Humans

    Sasha Waybright

The main protagonist of the What If? story in Anne's place. Unlike her original cartoon counterpart, Sasha is depicted to be a troubled individual who is struggling to understand the concept of friendship while dealing with her own inner demons as the story progresses.

  • Abandoned Catchphrase: She no longer says, "End of Discussion", whenever she speaks to her frog family. That said she's a bit miffed when Hop Pop uses her catchphrase against her. Unfortunately, she starts using it again in Chapter 25 to convince Anne to let the frogs go. This, in turn, is the final straw for Anne.
  • Action Girl: Just like in canon, she's a natural athlete who practices tai chi and was a member of the cheerleading team. Whether she's fighting a carnivorous plant, dealing with dungeon traps, fighting a vulture or a group of thieves, Sasha will make quick work of them, and that's before the Calamity Box powers kick in.
  • Action Survivor: She spends the entire first chapter surviving in the wilderness before Sprig and Wally discover her.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: In Chapter 21, when Sprig gave Sasha a cake after she jokingly ask for a "Sasha Day", she immediately burst out laughing at how Sprig take her quips literally. That said, she is still touched by his gesture and eats it together with the rest of the family.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Sasha is displayed to have become guilt-ridden by her actions as a toxic friend to Anne and Marcy, even suffering from sleep deprivation and nightmares because of it. This later expands to the Plantars, as she occasionally feels she doesn't deserve all the kindness they give her considering how difficult she's made their lives.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the canon series, Sasha is still a badass yet she never access her powers. Here, she immediately unlocks it in Chapter 23.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Taking Anne's place as the one to meet the Plantars means she's forced to properly self-reflect on her behavior and make herself become a better individual.
  • Adaptational Karma: In the original show, Sasha never really faces any consequences for her behavior until the season one finale. Here, the universe swiftly pays her back for any selfish or manipulative action no matter how minor, to the point that Polly and Sprig coin the term "Sasha-Karma" to describe her bad luck.
  • Adaptational Nice Girl: She is noticeably nicer than her cartoon counterpart and is far more understanding, by learning from her mistakes despite having her moments of being a jerk.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: She and Captain Grime are complete strangers here. Meanwhile she's so close to that Plantars that she muses on more than one occasion that she might even like them more than her actual family, as her parents were rarely around.
  • Aesop Amnesia: Averted. In general, Sasha does regularly learn from her mistake. It just takes some time to properly incorporate the lesson into her behavior. If she lapses into old habits, she's aware of it, and aims to do better next time.
    • Played for laughs in "Date Night without Sasha", where Sasha decides the biggest takeaway from all her prior adventures is that she should just avoid any weird adventures entirely, since involving herself in anything remotely crazy has gone poorly for her. While this results in a mostly stress-free experience for her, she still gets tied up in the chapter's conclusion and learns a more practical lesson:
Polly: And that’s the problem! You didn’t just do nothing, you were avoiding the whole thing! I get that you don’t want to do stuff and get blamed like always but sometimes, you just have to put your nose in things!
  • Anti-Hero: Sasha starts out as pretty selfish and manipulative, not caring what happens to others as long as she gets to benefit herself. Even after undergoing some character development and becoming a kinder person, whether Sasha actually does a good deed still has a decent chance of being motivated purely by pragmatism rather than her improved moral code.
  • The Atoner: After some self-reflecting on her past actions, Sasha becomes this, not only wanting to find Marcy and Anne, but also hoping to make amends for the wrongs that she's caused them even before getting them stuck in Amphibia.
  • Badass Normal: Like her cartoon counterpart, Sasha is capable of standing her ground due to her tenacity and does it all with her own bare hands. However, it is possible that she has some of the Calamity Box's powers due to how the original storyline goes.
  • Basement-Dweller: Not that it was obvious.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Sasha does her best to keep both Sprig and Polly safe and even attempts to talk them out of any adventures that seem too dangerous from the get-go, especially in Chapters 12 and 14.
  • Break the Haughty: The treatment she received in Wartwood along with every suffering she endured caused her to realize how much she screwed up both as a person and a friend.
  • Brutal Honesty: If there is something that Sasha wants to say, she doesn't sugar coat it and gets straight to the point.
  • Character Development: As the story progresses, Sasha turns herself into a better person from a toxic friend who doesn't understand how a real friendship works to a sisterly teenager who is ready to make things right.
  • Character Name and the Noun Phrase: Sasha and the Frogs, naturally.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Sasha uses whatever she has available in order to win. It's part of why Anne is reluctant to fight her.
    • Doesn't go too well against the Curator who fights as unfairly as she does, but better.
  • Contrasting Replacement Character: A variation. Sasha is still a main character in canon, but here, she takes Anne's place as the main focus character. Due to her manipulative tendencies, Sasha is far more likely to come up with plans and weigh her options in any given situation, as opposed to Anne, who prefers to think with her gut. As a result, even when she experiences the same adventures as Anne, they tend to have completely different inciting incidents or can diverge in surprising ways. On the flip side, her less friendly and more confrontational attitude means that the townspeople come to hate and fear her far more than they ever did Anne by the time we hit the fic's version of "Toad Tax".
  • Deadpan Snarker: She's a sarcastic teenager who likes to make some remarks about herself.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype:
    • Of the Manipulative Bastard trope. The story makes it clear that while Sasha could get away easily by using her manipulative nature, the citizens of Wartwood are more smarter than they seem to be and doubles down their treatment to her everytime she tries to stretch the truth or lie to them. Additionally, karma does catch up to Sasha in an alarming degree where she suffers a lot of repercussions with being in danger or getting the entire Plantar's family in danger herself which caused her eventual Persona Non Grata. Lastly, for manipulating Anne during her birthday caused her former best friend to go after her blood if they were ever reunited even if Sasha has changed for the better.
    • She also deconstructs the False Friend. Unlike most examples where a false friend suffers no retribution or anything both on screen and off screen, Sasha is displayed to be burdened with guilt and depression after realizing how much trouble she has caused to Anne, who believes in her as her genuine friend, all because she has no idea how a real friendship works. As a result, her best friend becomes her enemy and responsibility who is going after her.
    • Probably the biggest example is of the Toxic Friend Influence. Her Toxic behavior not only got herself, Anne and Marcy separated, it also landed them in a different world populated by Frog Men. Also the guilt of her actions begin to slowly eat away at her as shown in Chapter 3 and is also responsible for damaging her friendship with Anne as shown in Chapter 15. Long story short, her toxic behavior affects not only herself negatively but also affects her closest friends.
  • Determinator: Chapter 7 has Sasha single-mindedly trying to retrieve Anne's bag due to her incompetence from keeping it safe, barely noticing how the Plantars are struggling to keep up. It thankfully pays off when she manages to get it back, along with some other treasures that temporarily make the family rich.
    • She does this again in Chapter 23 where she survives 5 days protecting the entire village from the longest winter in Wartwood all by herself.
  • Doom Magnet: No matter what she does, Sasha always bring some terrible luck to herself and/or everyone around her, to the point that Sprig and Polly call it "Sasha-Karma", much to her chargin.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Downplayed in that Sasha's not exactly "evil", just selfish. In Chapter 2, she struggles to understand why Sprig would save her from the lake monster when she admits she would have just left Sprig for dead, not realizing that some people are just that kind. It's because of this that Sasha starts to see Sprig as an actual friend.
  • Five Stages of Grief: Sasha undergoes this in the third chapter, when she has nightmares about how she and her friends came to Amphibia. She at first denies having any problems despite these nightmares clearly messing with her sleep, becomes enraged when the family begins to pry before begging them to just leave her alone. She eventually admits to Sprig her guilt and shame for what she's done to her friends, before accepting what she's done and gaining the Heroic Resolve to find them.
  • Forced Transformation: She got turned into a newt briefly in Chapter 11.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Sasha takes Anne's place in this story and each chapter shows how she copes with the same problems Anne had faced.
  • Free-Range Children: Unlike Anne, Sasha doesn't have a close relationship with her parents, with her having gone entire days without seeing them due to how busy they are. She doesn't miss this part of her life at all, and it's the reason why she doesn't like cooking despite being almost as skilled as Anne at it, since it inevitably reminds her why she became so skilled in the first place.
Sasha: And now, every morning, I’d make my own meals and catch the bus. Every night, I eat dinner on my own.
  • Freudian Excuse: Sasha's parents rarely being around made her quite controlling over what other things she does have in her life, turning her into a manipulative jerkass who wants to be the most important person in the room. Being with the Plantars helps her slowly break out of this mindset.
  • Girls Love Chocolate: Sasha is implied to be that.
  • Glowing Eyes: Her eyes glow with a pink color whenever she's upset or stressed.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Sasha says "heck" a lot, only to be admonished for her foul language by Hop Pop.
Sasha: "HECK" IS NOT A BAD WORD!
  • Guilt-Induced Nightmare: In Chapter 3, her guilt over being a toxic friend to both Anne and Marcy causes her to have nightmares about it, which makes her too scared to sleep.
  • Hates Being Touched: Downplayed. Sasha dislikes it whenever anyone touches her but is played more as a Running Gag.
  • Heel Realization: Suffers this from 3 separate chapters.
    • Chapter 3 highlights her guilt for being a toxic friend to Anne and Marcy.
    • Chapter 8 has Sasha wanting to make it up to her friends.
    • Chapter 13 pushes Sasha to realize how her manipulative nature destroys everything around her including her friendship and this caused her to be bullied by the townspeople.
  • Heroic Resolve: After a dose of Heel Realization, Sasha resolves to find her friends and make it up to them.
  • Hidden Depths: For this story at the least. Sasha knows how to cook based on the magazines she read, learn the basic survival skills to survive the harsh blizzard, and finally, planned a party when she was 8.
  • Honest John's Dealership: Does this in Chapter 13, promising that the juice the Plantars are trying to sell repels monsters. It backfires horribly and causes her to be disliked even more by the town, with the townsfolk insulting her even more regularly and banning her from entering the marketplace.
  • It's All My Fault: Sasha blames herself for causing Anne and Marcy to be trapped in Amphibia and ruining Anne's birthday.
  • I Will Find You: Sasha resolves herself to go through Amphibia to search for her friends.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Sasha is manipulative and self-centered, but still cares about the wellbeing of her friends and the Plantars even before her character development goes into full gear. She only becomes more protective of them as the story goes on and she starts actively working to become a better person, to the point that even insulting those she cares about is her berserk button.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: The Reunion Arc has her still wearing the blue evening gown while fighting the toads and her best friend.
  • Laser-Guided Karma/Karma Houdini Warranty: Sasha is learning the hard way of her actions have consequences in some chapters. Also her karma is catching up to her for manipulating Anne and being a toxic friend as seen in some of her more unfortunate moments in the story.
  • Losing a Shoe in the Struggle: If the poster is any indication, just like Anne, she lost her left shoe the moment she arrived in Amphibia.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: At the end of "Toad Tax", Sasha's main weapon becomes a pristine silver shield, highlighting this version's desire to protect those she cares about. Doesn't stop her from using it as a blunt object to bash monsters and enemies with as often as she uses it for its intended purpose, though.
  • Luminescent Blush: Chapter 17 has Sasha blushing every time someone compliments her as she is flustered by the gesture.
  • Persona Non Grata: She is banned from the farmer's market from Chapter 14 onward due to her scam in the previous chapter nearly destroying the town.
  • Pet the Dog: She has a lot of these moments in the story but not as much as rescuing Mayor Toadstool from falling to his death in the gorge.
    • In Chapter 18, Sasha openly rejects a position in Stumpy's diner since she prefers to cook for the Plantars instead.
  • Precision F-Strike: Chapter 1 has her saying the word, "Hell", when she is describing about Amphibia.
  • Sanity Slippage: Due to what happened in Chapter 23, Sasha grows increasingly unhinged to the point she suffers from a mental breakdown.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: While the readers can't see it, she is imagined to have cleaned herself up as described by the author where Sasha, during the frog of the year party, wears a cute sky-blue evening gown with pearl earrings and elbow-long gloves, her hair tied to a braided bun with a flapper headband, while lifting a champagne glass on one hand.
  • Sleep Deprivation: As her guilt over being a False Friend consumes her, she has a hard time falling asleep, not helped by the nightmares she gets when she does sleep.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: To most people, Sasha comes across like a bratty teenager. Inside, however, Sasha is dealing with a lot of angst, not only regarding trying to go back home with Anne and Marcy, but her realization that she's been a bad friend to them all along.
  • Super Mode: Sasha unlocks the full power of her gemstone in the finale. It's strong enough to prevent Anne, who was also powered by her own gem, from moving.
  • Supreme Chef: While it's not on par with Anne, Sasha is a good chef as shown where she manage to create several dishes using only the recipes of a magazine. However, she doesn't like to cook much due to how absent her parents are in her life.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After distrusting her and hating her for much of the story, Chapter 19 ends with the remaining townsfolk finally accepting Sasha as one of their own for protecting the village from the tax collectors.
    • Chapter 24 has Sasha being respected by the entire town for planning the greatest party ever.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Sasha becomes less selfish and uncaring as the story progresses thanks to the Plantars' family influence.
  • Token Human: For Wartwood at the least.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Used to be this back home, but she's working to no longer be this. Helps that Sprig was immediately able to tell that Sasha's initial view of friendship is horribly twisted.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: She gets quite the calling out whenever she tries to manipulate the Wartwood residents. Which is often.

    Anne Boonchuy

Sasha's lost friend who, in this version of events, winds up in the Toad Tower instead of Sasha. Unlike her previous counterpart, Anne is traumatized by her capture and is much more vulnerable due to Sasha's old manipulative actions. As a result, she becomes malleable to Grime's own tactics and becomes a hardened warrior.

  • Adaptational Badass: Justified, considering that she is in a more hostile environment she had to adapt to her surroundings. Not to mention that she helped fight against an ant invasion to defend Toad Tower, something her canon counterpart didn't experience when she first arrived to Amphibia.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Justified once more; as a result of taking Sasha's place in the story, it is inevitable that Anne will become the main antagonist due to Grime's influence on her to use her anger to fight Sasha.
  • Break the Cutie: Anne's ideals and optimism are slowly being shattered in Chapter 15, when she and Grime talk about Sasha while training.
  • Character Development: A darker example. While Sasha is learning to be a better person overall, Anne is heading in the opposite direction as her time in Toad Tower influences her worldview. This in turn causes Anne to reflect on her past friendship with Sasha and view their relationship in a more negative light as well as possibly developing a more cynical mindset.
  • Contrasting Replacement Character: A variation. Anne maybe one in the main cast, but she takes Sasha's place in Toad Tower. In Sasha's place, Anne at the start refuses to tell Grime about her friends' locations until they are forced into an Enemy Mine situation which allows them to begin trusting one another. Next, she tries to be more socially interactive with the toads and her relationship with Grime is rather rocky with her bouts of anger and frustration occasionally flaring up. Finally, without the right people to guide her, she is vulnerable to Grime's words in slowly making her into a far more braver yet vicious individual at the expense of her kind nature.
  • Darker and Edgier: A variation. This version of Anne is depicted to be more villainous and murderous than her cartoon counterpart due to taking Sasha's place in the story.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype:
    • Of the Extreme Doormat and Beware the Nice Ones. While it's true that Anne is a good person at heart, she still would respond with negative repercussions. From Sasha's perspective, Anne would willingly do whatever she wants using her manipulation. However, Anne isn't like her cartoon counterpart as she quickly catches on what Sasha has done to her which triggers the long, dormant anger that she has been harboring for years. After Anne's grown a spine, she's nothing short of hellbent on proving she doesn't need Sasha, using her powers' catastrophic potential in her duel against Sasha without sufficient regard for the potential to cause grievous bodily harm to her friend; not knowing that Sasha is changing for the better.
    • Also of the Nice Girl. Anne is a kind and innocent girl at heart, however such types of sentiments do not blend well to the harsh and dangerous environment of Toad Tower. Eventually the environment and her circumstances will cause her to be a more hardened individual at the expense of her kind nature.
  • Determinator: Landing on a hostile environment, fighting alongside her captors and even stopping the mandibles of a giant queen ant with her bare hands in a single day pretty much seals the deal on Anne's will power.
  • Grew a Spine: A darker example of this. Anne becomes even more braver and better than before, but at the cost of her own innocence since her anger has wrapped her in a vengeance against Sasha, not knowing she's already having a Heel–Face Turn moment.
  • I Will Find You: At first, she asks for Grime's help to send scouting parties to help her find her friends. As of Chapter 15, however, this might turn into a bad thing...
  • Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: Anne is teetering on crossing this line after she Grew a Spine. Downplayed as of the penultimate chapter — Anne genuinely believes Hop Pop is a source of terrorism due to Grime's influence, and she goes more out of her way to avoid unnecessary bloodshed among the frogs than Canon!Sasha did in her position, but she drugs Sasha in an attempt to prevent her from interfering, and she furthermore issues the order to throw Hop Pop to Grime's flytrap herself.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After dealing a killing blow and surviving a great fall, Anne looks at the unconscious Sasha next to her and laments over what happened.
Anne: Why... Why did I do that? How could I even think of doing that?
  • Rage Breaking Point: After venting her anger to a training dummy, Anne finally reaches her peak where she is angry enough to go after Sasha's blood.
  • Sanity Slippage: She becomes more unhinged and dangerous after she grew a spine and is ready to go out to kill her former childhood friend.
  • Sympathy for the Hero: "Hero" might be stretching it at this point, but Grime does feel genuinely sorry for Anne for having a false friend throughout her life.
  • Token Human: Like Sasha and potentially Marcy, she's the only human in Toad Tower.

    Marcy Wu
Sasha and Anne's other friend who is currently residing in Newtopia. At this point in time, not much is known about her current activity, although both Sasha and Anne will bump into her eventually later on in the story. How she interacts with the 2 different versions of Sasha and Anne is yet to be seen.
  • The Ghost: She has yet to appear in the story, which is justified since the story still takes place during the events of Season 1. The narration will occasionally allude to her, though.
    • She finally appears proper in Chapter 27 "Reunion Pt 3" as part of a short scene.
  • Token Human: Like her other 2 friends, she's the only human in Newtopia.
  • X-Ray Vision: Marcy's powers were triggered in the Season 1 finale, revealing it to be this. She also sees "something" in the basement, implied to be The Core.

Wartwood

    In general
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Instead of the normally nice Anne that they befriended, they are forced to live with Sasha, where they treated her more hostile than Anne due to her Jerkass personality that clashes with their own.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: Of the Apathetic Citizens type. The citizens of Wartwood, unlike the traditional type of citizens who doesn't give a damn about what is happening around them, are much more smarter than they seem to be here than in the original cartoon as evident where they won't let Sasha's actions slide that easily since they all well aware how dangerous she is compared to Anne, who won their trust gradually for being herself. It is more evident where they even take a step further to pull a Persona Non Grata on Sasha for doing an Honest John's Dealership against them since they all take their jobs as sellers and producers seriously with utmost care.
  • Fantastic Racism: At best they treat Sasha with a grunt or barely interact with her, at worst they shun her and are somewhat hostile towards her. Although this is justified as they have never seen a human before and probably fear the unknown about her. Further fueled in Chapter 13 when Sasha attempts to pull an Honest John's Dealership which results in them banning her from the market.
  • Frog Men: The entire town is populated by frog people who operate a farming village.
  • Pet the Dog: Chapter 19 has the villagers forgiving Sasha for protecting Wartwood from the tax collectors.
    • Chapter 23 has the villagers showing some gratitude to Sasha after she spends 5 whole days protecting them.
  • Truer to the Text: Downplayed; Most of the Wartwood villagers aren't as apathetic compared to their canon counterparts, but their personalities are largely the same.

    Sprig Plantar
An adventurous 10-year-old pink frog who helps Sasha to cope with her toxic friend nature, the grandson of Hopediah Plantar and Polly's big brother.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • In this story, he has a crush on both Maddie and Ivy. Whereas in the original series, he only has eyes for Ivy.
    • In addition, instead of Anne, he forms a friendship with Sasha, who is more challenging than Anne yet she is much more easier to understand.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Sprig seems to be more matured here compared to the series proper as evident where he seems to be more sensible and less reckless when handling his life with Sasha and Polly.
  • Cheery Pink: Just like his cartoon counterpart.
  • Eye Scream: Suffered this in Chapter 4, although it's Played for Laughs.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Zigzagged, compared to his canon counterpart, Sprig and Polly often have their moments of being the responsible one in the family. To differentiate it, Sprig is way more gentle and cautious whenever he's with Sasha and tries to make her nicer in her own way, while Polly is more straightforward and critical with Sasha, and is not afraid to tell the truth which can hurt her feelings.
  • A Friend in Need: Sprig always jumps at the call to help Sasha whenever she's in trouble.
  • Little Brother Is Watching: Sprig keeps Sasha's actions in check during her stay in Amphibia as if he's her little brother figure.
  • Morality Pet: Sprig is the first to interact with Sasha in any meaningful way, thus acts as a catalyst Sasha to take her first steps to becoming a better person.

    Polly Plantar
A quirky and bratty pollywog, Sprig's little sister and Hopediah's granddaughter.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: It's quite subtle here that Polly is understanding towards Sasha's actions, even being appreciative to her for being a big sister figure.
  • Badass Adorable: She is a pollywog after all, and she is quite rambunctious for her age.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Like her cartoon counterpart, still the youngest and can behave like one.
  • In Harm's Way/Thrill Seeker: Always looking for adventure and danger. In fact, she expresses disappointment that Sasha won't eat her at the end of Chapter 2.
Polly: That's soooo boring! YOU'RE so boring!

    Hopadiah Plantar
Sprig and Polly's traditional and overprotective grandpa, a hard-working farmer, and Bessie's owner.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Hop Pop's story with Bessie the snail is much more detailed in Chapter 8, where he rescued the snail from a Bratty Half-Pint who imprisoned thousands of snails just to abuse them.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: He seems to be more trusting of Sasha with the Calamity Box compared to Anne since he has full trust in her for keeping the family safe.
  • Deep South: Just like his cartoon counterpart, his accent gives off this vibe.
  • Fatal Flaw: His strict believe into tradition is still present here.
  • For Your Own Good: In Chapter 24, after seeing how Sasha's health and well-being has taken a toll on her, Hop Pop finally decides to bring Sasha home by having Wally to push her out of the party.
  • Ironic Echo: He used Sasha's abandoned catchphrase after ordering Wally to push Sasha back to Bessie after her sleepiness is catching up.
Hop Pop: You're going to take Bessie back home and you're going to bed! End of discussion!
Sasha: (being dragged away) YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DOOOOOO!
  • Large Ham: He has his moments of being this.
Hop-pop: HERESY! BLASPHEMOUS! GRANDMAMA PLANTAR, SAVE ME!
  • Lethal Chef: Played with. While his cooking is tasty for Sprig and Polly, Sasha is not an amphibian but a human. Meaning her biological makeup isn't used to an insect focused diet.

    Maddie Flour
The creepy young daughter of the town's baker who has a crush on Sprig before becoming his best friend.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In the original series, Maddie has no interactions with Ivy at all, not even knowing about her relationship with Sprig. Here, she joins Sprig and Ivy together during the Firefly Formal and befriends the two properly.
  • Ascended Extra: A variation, Maddie seems to have a more prominent role here than just a side character as shown where she becomes one of Sprig's friends.
  • Creepy Good: True to her original characterization, Maddie is a scary girl but she does her best to make friends with everyone around Wartwood.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: She is a girl who loves macabre and all but she is a nice girl underneath.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: In Chapter 16, she wears a yellow dress which makes her look elegant than her patched-up black baker shirt.

    Felicia Sundew
The owner of Felicia's Tea Shoppe, Ivy's single mother, and a close friend to the Plantars.
  • Adaptation Expansion: She has her own backstory of how she became the person she is today.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: A slight example. She appears more earlier than the series proper, even being one of the first few resident of Wartwood to accept Sasha.
  • Ascended Extra: She has more appearance in the story even having her own story centering around her.
  • Mama Bear: But of course, she is Ivy's mother, and she would do anything to keep her daughter safe.
  • Self-Made Woman: In a way, Felicia has endured her own struggles in starting up her own business by working as a maid in another person's restaurant before opening up her own.

    Ivy Sundew
The daughter of Felicia, Sprig and Maddie's best friend, and a tomboy.
  • Adaptation Expansion: See Parental Abandonment.
  • Parental Abandonment: Much like canon, Ivy's father is nowhere to be seen. However, it's stated that he left the family some time ago, the reasons unknown.
  • Trap Master:
    • Ivy's first appearance involved her using a decoy to distract Sprig as she ambushes him.
    • She uses a variety of traps against Tritonio, who dodges it all without a scratch. Mostly.

    Wally Ribbiton
The local loon of Wartwood with a closed left eye. He is revealed to have actually come from Ribbitvale, the fanciest town in Amphibia.
  • Would Hit a Girl: In Chapter 37, he punches Sasha in the stomach for slapping his father, then literally kicks her while she's down for kidnapping him to force him and his dad to make up.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He doesn't hesitate to attack Sasha, who's only 14, for her antics in Chapter 37.

Toad Tower

    Grime
The Leader of the Frog Valley's Toad Tower, and Anne's master.
  • A Father to His Men: When having a discussion with Anne in Chapter 15, he told her he is responsible for all the lives of his troops. Whether or not this rings true is yet to be determined.
  • Break the Cutie/Corrupt the Cutie: His interactions with Anne can be seen as this, from telling her the harsh reality of Sasha's past friendship with her and egging her to unleash her anger towards Sasha when they eventually meet.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Grime felt genuine sympathy for Anne upon finding out about her toxic friendship with Sasha. If you believe what he said about being A Father to His Men, this could be justified.
  • Karma Houdini: Discussed with Anne during their training in Chapter 15. Grime tells how Sasha's friendship is either leaving Anne to take the blame or abandoning her and how such actions do not count as true friendship. This is egging Anne to unleash her inner anger.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Justified. Considering the hostile location he and his troops are in and being a battle scarred commander, Grime finds anything not contributable to Toad Tower a waste of time and resources.
  • Teach Him Anger: Grime does this to Anne in Chapter 15, hoping to turn Anne into a hardened individual.

    Bufo
The leader of Naruto's Toad Tower, and the Toad Lord of the East.

Others

    Ms. Pinky (SPOILERS
A mysterious figure that appears in Sasha's dreams.
  • Adaptational Badass: Apparently the pink frog whom Andrias once trusted was a wielder of the calamity gem of strength, unlike Leif Plantar in the show.
  • Aliens Love Human Food: As from the finale, all her appearances involve her talking or eating human food.
  • Broken Record: Her appearances before the finale is just repeating the same sentences over and over again.
Ms. Pinky: Don't let him get the box! Bury it or lock it away! It doesn't matter! Just don't let him get the box! And if all else fails… Hide the box in another world where it cannot be reached, and pray that no one finds it and dooms their own.
  • Sentient Cosmic Force: She claims to be a personification of Strength, taking form of the previous host.

    Domino II
A coastal kill-a-moth that Anne took in following Grime's exile.

    Tritonio Espada
A sword-wielding newt thief that occassionally speaks Spanish.
  • Adaptational Late Appearance: Unlike the canon series, Sasha doesn't meet Tritonio during his time as a daycare owner. Instead, he appears during the Season 1 finale, having been captured and jailed in Toad Tower.
  • The Casanova: He is a smooth talker and tells a lot about his skills with women.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Because Sasha, Sprig and Polly were never sent to the daycare center, Tritonio did the Tiger Moth's Eye heist all on his own. Much like canon, he gets captured.
  • Rake Take: He gets hit by one after dodging numerous traps set up by Ivy. The rake is not one of her traps.
