  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: The Teutonic Knight's Cool Plane is named The Fligentod; which writer Don Glut intended to mean 'The Flying Death'. However. 'The Flying Death' would be 'Der Fliegende Tod'. 'Fligentod' is actually 'the fly's death'.

  • Blackshirt: Was an American Bundist and Nazi sympathizer before gaining his powers.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: As with everybody on the Super-Axis, they are Nazi versions of the Justice League, with Master Man being a Superman Substitute.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Captain America, probably more-so than Red Skull, as they share similar origins, appearances, and devotion to their respective ideologies.
  • Due to the Dead: After his death, Cable buried him on the Swiss Alps.
  • Flight: The Super Serum granted Lohmer slight psionic capabilities that he could use to levitate himself and fly through the air unaided. It isn't known how long Lohmer could use this power continuously, nor is it known the maximum speed he could propel himself.

    Baron Blood

Baron Blood

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2196635_john_falsworth_01_7.jpg

Alter Ego: Lord John Falsworth

Notable Aliases: Lord Falsworth, Dr. Jacob Charles Cromwell, the "Slasher", John Falsworth Jr., the Honourable John Falsworth

First Appearance: Invaders #7 (July, 1976)

"When last we met, I was denied the rich fluid that pulses through your waiting jugular!"

John Falsworth, in his attempts to harness the power of the immortal vampire Dracula, was turned into a vampire himself and served his new master as Baron Blood. Under his master's orders, he served Adolf Hitler during World War II and frequently came into conflict with the Invaders. Despite being slain during the war, he has been revived numerous times, usually in order to battle Captain America, Union Jack or Nick Fury.

The third Baron Blood emerged in from a colorful ancestry; his mother was former Invader Spitfire, his uncle and grandfather had been Union Jack, and his great-uncle had been none other than John Falsworth, the first Baron Blood. Being a frail boy most of his life, he encouraged his friend Joseph Chapman to become the next Union Jack, but, growing jealous of his old friends success, took up the mantle as the new Baron Blood to take revenge on his great-uncle's old enemies.

  • Antagonistic Offspring: Kenneth Crichton, the third Baron Blood, became an enemy of his mother Jacqueline Falsworth/Spitfire.
  • Blue Blood: Falsworth was obsessed with racial purity, which made him right at home with the Nazis. This even extended to other vampires; Falsworth saw only pure blooded vampires (eg: descended from the first vampires) as true vampires, and all the others as pretenders needing to be eradicated.
  • Cain and Abel:
    • The first Baron Blood was the brother and enemy of the first Union Jack.
    • The second Baron Blood was Doctor Strange's brother.
    • Kenneth Crichton and his childhood friend Joseph Chapman fill this role as well. Joseph acted like an older brother to Kenneth, making him feel inadequate. He eventually became Baron Blood partially as a way to take revenge on Joseph for this, as well as out of simple jealousy.
  • Classical Movie Vampire: In many ways. He can't go out in the sunlight, drinks blood, sleeps in a coffin, and can be killed with a stake through the heart.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: During his time on the Super-Axis he served as one for Batman.
  • Evil Uncle: John Falsworth was an enemy of his niece and nephew Jacqueline and Brian.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: They look more like Bat People than classical human vampires.
  • Parental Incest: An inverted example with the third Baron Blood, Kenneth Crichton; he has an unhealthy attraction to his mother, the former Spitfire. Discovering that she too has been turned into a vampire, he gets a more than a little excited upon meeting her.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: The first Baron Blood is a racist Nazi, and wishes to exterminate all those he considers to have "dirty blood".
  • Rogues' Gallery Transplant: Served as the villain to Morbius for a time.
  • Secondary Color Nemesis: Baron Blood dresses in purple.
  • Vampire Doctor: In Captain America #253-254, a servant of Dracula, Dr. Jacob Cromwell, is sent to revive Blood, whose bones are stored in the Tower of London. Although Cromwell is successful, Blood betrays and kills him and one of his daughters, turning the other one into a vampire (who later becomes Baroness Blood). Assuming Cromwell's identity, Blood commits a series of murders that arouse the suspicions of his now very elderly brother James.

  • Green and Mean: His U-Man outfit is green and he's a supporter of the Axis Mundi.
  • Mad Scientist: He used his own genius and the Nazis' resources to augment himself so he could survive on land for extended periods of time and fight Namor toe-to-toe.
  • Piggybacking on Hitler: He sides with the Third Reich mainly just to get at Namor.
  • Super-Speed: Meranno can run and move at speeds superior to that of the finest human athlete. Meranno is also a much faster swimmer than the finest human athlete, and most Atlanteans for that matter. Whereas most Atlanteans can swim at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour, Meranno can reach speeds of 60 miles per hour.
  • Super-Strength: Meranno is superhumanly strong, though much more so than most Atlanteans. While on land and dry, Meranno can lift about 40 tons. In his native element, or if he is at least wet, he is somewhat stronger and can lift about 50 tons.

As he wrote the word "emeth" on the golem's forehead and began to pray for its animation, lightening struck Jacob's house, bringing it down upon him. In the ensuing collapse, Jacob somehow became fused with the massive golem, causing it to take on his appearance. With his new powers, Jacob rescued the Invaders, then turned down an offer to join the team, and stayed behind in Warsaw to aid the resistance. Later, Dr. Death kidnapped Johann intending to both force him to work on the Oscillotron and to force Jacob, who had since relocated to New York, to serve in his new team, Battle-Axis, to ensure John's safety.
