"Oh Floyd, what am I gonna do?"
Played By: Eddie Murphy
A shy man, cowardly and insecure, but kind-hearted. Abandoned as a baby in an orphanage, he fell in love with Kate as a child, but after she was adopted, Norbit was forced to be Rasputia's boyfriend, a monstrous woman who turns his life into hell.
  • Amusing Injuries:That is the only way to explain how Norbit can still be alive even though he is crushed by Rasputia every night.
  • Awful Wedded Life: Norbit and his life with Rasputia is a nightmare. The original script reveals that Norbit was born in 1968 and that the present plot is situated in 2005. Considering that Norbit was 10 years old when he met Rasputia, this means that the couple stayed together for at least 25 years.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: After Kate was adopted, Norbit prayed and wished for a girlfriend and a family. He got ... Rasputia.
  • Beleaguered Assistant: Norbit when he works for Rasputia's brothers.
  • Butt-Monkey: Norbit, pretty much throughout his life.
  • Childhood Friend Romance:
    • Averted with Norbit and Rasputia. The two met in childhood, but the "romance" definitely came only from her, and nothing from him.
    • Norbit and Kate, who beat the odds and get married at the end of the film.
  • Chubby Chaser: Averted. Rasputia desperately tries to convince Kate that Norbit is one. He is not. At all.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Just in case anything happened to the letter, Norbit got in contact with Deion's ex-wives to reveal everything at his and Kate's wedding.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Poor Norbit goes through a lot. But in the end, he is finally free of Rasputia's hold on him and can marry his true sweetheart Kate.
  • Expy: Norbit shares some similarities with Jiff Ramsey and Sherman Klump, two other Black and Nerdy Eddie Murphy characters.
  • Extreme Doormat: Norbit until the end when he is willing to make a stand in front of the entire town and publicly call out Rasputia.
  • Henpecked Husband: Guess who?
  • Hilariously Abusive Childhood: Mr. Wong had Norbit play in MSG/with severed duck heads as a kid and had him carry around a cardboard whale to use as target practice. And that is before Norbit met Rasputia.
  • Hot Guy, Ugly Wife: Mild example. Norbit may be a skinny, dorky-looking fellow, but his wife, Rasputia, is a hideous, morbidly obese behemoth by comparison.
  • Love Triangle: A love triangle with four people, in fact. Norbit is in love with Kate, who disappears from her life after being adopted. So he is forced to marry Rasputia, although he feels nothing for her. Then Kate returns to town ... but now she's engaged to Deion, who is only interested in her money.
  • Marital Rape License: Rare wife-on-husband example. Rasputia forces Norbit to have (extremely painful due to her weight) sex with her every night, much to Norbit's visible fear and disgust.
  • Meaningful Echo: When they were children at the orphanage, Norbit and Kate have a pretend wedding under a tree with ring pops. Later, at the end when they're both adults, they get married for real under that same tree and with ring pops. Cue tears of heartwarming.
  • Men Are Better Than Women: Norbit is more wiser and reasonable than his ex-wife Rasputia.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Norbit's face screams this at his marriage, with him realizing that he will spend the rest of his life with Rasputia.
    • Norbit again on their honeymoon when Rasputia enters the room wearing a lingerie ...
  • Parental Abandonment: Norbit's parents dropped him off at the orphanage by throwing him out of the car.....without stopping it or even slowing down.....and laughing as they drove away. Geez even in childhood, the poor guy never caught a break.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Norbit gets a great one when he confesses to Kate his love for her and Rasputia immediately enters and demands to know what he said.
Norbit: You heard me, strumpet! I love Kate, not you! And the last two weeks we've spent together have meant more to me than my entire miserable life with you, Rasputia! It's over! Norbit Albert Rice is no longer your bitch!
  • Running Gag: Norbit quietly calling Rasputia a bitch. Pretending he is shouting it to her.
  • Sex Montage: Norbit and Rasputia are shown having sex several times, including during special occasions (Christmas, the Fourth of July, etc.). Of course, given her massive weight, most of the montage scenes basically involve her body-slamming Norbit in bed and him squeaking out greetings in comical despair.
  • Sympathetic Adulterer: Rasputia is such a horrible human being that everyone in town is happy to help Norbit stay with Kate. That and the fact that Rasputia betrayed Norbit first, without any regrets.
  • This Is Gonna Suck:
    • Norbit's expression as Rasputia enters the room on the honeymoon, wearing a lingerie.
    • Also, Norbit when he gets home from his date with Kate, and Big Black Jack cannot even hold back a laugh when he tells him, "I'd hate to be you now,"... because a very angry Rasputia is waiting inside their house after having caught Norbit cheating on her. Later, after Rasputia flees when Mr. Wong harpoons her, Jack quietly mumbles, "We dead." as the town rallies to chase them out.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Rasputia is enormously overweight, compared to the very skinny Norbit.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Norbit and Kate at the end of the film.
  • Unwitting Pawn: The Latimores use Norbit to get Kate to sign off on the liquor license for the orphanage. Norbit doesn’t realize this until it’s too late.
  • What Does She See in Him?: Or in that case, what he sees in her. That's for sure what goes on in Kate's mind when she meets Norbit's wife, and it only gets worse over the course of the movie as she learns more about Rasputia's nasty personality. It is only at the end of the movie that she finally finds out why: Rasputia would try to kill Norbit if he separated from her.

    Rasputia

"I don't weigh no damn 300 lbs. I weigh 165! How YOU doin'?"
Played By: Eddie Murphy
An obese woman who has a cruel and sadistic personality, but also is clearly full of insecurities that make her physically, psychologically and sexually abuse her husband Norbit.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Rasputia becomes this to Norbit. As children at the orphanage, the burly, bigger Rasputia saves Norbit from bullies but demands his affections in return. Norbit has no attraction to Rasputia, either by her looks or her personality, but he accepts to be her boyfriend because she is the only person who protects him and also because he is afraid of her. Decades later, they've married, though she takes him for granted and even cheats on him which breaks his heart. In spite of her own infidelity, the morbidly obese Rasputia demands that he have eyes for no one but her, which the long-suffering Norbit patiently does for many years, despite her constant abuse.
  • Acrofatic: Subverted. Rasputia is extraordinarily strong, but when she chases Norbit through the city streets, she quickly tires and gives up the chase. There's a difference between strength and endurance after all.
  • The Baby Trap: Rasputia uses this on Norbit when he is about to leave her. But we all know that it's a lie. She even forgets about it shortly after and says it was just gas.
  • Bad Boss: Despite being younger than her three brothers, she is ultimately their leader as they follow her commands, as well as Big Black Jack carrying out his sister's plan to take over the orphanage.
  • Bad Liar: Rasputia is very clearly lying about being pregnant... especially when she claims a telltale sign is that she's getting "a little belly".
  • Beneath the Mask: Rasputia puts on a highly confident, abrasive front, but the minute she feels she is losing control of Norbit, she loses her mind. Her favorite song seems to be “Don’t Cha”, which she sings in a much more demented fashion when she drives to go catch Norbit cheating on her; she immediately begins bragging to Kate how she apparently can’t keep Norbit off of her; and in general loses any composure when Norbit insults her in front of the whole town. A highly telling scene is towards the beginning when Norbit tries to leave her for cruelly running over his dog - Rasputia isn't even furious or ranting at him, but she's utterly distraught and begging him to not go and lies that she's pregnant. It very much appears that Rasputia actually has poor self-image and boosts it by constantly abusing and controlling Norbit.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Rasputia doesn't like it when Norbit doesn't do what she says and loses it when he stands up for himself.
    • Do NOT mention Rasputia’s weight to her if you know what’s good for you... unless you find it attractive, then she won’t mind jokes about her size.
  • Betty and Veronica: Norbit is Archie, Kate is Betty, and Rasputia is Veronica.
  • Big Bad: Rasputia. Amusingly, she may also qualify as The Heavy since she is the biggest (no pun intended) threat to Norbit, while Jack is the leader of the brothers (whose main power comes from the town’s fear of Rasputia).
  • Big Eater: One doesn't grow to be Rasputia's size without being this. Amusingly, as a child, she was delegated to eating only the wing of the turkey by her oldest brother. Norbit mentions she was banned for life from the local diner for eating all the food at some point.
  • Catchphrase: Rasputia has one: "How YOU doin'?"
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Averted with Norbit and Rasputia. The two met in childhood, but the "romance" definitely came only from her, and nothing from him.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Rasputia immediately suspects that Norbit and Kate are having an affair when she meets her (which doesn't happen until much later in the movie), and does everything to make it clear to Kate that he won't let her get close to her husband. She also makes it clear to Norbit that she doesn't want to see him with her. The great irony is that Rasputia cheats on Norbit with another man.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Rasputia is more than a little crazy.
  • The Dreaded: Rasputia is feared and reviled by the entire town, and even her brothers are afraid of her. When she’s defeated, the townspeople immediately chase her brothers out as well.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • It's implied she does know what she did was wrong on paper by cheating on Norbit, as she vehemently swears it didn't happen when Norbit confronts her about it.
    • Played for Laughs later. Rasputia is an abusive, violent woman, but she scolds herself when she swears in church. Then she swears at herself for swearing... which causes her to swear... which causes her to swear again...
  • Evil Is Hammy: Especially she's portrayed by Eddie Murphy and her over-the-top attitude makes her Laughably Evil.
  • Evil Laugh: Rasputia did one after she maimed Lloyd and another one during Kate and Deion's wedding when Norbit initially failed to expose Deion's unscrupulousness.
  • Fan Disservice: Many, many scenes with Rasputia wearing short clothes, bikinis, lingerie or even naked, to the horror of Norbit, Kate and everyone around her. Of course, viewers who are Chubby Chaser's may enjoy scenes with Rasputia. That said, her poor hygiene, ugly face, and unflattering clothes and hairdos still make her largely unpleasant to look at even for people more receptive to her size.
  • Fat Bitch: Rasputia starts out as a domineering, abrasive child, and grows up to be a bitter, vindictive and petty woman.
  • Fat Comic Relief: Rasputia is a walking example of this trope, with countless jokes at the expense of her obesity. Though the movie can never decide on what her actual weight is thanks to her weight being Played for Laughs: she does not break the water slide she rides which has a 300 lb weight limit, but not only appears much bigger than that, but frequently seems like she weighs about 300 lbs more than that given her interactions with the world.
  • Fat Idiot: Despite being rather cunning in her own right, Rasputia often displays a lower-than-average level of intelligence. When she gains weight and can’t fit in her car, Norbit lies and suggests the car shrunk, which Rasputia agrees to since they’ve had a lot of rain lately.
  • Fat Slob: She displays poor hygiene and is a rather messy eater, which doesn't help considering she's a glutton who takes in a lot of food in a sitting.
  • Hated by All: Everyone strongly dislikes and fears Rasputia.
  • The Heavy: While Big Black Jack is the default leader of the Lattimores, Rasputia is the main, personal threat to Norbit and the main antagonist of the movie.
  • Hot Guy, Ugly Wife: Mild example. Norbit may be a skinny, dorky-looking fellow, but his wife, Rasputia, is a hideous, morbidly obese behemoth by comparison.
  • Hypocrite: Rasputia - she cheats on Norbit and gaslights him when he confronts her about it, but acts very controlling and threatening as soon as Kate enters the picture.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Non-fatal example. Wong throws a harpoon that stabs right into Rasputia’s ass.
  • Implied Death Threat: After finding him on his date with Kate, Rasputia threatens violence against her should Norbit ever see her again by way of pouring acid on a potato doll of Kate.
  • Jerkass: Guess who?
  • Kick the Dog:
    • Rasputia runs over Lloyd with her car, breaking his legs, for eyeballing her.
    • She even threatens to kill some kids and doesn't care if it is in public.
    • When Kate is distraught after being told that Norbit played her to get her to sign the papers of the orphanage, she cries and tells him and Rasputia to leave her alone. Rasputia mocks her cries and laughs as she leaves.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Rasputia was not informed by her brothers of Norbit spending more and more time with Kate, and was especially not told about their date in which Norbit was tasked with getting the papers signed. Earl is terrified when Rasputia scares the truth out of him.
  • Love Triangle: A love triangle with four people, in fact. Norbit is in love with Kate, who disappears from her life after being adopted. So he is forced to marry Rasputia, although he feels nothing for her. Then Kate returns to town ... but now she's married to Deion, who is only interested in her money.
  • Manipulative Bitch: Rasputia manipulates Norbit into following her commands.
  • Marital Rape License: Rare wife-on-husband example. Rasputia forces Norbit to have (extremely painful due to her weight) sex with her every night, much to Norbit's visible fear and disgust.
  • Moral Myopia: Rasputia is so delusional that she feels she has done no wrong by cheating on Norbit. If Norbit cheats on her, though? There’s hell to pay.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Viewers who are Chubby Chaser's may enjoy scenes with Rasputia, particularly in the water park sequence when she spends the entire time in a revealing bikini (and the makeup and special effects portray her obesity pretty convincingly).
  • Never My Fault: Nothing is Rasputia's fault, according to her. Her status as a rampant Villainous Glutton and her obesity is clearly to blame for her not fitting in her own car, but she blames it on Norbit for supposedly adjusting her seat. Norbit suggests that the car shrinking... and Rasputia agrees, since it’s been raining a lot lately.
  • Noodle Incident: Norbit mentions that Rasputia was banned for life from the Italian diner for eating all the food at a buffet the owner hosted one night.
  • One-Man Army: She battles her way through the crowd of townsfolk at the end of the movie.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Rasputia actually does seem to be getting along with Kate for a bit at the waterpark. It’s the most pleasant she seems to be the entire film. She ultimately ruins it since she does begin to project her insecurity around Kate by loudly bragging about having sex with Norbit and mocking Kate for being skinny.
    • For all of her despicable actions later in life (and despite her abrasive, domineering tendencies already appearing at an early age), she did defend Norbit from other bullies and persuaded her older brothers to take him in as a child, mixed blessing though the latter may be.
  • Psychological Projection: When Norbit tries to leave her, she begins screaming that he's nothing without her, when the same can be said for her. She's hated by everybody in town, even her brothers, and no man really wants her, with Norbit just being her stooge.
  • Psychopathic Womanchild: Rasputia shows shades of this, as when she is told “no”, she throws violent tantrums and screams like a kid having a meltdown. Her use of a potato doll for her threat on Kate’s life is also rather demented.
  • Running Gag: Rasputia having sex with Norbit, jumping on him and breaking the bed, and crushing her husband in the process.
  • Sassy Black Woman: She definitely has the mannerisms of one; and a very aggressive one at that.
  • Seven Deadly Sins:
    • Gluttony - pretty obvious given her weight. Her regular order at the pimps’s rib shack is huge and she was banned for life for eating too much at a buffet event at the Italian restaurant.
    • Sloth - A bit downplayed since she’s shown to actively work at her family’s construction company, but if it’s her day off she is too lazy to get up from the couch unless she’s getting food.
    • Envy - She is strongly implied to be jealous of any woman who looks better than her, going off her criticizing Kate for her thin figure at the water park.
    • Lust - She frequently forces Norbit to have sex with her and even cheats on him to satisfy herself.
    • Wrath - When she loses control of Norbit she goes on two violent rampages to take revenge on him.
    • Greed - She goes along with the plan to take over the orphanage to partake in the money it will bring in.
    • Pride - Ultimately subverted, since as Beneath the Mask indicates above, Rasputia seems to suffer from numerous insecurities about herself and her appearance, hence why she puts up such a boastful, arrogant front.
  • Spanner in the Works: As she wasn't told by her brothers about Norbit being sent to charm Kate into signing the orphanage papers, Rasputia goes into a wild frenzy and actually could have ruined the plan. Thankfully for the brothers, Norbit already got Kate to sign.
  • Stout Strength: Rasputia is obese and can barely run, but she is a physical powerhouse in terms of brute strength, capable of lifting grown people and throwing them like basketballs.
  • This Cannot Be!: Rasputia is so vain and self-centered that she cannot process the idea that she’s not the most desirable woman alive. She loses her mind when Norbit doesn’t do what she says, and has a complete mental breakdown when she learns he is cheating on her.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Rasputia is enormously overweight, compared to the very skinny Norbit.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Downplayed, but while she did coerce Norbit into becoming her boyfriend and insulted him for his name as a child, she defended him from other schoolyard bullies and convinced her brothers to informally adopt him as another member of the family, having him over for dinner, which Norbit genuinely appeared to appreciate as a child before it wore thin on him as an adult.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Rasputia has proven to be a total tank that not even a crowd of people can stop her. What finally does? A spear thrown into her butt by Mr. Wong, which sends her running like a chicken.
  • What Does She See in Him??: Rasputia's feelings towards Norbit. It may be because Norbit would be the only coward enough in town to accept being ruled by her.

    Kate
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kate_59.jpg
"Norbit!"
Played By: Thandie Newton
A beautiful and lovely woman who was the great love of Norbit's life and who is the complete opposite of Rasputia.
  • Betty and Veronica: Norbit is Archie, Kate is Betty, and Rasputia is Veronica.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: With Norbit, the two of them having beat the odds and getting married at the end of the film.
  • Fourth-Date Marriage: It's lightly implied that she rushed into her engagement to Deion due to his charms, as even when they're about to be married, he surprises her with microwaved leftovers from a restaurant and she expresses surprise that he can even cook.
  • Meaningful Echo: When they were children at the orphanage, Norbit and Kate have a pretend wedding under a tree with ring pops. Later, at the end when they're both adults, they get married for real under that same tree and with ring pops. Cue tears of heartwarming.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Though literally eclipsed by the disservice of Rasputia, there are some nice scenes with her dressing well such as at the waterpark.
  • Nice Girl: Just an overall very sweet woman.
  • Only Sane Man: Or in this case, woman. In a city where Norbit, Rasputia, the Latimores, Mr. Wong, Pope Sweet Jesus and Lord Have Mercy live, Kate is clearly the only rational person who acts in horror when witnessing Norbit and Rasputia's married life.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: She is only into Deion due to believing he's a nice guy, having unfortunately fallen for his sleazy act. She ultimately ends up falling in love with Norbit due to him being a decent guy who actually cares about her.

     Mr. Wong
Played By: Eddie Murphy

  • Bully Hunter: He is the only person in town brave enough to stand up to the Latimores.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Mr. Wong is a racist, abrasive old coot, but he still loves Norbit and Kate and is a good father to them.
  • Parental Substitute: Norbit’s primary father figure as he never got adopted and left the orphanage. He also walks Kate down the aisle, clearly still a father figure to her despite her having been adopted.
  • Worthy Opponent: Mr. Wong is the only man in town that the Latimore Brothers respect and genuinely fear since he is not afraid to stand up to them with a harpoon.

    Mrs. Ling Ling Wong

    The Latimore Brothers

Applying to all:

  • The Dragon: Despite their being older and raising Rasputia, she grew up to become so terrifying that the brothers did her bidding as her henchmen.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: The brothers may fear their sister, but they still stick together to the very end of the film.
  • Karma Houdini: Yes, they lose and get chased out of town and never bother Norbit again, but they end up opening a successful strip club, which was their motive in the film, albeit they opened it in Mexico. Nevertheless, they seem well-adjusted and happy enough. Rasputia in particular seems happy to finally be admired by the men of the city after years of marriage to a man who was only repulsed by her.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: At Deion's suggestion, they recruit an unwitting Norbit to convince Kate to sign over the liquor license for Mr. Wong's restaurant on his orphanage property to the Lattimores as part of their long-term plot to acquire the land and turn it into a strip club. However, this causes Norbit and Kate to act on their mutual attraction to one another, ultimately motivating Norbit to leave Rasputia and expose their plans.
  • Pet the Dog: For all of their greedy, bullying ways toward Norbit and the other town residents (particularly treating the former as a virtual slave doing the bookkeeping at their construction company, and threatening him with potentially lethal physical abuse if he ever makes Rasputia sad, much less tries to leave her), they do treat him like a member of the family and take him in as a child due to his "relationship" with their younger sister (whom they also dote on).
  • Pragmatic Villainy: The brothers know very well to keep wind of Norbit’s date with Kate away from Rasputia, knowing their sister’s violent temper would threaten their scheme.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: The Latimores when they realize that the entire city has finally turned against them.
  • Unwitting Pawn: The Latimores use Norbit to get Kate to sign off on the liquor license for the orphanage. Norbit doesn’t realize this until it’s too late.

Applying to Black Jack

  • Big Bad: While Rasputia is The Heavy, Jack is the default leader of the family.
  • Large Ham: As only Terry Crews can play one.
  • Pet the Dog: When Norbit is a child, he treats him like a member of the family due to his closeness to Rasputia and has him over for dinner, even saving him what he considers the best part of the meal: the turkey ass ("Eat up, sucka'!").

Applying to Blue

  • Pet the Dog: Surprisingly, he initially tries to cover for Norbit when he is on a secret date with Kate, but Rasputia subtly intimidates him into disclosing Norbit's whereabouts (though this may be subverted in that the brothers were trying to use Norbit as a Honey Trap to get Kate to sign over the liquor license for Mr. Wong's restaurant over to them in their bid to take over his land).
  • The Evil Genius: Rasputia claims he is the smart one out of the brothers.
  • Uncertain Doom: When the townspeople chase the Latimores out of town, Jack is able to keep clear of the angry mob. However, Earl and Blue are caught by the crowd, and aren’t seen in the ending in Mexico, leaving it unknown if they escaped with their brother and sister.

Applying to Earl

  • The Baby of the Bunch: The youngest of the brothers.
  • Dumb Muscle: Something is off about him: he’s slower than his siblings, often only repeating after them with a slow “yeah” and blinking slowly with one eye.

Pope Sweet Jesus and Lord Have Mercy
Played By: Eddie Griffin and Katt Williams (respectively)

A pair of ex-pimps who are friends with Norbit.

  • Deadpan Snarker: Among themselves, they make no bones about the horrific appearance of Rasputia.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: When Rasputia graphically makes out with Norbit at the altar at their wedding, Pope Sweet Jesus begins frantically drinking from a flask.
  • Manly Tears: Both of them are openly weeping tears of joy when Norbit finally marries Kate.
  • Nice Guy: Both of them are loyal friends to Norbit and want to help him turn his life around.
  • Noodle Incident: They have ruined countless weddings in the past.
  • Shipper on Deck: The pair encourage Norbit to pursue his interest in Kate and help him prepare for their date. They also help stall the wedding so Norbit can crash it.

    Deion Hughes
Played By: Cuba Gooding Jr.

Kate's fiancé who has his own agenda.

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He pretends to be a wholesome, loving future husband to Kate, but it's a sleazy act that he's unfortunately successfully pulled on many other women.
  • Catchphrase: "I'm out!"
  • Derailing Love Interests: Deion turns out to be a self-centered, unfaithful jerk who is involved in a plan to turn Norbit's orphanage into a strip club, has several children with different women, and orders takeout food for a romantic dinner while pretending he cooked it himself.
  • Dirty Coward: His primary character trait is that he's a cowardly snake. Before the Latimores approach him, he immediately grows tired of handling the orphanage kids and decides to bail out before even trying to marry and plunder Kate's money. Later, after being exposed as a serial gold digger, he flees from the town and his ex-wives and children.
  • Disappeared Dad: He's had several children with his ex-wives, none of whom he cares to provide for or be a parent to.
  • Gold Digger: Deion seeks out and marries wealthy, successful women, only to divorce them and claim large settlements, and has even left his ex-wives with children they must now raise on their own.
  • Humiliation Conga: His attempted wedding with Kate goes poorly for him. First the pimps hijack it for an extended period of time with sermons, songs, and ads for their rib restaurant, which causes him to explosively lose his temper and make a child out of himself. Then his part in the Latimore conspiracy is exposed, and with it, his track record of gold-digging. If his ex-wives had any doubts of him being a scoundrel, they've now gotten proof of how they were targeted. Deion is forced to flee with his tail between his legs.
  • Incompatible Orientation: He told one of his ex-wives he realized he was gay as an excuse to divorce her.
  • Jerkass: He made a deal with Rasputia's brothers to turn Mr. Wong's orphanage into a strip club once he marries Kate.
  • Lethal Chef: Played With. He reheats some cheap takeout and pretends it's something he cooked himself for Kate, and naturally Kate later comments it tasted terrible. Her reaction to him presenting the meal at all makes plain that he doesn't really cook, period.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: It was his idea to have Norbit unwittingly sweettalk his fiancée Kate into signing over the the liquor license for Mr. Wong's restaurant/orphanage to the Latimores (and himself), knowing of their strong bond. However, his actions cause Norbit and Kate to act on their mutual attraction to one another, derailing his plans to marry her and thereby take over the orphanage land that she was inheriting to turn it into a strip club with the Lattimores.
  • Oh, Crap!: Deion has this when Norbit reveals that he invited his ex-wives to the wedding in order to expose Deion for the golddigger he is.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here!: When Deion’s true nature is publicly revealed, he concedes defeat and flees.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Deion does this when his ex-wives show up to the wedding and come after him. He even does his catchphrase.
