes alien species would become easy society-wide scapegoats thanks to the Separatists.
  • Arson, Murder, and Lifesaving: When Anakin returns to Obi-Wan, he prepares to be reprimanded by his master for disobeying him. He did but he then praises him for his actions in freeing Nelvaanians and its people much to Anakin's surprise.
  • Artificial Limbs:
    • Anakin uses a Mechno-arm to replace his lost arm.
    • Darth Maul, who was cut in half, now uses metal legs.
  • Badass Boast: Both Mace and Grievous exchanges this to each other.
Mace Windu: One Jedi has to be worth a hundred droids.
General Grievous: How about a million?.
  • Badass in Distress: Around midway into the film, Padme gets captured and is placed into a tank to be mutated like the Nelvaanian prisoners.
  • Beware the Superman: Padme reveals to Anakin that the reason why the Senate are distrustful of the Jedi is because long ago when they had the Army of Light, the Jedi had so much power that they ruled over planets like senators and lords.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Anakin is severely outnumbered by the Magnaguards until Padme arrives to give him some aid.
  • Break Them by Talking: General Grievous does this to Obi-Wan, lying to him about Anakin's death. While Grievous thinks he failed, Obi-Wan shed tears over losing his Padawan.
  • The Chosen One: Anakin. He later becomes the chosen one for the Nelvaanians, Holt Kazed AKA Ghost Hand, a warrior that will come to rescue the Nelvaanians in their greatest of needs.
  • Clones Are People, Too: The Jedi and Bail Organa heavily disapproves of using a clone army since they are living beings that had their freedom taken from them. Grievous brings this up to the Separatists in an effort to demonize the Republic.
  • Cold Sniper: Jango Fett.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Grievous takes on not one, not two but seven Jedi and won.
  • Darker and Edgier: Way more than "Attack of the Clones"; It has some intense imagery and gory scenes, most notably Anakin's hand being burnt to pieces.
  • Death by Adaptation:
    • Supreme Chancellor Valorum, in REDONE, is assassinated by Jango Fett.
    • Rune Haako is killed earlier (by Grievous) than his canon fates in Episode III.
  • Defector from Decadence: Padme was once a member of a Jedi Order but she left the group and became an outcast after being unable to stand their views and ways.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Obi-Wan Force-pushes Grievous off a cliff. It only takes him a second to realize that he's still entangled in Grievous's wires.
    Obi-Wan: Oh, not good.
  • Earth-Shattering Kaboom: The Techno Union tests the capabilities of the Destroyer of Worlds by having it blast one of Nelvaan's moons to kingdom come.
  • Elaborate Underground Base: Ever since "An Ancient Evil", Palpatine had commissioned several cloning hatcheries and had them built beneath Coruscant to create an army to counter the Separatist threat.
  • Elite Mook: The Magnaguards.
  • Endless Winter: Nelvaan suffers intense blizzards for an extended period of time thanks to the Separatists' Volcano Lair.
  • Evil Is Not a Toy: Anakin's time in the Kyber crystal cave shows the actual story of Holt Kazed in which a hero loses his arm during battle but achieves a great power. However, there's an dark ominous side to it. At first, the hero uses his powers to defend the villagers from threats but soon, he can't control it anymore and he became a monster, destroying all those he cares for. This is also Foreshadowing when Anakin will one day becomes Darth Vader.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: In his time on Nelvaan, Anakin slowly forms friendship with Padme. It eventually leads to him falling in love with her in Episode 3 REDONE.
  • Foil: Grievous serves as this to Anakin.
    • Both are powerful and skilled individuals, not only in their lightsaber training but in their creativity in battle as well. They have mechanical parts fused to their bodies and possess great respect for droids with Anakin and R2-D2 and Grievous and the Separatist Droid army.
    • The difference is that Anakin is a member of the Republic and loved by the Senate while Grievous is a member of the Separatists and the Council absolutely hates or fears him. When dealing with anyone who made attempts on their lifes, Anakin doesn't hesitate to kill them in cold blood while Grievous remains honorable by giving his enemies a chance to surrender.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Padme tells about how an authoritarian government that enforces the laws will bring peace to the Galaxy. Seems oddly familiar to a future government with their white-armored lackeys and lead by some dark lords.
    • Anakin's climatic fight takes place in a literal volcano and he loses a limb in the process. Where have we seen that before?
  • Friendly Address Privileges: Anakin allows Padme call him, 'Annie', a nickname given to him by Alana.
  • Grave-Marking Scene: At the Jedi Temple, Obi-Wan always visits the busts of Alana Jinn to show that he deeply misses her.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Anakin goes through a lot of this to the point all Obi-Wan has to step in. Yoda and Windu points out that the reason he can't pass the trials is because of his anger.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: It's clear that the Senate do not trust the Jedi and they distrust them even more when they propose the building of the Army of Light.
  • Ironic Description Cut: While Grievous gives out a speech to the Separatists about their noble goals, it cuts to the scene where Anakin's fighting off the enslaved mutated Nelvaanians that the inner circle of the Separatists made to be weapons of war. There is nothing noble about it.
  • Knighting: The Jedi Council finally decides to knight Anakin, promoting him from Padawan to Jedi Knight rank. Notably, it is the only time in this rewrite that Yoda is seen wielding a lightsaber, though purely for ceremonial purposes.
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: Anakin and Padme decide to split up. Anakin goes to the Mother's Mouth while Padme goes to the volcano.
  • Life-or-Limb Decision: Anakin chooses to sacrifice one of his arms to save Padme's life.
  • Losing Your Head: One Magnaguard loses its head but it keeps on fighting. This headless Magnaguard even returns to Grievous.
  • Mook Horror Show: After believing Padme to have died, Anakin goes on a murderous rampage against the Techno Union scientists.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Anakin was ready to decapitate the Maul illusion, using his own light saber only to find that behind the hood is Alana. He drops to his knees, horrified that he was this close to kill someone he cares for.
    • He has a small one after he yells at Obi-Wan for not being wise like Alana.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: The movie specifically dives into how Anakin feels about the ways of the Jedi Order and if they are going the right path. His interactions with various people who have negative views on the Order serves only to push forward his struggles even more. This all culminates when Anakin is at a crossroad, either helping his master in defeating the Separatists or go out and save Padme. Anakin chooses the latter.
  • Oh, Crap!: Obi-Wan has this after learning how dangerous the Destroyer of Worlds is after it blasts two Star Destroyers to bits.
  • Papa Wolf: To an extreme level, Obi-Wan goes to great lengths to protect Anakin ever since losing Alana and doesn't want it to happen again. He even placed a tracker on Anakin's starfighter to watch over him, with or without the orders of the Council. This gets slightly deconstructed as it hampers his relationship with Anakin.
  • Pet the Dog: General Grievous actually pats R2-D2 after he gives him back Anakin's lightsaber and tells him to return it to the Jedi.
  • Power Crystal: The Kyber cystals are the source of the Jedi's lightsaber and used by the Sith to build Superweapons. The Separatists invade Nelvaan, specifically to mine the crystals and power their new weapons. It's also the reason the Republic hid Nelvaan away from the Jedi.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: After failing the trials, Anakin can't hold back the frustration and resentment he has against the Jedi Order anymore and in the spur of the moment, tells of Obi-Wan for not being as wise as Alana. This shocks the Jedi Master.
  • Redshirt Army: The Republic Judicials that followed Anakin to Nelvaan are taken out systematically by the Magnaguards.
  • Ribcage Ridge: Escorted by the Nelvaanians, Anakin discovers that the cave he was traversing through is actually a skeleton of a giant creature which the Nelvaanians made it into their home. We never get to see a live one but that may be for the best.
  • Rite of Passage: In order to become a Jedi, one must passed the Trials of Skill, Courage, Flesh and Spirit. Anakin passed the former but fails the latter trials much to his dismay.
  • Sapient Steed: One of the mutated Nelvaanaians lets Obi-Wan ride him to battle the Droid army.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Wat Tambor's Technician abandons him and flees into a boat to escape from Grievous's wrath.
  • Shrine to the Fallen: In the Jedi Temple veranda, there are a row of busts of dead Jedi like Alana. More are carved and added ever since the war started.
  • Slave Mooks: The male Nelvaanians that got captured by the Separatists. At first, they are used as labor to mine the Kyber crystals but after that, they are sent one by one to the labs and mutated into monsters to be part of the Separatist army.
  • Slippy-Slidey Ice World: Nelvaan, as a result of the ice age brought on by the Separatist base.
  • ShoutOut:
    • The Path to Destruction can be seen as James Bond in Space and pays a homage to On Her Majesty's Secret Service: a man-on-a-mission premise, a secret espionage mission on which hang the fate of the world, a solo infiltration, a blooming romance with an untrustworthy foreign agent, a supervillain who resides in a fortified lair, a secret weapon that might doom the world, and the good guys special forces battling against the bad guys in the climactic battle, snowy environments, the action set pieces, the intimate connection between the hero and the heroine, and the plot of the hero going into the villain’s lair to investigate.
    • The Rambo series also serves as a major inspiration. Rambo’s survivalist motifs, saving the village as a warrior, and rescuing the prisoners to fight the villains play into the story.
    • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater: Anakin's mission, the relationship between Anakin and Padmé, the villain, and the depiction of the secret weapon
    • Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom: The action set pieces, mystical elements, the mine, and freeing slaves)
    • Lupin the Third: Castle of Cagliostro: Anakin’s journey, him getting injured to unconsciousness then rescued, the villain lair
    • Apocalypse Now: Anakin going through his own dark journey into the hostile environment, Grievous's character
    • The Terminator: The growing romance between Anakin and Padmé as they get chased by droid
    • Overlord: Infiltrating the enemy fortress, hiding from the chasers, and the biological experiment
    • Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation: Underwater set pieces, the assassination scene, and Padmé's character
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Most of the Separatists hate Nute Gunray's guts.
  • Underwater Base: The Machine House where Kyber crystal-powered weapons are tested.
  • Vision Quest:
    • Anakin's trials. He enters a room and finds himself confronting an illusion of Darth Maul and later, Alana.
    • After reaching to a cave that leads to the Separatist base, he receives hallucinations of the Nelvaanian legend of the 'Ghost Hand'.
  • Volcano Lair: The Separatist base. It's a droid factory and responsible for the endless winter the Nelvaanians had to endure.
  • Weapon of Mass Destruction: The Destroyer of Worlds, AKA the Walker or as we, fans like to call it, the Death Star's predecessor.
  • Wham Shot: Darth Maul is back and with some brand new legs.
  • What You Are in the Dark: After being goaded by Grievous to strike him down to avenge Anakin, Obi-Wan picks up the lightsaber, seemingly wanting to do it until he finally decides to drop it, refusing to go down into the Dark Side. After the disappointed general leaves him alone, Obi-Wan sheds a tear for Anakin.
  • You Are Not Ready: Most of the Jedi Council, particularly Yoda and Mace are highly reluctant to send Anakin to go to Nelvaan on his own, especially after his failure in the trials.
  • You Have Failed Me: Rune Haako is outright murdered by Grievous for failing to perfect The Walker.

    The Clone Wars
  • A Day in the Limelight: Characters including Quinlan Vos, Aayla Secura, Bail Organa and even General Grievous of all people get their own episodes/arcs.
  • Adaptational Late Appearance: Ahsoka makes her introduction in Season 2 rather than Season 1.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: The first episode surprisingly enough. The Separatists force the Republic to retreat and they takeover the Excarga System.
  • You Have Failed Me: Sidious orders Grievous to execute Ventress for failure but Grievous chooses otherwise and spares Ventress, taking her as his apprentice.

    Revenge Of The Sith

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/p1p01.png

The CLONE WARS rage across the galaxy like wildfire. A thousand generations is coming to a close. Though this is the end of an era, it has saved its best for last.

In a stunning move, the fiendish droid leader, General Grievous, has swept into the Republic capital and kidnapped CHANCELLOR PALPATINE, leader of the Galactic Senate.

As the Separatist Droid Army attempts to flee the besieged capital with their valuable hostage, two Jedi Knights lead a desperate mission to rescue the captive Chancellor....

  • Adaptation Distillation: REDONE Revenge of the Sith has removed Utapau (aside from a brief cameo during Order 66) and much of Coruscant but their plots are added alongside Kashyyyk's.
  • Adaptation Expansion: REDONE focuses on the Battle of Kashyyyk allowing much of the environment or landscape be explored and have a glimpse on Wookie culture.
  • Adaptation Personality Change:
    • Anakin still kills Mace, but unlike his movie counterpart, he did it without any remorse or hesitation which is justified since he found his wife on the floor, wounded by the Jedi master.
    • Obi-Wan refuses to believe Anakin has turned evil until only the latter shows to him far gone he is, in contrast to movie Obi-Wan's determination to kill his student.
  • Adaptational Badass: Both Yoda and (in keeping with what his dialogue in Return of the Jedi, referring to the lightsaber as "a Jedi's weapon," implies) Palpatine solely use the Force as their weapon.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Chewbacca's son Lumpawaroo accompanies him during the short hunting scene, and his wife Mallatobuck and father Attichitcuk are among the Wookiee resistance helping fight the Separatists.
    • Mon Mothma is present for Palpatine's New Era Speech, essentially taking Padme's place in the movie alongside Bail during said scene. Befitting her role as the Rebel Alliance's future leader, she stops Bail from openly speaking out against Palpatine here, telling him there will come a time where they can rebel against him in earnest.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Downplayed in Anakin's case. He is personally responsible for many deaths in the Jedi Temple, but the younglings are not among them (the clones kill them instead).
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Unlike Dooku and Grievous' canon counterpart, Grievous in REDONE correctly guesses that Darth Sidious intends to betray him, and makes plans to escape Kashyyyk knowing this.
  • Adaptational Ugliness: The droid army, particularly the B1 battle droids, sport a grittier look after years of fighting left their skins dirtied and rusted. They also now possess a more robotic voice for intimidation factor.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Like in the novelization, Appo and his men try to kill Bail when he witnesses the Jedi Temple assault.
  • Badass Army: The Arc Troopers are Super Soldiers for the Republic. One is tough, a squad is nuts but a whole army is overkill. Sadly, General Grievous is way above their weight class.
  • Bad Boss: True to canon, Palpatine sells out Maul and Grievous (and the Separatists as a whole).
  • Black Eyes of Evil: Occurs when Palpatine's darkness controls one of his Jedi attackers, most apparent in the close-up on a possessed Kit Fisto.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: Especially compared to the other REDONE entries; blood, viscera, and (usually when Grievous is around) dismemberment are often mentioned/described. One badly injured Wookiee at the field hospital on Kashyyyk is described as having his face split open from blaster fire but still conscious.
  • Boarding Party: While Oddball's forces distract the fighters, the Arc Troopers do an EVA onto the Invisible Hand to rescue the Chancellor.
  • Call-Forward: It seems Chewie's idea of hijacking the AT-ST was from past experience when his fellow Wookies took over a Separatist tank and some clone walkers.
  • The Cameo:
    • C-3PO appears at the end of the movie to greet R2-D2.
    • Chewbacca appears very briefly during the start of the invasion of Kashyyyk, with his father Attichitcuk taking up his movie role.
  • Casting a Shadow: In addition to his signature Force Lightning, Palpatine manipulates darkness to attack, create illusions, and apparently possess his foes.
  • Convenient Coma: Padme goes into an endless sleep after being drained too much of her life force.
  • The Coup: Sidious tells Grievous that during the Battle of Kashyyyk, Anakin (now in charge of the Republic army) will pull his forces out mid-invasion and return to Coruscant for a coup against the Senate. This is just a ruse, one that Grievous sees right through.
  • Death by Adaptation:
    • Shaak Ti is revealed to have been killed by Grievous just before the film's events, in contrast to both canon and Legends.
    • Coleman Kcaj, whose fate is ambiguous in both canon and Legends, is killed on Utapau during Order 66 (itself a repurposed deleted scene, originally involving Barriss Offee on Felucia).
    • Fordo is killed by Grievous on the Invisible Hand.
    • Technically Anakin, albeit briefly. His injuries from Mustafar are so severe he flatlines on the operating table just as the helmet is fixed onto his suit, and he is brought back by Palpatine through the dark side ritual that leaves Padme comatose.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: Even Grievous can't defend himself and withstand against thousands of laser bolts. This leads to his death.
  • Demonic Possession: When Mace's party is trapped in Palpatine's darkness, Saesee Tiin, Luminara Unduli, and Kit Fisto are all unpleasantly possessed by the dark side.
  • Demoted to Extra: Utapau is relegated to a brief cameo during Order 66, where Coleman Kcaj is killed (see above).
  • Dying Declaration of Hate: Grievous dies content that if nothing else, he was able to bring about "a future with no Jedi", and says as much to Obi-Wan's face.
  • Empathic Environment: Day turns to night as the Battle of Kashyyyk rages on, mirroring the twilight of the Republic (culminating in Order 66 issuing during nighttime).
    • Simultaneously, and on a similar note, the sun sets just before Palpatine tells Anakin the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis; his office grows darker during this scene, and darker still when Mace confronts him (see above).
  • Et Tu, Brute?:
    • Using his newfound authority, Anakin orders the Jedi Council to let him lead the campaign. Obviously, the council is shocked and angered at this.
    • Grievous gets one when Sidious betrays him.
  • Good Angel, Bad Angel: Obi-Wan and Palpatine between the symbolical versions of the Angel and Devil, both trying to sway Anakin when he finally has Maul at his mercy. Obi-Wan begs Anakin to spare Maul's life while Palpatine wants him to kill the Zabrak.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: To complete his transformation to the Dark Side, Anakin uses Maul's Scimitar when he travels to Mustafar and kills the Separatist Council.
  • "I Know You Are in There Somewhere" Fight: Obi-Wan begs his former apprentice to return to the Light but this fails as Anakin is fully intent on ruling the Galaxy.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Although Obi-Wan awakes on time before Anakin could deliver the finishing blow on Maul, including snatching his lightsaber away, it ultimately does nothing and Anakin goes through with it via Force Choke.
  • Killed Offscreen: Shaak Ti (see above), evidenced when Obi-Wan notices her lightsaber as a new addition to Grievous' collection.
  • Light Is Good: Yoda summons light out of his hand to illuminate the darkness Sidious conjures.
  • Mythology Gag: One of Sidious' lines during his fight with Mace begins with "Long have I waited..." with [1] specifically cited in the script as a reference.
  • Off with His Head!: How Fordo (by Grievous) and a Palpatine-possessed Kit Fisto (by Mace) are killed.
  • Offscreen Romance: It's revealed that Bail Organa and Queen Breha Antilles have married at some point after An Ancient Evil.
  • Out-of-Genre Experience: Neither Anakin's nightmare (now expanded with bloodier imagery) nor Palpatine's dark side trap for Mace Windu and co. (the script cites Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum as a reference point for Kit Fisto's possession) would be out of place in a horror movie.
  • People Puppets: Under Palpatine's possession, Saesee Tiin kills Agen Kolar, Luminara Unduli stabs herself with her saber, and Kit Fisto is reduced to chanting the Sith Code in the ancient Sith language.
  • Properly Paranoid: Grievous realizes that Sidious is setting him up and attempts to flee Kashyyyk, but is thwarted by Obi-Wan. His fears are confirmed when he contacts Sidious for help...only to be dismissed as a pawn just as he is surrounded by the clones.
  • Scenery Gorn: Compared to the movie, Coruscant is in a decidedly worse state of affairs after the opening battle, especially the Underworld. Fires are still burning well into the night after the battle, emergency speeders are frequently seen in the background, and refugees are everywhere. Most prominently, a Star Destroyer is shown having crashed next to the Jedi Temple, leaving a massive gash in the surrounding landscape.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Downplayed with Padme. She survives childbirth only to be left in a permanent coma after Palpatine tears the Living Force away from her body to revive Vader. While she doesn't explicitly die by the end of the film, she is left in a permanent coma.
  • Step into the Blinding Fight: Palpatine engulfs his entire office on the dreadnought into darkness to kill off the Jedi one by one. He attempts the same later with Yoda in the Senate.
  • Vehicular Turnabout: A group of Wookies commandeer an NR-N99 and uses it to mow down the others. They do the same with some clone AT-RTs after Order 66 is issued.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Grievous is surrounded by Obi-Wan and the clone army on Kashyyyk, moments after Sidious has revealed he (along with the rest of the Separatists) was always just a pawn in his grand scheme. His response? Descend into maniacal laughter and take as many clones with him as he can.
  • We Can Rule Together: Anakin offers Obi-Wan to join him in ruling the Galaxy, but Obi-Wan refuses.
  • What Have I Become?: There is a moment during the Temple assault where Anakin sees his reflection in the bust of Alana Jinn, his dark side-influenced yellow eyes shown to the audience.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Yoda, Bail, and Obi-Wan call out Mace's rash decision to forcibly remove Palpatine from office. If he did carry out that action, it would only paint the Jedi in an even worse light in the eyes of not only the Senate but the public as well.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Mace takes down Padme but in doing so, he cements Anakin's Face–Heel Turn for good.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: In addition to the Separatist Council as in canon, Darth Sidious sells out Maul (ordering Anakin to kill him in a move to goad him along the Dark Side) and Grievous (leaving him to be gunned down by the Republic forces).
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: The secret to Darth Plageuis' ability to cheat death is siphoning the life force of living beings and transferring it to oneself or another.

    Return of the Jedi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/p1p01_0.png

The Rebellion is doomed. The GALACTIC EMPIRE has secretly begun construction on a new armored space station even more powerful than the first dreaded Death Star.

As the first step toward the final battle to restore freedom to the galaxy, the REBEL ALLIANCE must locate this ultimate weapon before it is completed.

Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker has returned to his home planet of Tatooine in an attempt to rescue his friend Han Solo from the clutches of the vile gangster Jabba the Hutt....

  • Action Prologue: The film immediately shows Luke and the other heroes mounting a full-on assault on Jabba's forces at Tatooine.
  • Adaptation Distillation: The Tatooine plot is effectively removed. Instead, it is reintegrated as part of the Kashyyyk plot.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Return of the Jedi focuses on certain elements that were either never fleshed out or never made it into the actual movie.
    • Luke's training prior to his next confrontation against Vader is fleshed out more.
    • Leia and Chewie's skills as military leaders are more prominently on display.
    • REDONE Return of the Jedi concentrates a bit on the rivalry between Han Solo and Boba Fett.
    • REDONE brings back the canceled plot of Kashyyyk and the Wookiees which was replaced for the Endor and the Ewoks in the finished product.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Tarfful, having previously first appeared in Revenge of the Sith, is among the Wookiee resistance in this rewrite.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: To make Jabba even more scummy, he willingly aligns with the Empire to enslave the Wookies and protect their Death Star.
  • Book Ends:
    • Kashyyyk was the beginning of the fall of the Jedi Order and the rise of the Empire. Now, that same planet is where the Jedi's ultimate victory over the Sith happens.
    • Han's story finishes with how he first appeared; having a Mexican Standoff.
  • Forgiven, but Not Forgotten: In ''Return of the Jedi" REDONE, Leia and Chewie made it clear to Lando that they haven't totally forgiven him for betraying Han. Luke, on the other hand, gives Lando a lot more chances compared to the others.
  • Friend-or-Idol Decision: Leia is at a crossroad, either save Luke from the Stormtroopers or proceed to blow up the Imperial Shield Generator. She reluctantly chooses to the latter after some convincing by the Jedi.
  • He's Back!: Once he gets his signature black vest, we all knew Han Solo has returned.
  • Hopeless War: By the time the Rebels arrived, much of the Wookiees' forces have lost hope that their planet can ever be freed. Thankfully, Chewbacca convinces them otherwise.
  • Humiliation Conga: After getting placed into carbonite, Boba's frozen body is used by the Wookies as their drums.
  • It's Personal: Chewbacca has a very big grudge against the Empire for enslaving his kind and his planet and responsible for the deaths of his family.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty / Laser-Guided Karma: Boba gets frozen into carbonite much like Han endured in The Empire Strikes Back.
  • Near-Villain Victory: The Death Star is moments away from firing on Kashyyyk when it is destroyed.
  • Rousing Speech: Chewbacca steps up in rallying his people in mounting an assault in stopping the Empire from completing the Death Star.
  • Slave Liberation: R2-D2 releases the enslaved Wookies to join in on the battle for Kashyyyk and get their revenge on Jabba.
  • Taking You with Me: The Emperor orders the Death Star to target Kashyyyk if the shield generator is destroyed.
  • Uncertain Doom: The fate of Chewbacca's missing family is ambiguous but not very hopeful; they went missing around the time the Empire started experimenting with the idea of harvesting Wookiees as a source of meat. There is no explicit indication they are still alive.
  • Undercover Model: Instead of being captured and forced into wearing it, Leia takes her iconic slave outfit to disguise herself and get past Jabba.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: By the time of Return of the Jedi REDONE, Jabba has reinvented himself from an infamous gangster to a patriotic businessman working for the Empire. He provides slave workforces for the Imperial war machine and generally does a lot of their dirty work.
  • Your Princess Is in Another Castle!: Luke and the rebels tracked their missing friend, Han Solo at Tatooine leading up to a battle against Jabba and his men. Once the battle is over, they then find out that not only Jabba isn't there, so is Han.

    The Force Awakens

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/p1p01_2.png

The New Republic struggles to keep the peace in the galaxy. Within the chaotic power vacuum spread across the Outer Rim Territories, the sinister FIRST ORDER has risen from the ashes of the Empire.

Supreme Commander Leia Organa leads the brave NEW REPUBLIC DEFENSE FORCE. She is desperate to find her vanished brother Luke and gain his help in the ensuing war against the resurging tyranny.

Leia has sent her most daring pilot on a secret mission to a lonely world of Jakku, where Luke’s old student holds a clue to his master’s whereabouts....

  • Adapted Out: General Hux is removed from this retelling and is replaced with Rae Sloane from Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy.
  • Adaptation Deviation:
    • Han and Chewie still possess the Millenium Falcon.
    • Maz Kanata's Castle is now Han Solo's Castle meaning that Luke's lightsaber is under Solo's possession.
    • Poe commandeers the Millenium Falcon and leads his squadron against the First Order at Han's Castle.
  • Adaptation Distillation: The plot about Poe's disappearance is effectively shortened, having been saved by Han and Chewbacca and spent a significant portion of the REDONE comatose inside the Millenium Falcon.
  • Adaptation Expansion: The REDONE adds a bit more focus on the aftermath of Finn's defection from the First Order and how it affects him.
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: Maz Kanata looks more like Master Yoda but in REDONE is given a height change and looking more humanoid-like.
  • Adaptational Badass: The New Republic are depicted as this, being the greater power compared to the First Order.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Lor San Tekka is changed from a worshipper of the Force to the Jedi Master Streen from the Jedi Academy Trilogy.
  • Adaptational Context Change: The dialogue between Han and Leia regarding their son has been reversed, showing that Han as a firm believer of the Force and believes his son can return to the Light while Leia is now portrayed as a cynic who hasn't forgiven her father for the death and destruction he caused.
  • Adaptational Ugliness: Tor Valum does not resembles Snoke's human-like appearance but more akin or to an Eldritch Abomination.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Intentionally done on Rey by onex7805. Rey is only good on two things; repairing and using the Force.
  • Adapted Out: The Guavian Death Gang and Kanjiklub are no longer part of the film, being replaced by the First Order who confront Han and Chewie.
    • The Rathars are also removed, only being referenced by Han in order to scare the First Order.
  • All Your Base Are Belong to Us: The Supremacy projects a planet-wide shield all over D'Qar to prevent the Republic forces from escaping.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Han and Chewie comes in to save Rey, Finn and BB-8 from the Stormtroopers.
  • Cool Starship: The New Republic's Unity, a huge Starhawk starship with a super-powerful Tractor Beam that prevents Star Destroyer from escaping.
  • Human Shield: Kylo Ren uses Streen to take shots sent by Poe.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Having being captured, Phasma remains defiant and boasts that her armor can withstand Wookies. Chewbacca, a Wookie, then replies by crushing her till she squeals.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The idea of the Original Trilogy being seen as movies is based on Lucas's idea that the entire Star Wars saga are just stories being read.
    • Lor San Tekka is redesigned into the Sequel Trilogy version of Streen, one of Luke's Jedi students from the Legends era Jedi Academy Trilogy.
  • Obstructive Bureaucrat: The New Republic senate refuses to help Leia in taking down the First Order who they considered as nothing more than "terrorists".
  • Show Within a Show: In a meta example, Rey plays a holodisc into BB-8, revealing a "Star Wars" Holo-film. Word of God confirms that she has copies of the original trilogy.
  • Villainous Underdog: The First Order is a smaller faction in the Outer Rim with the New Republic being the dominant force. Although that doesn't lasts long.

    The Last Jedi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/p1p01_70.png

The FIRST ORDER reigns the Outer Rim. Having decimated the D’Qar headquarters, Supreme Leader Rae Sloane now deploys her merciless legions to conquer the stars.

To counter the advancing threat, Supreme Commander Leia Organa must reunite the scattered NEW REPUBLIC forces, certain that Jedi Master Luke Skywalker will return and restore a spark of hope to the fight.

But her band of Republic fighters has been exposed. As the dreaded First Order fleet speeds toward the rendezvous skyhook, the fate of the galaxy rests on their escape....

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Poe has a student-mentor relationship with Han Solo.
  • Adapted Out: Rose Tico and Admiral Holdo are removed from the story.
  • Broken Pedestal:
    • Luke and later, Rey are horrified that the founder of the Jedi Order is also the founder of the Sith and he's Tor Valum.
    • Subverted. While Kylo Ren sees his uncle with a lightsaber over his head, he didn't know that Tor Valum tried to manipulate the Jedi into doing it.
    • Rey loses the awe and admiration for Luke when she learns that it was he that left her at Jakku.
  • Forgiven, but Not Forgotten: Deconstructed. Poe doesn't let go of the fact that Finn tried to abandon the Republic even though Finn already said before that he's not here for their cause. It's because of it that he doesn't respect Finn as a commander.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard: The First Order's decision to broadcast their alleged victory over the galaxy backfires on them when Luke appears to defend the Republic. Instead of being a First Order victory, it's now a rallying call for all Republic sympathizers throughout the Outer Rim.
  • Karmic Death: Earnst Krelman gets killed by the person he betrayed.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Finn calls out on Phasma's cowardice, reminding her that she had a hand in deactivating the shield out of preserving her own life.
  • Spared by the Adaptation:
    • Admiral Ackbar survives Kylo Ren's attack only to die later in the REDONE via sacrificing himself in taking down the First Order fleet.
    • Luke Skywalker survives, unlike his movie counterpart.
  • Sudden Sequel Heel Syndrome: Krelman turned from a Jedi to a loyal agent to the First Order.
  • What You Are in the Dark: Captain Phasma offers Finn an ultimatum; betray the Republic and be regarded as a hero of the First Order. However, Finn takes one look at the Republic insignia on the jacket and decides to stand by with them.
  • You Have Failed Me: Supreme Leader Sloane has Dann executed for failing to bring down the Republic forces.

    A New Order
  • Heel–Face Turn: RK-514(Rafe) and a number of Stormtroopers joins with the Jedi and the New Republic against the Ren Eternal.
  • Seppuku: Kylo Ren drives his lightsaber into himself, choosing not to return to the light like his grandfather had done.
