Main Character

    Amu

A teenager who also aspiring comic artist.
  • Big Eater: Amu loves to eat many foods and sometimes she can eat them at a single gulp like Kirby.
  • Book Dumb: While not completely dumb, Amu is definitely not good at math to the point where Mr. Eko wants her to take extra classes to improve her results.
  • Color Motif: Always associated with red. She has red maroon hair, red eyes and often seen with red hoodie jacket.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Amu's parents have been divorced since she was young due to her father being way too focused on his career as an artist, which resulted in her mother despising artists and wanting Amu to focus on becoming a doctor instead. Also, during Junior High School, Amu was beaten and almost raped by a stalker before being saved by Sho.
  • Heavy Sleeper: Whenever Amu sleeps, she is difficult for her older sister to wake up, to the point that in some chapters, during a holiday, Amu can spend 12 hours for sleeping, much to her sister's frustration.
    Amu's sister : "WAKE UP! When will you open your eyes ?! Oh My God ! Is this kid sleep or try dead simulation ?! "
  • Iconic Item: On school she always use her skull pin on her left-side at her hijab.
  • Iconic Outfit: She usually wear her hijab when she outside house and a red jacket when she on the school.
  • Lethal Chef: Amu is very awful at cooking and baking. Her food is terrible to the point where she makes one of the students faint, and even Sho prevents Toro from eating her food because if he eats it he will "move to another dimension".
  • Love Hurts : Amu actually tries to like and accept Kiki despite his behavior. Upon learning that he always stalked her, she is disappointed in him. When Kiki promises that he will never stalk her again, Amu makes a clear statement that she will beat him up if he bothers her again.
  • I Am Not My Father: After learning the reason for her parents' divorce and her father focusing more on his job as an artist than his own family, Amu becomes determined that although she will keep trying to become an artist she will never leave her family for the sake of making her dream come true.
  • The Napoleon: Amu is 143cm, the shortest students in her school, and is often mistaken for an elementary school student. However, her size doesn't keep her from being very aggressive when she wants to be, such as how she threatens Kiki to not be too clingy with her.
  • Psycho Knife Nut: Subverted. Sometimes Amu is shown holding a knife, but it's only to threaten Kiki to stay in line if he's too clingy to her. Amu, however, is not a Yandere or an Ax-Crazy girl.
  • Red Is Violent: Amu associated with the color red. She has red eyes, reddish-brown hair and always wears a red jacket. While normally Hot-Blooded, when Amu's paranoia triggers her, she becomes wary and always uses a knife to threaten anyone who she believe is trying to harm her.
  • Second Love: Amu is this for Kiki. According to Toro from chapter 79, Kiki is ever dating someone but always changes girlfriends. Then when he meets Amu, he decides to stop changing girlfriends and try hard to confess his love to her.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Amu believes Kiki is a Nice Guy who understands her feelings. Upon finding out that he always stalked her, she is disappointed in him but still gives him a chance to fix his attitude.

    Upi

Amu's tomboyish bestfriend who loves money, handsome boys and sports.
  • Book Dumb: Upi lacks interest in studying or focusing herself subject especially if someone 'explains something to her in a complicated way. When Mr. Eko wants her to take extra classes to improve her results by having Sho be her tutor, it only makes her even more uninterested in studying thanks to Sho's harsh behavior.
  • Everyone Has Standards: While Upi always wants to be adored by any boys and hopes bad and cool-looking boys will become her boyfriend, she is disgust by Sho's statement that he will adore her if she wants to be "his pet".
  • Hidden Depths: Upi hides her depressive and inferiority complex side beneath her mischievous and energetic side. She always curses her own uselessness due to being unable to help her parents and feels she has no way to make herself beautiful. Despite this, she tries hard to do everything to get a money to help her family, leading her become a dishwasher and helper at Tete Melani's bakso canteen.
  • Huge School Girl: She almost as tall as Kiki.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Subverted. Upi has a massive crush on Enzo, but he is constantly annoyed with her attitude. However, in chapter 154, it's shown that Enzo actually has feelings for her too despite being too shy to admit it and slowly accepts her by becoming her "best friend".
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: Inverted. She is a tomboy and her hair is longer than Amu.
  • Official Couple: Ultimately, Enzo awkwardly confesses his feelings toward Upi in chapter 205. While he tries hard not to show in public that they are dating, he proves to be a caring boyfriend for her.
  • Poverty for Comedy: While Upi is not extremely poor, her family's financial issues and her Money Fetish side are sometimes played for comedy, to the point where she becomes the student council president's "slave" in order to get a payment from them.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Upi is a tall tomboy girl who loves sports, imagining herself dating with some handsome guy and bit a cry-baby.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Upi is a notorious Butt-Monkey whose many misfortunes and insecurities are often Played for Laughs and unresolved. In chapters 147 to 150 Upi is finally allowed to achieve something by winning the "Pencak Silat" competition and making her family, along with her friends and her crush, proud of her.
  • Ship Tease: Upi has a lot this moment with Enzo, a leader of soccer club. Although he sometime annoyed with her attitude and trolling around her, Enzo actually cares about her and still accepting her become "more than friend" despite he way too shy to admit it.
  • Stepford Smiler: Upi always hides her depressive and inferiority complex beneath her goofy and mischievous smile due to her family's financial status.

    Kiki

A lead singer and former Casanova who tries to win Amu's heart.


  • Animal Motifs: Cats. His eyes resemble with cat eyes and is often shown with a Playful Cat Smile toward Amu. When Amu fainted due to exhaustion, she dreamed him as a blue male cat who comes to her to check her condition then she pats him after feeling saved from her anxiety.
  • Artists Are Attractive: Kiki knows to play the guitar and is the lead singer in his school band. He even attempts to woo Amu with his song during his stage performance.
  • Color Motif: Kiki is associated with blue. He has blue eyes and blue hair. A perfect opposite to Amu who associated with red.
  • Cool Big Bro: During free time, he enjoys play with his younger brother, Uuji.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Kiki's fear of losing his loved ones after his mother's death in a motorcycle accident causes him to become possessive toward Amu. Unfortunately, this result in his behavior becoming borderline stalkerish and his friends point out that what he does to Amu is disgusting.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Kiki is very stubborn who too slow to know his mistake toward anyone. But when he realized that his attitude is unacceptable, he willingly change to be a better person.
  • KidAnova: During his day as Junior High School students, he used to attract and date many girls. While he still a Chick Magnet, he no longer change girlfriends as he start to focusing winning Amu's heart.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Kiki likes to follow Amu in an attempt to become closer to her, and took a photo of her without her noticing. Ultimately Played for Drama between Chapters 128 and 140, where one of his classmates who has a crush on him accidentally checks his smartphone and finds out that he is stalking Amu which results in him getting called out and brutally beaten by Amu and Sho.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Kiki basically male version of his mother.

    Sho

A delinquent students who also member of Animal club and later Drama Club.


  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Despite constantly skipping class and coming late when he does bother to turn up, Sho turns out to be smarter than his classmates as he shows that he is excellent at mathematics and none of his answers are wrong.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: After become a member of Drama Club, Sho gains many fan-girls in the school. He has no idea why many girls like him and is extremely annoyed when being crowded by his fan-girls as they try to attract his attention.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Sho spent his entire childhood being unkempt and beaten by his father. It is shown that his mother was also badly battered due to the abuse, resulting in her running away from the house. When his father is imprisoned, Sho was taken by his Uncle who was a street thug and later his Uncle ended being imprisoned too from his criminal activities. Leaving Sho alone with his pet dog on his house and fed himself by become a pickpocket.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Sho has no problem with pickpocketing, skipping class, joining street brawls and challenging other students who are tougher than him. But he still considers stalking someone to be a terrible thing to do.
  • Fight Magnet: Due to his delinquency, Sho often being targeted by any student who more tougher than him including a Blood Knight Student Council named Mahesa.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Sho is normally sarcastic with his friends, but is very friendly with stray animals that he picks up randomly on the street.
  • Hidden Depths: Due to his past, Sho is slightly paranoid. He often checks the doors and windows of his house and makes sure they are locked because he fears that his father will suddenly come after him, despite knowing that his father is already imprisoned.
  • The Insomniac: Sho often has sleep problems. Whenever he tries to sleep, he often has nightmares about his abusive father torturing and shouting at him which results in Sho suddenly waking up in the middle of the night.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Sho calls one of his fan-girls "nasty" due to how she kisses him on his cheek without his consent. While this sounds rude, he is right that the girl should not act too clingy over a boy who she does not know very well and needs to respect his privacy.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Sho is incredibly blunt, sharp-mouth and no-nonsense teenager who like to break the rules. But he is loyal friends to Amu's gang and sometime act as protector for them.
  • No Guy Wants to Be Chased: Sho is clearly annoyed and disgusted by his fan-girls constantly chasing him and trying to get his attention.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Sho and Amu have been close since childhood. Amu finds it more comfortable to talk about her dark secret and her insecurity to him than the others. However, neither of them have any romantic feelings for each other and their relationship is purely platonic.
  • Token Minority: In "NASTAR - Eunoia" confirmed that he is the only one in Amu's gang is not Muslim.

    Toro

A rich students who also member of Cooking Club.


  • Berserk Button: Mentioning that you have a romantic interest in his mother, even if you're just joking with him, will trigger Toro's inner anger and he will start to show you his menacing Death Glare and say' to stay away from his mom.
    Toro : "O' my compatriots and countrymen, I understand one your interest, one of them is an adult woman! But I'm sorry friends, she's my mother, so please don't be ridiculous! Please keep your attitude ! "
  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Toro feels he is the sanest person in his class because he can't stand his classmates' shenanigans. However, it turns out that he can be as weird as his classmates in his own way.
  • Emotionless Boy: Toro is inexpressive in almost every situation. But thanks to his loony friends, he is slowly able to express his emotions.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Toro has an interest in a member of the Student Council named Umami. However, she gently rejects his confession twice by saying that she prefers to see him as a "little brother".
  • Not So Stoic: Toro normally stoic and almost inexpressive. He will lose his stoicism if he tired of his friends shenanigans and when he see someone who try to flirt or have interest to his mother.
  • Real Men Cook: As you expecting of being member of Cooking Club, he definitely can cooks delicious food. In his house sometime he takes a charge on cooking for his mother.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Toro is insanely rich compared to his other friends, to the point that he is able to buy caviar for Upi and Lin, attempts to get Umami to confess with a bucket of money and smartphones, has his own bodyguard, driver, and even a horse. But Toro is a friendly and patient guy who willingly helps his friends.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Instant noodle. Toro will eat bunch big bucket of instant noodle when he outside his house.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Toro is a 15-16 year old teenager who has a father-figure attitude toward his friend. Given that we never see his father and he needs to take care of his mother, who suffers from chronic amnesia, it's fully justified that Toro needs to be matured during his teenage years.

Recurring School Character

    Mr. Eko

Amu's gang homeroom teacher. Previously was a school cleaner and now He is math teacher...probably.


  • Apathetic Teacher: Subverted. Initially Mr. Eko looks like a teacher who doesn't care about his students' problematic behavior. As the story progresses, it's clear that he cares about his students' futures, is prepared to give them a chance and disagrees with the idea of the other teacher that they need to repeat the class due to their poor results.
  • Butt-Monkey: Mr. Eko is always being underestimated by the students due to his previous job as a school cleaner and some of them even constantly forget his name.
  • Cool Teacher: Despite his student always forget his name and not understand about his subject, Mr. Eko still adored by his homeroom students.
  • Economy Cast: Downplayed. There are still many teachers make appearance in comic. However, whenever there is a teacher who can't come to teach his students, he will become the teacher substitute. Before becomes teacher, his previous job were school cleaner and security guard.
  • Running Gag: Despite being a math teacher, sometimes Mr. Eko teaches his students something that's not related to his subject like "How to Stay Alive in a tough World", the growth of seeds and "Darwin's Theory of Evolution".

    Umami

A member of Student Council who also Toro love interest.
  • Jerkass to One: Umami already bit intimidating but still mellow when around male students. However, she more intimidating when she around female students especially to the one who break the rules. Just ask Amu especially Upi.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Umami often intimidates the other students into obeying the school rule and Upi hates her because she feels Umami is a snobbish girl who always looks better than the other. However Umami, still believes that everyone has the potential to be better and praises Upi's hard work helping her family financials.
  • Sitcom Archenemy: Upi hates Umami simply because she often being targeted by Umami on monitoring students who break school rules and thinking that Umami is a Alpha Bitch who like to see other students suffer after Amu "sell" her to Umami and forced to worked as "Student Council helper". Umami however, never see her as an enemy and she still praises Upi hard work and determination for helping her family financials. While Upi hatred on Umami already toned down, she still scared on her.
  • Smoking Is Cool: When Toro first meets Umami in the Student Council Room, he sees her sitting elegantly while smoking a pipe, wearing a Coat Cape and long black gloves, petting a cat and listening classic music. Her appearance instantly impresses Toro.
  • Yellow Eyes of Sneakiness: Umami has amber eyes. She is well-known for being an elegant Proper Lady but is intimidating toward the other students.

    Enzo

Member of Soccer Club who also Upi love interest.


  • A Day in the Limelight: In a compilation webtoon titled "Jadikan Aku Yang Pertama", Chapter 32 is centered on Enzo's past. He is an orphan who is adopted into a nice family and even has Puppy Love with another orphan named Sarah. It also shows that Enzo tries hard to find something new in his life and eventually regrets accepting an offer from a delinquent student to fight for money. He then becomes a good and nice student.
  • Jerk Jock: Subverted. He sometime like trolling Upi for his amusement and annoyed see her attitude when try to attract his attention. But still accepting her help and is quite friendly with the others.
  • Hidden Depths: Unlike the stereotypical Jock character, who is mostly a big-jerk who likes to bully the other students or a dumb student due to focusing on sports rather than other subjects, Enzo is smart both academically and non-academically. In the comic titled "Jadikan Aku Yang Pertama", chapter 32 shows that Enzo enters junior high school and senior high school thanks to a scholarship.
  • Official Couple: Ultimately, Enzo awkwardly confesses his feelings toward Upi in chapter 205. While he tries hard not to show in public that they are dating, he proves to be a caring boyfriend for her.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Most of Enzo's appearances are associated with him being Upi's love interest as she really wants to win his heart by any means and Enzo often responds with annoyance toward her attitude.
  • Tsundere: Enzo is the mellow, no-nonsense and aloof Soccer Club leader who is often annoyed with Upi's attitude and claims it makes him "cringe". However, he does care about her and is willingly to help or comfort her if she really needs him, like how he helps her to find her lost money in Chapter 81. In Chapter 154, despite not being ready to be in a relationship with Upi, Enzo, with a Luminescent Blush on his face, agree to be closer with her.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Subverted. Enzo has short white hair with a blue streak. While he is often annoyed with Upi's behavior, he never hates her and there are lots of moment that show he genuinely cares about her.

    Frey 

Amu's classmate who also member of Music Club.


  • Ambiguously Brown: She and her brothers have dark skin. Its unclear if her family comes from middle or eastern part of Indonesia or a biracial.
  • Betty and Veronica: Frei is a Genki Girl "Betty" who attends the same school club as Kiki, while Amu is a Properly Paranoid and mischievous "Veronica" who is Kiki's best friend. Despite it being clear that Kiki has a romantic interest in Amu and Frei willing giving up her feelings toward Kiki for his happiness, Amu is still unable to accept Kiki as a boyfriend.
  • Connected All Along: The special chapter "BROSISTO MOMENTOS" confirms that Frey is Mahesa and Malik little sister.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite having a huge crush on Kiki, upon learning of his stalkerish behavior toward her best friend who is also her love rival, Frei is disgusted over this and chooses to tell Amu about his problematic behavior. In the next chapter looks like that she is no longer interested in Kiki.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Frey claims Amu is her love rival due to Kiki having an interest in Amu instead of her. Despite this, she remains friendly with Amu and never holds any jealousy toward her.
  • Funny Background Event: Before her A Day in the Limelight chapters, Frey is mostly seen as a background character who does something absurd for comedic effect. The most prominent is when she attempts to punch the Author Avatar for ruining Kiki and Amu's friendship.
  • Foreshadowing: In chapter 40, Frey jokingly tells Kiki that if she failed to help him winning over Amu's heart, she will help him to move on by become his girlfriend. Chapter 128, revealed that Frey indeed has feeling toward Kiki and is ready to giving up her feeling for Amu and Kiki's happiness.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: Is her name Frei or Frey ?
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Frei is just a minor character who is often seen in Funny Background Event. During her focused chapters, she is aware that her feelings for Kiki are unrequited. At the same time, she sees his stalkerish behavior and tells Amu the truth about him, which causes a huge rift in Kiki and Amu's friendship and Character Development for Kiki in the next chapter.

    Mahesa

Member of Student Council and School Safety Monitor who loves to fight and good challenge.


  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Inverted. He and Malik are Frei's older brothers and like to tease and annoy their little sister for amusement such as how they prank her while she is washing a dish.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Mahesa and his sibling have dark skin. Its unclear if his family comes from middle or eastern part of Indonesia or a biracial.
  • Blood Knight: Mahesa loves to fight and challenges any other delinquent students to fight him. He even outright admits that his position on the Student Council and as a School Safety Monitor make him more intimidating.
  • Connected All Along: The special chapter "BROSISTO MOMENTOS" confirms that Mahesa is the older brother of Frei (one of Amu's classmates) and he also has a twin named Malik who is a leader of Cooking Club.
  • Cool Shades: Often seen wearing sunglasses to add his extra awesomeness.
  • Scary Teeth: He has pointed teeth to make him cool and intimidating.

    Lin

Enzo classmate who also member of School Health Care Unit.


  • Deadly Doctor: Whenever Lin takes charge in the School Health Care unit, he will sometimes treat his patients with questionable methods and always straps them to the bed. Fortunately, it's always Parodied and Played for Laughs.
  • Epic Fail: Lin attempts to hypnotize Sho to cure his insomnia. It succeeds, but it's Lin who falls asleep instead of Sho.
  • The Medic: Often seen takes charge on taking care a students who feel sick in Health Care Unit.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Lin rarely drops his smile to the point where he is still smiling when he falls asleep after his failed attempt to hypnotize Sho.
  • Running Gag: After his introduction in chapter 26, Lin sometimes recklessly opens the School Health Unit room's window and hits any main character in the face whenever they cross the room.

    Jeki

Just a normal duck.

A school duck.


  • Ambiguous Gender: It's unclear what gender Jeki is. Judging from the name and Upi always imagining Jeki as a handsome humanoid duck, it's implied that Jeki is a male duck.
  • Amplified Animal Aptitude: It seems that Jeki the duck understands what people say to them despite being a duck. The best example is when Mr. Eko orders Jeki to stop Upi and Enzo from running away from him, and Jeki immediately attacks Upi and Enzo with a knife in their bill.
  • The Cameo: Always make came in every chapter even more often than the Author Avatar.

Families

    Amu's Family 

Amu's family consist of five member including herself. Her parents already divorced and she has two older siblings.


  • Artists Are Attractive: Amu's father is quiet attractive despite his age. However, according to Amu's mother point of view, she see him like a hobo.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Mother: Amu's mother wants her daughter to become a doctor instead of an artist because she feels being an artist would not make anyone instantly become rich and successful as being a doctor would.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Both of Amu's older siblings can be strict and Amu is sometime annoyed by their behavior. Despite this, they are still protective and give a emotional support for their little sister when she has a problem.
  • No Name Given: Amu's older sister is the only sibling character whose name is not yet revealed.
  • Parents as People: Amu's mother is incredibly headstrong and demanding about choosing her daughter's future and constantly forbids her children to meet their father after their divorce. However, she still works hard as a single mother to take care of her children and hopes Amu can have a better and more stable future job of her own.

    Upi's Family 

Upi's family consist of four member including herself. She has parents and one younger sister named Nabila.


  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Nabila often annoys her older sister Upi when she wants get something such as when she wants to play video games on Upi's smartphone or play together with her. If Upi refuses, Nabila will cry very loud and make their mother punish Upi for "bullying" her.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: The parents always fight due to their financial problems. But they never try to divorce and still manage to make their family condition stable together.
  • Dysfunctional Family: Downplayed. Mother and Father always arguing due to lack of money. But they still manage to solve the problems together and make sure that their family still together.
  • Like Mother, Like Daughter: Upi's mother basically like Upi but is more temperament due to her family condition. They are both loud, sociable and like attractive man. Bonus point they also use weird things as their hair stick such as toothbrush and spatula.
  • Parents as People: Both of Upi's parents have their own problems when managing the financial issue and the father believes that the mother secretly has affairs with other men. Special mention that Umi's mother always scolds Upi whenever Upi lazily follows her orders. However, they do their best to keep their condition stable and make sure that their daughters will never suffer due to the financial issue.

    Toro's Family 

Toro's family who only consist himself and his mother.


  • Bespectacled Cutie: Toro's mother is polite and Proper Lady who wears glasses.
  • Disappeared Dad: There is no mention if Toro's father is still alive or passed away. In Chapter 179, its implies that the father is the most influential figure in city.
  • Parents as People:Due to her amnesia, Toro's mother is no longer able to remember anything, including about her own son. While she is still a polite Nice Girl toward the others, such as willingly hearing Toro's story about his problems in life, Toro needs taking care of that she can't provide due to her memory problems.
  • Stepford Smiler: Type II. Toro's mother always smile gently and polite to the others despite no longer remember everything around her.

    Kiki's Family 

Kiki's family who consist three member including himself. His mother already passed away, he live with his father and younger brother named Uuji.


  • Free-Range Children: Kiki's younger brother, Uuji, loves wandering by himself around the town with his bicycle despite still being a kindergarten student.
  • Good Parents: Despite knowing Kiki's problematic behavior of loving a girl that he has a crush on, Kiki's father politely gives encouragement to his son about understanding his friend's feelings and never stalking his crush again. He also tells Kiki to stop blaming himself for not saving his mother because it's not his fault that he failed to do so.
  • Missing Mom: Kiki's mother had already passed away due to a car accident when Kiki was still in the 1st grade of junior high school.
  • Uncanny Family Resemblance: Kiki's mother looks like Gender Bender version of her son with long hair.
  • The Quiet One: Uuji almost never speak. When he speak, its only short simple sentences. In past, he tried to speak with Toro with his Baby Language since he still toddler.

    Sho's Family 

Sho's family who consist of parents, maternal-uncle and pets.


  • Abusive Parents: Sho's biological parents are downright abusive and neglectful. The father always beats Sho whenever he is in the house, and the mother sometime vents her frustration by beating Sho and then crying at him after she stops beating him. After the father is imprisoned due to his criminal activity, the mother leaves Sho to her brother and never comes back to check on his condition.
