Cabba's family

    Cabba

I believe that following Frost's guidance, I feel this universe could shine. It sounds silly, I know, but...

A young Saiyan born from a family of non-combatants with the dream of becoming an elite hero inspired by the emperor Frost.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In the source material, Cabba is a pretty down-to-earth guy with no sign of angst. In the fic, he is constantly downplaying himself due to his average status.
    • Due to the fanfic expanding on Cabba and Frost's relationship, the revelation of Frost's true nature makes Cabba question the reason on why he even became a warrior. In the source material, Frost's true nature is quickly ignored by Cabba, who doesn't talk about him pass episode 35 but he did arrest him off-screen as revealed in episode 71.
    • According to Taura, the moment a warrior truly grows is when they shed their first kill. Killing Taura left him with trauma and Survivor Guilt, hearing her final words repeatedly in his head. When Vegeta is beating him to a bloody pulp, Cabba transforms in a Super Saiyan confusing him for her and Frost.
    • On a more clear difference, in the source material Cabba remained composed as Vegeta was beating him, politely saying he gave up. In the fic, he yells for help and is clearly terrified.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the source material, Cabba never reached a power beyond Super Saiyan until the Tournament of Power (in the anime, where he got Super Saiyan 2). In The Time Hitman, he has Super Saiyan fourth grade, used to disguise himself on Planet Cinnam.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Zigzagged. Cabba is still an overly polite Nice Guy, but he has the occasional smug moments. He willingly joked to Frost he was going to throw him to the depths of a black hole in the middle of the universe just to scare him.
  • Adaptational Wimp: While it is pretty vague in canon, Cabba is described as a prodigy among the Saiyans of Universe 6, being personally selected for the Tournament of Destroyers. This fan prequel, however, adds a different context to him as a Child Prodigy and turns him into a lucky guy that is described as "average" by everyone, inspired by the character's eventual fate in the Universal Survival saga and future stories.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Taura calls him "Cabba boy". Camelo calls him "sugar lump".
  • Big Good: His goal at the end of The Saiyan and the Devil's Fruit. After knowing that Frost lied to the entire universe about his true nature, Cabba decides to turn his lies into truth with him as the leading man.
  • Came Back Strong: He doesn't die, but Cabba's training with Renso in the Meteor Desert is surviving attacks capable of destroying asteroids due to the Saiyans ability to grow stronger after near-death experiences (named Zenkai in the fanbase), and he did this for five years. Not only that, but inside the Tree of Might he is nearly killed off twice and is healed partially by Cress and then fully by Camelo, allowing him to reach the level of power enough to stand up to Taura.
  • Child Prodigy: Deconstructed Trope.
    • While he is determined to be a hero, the truth is that Cabba is more favored out of nepotism and luck than actual talent. Cabba is allowed to be a participant in the Lad Sarced games at the young age of 13, after five years of intense training with Renso, but during the games he is considered just lackluster, and below the other more experienced soldiers. Taura does have Villain Respect on him, due to both of them entering the games at such a young age, but claims he only entered due to Renso's nepotism, and his only victory in the games against Caulifla is due to her meddling and Frost's intervention.
    • Due to his status as the youngest member of the survivors inside the Tree of Might, Cabba is basically helpless and had to be protected by his comrades. Kora dies protecting him, and just by Taura's competitive pride he has the luck to be alive. These events leave him traumatized by the end of the story, and is due to his Survivor Guilt he still fights on the war.
  • Dead Guy Junior: He discovers in chapter 5 that he was named after his uncle who died during the wars against the Space Pirates.
  • The Everyman: He has a fairly mundane family compared with any other Saiyan in the series, with his parents being non-combatants with jobs anyone could have. Cabba himself has nothing remarkable beyond a certain oddity in his body that Caulifla also has.
  • Fan Boy: Of Frost, ever since he was a child the emperor of the universe has been his biggest inspiration to become a hero.
  • Hidden Depths: Cabba's biggest secret is that he enjoys reading romantic novels, with his favorite one being Love of the shooting stars, about a young dorky man and a shy girl who is possessed by a demon. He doesn't talk about it with anyone. However, he himself admits that he knows is a trashy novel and likes it because the protagonist becomes king, which he identifies with.
  • Humble Hero: Cabba is a humble kid, and due to the traumatic events of the Tree of Might incident rejects changing his outfit after turning into a member of the Elite Saiyans.
Cabba: I don't feel like I deserve such honor. I'm my mind, using the color blue represents both my respect for the royal family and my fellow rookies who will help rebuild our society, but it also means I can get much stronger and not be a top dog. I want to protect my homeland from something like this ever happening, right now I'm not ready
  • I Just Want to Be Special: He wants to be a hero as big as Frost. In the final part of the epilogue, he even extends that the reason he likes a trashy novel like Love of the shooting stars is that is about a young soldier turning into a king, which resonates with him.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: Cabba is a noble kid, and while he can be arrogant at times, his biggest wish is to be a hero. During the story, he is constantly tempted to eat the fruit of the Tree of Might but never does it, instead giving to his dying pet so it can live longer. This is an Invoked Trope on Taura and Camelo's behalf, as they want to know if he has the pure heart needed to revive Esparra. He does.
  • Interspecies Friendship: With Magetta. Ever since they met in the Meteor Desert, Cabba considers him a true friend due to being the only person he can talk without feeling ashamed, and will always make sure people call him by his name or gender. Many people find the friendship weird as they see Magetta less of a person and more of a weird beast.
  • Keet: While he is a quiet kid, he loves to geek about the stuff he knows regarding the Sadala heroes and the symbolism of the uniforms. Renso and some others tell him to call down, is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.
  • Noodle Incident: He had a diarrhea problem once. and some people never let it down. His diarrhea returned on Planet Cinnam, earning him the nickname of Crapba from Rasley.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: This is how he feels regarding everyone. The fact he is outclassed by Caulifla since they were kids saddens him.
'While Cabba was able to participate, he couldn't help but feel somewhat helpless to hear such words. It was like all the time he invested in training for years were for naught, as he was going to be overshadowed by everyone else. Everyone would think of the eight times champion who worked directly with Frost, or the second place which fought alongside the Arlians in a war. Even a delinquent was better than him since they were toddlers. By contrast, he was just a kid, with no exceptional abilities except for some vague oddity or even a family name to hold into. He was normal, he was average, he was simply Cabba.''
  • Weak, but Skilled: Cabba is consistently called average in strength, with a really slender body to boot. Yet, he is disciplined enough to fight his own and has enough stamina to endure powerful attacks. He defeats Caulifla thanks to his training. During his fight with Vegeta he is basically helpless to do anything.

    Cabba's family

Cabba's rather unimportant family. With the exception of Cabba's uncle, none of them are fighters, with his father selling vehicles and his mother being a reporter.

  • Edible Theme Naming:
    • Cabba's mom name is Ghai Ian, a type of cabbage.
    • Cabba's little brother name is Suybe, from the same Japanese pun as Cabba.
    • And of course, Cabba's uncle name comes from cabbage, but you already knew that.
  • Mythology Gag: Cabba's father is unfit for battle, and is known for selling space ships with the Tech Tech aliens. Likewise, Suybe is taken from the same name pun as Cabba. Both of these traits are a giant Tarble reference.
  • Non-Action Guy: None of them are fighters. Cabba's father is a merchant, not fit for battle; his mother used to belong to a medical squad and is now a reporter, and Suybe is more interested in space ships than fighting.
  • Nuclear Family: They are a pretty standard family besides the uncle who passed away in the war. They are there to make Cabba more average-looking.
  • Posthumous Character: Cabba's uncle died years ago, and he was named after him in his honor.
  • Soap Opera Disease: Cabba's father sickness is never given a name. It is a genetic disease that gravely affects his lungs, making him worthless in a fight. His sons don't appear to have inherited the disease, though.
  • Sudden Sequel Death Syndrome: Cabba's father passes away in The Time Hitman, ten months after the events of The Saiyan and the Devil's fruit, due to the terrorist attack worsening his health.
  • Unnamed Parent: Despite having the most focus, Cabba's father is not named due to the kind narrator forgetting his name. The story implies his name is Suybe, like his second son.

The dinosaur formerly known as Toyble

The dinosaur that belongs to the family. She was named Toyble at first, but after they realized she is female they dropped the name.

  • Expy: The author notes compare her with Dino from the The Flintstones.
  • Gender Flip: Icarus is male (and a dragon), Cabba's pet is female (and a dinosaur)
  • Orwellian Retcon: March 2019 rewrite of chapter 2 turned her into a velociraptor with purple feathers. Her species wasn't specified in the original text.

Caulifla's family

    Caulifla

A prodigy born with immense potential, and Cabba's rival.

  • Accidental Hero: Her reckless decision to fight the vine creatures despite their invincibility is a stupid decision that made Pirina go save her. Pirina' presence made Esparra go insane as he thought the Namekian was Lusk, and that anger made Esparra lose control of his body and explode inside the Tree of Might, destroying it.
  • Friendly Rival: While she sells herself as someone that doesn't care about wimps, the truth is she and Cabba are on friendly terms due to both knowing about the fruit of the Tree of Might.
  • Hey, You!: She never calls Cabba by name, instead of calling him "pipsqueak". When Cabba defeated her in the Coliseum games, he earned her respect and she started to properly call him by name.
  • Jerkass with a Heart of Gold: She is rude and treats many people with disdain, but she has a good heart deep down. By the end of the story, she leaves to the turfs to help the orphans and victims of her aunt's terrorist attack.
  • The Gift: She was born with immense potential, but she is too arrogant to even join the Sadala Force due to feeling they are beneath her or to properly train in martial techniques. Renso is disappointed at this, alongside Taura.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: She was born with immense potential and her power surprises everyone, yet her fighting style frankly sucks. Frost is even disappointed the daughter of a champion has a poor fighting style.

    Renso

A captain of the Sadala Forces, and Cabba's mentor.

  • Ascended Extra: He is a character exclusive to the anime of Super, and only appeared in one episode. Yet the fic explores him alongside his relationship with Caulifla.
  • Barrier Warrior: Renso is the creator of a technique that captures enemies inside a powerful barrier, named the Crusher Shield, powerful enough to trap Magetta. As a Vine Monster, he also uses it on an Extinction Bomb of the Galactic Patrol to avoid that it falls on planet Sadala.
  • Nice Guy: He treats Cabba so well, some people think he is his dad.

Other Saiyans

    Kora

A Saiyan from the Ambrosia colony in Planet Nectar who participates in the Lad Sarced games.

  • Barrier Warrior: Like Renso, she can create a powerful barrier to capture enemies named the Crusher Shield. Taura is trapped by it, but she wrecks it from the inside to establish how dangerous she is in power.
  • Damsel in Distress: Despite being a Saiyan, she is out cold inside the Tree of Might, leaving Cabba to protect her.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Kora is an anagram of okra, a vegetable.
  • Faux Action Girl: While described as a formidable warrior, she doesn't justify her role a lot, being knocked it out during a good half of the second half of the story. Justified, as Cabba and Cress can't do anything to the same enemies as her.
  • Mauve Shirt: While she has enough characterization, with she and Cabba bonding a bit, Taura kills her without much fanfare and steals her armor to give it to Esparra.
  • Pink Girl, Blue Boy: She wears a pink uniform while in the games assisting Cabba, who wears blue.

    Cress

A member of the Saiyan elite who participates in the Lad Sarced games. A hero who saved Planet Arlian from an evil king.

  • Amicable Exes: He was formerly Taura' husband, and nothing indicates they have a bad relationship.
  • Chess Motif: Described as a knight by Evaprimolca, due to his powers.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Cress comes from watercress, a vegetable.
  • Goggles Do Nothing: He wears a pair of yellow goggles, but they don't offer anything.
  • Mauve Shirt: While he has enough characterization, he ends up being killed by Evaprimolca without much fanfare.
  • Mind over Matter: He can move objects or people with his mind, a technique he learned during his journeys. Thanks to this, he turns into the most vital member of the Coliseum Games, as the Metal Men were unstoppable by normal Saiyans.
  • Mythology Gag: He saved the Arlians from an evil king, just like Vegeta and Nappa in Z filler. Unlike them, he did it for heroic reasons.

    King Sadala

If I could fight in that tournament for the Destroyer, I would. I'm intrigued by how powerful those warriors are.

The king of Planet Sadala.

  • Brought Down to Normal: Why wasn't the king invited to the tournament between the two universes? The king was eaten by the Tree of Might and turned into a vine monster. After the tree is destroyed and he got out of the baest, all he found is that his healing cells weakened, turning him into a weakling. He orders Cabba to not say anything about it.
Lord Sadala: You see what that traitor has done. We can still fight, but the ones who survived became weakened by such horrible act. Except for you.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Constantly mentioned through the fanfic as The Ghost, Lord Sadala appears in chapter 19, when the conflict is long over. He is the one who promotes Cabba as a member of the Elite Saiyans.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Due to the side effects of the Tree of Might, he went to have a huge thirst, even thinking regular water is some kind of wine.
  • The Good King: He has a harsh attitude when Cabba shows weakness, even calling him a coward for crying, but the moment Cabba talks about the torture Camelo put him through, he opens up and tells him everything will be alright, showing he has a compassionate side.
  • O.C. Stand-in: By the time the fanfic was written, Lord Sadala has never appeared in Super, with only a brief description given by Cabba in the anime and him being named in the manga. He is never described as an Enforced Trope, just so his appearance doesn't clash with his canon appearance if he ever appears.

Others

    Frost

The emperor of universe 6, and a legendary hero beloved by all.

  • Adaptational Heroism: Frost is still the emperor of the Space Pirates like in canon, committing countless wars while selling himself as a hero, but he claims that thanks to the wars he himself started, the universe prospered and asks the audience if he is really evil.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: In canon, Frost is known to be overly nice and gentle. Since his deal is that he is a popular leader, the author gives him some traits associated with populist leaders like occasionally being vulgar and playful with the audience.
  • Blatant Lies: During the epilogue, he starts to claim a bunch of lies just to save his skin from being sent to the Galactic Patrol prison. Cabba doesn't believe him one minute.
  • Chess Motif: During the fight with Evaprimolca, he is described as a king. When he is captured by the Vine Monsters and Evaprimolca, he is in a checkmate situation. When he is captured, he claims to be a king and without him, the empire will collapse. Cabba doesn't care.
  • Badass Boast: When Evaprimolca told him he was there to capture him, Frost isn't even baffled.
Frost: I heard that many times. Try updating your system.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He is known to joke around, with half of his commentaries on the Lad Sarced games being jokes, even ones quite obscene to kids. When Cabba told him about Taura's plans for a revolution, he merely chuckled.
Frost: A revolution? Wow, if I had a penny for every wannabe wanting one, the entire galaxy wouldn't be suffering food losses.
  • Super Form: When he is found by Cabba inside the Tree of Might, Frost is using his giant second form (which he didn't use in Super). He got out of the wall thanks to it. During his fight with Evaprimolca, he feels the need to use his third form (named the Assault form) but is defeated. He uses his final form only in the epilogue against Piccolo under Champa's orders.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: He is beloved by all the Saiyans and many races in the cosmos, to the point the Lad Sarced Coliseum are full because he was coming to the games, but some people like Caulifla and Cabba's mother find him quite perfect and dull.
  • Vague Age: No one knows exactly how old he is, but has been ruling for at least a hundred years.

    Auta Magetta

A Metal Man found by Cabba in the Meteor Desert.

  • Decomposite Character: The role of Icarus is divided between Cabba's pet and Magetta, with Magetta taking the role of the non-human friend.
  • Deus Exit Machina: Magetta and the members of his race are almost impossible to defeat, with their metal skin being unbreakable by everything the Saiyans throw at them during the coliseum games. Due to this, Taura teleports him under the very same Tree of Might so he won't bother her. He only returns to the story after the conflict is all over.
  • Interspecies Friendship: With Cabba. He likes the little kid ever since they met at the Meteor Desert, especially since is implied Cabba helped him complete his Rock Castle to compete in the Lad Sarced games.
  • The Juggernaut: The Metal Men metallic skin is so unbreakable and heavy they are too dangerous for the Saiyans, the only way to defeat them is to insult them. Too bad the coliseum games made them go deaf and whoever break the rocks on their ears would be disqualified. Magetta is chosen by Cabba for the Tournament against Universe 7 due to the "strongest Saiyan" (Taura) not being able to defeat a single one of them.

    Pirina

A Namekian imprisoned by the Saiyan forces due to a possible connection to the criminal Lusk.

  • Accidental Hero: Caulifla' reckless decision to fight the vine creatures despite their invincibility is a stupid decision that made Pirina go save her. Pirina' presence made Esparra go insane as he thought the Namekian was Lusk, and that anger made Esparra lose control of his body and explode inside the Tree of Might, destroying it.
  • Adaptational Badass: Pirina gains the power to grow giant like Piccolo and Lord Slug, a power he doesn't have in canon.
  • Fantastic Racism: He shares the same coin towards the Saiyans by using slurs at them. He doesn't do it with Caulifla though, since she is just a child innocent of her aunt actions.
  • Identical Stranger: He was arrested due to being confused by Lusk. He is then arrested for his countless escape attempts and destroying
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He is very annoyed and uses slurs at the Saiyans, but makes sure Caulifla is alright because "he is not a monster". Justified, as he was arrested by Taura just by looking like a Namekian he never heard about and has no good reason to be nice with the Saiyans.
  • Power Limiter: He wears a metal mask that limits his powers. In a fit of anger Esparra destroys it, which allowed Pirina to turn into a giant and escape from the insane Saiyan and the monsters with him.
  • Whatever Happened to the Mouse?: He survives the event of the story, but we never see how and he Caulifla say farewell to each other.

    Lusk

An infamous space pirate that has been in conflict with the Frost empire for decades.

  • Expy: He is based on Lord Slug.
  • The Ghost: He never appears in the story, with him only being described as being arrested off-screen and then consumed by the Tree of Might.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: His attack on Planet Nectar left Taura and Esparra as war orphans, and Taura xenophobia against Namekians comes from him. Yet, he doesn't even appear in the story. Still, he worked for Frost.
  • Space Pirate: A prominent leader of the Space Pirates, and the one responsible for the Saiyan twins origin story.
  • Theme Naming: A Namekian named Lusk, from molusk.

The Crusher Corps

    General tropes
A new chapter for the history of the planet is being written right before you. Saiyans, tainted by being pawns in a never-ending conflict brought by Frost and pirates like Lusk, can never clean themselves of their crimes, passing them to the new generation such as you. As such, I found a solution: to transform them into something else.

A revolutionary group created by Taura after obtaining the fruit of the Tree of Might. Its mission is to create an army of vine creatures to end all the wars. The team is formed by Taura, a mysterious woman named Camelo and an old ally of Taura named Evaprimolca.

  • No Name Given: They have no official name for their group. Lord Sadala calls them Crusher Corps after the conflict is over, and nobody seems to take the name seriously.
  • Utopia Justifies the Means: Taura's justification. She thinks she will create a new world rid of the Space Pirates and the sins of wars committed by the Saiyans by turning them all into the mindless but loyal Vine Creatures.

    Taura
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/59898669_296295141300882_8472376170262822912_n.png
I know what it feels to know a secret that no one would believe, either out of incredulity or convenience. I know it well.
I guess the new generation of Saiyans isn't worth the time.
Artwork by Lunatico.

A war hero and a champion of the Lad Sarced coliseum, Taura appeared one day with a spiky fruit after the mysterious disappearance of Planet Yardrat.

  • The Ace: A member of the Sadala Elite since she was nine years old, eight times champion of the coliseum games, and she helped defeat a terrible beast known as the Phototauros which had the size of a planet and fought alongside Frost in many wars. However...
  • Alternate Self: Of Turles.
  • Big Bad: She is the main antagonist of The Saiyan and the Devil's fruit.
  • Blood Knight: She is a Saiyan and loves to fight. As a Noble Demon, she even makes Camelo heal Kora and Cabba just to defeat them at full strength and succeed.
  • Brother–Sister Team: Alongside Esparra, they were a famous twin duo in the universe.
  • Bond Villain Stupidity: Downplayed, but is still there.
  • Composite Character: While Taura is meant to be Turles' counterpart, she can be considered an amalgam of many Saiyans in Dragon Ball.
    • She is a member of the Saiyan Elite who is proud of her strength (Vegeta) who is an aunt to one of the main characters (Raditz), is a Well-Intentioned Extremist in her universal goal (Goku Black) inspired by the countless years fighting in a war and the death of her comrades and brother (Bardock) and makes a Deal with the Devil (Vegeta, again) to obtain more power and have her army of plant monsters (Nappa). She also uses ring techniques similar to Gotenks, and is a twin like the Saiyan in red.
    • Word of God states that the idea of Taura having a twin sibling, and reviving him with the Tree of Might is taken from Turles minions, Rezun and Rakasei who Turles revived from fossils.
  • Child Soldiers: She was a victim of Lusk's attack on planet Nectar forty years ago, ending up as an orphan at a young age. Due to her innate talent as a survivor, she was allowed to be a soldier at only nine years old.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Averted. Taura is not based on any vegetable, making her an odd exception to the rule. She is based on one of Turles translated names, however, Taurus. Taura is a nickname taken from the Phototauros, her real name is Chuga, from the Spanish word for lettuce, lechuga.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She unleashed the Tree of Might not only to create her own army of plant monsters, but to revive her brother.
  • Evil Counterpart: She is one to both Cabba and Caulifla, with the latter being a Fandom Nod to she being Goku's counterpart.
    • With Cabba, both grew inspired by Frost' actions, joined the coliseum games at a young age thanks to nepotism and have suffered through the tragedy of war, losing loved ones. Through her actions, she even turns Cabba into a survivor of a terrorist attack just like her, which in turn led him to become into a member of the Elite.
    • With Caulifla, both are powerful Saiyan women who both love their brothers. However, Caulifla is proud of her Saiyan heritage and wouldn't even hurt her family while Taura wants to become into something else, even sacrificing her family members to obtain that goal.
  • Fair-Play Villain: This is one of her attributes. She is the kind of fighter that allows her opponent to have the same opportunities as her, just to crush them further. She allows Kora to eat the fruit of the Tree, and kills her in the spot. She offers Cabba the same opportunity, but he refuses to eat it.
  • Fantastic Racism: She doesn't like Namekians at all and is quite hostile to them, considering them a race of murderers just for belonging to the same kin as Lusk. Not surprising, Pirina considers her a witch.
  • Faux Affably Evil: In chapter 11. After Cabba discovers she unleashed the Tree of Might on the coliseum which killed countless, she remains soft and calm, and even tries to make Cabba join her side as she too knows what is like to live with a secret that no one would believe, and offers him a fruit to help save Kora. Chapter 14 would later reveal this is but a test to check if Cabba is noble of heart, meaning her attitude is just a lie.
  • Freudian Excuse: The decades working with Frost against the Space Pirates and the death of her comrades and brother made her believe that Saiyans are tainted in an eternal conflict they could never be free unless they were transformed into something else.
  • Gender Flip: She is Turles Distaff Counterpart, the same way Kale is this to the original Broly.
  • Generation Xerox: A known prodigy that was famous for her sibling team up mirrors Caulifla's future relationship with Kale.
  • Good Counterpart: As absurd as it sounds, she is this to Turles. Like Turles, she uses the Tree of Might in order to grow even stronger, but Turles is a Space Pirate with no pretense of being a good guy and no empathy for anyone but himself. Taura, on the other hand, is a war hero that believes she is doing the right thing, that feels she must sacrifice everyone, her family included to that end ( and even then, her selfish desire is to revive her twin brother before her goal is finished). In other words, Turles is a monster that obtained power, while Taura was seduced by power and became something worse than the pirates she detests.
  • The Paragon Always Rebels: Taura is a war hero and the champion of the Lad Sarced Coliseum, with many people including Caulifla admiring her. Then she met a lady with a spiky fruit, unleashing the events of the story.
  • Villain Respect: She has genuine respect on Cabba due to their similar backgrounds regarding the Lad Sarced games, but she only sees him as a means to an end.
  • We Can Rule Together: Tempts Cabba with the fruit of the Tree of Might, and asks him to join her to no longer be pawns in the pointless conflict of the war with the Space Pirates. Cabba refuses. Is later revealed this is just an Invoked Trope just to see if Cabba is pure of heart.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Taura is someone that is looking for the perfect revolution, where everyone including her will be equal. Her plan is to turn Saiyans into something new entirely, so the sins of the war can be cleaned, as the Vine Monsters follow a single will, with no distinction between combatants and non-combatants and the power to regenerate from any single injury.
  • Would Hurt a Child: She has no problem hurting Cabba, who is 13 years old.

    Evaprimolca

A mechanical tiger from planet Ikonda working with Taura.

  • Affectionate Nickname: He is called "Eva" by his closest allies.
  • Attack Reflector: He has the power to reflect the danger done by him to his opponent, appropriately named the Mirror Force. When Frost tries fighting with him, Frost destroyed a leg and an eye of the tiger, which crippled the emperor while Evaprimolca didn't feel anything. Thanks to this and the help of the Vine Monsters, he manages to capture Frost.
  • Badass Boast: During his duel with Frost after the emperor attacked him and had his attack reflected.
Evaprimolca: I'm named Evaprimolca. I don't feel pain, but everything that you do to me will be felt by you. Surrender.
  • Composite Character: He is a combination of Turles minions. Specifically, he is Cacao (the mechanical fighter) with Daiz background (a ruler of a kingdom). Planet Ikonda likewise is combined between the home planet of Cacao with Daiz's kingdom.
  • Expy: The author notes confirm he is based on Blade Wolf from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: He has red eyes, and they shine brighter when in combat.
  • Panthera Awesome: A mechanical tiger that was formerly the king of a robotic kingdom.
  • The Stoic: Barely emotes due to being a robot. He has no mouth anyway.
  • Shout-Out: Evaprimolca is the name of a company that makes sauces in Venezuela.
  • Outside-Context Problem: He isn't foreshadowed at all to appear. The author likewise made him a mechanical tiger instead of a humanoid character to make him more unique.
  • Weak, but Skilled: He is described as really weak, with the need to run away of Frost and Cress in order to avoid meaningful damage, but thanks to the Mirror Force he can cripple any opponent.

    Camelo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/esto_esta_listo.png
I'm like you, a mask of royalty.
Artwork by Lunatico.

In the book of creation, there are two absolute truths: life began when the supreme king planted the first tree, and that there were two kinds of fruit. The fruit of creation and knowledge, and the fruit of power and might.

A mysterious woman found on Planet Cinnam after the disappearance of Planet Yardrat.

  • Assimilation Plot: She claims that all of Sadala will become part of her thanks to the Tree of Might. In truth, she is absorbing the energy to open a portal to return to the Demon Realm.
As such, I thank you from the depths of my soul to all of you. Soon, this planet will cease to be, and all of you shall become part of me.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: She obtains everything she wanted by the end of the story. She obtained enough kili to open a portal to the demon realm, and manages to escape without suffering consequences.
  • The Dreaded Her presence is sensed as disturbing by Kora and Cabba inside the Tree of Might (which is filled by countless energies, with the narration comparing her to an ant-eater in an ant-hill), and after torturing Cabba, he is terrified of ever being close to her again.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Her name is taken from the Spanish word for candy, caramelo.
  • Expy: The character notes compare her to characters from Darkstalkers. She is very clearly a combination of Morrigan Aensland with Jedah Dohma.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Her eyes are described as always closed.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: All the events of Sadala Chronicles happened because she gave Taura information about the fruit of the Tree of Might. She may appear to serve Taura as her maid, but she is the true mastermind behind everything, even escaping death.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: She first appears alongside Taura in chapter 4 and is mentioned by Taura in chapter 1, yet she doesn't have a proper role until chapter 14.
  • Hot Witch: As the official artwork by Lunatico shows, she is quite an attractive witch, and wicked to the core.
  • Shapeshifting Seducer: She is very flirty with both Cabba and Taura, calling Cabba "sugar lump" and Taura "beloved", and has the power to shapeshift.
  • Superpower Lottery: Camelo has a varied set of powers.
    • Healing Hands: She can heal wounds with a snap of her fingers. She heals Kora and Cabba at the request of Taura for a worthy fight.
    • Green Thumb: She has the power to control the vines that come from the Tree of Might and its spawns, likewise she can know where the fruits are, as she spies Cabba giving the fruit to its dinosaur to save it from disease.
    • Gender Bender: She shapeshifts in the form of the male Doctor Yarrow to trick the Saiyans, including the revived Esparra.
    • Intangible Man: She can make her whole self intangible, which she uses to avoid Kora's charged attack and to survive Esparra's explosion inside the Tree of Might.
    • Me's a Crowd: She can multiply herself, with two versions of her sucking Cabba's blood.
    • Telepathy: She can communicate with people mentally, speaking with them inside the Tree of Might.
  • Walking Spoiler: She spoils quite a lot of the story.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Her hair is described as white, and she is clearly evil.
  • Would Hurt a Child: By the time they meet, Cabba is just pre-teen, yet Camelo tortures him and suck his blood in order to take a taste of his pure heart.

    Esparra

The twin brother of Taura, and the father of Renso and Caulifla. He was a champion of the Lad Sarced Coliseum. He died twelve years previous to the story on a distant and nameless planet.

  • The Ace: Alongside her sister, he was considered among the greatest Saiyans to have ever lived due to his feats during the war and by defeating the Phototaurus ten years before Taura. However, after his death, he was forgotten either by respect or indifference by the people.
  • Back from the Dead: Thanks to Cabba's pure-hearted blood and the Tree of Might, he is revived from the diamond made out of his ashes. However, due to being cremated alongside the Phototauros, he was fused on a cellular level with the beast and ends up dying again, destroying the tree from the inside.
  • Brother–Sister Team: Alongside Taura, they were a famous twin duo in the universe.
  • Camp Straight: He wore a pink armor and was into gardening, and Taura describes him as liking "feminine crap". Yet, he is also described as a womanizer, and was the father of two.
  • Child Soldiers: He was a victim of Lusk's attack on planet Nectar forty years ago, ending up as an orphan at a young age. Due to his innate talent as a survivor, he was allowed to be a soldier at only nine years old.
  • Clipped-Wing Angel: Fusing with the Phototauros made Esparra a terrifying beast in power, with his energy being powerful enough to strangle people without touching them, and he gains an unconscious control of the vine monsters. Yet, his body can't handle the evergrowing body of the beast, so much he ends up dying of a heart attack before exploding alongside the Tree of Might.
  • Composite Character: Esparra is a combination of some characters, all who go into Walking Spoiler territory. As an innocent individual associated with pink who is revived by the Big Bad, he is clearly inspired by Majin Buu. However, his evil aura that appears to have a mind of its own and savage demeanor when going insane is taken from Cumber, but the Clipped-Wing Angel element of his revival being imperfect is taken from Bio-Broly.
  • Edible Theme Naming: He is named after the Spanish word for asparagus, esparrago. Likewise, is a Punny Name on Sparta.
  • Fantastic Racism: Just like her sister, he is openly racist to Namekians due to the space pirate Lusk.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Due to being cremated alongside the Phototauros and then revived, he fused with the beast on a cellular level. This is a painful experience as his body can't contain the ever-growing body of the beast, rapidly dying of a heart attack before exploding.
  • The Not-Love Interest: Taura went to great lengths to revive him, and she screams she doesn't want to be alone anymore when he dies again. Yet, he was her brother, and Taura has a relationship with Camelo.
  • Mythology Gag: Before her name was revealed, Kale's name was thought to be Caulifla as a reference to cauliflower. The fact Esparra shares vegetable pun with Paragus is a In-Joke.
  • Posthumous Character: He was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a nameless planet twelve years ago.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: When he was alive, he used to wear a pink uniform. When he is revived, Taura gives him Kora's pink armor.
  • Tragic Monster: Other than his racism, Esparra was a decent fellow beloved by his friends, to the point Taura risks everything to bring him back, but he returned fused with the Phototauros, making him a monster of a vile presence and dying very quickly due to a heart attack. His death is presented as pathetic, with him begging his sister to help him while on her arms.

Tournament of Destroyers

    Champa
The God of Destruction of Universe 6.
  • Butt-Monkey: While not as pronounced as in canon, Champa is portrayed and described as a loser who makes bad decisions. He selected Botamo for the tournament, but Vados had to choose someone else or otherwise, he would ask for Dr Rota to join too.
  • Destroyer Deity: The God of Destruction, but one that looks very harmless in Cabba's opinion.

    Vados
The assistant of Champa. She personally selects the participants of Universe 6.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Described as beautiful, with a member of Cabba's squad flirting with her. Vados turns him into a pig in response.
  • Uncanny Valley Girl: In Cabba's opinion, since she resembles Camelo and terrifies him until they further know each other. The fact she doesn't emanate ki scares him deeply.

    Hit

Look for the folder in The Time Hitman

    Botamo
A champion of Universe 6 selected by Champa, with the ability to send any damage he receives to a different dimension.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Champa calls him Win-nnie.
  • Out of Focus: He is the only Universe 6 fighter to not get an expanded role from his original arc, at most giving Cabba someone to talk to.

    Piccolo
A Namekian from Universe 7. Unlike the main continuity, he is the first opponent to fight in the Tournament of Destroyers.
  • Adaptational Expansion: Downplayed, he takes Goku's place as Botamo's opponent, and then is taken out by Frost. The author says this is based on his role in the Universe 6 adaptation of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
  • Me's a Crowd: He charges his Special Beam Cannon at Frost while multiple of his clones fight directly with the emperor. Frost still takes them all out due to the vast difference in power.

    Vegeta IV

This pain, don't you ever forget it.

A Saiyan from Universe 7. The fourth member of his family with the name Vegeta, he comes from a universe where Saiyans were conquerors.

  • Adaptational Expansion: A rather minor example, but in canon, he only tells Cabba that the Saiyans invaded another planet and named it Vegeta. In the fic, he describes his ancestors taking it, and introducing himself as Vegeta the fourth.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Zigzagged. He plays the same role as his canon counterpart in Sadala Chronicles, but he is directly more brutal about it, with him repeatedly kicking Cabba enough to break his spine. After knocking him down, however, he gives him a senzu bean.
  • Demoted to Extra: From the co-protagonist of Super to the main antagonist of Cabba's story during the epilogue.
  • Motivational Lie: He lies to Cabba that he will destroy Planet Sadala and kill his family to motivate him to turn Super Saiyan. He is more brutal about it, though.

    Son Goku

A Saiyan from Universe 7.

  • Demoted to Extra: Not only his protagonistic role is taken over by Cabba, with Goku only appearing during the epilogue, but his role fighting Botamo is taken by Piccolo since the author hates Goku's role in the original Universe 6 saga.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Goku's fight with Hit taught Cabba that there are stronger people than Vegeta in the universe, which motivates him to grow stronger.
Hit: We aren't pawns in anyone's game. That's what Son Goku told me. Maybe these words would be useful to you.

The Time Hitman

    Hit

Time is a realm that only a few people can alter on their own. If fate ever chooses you to learn it, then ask me again.

An infamous time-master hitman hired by Vados for the Tournament of Destroyers. In The Time Hitman, he is hired by a mysterious client to kill the leaders of the space pirates on Planet Cinnam.

  • Adaptational Personality Change: The source material version of Hit is The Stoic and completely serious, with no comedic traits to his character. In The Saiyan and the Devil's fruit", he is a heavy sleeper who uses his time powers for mundane situations to return to sleep. By the The Time Hitman'', he returns to his established characterization.
  • Big Bad: Hit is the main antagonist of The Time Hitman, as he is killing the members of the space pirates for mysterious clients. [[Subverted however, as Oren and Manza take the spot.]]
  • Demoted to Extra: In the Universe 6 saga Hit is the Final Boss and rival to Goku, but in The Saiyan and Devil's fruit his fight with Goku isn't adapted. He however becomes the Big Bad in The Time Hitman.
  • Heavy Sleeper: He is portrayed as constantly sleeping through the tournament, only waking up to finish his exam and to stop Frost from messing with Lord Champa's cube.
  • I Let You Win: While the fight against Cabba-Oren was tought, Hit held back. He gave Cabba his power as a test, to see if he was worth the trouble. He is, but by that point Cabba wished for the power to be taken from him.
  • MacGuffin Super-Person: Everyone in The Time Hitman wants to find him. Cabba wishes to learn the Time Skip from him, Oren wants to steal his power, and Barra wants to arrest him.
  • Mundane Utility: He uses his time-skip ability to finish his exam quickly before returning to sleep.
  • Time Master: Hit can skip through time for less than a second and kill his targets without difficulty. The Galactic Patrol has been trying to capture him for centuries due to this. Cabba experiences what it feels like to be inside Hit's time cage, and one quarter of a second felt like a whole minute.

    Barra

An armored member of the Galactic Patrol Elite looking to arrest Hit, and hired Cabba to back him up in this endeavor.

  • Ascended Extra: Barra first appeared in the Saiyan and the Devil's fruit as one of the many patrollers helping the Saiyans after the Tree of Might is destroyed.
  • Badass Normal: He has no ki powers, nor anything of the sort. He only has a very powerful bio-armor created by him. He survives a battle with a Golden Giant Ape, and with the help of Rasley, cuts the tail to bring Cabba back to normal.
  • Canon Character All Along: Despite most of the fic treating him as a new character, it's later revealed he is a interpretation of Kamin, from Dragon Ball Heroes.
  • Race Lift: Kamin is a Tsufurian in the source material, while in the fic she was an Earthling adopted by the Tsufurians.
  • Samus Is a Girl: Originally, Barra was Kamin, a female Earthling scientist and last survivor of the destruction of planet Earth. However, after being wrongly arrested by the Saiyans, she took the new identity of Barra. She asks Cabba at the very end to keep refering him as such.
