    Heroes

Larn

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/larn_9.jpg
Portrayed by: Randy Norton
Voiced by: William Ostrander

A young warrior and the sole survivor of a village destroyed by Nekron's glaciers, he seeks revenge against the tyrant.

  • Barbarian Hero: Downplayed in that he has the look, but so does every other male character, and is referred to in the trailer as the last of a mighty warrior tribe, but seems to be very early into his own career as a warrior in contrast to his ally Darkwolf, who clearly has a few decades of experience under his belt. The prequel comic does show that he has experience as a hunter however, with the first scene showing him out with a hunting party with the second issue as the beginning of his career as a warrior.
  • Distressed Dude: While swimming in a lake with Teegra, they are both attacked by a giant tentacled monster that nearly kills him, requiring her to save him.
  • Doomed Hometown: Larn's village was completely crushed by Nekron's icebergs.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Nekron in particular enjoys sparring with him.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: The male variant, being both blonde haired and the movie's hero.
  • The Hero: He's the primary lead of the movie even though he actually has little effect on the outcome of the story and constantly needs to be saved by Darkwolf.
  • Last of His Kind: The trailer refers to Larn as the last of a mighty warrior tribe and besides the woman who is taken as spoils of war, this very much seems to be the case after Nekron destroys the tribe in the film's first scene.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Dude is pretty buff and sculpted. The camera also lingers on his backside almost as often as Teegra's.
  • Supporting Protagonist: He is the primary lead of the movie, but ends up playing sort of a sidekick role to Darkwolf, whom ultimately emerges as the film's hero.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: He doesn't even bother covering up when going to Nekron's frozen domain.

Princess Teegra

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/teegra.jpg
Portrayed by: Cynthia Leake
Voiced by: Maggie Roswell

The Princess of Firekeep and the female heroine of the movie. She is kidnapped by Nekron's subordinates at his mother's orders to provide him with a concubine.

  • Action Girl: At the start of the movie, she is willing to fight alongside her brother against Nekron's forces and she saves Larn's life from the giant squid in the lake.
  • Adaptational Modesty: While she still wears what is essentially the ancestor of the bikini, in the prequel comic she wears over it a dress more like Juliana's.
  • Bathing Beauty: Quite deliberately so in the lake scene to escape the sub-humans that captured her.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Teegra desired to aid her family directly stand against Nekron and his invading forces at the start of the movie. She ended up aiding the heroes against him, though it took her being kidnapped, her tutor and pet panther being killed by Nekron's minions and her brother being murdered by him and his corpse left for her to see.
  • Big "NO!": She releases one upon regaining consciousness and finding her brother Taro's cadaver next to her.
  • Damsel out of Distress: Teegra gets kidnapped more than once in the entire movie and she also saves herself most of the time.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Roleil is very affectionate in a suggestive way towards her before figuring out her identity.
  • Heroic Seductress: She escapes from Nekron's minions the first time by bathing seductively in the lake, distracting them long enough so she can slink below the water and swim away.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She struts around in nothing but a micro-bikini the entire movie.
  • Parental Favoritism: The film implies and the prequel comic confirms that Jarol favors her over Taro. In the Teegra one-shot, some token resistance is enough to get her out of an arranged marriage and the responsibility passed to her brother.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: Despite living in a supposedly hot environment and being scantily-clad the whole time, her skin is very pale, especially next to Larn.
  • Rebellious Princess: Teegra resents her royal duties of lounging about her room all day and soaking up lessons from her tutor, her real dream is to go out and help her brother fight. She sorta gets her wish...
  • Sexy Surfacing Shot: While being transported by the subhumans, she dives into the middle of the lake where they are resting and emerges; the water cascading down her body, her already tiny bikini now almost transparent, and her nipples clearly visible through the cloth. She uses the distraction this causes among the subhumans to escape.
  • Screaming Woman: The girl can't be exactly blamed since in the two main instances this occurs, her beloved pet panther and her handmaiden are murdered by the sub-humans and later she wakes up next to her brother's own corpse.
  • Stripperiffic: She spends the entirety of the movie in nothing but a very skimpy bikini.
  • Thong of Shielding: She wears a very narrow and somewhat transparent thong, but it's not really a shielding thong since in most scenes a bit of her buttcrack sticks out over the top.
  • Walking Swimsuit Scene: Just look at her!!

Darkwolf

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/darkwolf.jpg
Portrayed and voiced by: Steve Sandor

  • All There in the Manual: The prequel comic identifies his axe as "the Axe that Broke Ten Thousand Shields" and his horse, a stallion, as "Thunder-Heart."
  • Ambiguous Situation: The appearance of his likeness in the ruins of a city brings up the question of just what Larn's mysterious ally is. Is he a god? The ruler of a fallen city state? A member of a tribe whose warriors just wore masks like that? A descendant of whoever the statue depicts? It is never established what Darkwolf is besides an enemy of Nekron. The prequel comic has Teegra make mention of a providential figure who watches over her people, whom Jarol views as the mysterious protector of her storybooks, a myth, a folktale to comfort the old in their hovels and frightened children in their beds and the reader may very well interpret Darkwolf as being this figure.
  • Barbarian Hero: Even more so than Larn, since he tends to be a solitary figure.
  • Barbaric Battleaxe: Carries a battleaxe and makes short work of the subhumans with it.
  • Big Good: He's the most powerful good guy around and also the one to kill the Big Bad.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Both his name and motif are dark and is one of the heroes.
  • The Hero: He ultimately emerges as the hero of the film, while Supporting Protagonist Larn becomes his sidekick.
  • Heroic Willpower: Manages to overpower Nekron's telekinesis.
  • Magic Knight: The prequel comic depicts him as having the power to heal, healing his seriously wounded horse Thunder-Heart, telling him to draw life from him and drink deep of his years.
  • Named Weapons: The comic book prequel identifies his axe as "the Axe that Broke Ten Thousand Shields."
  • Nemean Skinning: Wears a hood made from the pelt taken from the head of wolf.
  • Offing the Offspring: If Nekron is his son, Darkwolf is forced to kill him at the end.
  • One-Man Army: He takes down dozens of Nekron's Mooks without working up a sweat.
  • Physical God: Maybe. Larn briefly sees a stone carving that is the exact likeness of Darkwolf, and Darkwolf has a persistent habit of showing up at just the right time to save the other heroes, as well as escaping odds that ordinary humans would consider impossible.

    Icepeak

Nekron

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nekron.png
Portrayed by: Sean Hannon
Voiced by: Stephen Mendel

The lord of the Icepeak. He summons glaciers and icebergs over the realm with the intent of conquering everything around him.

  • Agent Peacock: An Ambiguously Gay Squishy Wizard at first glance, but a formidable Magic Knight (and still Ambiguously Gay) in a straight up fight.
  • Ambiguously Gay: He is disgusted with the thought of mating with Teegra (who is an extremely attractive woman) and looks forward to the prospect of fighting Larn. Although he later claims having have second thoughts on taking Teegra as his concubine, he likely said that to Taro's face to get his guard down. Of course, his "lesser beasts" comment about Teegra also might make him Ambiguously Bi and brings implications that the thought of mating with those outside of his own ethnic group offends him, ironic considering his parents don't appear to be of the same group. The prequel comic has him show no opposition to marrying Teegra after the rest of the House of Firekeep has been slain, but he does voice concern about how Firekeep's allies won't like the royal family being slain and the remaining heir forced to marry him, suggesting he was only opposed to the idea when Teegra was right there in front of him, possibly being unhappy with what he saw.
  • Ambiguously Related: While Darkwolf was intended to be Nekron's father, it is uncertain if he is in the final product as well. Likewise, it is unclear if Kaledan is Nekron's full or half-brother.
  • Ambiguous Situation: While Darkwolf clearly knows who Nekron is and might even be his father, it is unclear if Nekron has any idea who Darkwolf is.
  • Antagonistic Offspring: He seems pretty ready to murder Juliana at a whim. He may be possibly Darkwolf's son as well.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: An Evil Overlord and the most powerful villain in the film.
  • Badass Bookworm: The prequel comic has Juliana refer to Nekron as bookish. As "bookish" as he is, the prequel comic shows he has a knowledge of poisons which he used to kill his elder brother Kaledan and the films portrays him as a dangerous swordsman and sorcerer.
  • Bait the Dog:
    • The movie initially gives the impression that he's largely a tool his mother uses to conquer, and his anger at her for bringing him Teegra as a concubine seems to indicate that he has some good in him and may not be evil by inclination. When Teegra tries to convince him to make peace, he seems to consider it... before bursting out laughing, revealing that he objected because he looked down on her, and spending the rest of the movie proving himself worse than even his mother.
    • Before he duels Larn, Nekron removes his robe giving the illusion of fighting Larn as an equal. It doesn't take long for him to start using his magic.
  • Big Bad
  • Blood Knight: As his interactions with Larn show, Nekron is takes great delight in fighting.
  • Cain and Abel: The prequel comic reveals that Nekron had an elder brother named Kaledan whom he had poisoned.
  • Did Not Think This Through: The prequel comic shows that Nekron had an elder brother named Kaledan whom he poisoned to take the throne. This resulted in him having the duty of fathering heirs, which his mother Juliana brings up in the film, much to Nekron's disdain.
  • Evil Gloating: Tells Taro that he might take his sister as his bride after all just to make him lower his guard.
  • Evil Overlord: Rules over a frozen domain and desires to take over the known world. The only thing he lacks is the spiky armor.
  • Evil Sorceror: With domain over ice and the cold, though he does have some telekinesis.
  • Half-Breed Discrimination: The prequel comic revealing that Teegra's parents came from two different tribes adds a new layer to Nekron referring to Teegra as a "lesser beast."
  • He-Man Woman Hater: Either this or Fantastic Racism as he refers to Teegra as both a "lesser beast" and a "little slut."
  • I Have You Now, My Pretty: Subverted. Queen Juliana orders Nekron's minions to kidnap Teegra as a consort or concubine for her son. Nekron is instead absolutely revolted by the idea of mating with Teegra. In the prequel comic, he shows no opposition to the idea, being more worried about how Firekeep's allies would react to the royal family being killed with only Teegra spared to be forced into marriage to him. By the film, it is entirely possible that he was not impressed with what he saw once she was brought before him.
  • Large Ham: Watch the scene the summons icebergs and he hams it up like crazy.
  • Lean and Mean
  • Magic Knight: In a surprising twist, he holds his own pretty well against Larn in a duel.
  • Mind over Matter: Besides his control over ice, his most prominent power is to move things with his mind. He uses it to great effect to stop Larn from attacking him, force Taro to kill himself and attempt to hold off Darkwolf, though in this case to no avail.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: His name sounds a lot like "Necro", a Greek prefix for words related to death.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Though not exactly "harmless", the movie gives the initial impression that the danger he poses largely comes from his control over glaciers and the authority he commands. However, it's later shown that he's extremely dangerous in personal combat, able to easily defeat groups of skilled fighters on his own.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: He doesn't seem interested in leaving any of humanity alive to rule after he conquers the world. He just wants to run his glaciers over everything.
  • Orcus on His Throne: He spends a majority of the film in his throne room, however being a viciously skilled fighter, this leaves him bored. When Larn shows up, he seems delighted to indulge in his Blood Knight tendencies.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: He is a master sorcerer and swordsman and at the top of the pecking order at Icepeak.
  • Sibling Murder: The prequel comic reveals he achieved his current position by murdering his older brother.
  • Sissy Villain: Downplayed. While he is flamboyant and a somewhat effeminate pretty boy, he's still a viciously skilled fighter and sorcerer.
  • Sorcerous Overlord: He's a powerful and malevolent magic user, with his own domain to boot.
  • Villainous Cheekbones: Fittingly, they contribute to him looking like a frozen corpse.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: His hair and skin are snow white and he is pure evil. The prequel comic downplays this by showing that the hair and skin are common to Nekron's tribe, but him being a massive jackass is all him.
  • Worthy Opponent: Heavily downplayed, but rather than killing Larn as he did Taro, Nekron instead has Larn used as a sparring partner, impressed by Larn being able to graze him with an arrow. He seems to be equally impressed when Larn actually manages to get a hit on him during their duel to the point that he even spares Larn to fight him again.

Queen Juliana

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/juliana.jpg
Portrayed by: Eileen O Neill
Voiced by: Susan Tyrrell

Nekron's mother. She orchestrates Teegra's kidnapping to provide Nekron with a bride and produce an heir.

  • Aerith and Bob: She is the only character with a mundane name.
  • Disney Villain Death: Juliana plummets to her death when Icepeak is engulfed by lava.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Much like Teegra, Juliana has a very pale complexion, but she appears more creepy and scary than beautiful.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: While Nekron doesn't reciprocate the sentiment, it's clear that Juliana loves her son - the reason she had Teegra captured was so Nekron could have a lover and she acts horrified when Darkwolf kills him.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: Though in a "Queen Mother" sort of way, since Nekron is the one actually ruling and the movie's Big Bad.
  • Half-Breed Discrimination: In the prequel comic, she dismissively refers to Teegra as "that insipid half-breed panther girl", apparently not thinking highly of her parents coming from two different tribes. However, this is also a case of hypocrisy as the comic also shows others of her and Nekron's tribe, who all have the same white hair Nekron has, meaning Juliana's dark hair is a product of one of her parents having come from another tribe.
  • I Want Grandkids: Juliana wants her son Nekron to produce an heir, much to his annoyance. As the prequel comic reveals, Nekron is actually Juliana's second son, the elder Kaledan having been poisoned by Nekron, explaining why Juliana wants Nekron to have children. There are no other sons of the royal house should anything happen to him.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: She dies shortly after Nekron's death, but lives long enough to see Darkwolf delivering the death blow to him.
  • Parental Favouritism: In the prequel comic, she outright referred to her firstborn son Kaledan as her "most favoured son" while also wishing that Kaledan was the bookish one and Nekron the martially-minded son, saying that risks are for second sons. Even after Kaledan's death, she still speaks more highly of him.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: In contrast to her son's omnicidal mania, Juliana seems to want to have a human population left to rule after they've finished conquering the world. Thus her suggestion of an alliance marriage (willing or not) as a less-violent means of conquering Firekeep. She also brings up the practical concern of an heir to the throne.
  • Purple Is Powerful: She is dressed in a purple gown and is the Big Bad's mother.
  • Sensible Heroes, Skimpy Villains: Inverted. Juliana wears a long purple dress that leaves her legs exposed, but is otherwise much more modest than Teegra's outfit.
  • Villainous Cheekbones: It's clear where her son gets them from.
  • Winter Royal Lady: While she doesn't dress the part and is never outright referred in such a manner, she is technically Queen of Icepeak.

The Envoy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/envoy.jpg
Voiced by: Alan Koss

A representative of Icepeak sent to Firekeep.

  • Frazetta Man: He has the Neanderthal features and skin color of the Sub-Humans, and once the gloves come off they jabber and fight rather like Sub-Humans as well. Unlike they and Otwa, though, he and his fellows are intelligent enough to serve as diplomats.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: His hooded eyes glow yellow beneath his hood.
  • In the Hood: His face is partially hidden beneath a sinister cloak.

The D'Kora Kai

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/subhumans.JPG

The soldiers of Icepeak.

  • All There in the Manual: Their actual name was not revealed until the prequel comic.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: They have gray-green skin.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: The prequel comic reveals, by way of exposition by Teegra's mother, that the D'Kora Kai used to be a proud warrior race before Juliana enslaved them and used her magic to turn them into what they are by the film.
  • Primal Stance: Some of them walk this way to reflect their primitive nature.
  • Was Once a Man: Downplayed. The prequel comic reveals that Juliana turned the D'Kora Kai into Frazetta men with her magic when she enslaved them. They still look human, but at the same time don't.
  • The Unintelligible: They have a great deal of dialogue in their own language, none of which can be understood by the audience, save the occasional use of a proper name such as "Teegra".

    Firekeep

Taro

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/taro_6.jpg
Portrayed and voiced by: William Ostrander

The Prince of Firekeep and Teegra's older brother.

  • Big Brother Instinct: Taro goes on a search for Teegra after her capture and doesn't waver in the presence of the Evil Overlord holding her captive.
  • Hero of Another Story: Taro visits another foreign land to arrange ships so he can travel to Nekron's stronghold. His story could make another movie entirely. Though it would have ended on a Downer Ending note in his case, given his death.
  • Psychic-Assisted Suicide: Nekron kills him by forcing him to impale himself with his own dagger.
  • Supporting Leader: He leads Firekeeps's forces against Nekron's minions and is on his mission to rescue his sister.

King Jarol

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jarol.jpg
Portrayed and voiced by: Leo Gordon

The King of Firekeep, father of Teegra and Taro.

  • Adipose Rex: He's a portly king.
  • Marriage Before Romance: The prequel comic reveals that Jarol and his wife were wed via a political marriage. It turned out to be a Perfectly Arranged Marriage with the two of them learning to love each other in time.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: He ends up outliving Taro once Nekron kills him and his reaction upon learning of his son's death indicates he knew it was a possibility, but one he hoped would not be the case. With his only remaining child and heir a hostage, Jarol then risks everything to rescue his daughter Teegra by sending out the entire army with his newfound allies Larn and Darkwolf.
  • Stout Strength: He effortlessly overpowers a subhuman and wrestles him to the ground.

The Tutor

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tutor.JPG
Portrayed by: Tamarah Park
Voiced by: Clare Nono

Teegra's teacher and protector.

  • All There in the Manual: The prequel comic Fire and Ice: Teegra identifies her name as "Liene" and reveals she had been Taro's lover before a marriage had been arranged for him.
  • Badass Bystander: She grabs a knife and attempts to protect Teegra from the subhumans, despite being essentially clad in lingerie.
  • Bedlah Babe: Her outfit and appearance call to mind "Arabian Nights" Days with a hint of Ancient Egypt.
  • No Name Given: She is only credited as “The Tutor”.
    • The prequel comic Fire and Ice: Teegra, reveals that her name is Liene.
  • Vague Age: In the film she seems to be at least a decade or two older than Teegra. The prequel comic Fire and Ice: Teegra portrays her as at least Taro's age, taking the fact they were lovers into account.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: The prequel comic ''Fire and Ice: Teegra" reveals that she is one with Taro, due to her lower social standing. While Taro promises to change things once he becomes king, his father got him into an Arranged Marriage.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: She has only one scene before being killed shortly into her second.

    Others

Roleil

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/roliel.jpg
Portrayed and voiced by: Elizabeth Lloyd Shaw

A jungle witch that lives in the woods with her son.

  • Affably Evil: Towards Teegra, at least until figuring out her identity.
  • Anti-Villain: Despite her rather sinister appearance and willingness to sell Teegra to Nekron, she is more neutral than outright evil, since she is technically not allied with him or supporting his invasion, and would rather deliver the girl to throw his minions off her back. She ends up being killed by his minions either way.
  • Avenging the Villain: She briefly returns to life as a skeleton to beg Larn and Darkwolf to avenge her.
  • Evil Redhead: She has auburn hair and is willing to sell Teegra to her pursuers to throw them off her back.
  • Fantastic Racism: She is the only character in the film to refer to the D'Kora Kai as "sub-humans". Everyone else refers to them as either "Nekron's men" or "Nekron's dogs". The prequel comic would feature Larn referring to them as "sub-human" as well, indicating this is hardly restricted to her, though in Larn's case it might be because he doesn't know their true name, while Roleil most likely does.
  • Forgotten First Meeting: The prequel comic reveals that Nekron's elder brother had delivered Larn to Roleil as a sacrifice. By the time of the film, there is no indication that the two recognize each other, especially since in Roleil's case she is a charred skeleton by that point and to her, Larn was just another sacrifice.
  • Hot Witch: Roleil is a fairly attractive redhead despite the creepy aura surrounding her.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: One of Nekron's minions runs her with his sword. He also killed her son with a spear in his back.
  • Oh, Crap!: Has this reaction after realizing who Teegra is and she is being hunted by Nekron's forces. And once again after her son is killed by the subhumans.
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: She wears a white dress with a neck plunge that reaches to her navel.
  • Solitary Sorceress: She lives by herself in the jungle with her son.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: She has only two scenes before being killed.

Otwa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/otwa.jpg
Portrayed and voiced by: Micky Morton

Roleil's monstrous son.

  • Made of Iron: Heavily downplayed in the prequel comic where he did survive a battle with Darkwolf and his horse Thunder-Heart, though he ended up with a pretty nasty head wound.
  • Small Parent, Huge Child: Otwa is roughly nine feet tall, but his mother, Roliel the forest witch, is the size of a standard-issue human. Makes one wonder who or what his father was.
  • Took a Level in Dumbass: The prequel comic reveals he was once capable of thought and speech; taking Darkwolf's axe to his brain turned him into the shambling brute we meet in the film.
  • The Ugly Guy's Hot Daughter: Inverted; he's the monstrous son of a beautiful woman.
