An RPG Maker MV game by Wax, in Development Hell.
In a lab hidden in the Topland Harbor, Sidney is created by Austin. On instinct, she goes out and picks fights. She saves Cassidy, CEO of Topland's biggest MegaCorp, from the grasp of the Church of Light, and dedicates herself to fighting them more.

Tropes associated with the game:

  • Boss Bonanza: Kevin's Elite Four force one on you at the end of the game.
  • Broken Bridge: Clear pillars, until you do get Clear.
  • The Cameo: A lot. Some are from MV's package characters, some are from Wax's other games that didn't make it past development.
  • Cerebus Callback: Unlike most characters from Max's Recollection, Athor doesn't make a cameo. Instead, his tombstone is seen at the Foreigners' Castle Throne Room.
  • Continuity Nod: To Max's Recollection. The Church of Light is Kevin's new (and last) attempt to grab at godhood after getting his ass kicked in Max's Recollection.
    • Creator Cameo: Description-only, as Max is only talked about in passing mentions.
  • Critical Hit: They don't only deal double damage, but tack on extra defense-ignoring damage based on the Luck stat.
  • Darker and Edgier: The main characters, by comparison to Max's Recollection and the Spin-Off The W-Team in Patina Castle. Sidney is a Super-Soldier who is borderline Made of Evil and Austin is a hostile youth bent on revenge.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: The main characters all get called evil, but aren't quite as evil as branded.
  • Easing into the Adventure: The roadblocks in the Topland Harbor shoehorn you into a fixed path that leads from fighting Rock to leaving the Harbor, including saving Cassidy and learning your first Map Skill courtesy of Eisele.
  • Exponential Potential: Defied: Each character has eight skills, plus passives.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: Sidney and Austin are fighters, Edna and Uriah are mages, and Cassidy and Lex, despite being gun users, have mechanics reminiscent of thieves. Lucion fills the role of a healer, Marie, much less so.
  • Insurmountable Waist-High Fence: Averted with Clear pillars, as they're over Jump height.
    • Enforced however for the side of the mall building, where you can't jump over a barrier that isn't even waist-high, for the sake of averting Trespassing Hero.
  • Infinity +1 Sword: Every character have one, and all must be obtained in pretty painful ways, especially the T.O.P. Landowner Mk.III, which requires you to fund research towards it.
  • Item Crafting: The Map Skill Synthesis.
  • Last Disc Magic: The Ultimate passives, and everyone's last natural skill.
  • Leitmotif: The main characters have a specific theme music by pairs. Some other characters have specific battle themes too, such as some bonus bosses.
  • Light Is Not Good: The Church of Light, since they're a cult devoted to Kevin.
  • Linear Warriors, Quadratic Wizards: Averted: they all share the same number of skills, and the stat scaling favors Cassidy and Lex, none of them warriors or wizards.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: One of Uriah's spells is mentioned to create an electric link between the target's brain and that of the rest of their team. Noone dies as a result of this skill which would normally fry the targets' brains.
  • Magikarp Power: Cassidy. She starts out weak, but by end-game she becomes extremely fast and damaging.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": Rock causes one on the Church of Light when he appears to blindside and kill Kevin. It forces Rawpower to cameo and regroup the Church of Light's remaining forces.
  • The Maze: Lost Forest is a small one, and the only one in the game.
  • MegaCorp: T.O.P. It's not known what the letters stand for.
  • NPC Roadblock: Used to force boss fights, notably the first encounter with the Church of Light and Cassidy's rescue. Since you can't Jump over them, they are used more frequently than other roadblocks, especially after you can Clear pillars of light.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Inverted by the end bosses, none other than Fae, Vanessa and Kevin from Max's Recollection.
  • Nominal Importance: Double-subverted with King and Queen: King and Queen are actually their names.
  • Outside-Context Problem: The Church of Light comes from another world, which causes Edna, Lucion and Uriah to be this by proxy.
  • Party in My Pocket
  • Pocket Dimension: The four Star Chambers.
  • Point of No Return: Not implemented yet, but Judgement Tower becomes this, as the door closes after you enter.
  • RPGs Equal Combat: Justified as Sidney can't help but pick fights where she sees them, and additionally where she doesn't.
  • Rescue Arc: You rescue most of your party members.
    • Sidney and Austin rescue Cassidy from the Church of Light.
    • They also help Edna escape the Church of Light's hideout in the Party District.
    • Lucion is the only one to avert this, as he turns coat on his Mooks when they betray him for using a Badass Boast.
    • Lex is rescued from captivity in Old Topland.
    • Uriah is unsealed from inside Goldburgh Mansion.
  • Skill Slot System: The passives granted by the Support Map Skill.
  • Slippy-Slidey Ice World: Averted. The only sliding section is at Judgement Road, the penultimate dungeon.
  • Sorting Algorithm of Evil: Inverted: The earliest villain to appear is Rock, who is also Dragon Ascendant to Kennedy and second-to-last major villain. The second enemies are the Church of Light, directed by Kevin.
  • Thriving Ghost Town: The towns are much smaller than they should be.
  • Took a Shortcut: Rock and the Church of Light usually show up this way, except they're the ones setting up the obstacles.
  • Trespassing Hero: Defied to the point that the back door of the Shop at Topland's shopping district cannot be accessed and even the otherwise clear and easily accessible (by Jump) space is classified as unwalkable terrain.
  • The Very Definitely Final Dungeon: Judgement Tower, mostly identified by its name and how hidden it is.
  • Video Game Geography: You don't get enough leeway to actually skirt the edges of the map, even though it is true.
  • Warp Whistle: The Teleport Map Skill can teleport you in a set of locations.

Characters:

    Sidney
The main character. A robot created by Austin to enact his revenge.

Tropes associated with Sidney:

    Austin
A young boy who was locked in a lab.

Tropes associated with Austin:

    Cassidy
President of T.O.P., the local MegaCorp. She was kidnapped and replaced at the helm of her own group, and she is going to take it all back.

Tropes associated with Cassidy:

  • Arbitrary Gun Power: Cassidy is likely not to kill in one shot despite wielding guns, and occasionally shotguns.
  • The Gadfly: She even thinks of herself as a Bad Boss for rubbing everyone the wrong way.
  • Mechanically Unusual Class: She has no Mana or Fury to use. Due to her weaponry, though, she uses Bullets as her resource. When using Shotguns, she has to get Shotgun Shells instead.
    Edna
A Church reject who was banned because puberty hit.

Tropes associated with Edna:

    Lucion
A Church of Light angel you meet as an apparent enemy. However, his squad turns on him after he does a Badass Boast, causing him to join the team.

Tropes associated with Lucion:

  • Healer Signs On Early: Averted: he joins late by comparison, being the fifth character in the party.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He is introduced as a Church of Light member. He gets excommuniated for his Pride and promptly joins your party.
  • White Mage: He's mostly a healer and protector, and the primary source of status-cleansing.
    Lex
One of Cassidy's business partners, and the one who revitalized Old Topland.

Tropes associated with Lex:

    Uriah
A demon who is rescued by the team from a seal

Tropes associated with Uriah:

  • Black Mage: Uriah, stereotypically so. His gimmick is tuning, that can increase elemental damage even further.
  • Large Ham: Uriah enjoys a good laugh while going loose.
  • Playing with Fire: His primary spell is Fire.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Uriah is branded as this by the Church of Light. You unseal him and find out that he's not exactly what he's said to be.
  • Shock and Awe: His secondary element is Lightning.
    Marie
The antagonist from Max's Recollection, now showing up as an ally against the Church of Light.

Tropes associated with Marie:

  • Armor and Magic Don't Mix: The exception: she can use heavy armor and use the high-tier magic True Judgement and Super Nova.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Completed when she appears in this game.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: While she isn't The Hero, it applies to her alignment. As a villainess, she fought with a spear technique, but she turned face now and uses sword skills she mimicked.
  • Hypercompetent Sidekick: As the 8th member of the party, she has a side-seat, but is far more competent and knowledgeable than the rest.
  • Mega Manning: It's mentioned that she learned her ultimate skills from watching Max, referencing Max's Recollection.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: Marie has this going on, remembering the events of Max's Recollection and a would-be sequel. She retains her Mega Manning of his skills, and her 4 ultimate skills are mentioned to be learned from him. The "thousands of years" since Uriah's imprisonment were nothing to her.
  • Spin to Deflect Stuff: Fallen Storm Dance is portrayed as such with its tornado icon and guaranteed dodge on all physical attacks it grants her.
    Rock and Kennedy

Rock

  • Jerkass: He's a major asshole to Austin and bullies everyone around.
  • The Rival: To Austin.

Kennedy

    The Church of Light

Sunray

  • Early-Bird Cameo: His appearance in the game counts as this, since you're not seeing him again until Judgement Tower.
  • Flunky Boss: Sunray subverts it. He just sends out his two minions to do the fighting for him, and leaves when they lose.

Dharma

  • Catchphrase: "I'm so nice."
  • Deus ex Machina: Made one to create Goldburgh Mansion, which somehow doesn't come up in Kennedy's archives (according to Austin) despite supposedly being there since over 5000 years.
  • Failed a Spot Check: She fails to recognize when she is using her disguise.
  • Recurring Boss: She is seen far more often than Nathea, Sunray and Rawpower.

Nathea

Fae

Vanessa

Kevin

    New Topland Kingdom

Jack

Knave

  • It's All About Me: She's set off by insults to herself only, only respects those stronger than herself, and plots for her own gain. She even betrays King and Queen in T.O.P. when she sees that the Church of Light and Kennedy are just as capable.

Queen

King

Yaichi

  • Flash Step: Dashes out extremely fast after teaching you Clear.

Gustaf

Dilara

Aldo

  • Troll: Looks like one at his first line, when he's saying the team doesn't look like they're doing too well. He drops the act quickly though.

  • Warp Whistle: She demonstrates Teleport by using it right before your eyes after teaching you.
