"It wouldn't be the Dr. Crafty show without some silly plot twist, or... you changing your mind on a dime. That's what I love about... Uhhhh, hahaha! This show! Yes! Definitely that!"

Voiced by: Corinne Sudberg (Megami33)

No other Crewmate bears as much responsibility as Nurse Worse, a scholarly Frankenstein's Monster-esque woman ostensibly designed by Dr. Crafty. She accompanies him throughout the main segments, spearheading the educational aspect of the show by providing art tips wherever appropriate. This is easier said than done; the castle consistently invites disruptions from a variety of sources, and it's most often up to Nurse to resolve them through diplomacy or sheer brute force. Unfortunately for her, sometimes these distractions come from her coworkers—especially Crafty. His litany of flaws leads to Nurse having to keep Crafty in line at almost every turn. Thus, she sometimes feels extremely resentful of him, wondering where she'd be if she didn't insist on maintaining their production.

Nurse stays by Crafty's side due to her crush on him, but because of their conflicts, it's a notion that's difficult for her to fully accept. But it's even harder for her to hide; at times, she drops painfully obvious romantic cues that Crafty never picks up on. When he does notice, he merely assumes she's just being weird, leaving Nurse scrambling to dodge the subject when she catches herself. She refuses to spell out her interest to him directly, for a few reasons aside from her mixed outlook on him. Not only is this crush a point of inner conflict for Nurse, but it's also deeply tied to a mysterious, sordid past she has no memory of. And when certain antagonists force her to remember some of it—or worse, relive it—she wishes it stayed forgotten.

Nurse Worse's design was established by Alex, then finalized into what it is now by his wife, Rin Lockhart.

  • Aborted Declaration of Love: In "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped," both Nurse and Crafty have time to reflect on their relationship and decide to apologize and help each other grow. Nurse is so moved by Crafty's apology that she quietly declares that she loves him, but only after she thinks that he's walked out of earshot. When Crafty briefly returns to ask what she said, Nurse denies ever saying anything and punches Crafty back into the room that he initially left for. She never expresses her romantic love so directly again, but the rest of Season 3 going forward sees her develop a tighter friendship with Crafty regardless.
    Crafty: Nurse, wait a moment.
    Nurse: Hm? Yes, Doctor?
Crafty: I um... I didn't want to say this on-camera—it's a little embarrassing—but um... I'm... I'm sorry, too. I've... taken you for granted. And I wanted to apologize. You... You're probably the best partner a silly manchild like me could ever ask for. So... Thank you.
[The two silently, warmly smile at each other before Crafty's nervousness gets the better of him.]
Crafty: W-Well, um... I'm going to work on next week's art, yes yes, um, talk to you later? Okay?
    [Crafty retreats to his bedroom.]
Nurse: [softly] Hmhm... I love you.
    [Crafty suddenly returns]
    Crafty: What?
Nurse: [panicking] NOTHING~~!! GO BACK TO SLEEP!
[Nurse punches Crafty back into his bedroom and runs off.]
  • Acrofatic: Despite her plumpness, Nurse is quite agile and limber as a result of her frequent exercise regimen. "Now It's S(he)Hulk Time!" demonstrates Nurse working out to a She-Hulk exercise video, performing difficult stretches (such as pulling her leg up to the top of her head) with ease.
  • Action Girl: Nurse is the Crew's frontline fighter, bearing immense strength to take out most threats immediately and enough willpower to succeed against more troubling opponents. For this reason, Crafty almost always calls upon her to deal with any unwanted guests, something "I Need a Hero Academia" celebrates when Nurse finally breaks free and comes to Crafty's rescue.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Her original human appearance has tanned skin, but it's not entirely clear what ethnicity she truly is, especially with her German-sounding real name.
  • Anti-Anti-Christ: Nurse was always intended by Mindstein to become a highly destructive deity fueled by Infinian technology. This was all decided without her consent, and Mindstein subsequently abused her however she could to keep her in line. The maltreatment alone would've been enough to discourage Nurse from willingly participating in the plan, but what cemented her stance was when she eventually escaped captivity, found Crafty, and started a new life with him. She cites this massive positive change during her climactic showdown with Screw in "I Need a Hero Academia's" last part, after spending much of the special imprisoned, degraded, and isolated by her and Mindstein. While she's addressing Screw during their fight, her wording implies that her speech applies to Mindstein, as well.
[Nurse and Screw continuously exchange rapid-fire punches, during which Nurse begins an impassioned speech.]
Nurse: [Mindstein] said you were made to be stronger than I was when she created me. That means you only know how powerful I was back then...
[Nurse quickly starts gaining the upper hand, with three particularly strong blows pushing Screw back. Screw, however, manages to sneak in a critical blow on Nurse's face, knocking off her glasses... but this doesn't perturb Nurse one bit.]
Nurse: You have no idea how much stronger I've become ever since Crafty took me in. And it's finally time I showed you! Showed everyone! Showed him! Just how STRONG I really am!
[For once, Screw looks utterly terrified by the strength and resolve being demonstrated to her.]
    [...]
    Nurse: HYAAAAAAAA!!!!
[Nurse successfully lands an electrified, explosive blow, sending Screw tumbling away into the air, covered in sparks. A brief cut to an on-looking Mindstein shows her growing intensely agitated by Screw losing her ground.]
Nurse: I made a promise to protect Crafty no matter what!
[Screw regains her footing, but she's only set herself up to be thrown skyward by Nurse's uppercut. Nurse then follows up by jumping up, grabbing Screw by the leg, and tossing her so hard into the stone floor that she bounces! And as Screw rebounds, Nurse lands beside her to deliver some parting words.]
Nurse: Here's a tip: Never hurt me or my friends again. And never... EVER... touch my Crafty AGAIN! PLUUUUSSS! ULTRAAAAAAA!!!!
[Nurse lands one final punch to Screw's gut, sending her sailing outside past several clouds, disappearing with a twinkle in the night sky.]
  • Apocalypse Maiden: With Nurse finally back in her possession in "I Need a Hero Academia" Part 1, Mindstein reveals her plans to use her as a vessel for the energies behind the Infinium Door, turning her into a malevolent goddess—whether she'd like to or not. The prospect of her mother succeeding wears down on Nurse until she nearly reaches a breaking point at the beginning of Part 4, but Crafty's rescue attempt ultimately gives her the confidence to rise above her existential crisis. By the time of "We're Back! A Crafty Story," she gains the courage to call out Mindstein for planning to do horrible things to her, daring her to do her worst.
[As Mindstein exits her office after surveying the show from afar, her main screen suddenly fills with noise. A voice sounds from the footage.]
Crafty: Oh, I almost forgot... There's one viewer, in particular, we have a little message for.
[Mindstein glares at the screen as an image comes into focus. It's the entire Crafty Crew glaring at her in silhouette!]
Crafty: Hello, Mindstein. Hope our 'biggest fan' is enjoying our season debut.
Nurse: We just wanted to let you know we thought about what you said at the end of last season...
Pepper: How you wanted us to be afraid every night since then...
Messibelle: We decided: screw that! 'Cuz we're not afraid of you!
Crystelle: No matter what surprises you may have planned, we are ready this time.
Crafty: If you want my Nurse so bad...
Nurse: If you want to take his heart...
Crafty and Nurse together: THEN BRING IT ON!
[Outraged, Mindstein chucks a scalpel into the screen. There's a hint of fear in her eyes as she looks on.]
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: The exaggerated bolts placed across Nurse's body are proportioned like modern Tesla coils, with wide heads and skinny bodies, contributing further to the electrical themes established by Nurse's Frankenstein's Monster influences. "I Need A Hero Academia" reveals that the bolts also act like actual coils; they help generate the electrical energy that powers her up.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: In "Super Fighting Monsters! MEGAMON," she gets distracted by the diamonds on Mega-Steelix's body, requiring Crafty and Darksilvania to chase her down and get her back on track.
  • Badass Adorable: Nurse is a short, chunky young woman with a cutely optimistic outlook on life, and she's very skilled at hand-to-hand combat. Because of her active training and muscular build, she is the Crafty Crew’s most powerful fighter. Time and time again, Nurse is shown to be a force to be reckoned with, with one of her biggest accomplishments being beating her extremely strong younger sister in "I Need a Hero Academia."
  • Badass in Distress: Starting with "Magic Kingdom Mania" and running through much of "I Need a Hero Academia," Nurse becomes Dr. Mindstein’s captive. Since Mindstein knew that Nurse would fight back, she restrains Nurse in a machine tailor-made to prevent her escape attempts. This plan ends up backfiring on Mindstein in the final part of "I Need a Hero Academia." Nurse’s mounting stress peaks when Crafty desperately calls for her help, causing her Infinium Heart to fill her with energy. The boost doesn’t last long, but she has just enough time to defeat Screw and force her out of the castle.
  • Bathing Beauty: Nurse tends to bathe frequently, even when the show is on. She has an entire set of poses in which she's clad in nothing but a towel.
    • Crafty stumbles upon Nurse in the middle of a shower during "The Legend of Lonk," during which he's hallucinating himself in a Legend of Zelda scenario. At first, Nurse freezes as Crafty looks upon her, oblivious to the fact that she's mostly naked; then, she shapely snaps him out of his daydreaming.
Nurse: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN HERE?! I WAS TAKING A SHOWER!!
    • Before the art segment of "It puts the Lootbox on it's Legendary Skin," Nurse takes several baths, as the intense heatwave makes her undead body reek of decay. She also finishes up another bath right after the episode's art segments. When she discusses these sessions with Crafty, Nurse casually mentions that she specifically bathes in formaldehyde, a chemical used for embalming.
    • During Jedah's introduction for the "Crafty Horror Picture Show," he shows off photos of the different Crafty characters that he mentions in his speech. Among the photos is one of Nurse in her towel, looking deeply embarrassed to be caught on camera.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: After she regains her memories in "I Need a Hero Academia" Part 1, a captive Nurse remembers why she has remained by Crafty's side to this day. In the past, after escaping from Mindstein's abusive household, she ended up mortally wounding herself by falling into an open grave at top speed. She spent her last few minutes of consciousness desperately calling for help, and thankfully for her, Crafty came to her aid and successfully saved her life. Consequentially, Nurse lost her memory, leaving her confused and scared. Not wanting to distress her more, Crafty conceived Dr. Crafty as a means to get both of their lives back on track. They may have bickered throughout their time together, but those moments do nothing to dissuade Nurse's thankfulness for Crafty. In the final part of the special, before Crafty sends a message to her assuring that rescue is on the way, Nurse reflects on the immensely positive impact that Crafty and his show have had on her life.
[The episode opens with Nurse alone in her prison. She struggles to break free of her restraints, but she's made no progress. Soon, she stops, casting her gaze down in defeat.]
Nurse: It's... no good. I've been at this for three days... and haven't budged. This machine... whatever it is... It's been slowly sapping away my strength. I don't know how much longer I'll last. Is this... what [Mindstein] wanted me to be? A useless, empty husk?
[As she continues speaking, Nurse flashes back to several key moments that she shared with Crafty throughout Season 3—the two friends reconciling in Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped, Crafty thanking her for helping him through his issues in LoveCrafty, and the two sharing a dance in Mischief Match Maker.]
Nurse: This whole time, I thought Crafty made me to help him with his silly show. Sure... It's not always the funniest thing ever, it's not the most popular thing to watch, but... he made it with love. Love for things he enjoyed—and that I've enjoyed. I... I've liked making this silly show... for all its faults and shortcomings... I like being here, and doing what I do...
[The flashbacks end, with the scene cutting back to Nurse, now sobbing.]
Nurse: But now... it's all going to be taken away from me. They took you away, Crafty—and now they're gonna take me away, too...!
[Nurse gives into her sobbing once more.]
Nurse: ... Because... I couldn't do the one thing I'm supposed to do above all else!
[Nurse sobs even harder before letting out one last anguished shout.]
Nurse: ... Protect you..! You may not have created me... but you made me who I am today. I'm sorry, Crafty! I'm so sorry!!
  • Berserk Button: The topic of women’s breasts, particularly how they are treated in art, consistently gets Nurse riled up.
    • In "Bikini Bodies," Nurse loses her temper as she begins discussing unrealistically drawn breasts. Even after Crafty gets her to calm down, she can only barely reign in her anger.
Nurse: For some reason... So. MANY. PEOPLE. Draw BALLOONS instead of ACTUAL BOO—
[Crafty tosses a computer monitor at her, which instantly calms her down—complete with a Windows startup noise!]
    • "My First OC" has her flipping out over how a Sonic OC artist drew a character’s breasts just to censor them. She’s so mad about it that she exposes herself on-camera in defiance, nearly jeopardizing the show’s YouTube channel. Crafty once again has to bring her back down to earth, but this time, Nurse is still fuming and opts to find a social media platform to let her breasts be free.
Crafty: Oh hey, this one’s actually not that bad!
      Nurse: Speak for yourself!
      Crafty: Huh? What’s wrong?
Nurse: The artist drew boobs just to censor them. This doesn’t make any sense! If they’re going to draw them, let them be loud and proud! FREE THE TITTY! FREE THEM I SAY! AHHHHH!!!!!!!!
[Nurse actually flashes her breasts, though they’re thankfully censored by two pictures of a booby and titmouse, respectfully.]
      Crafty: WAIT, NURSE, NO—
[The clever censorship wasn't enough. A notice appears, explaining that the video was taken down for violating YouTube’s terms of service. Thankfully, the Crew is back on the air soon after.]
  • Bespectacled Cutie: Nurse wears a rounded pair of spectacles, which not only signifies her intelligence but also adds to her appeal for many people. "Fanboy and the Furious" shows Francis specifically falling in love with Nurse, not only for being a fellow Frankenstein's Monster but for also being very intelligent. Later, Yaoyorozu also gives Nurse accolades for her intellect and beauty in "I Need a Hero Academia."
  • Best Friend: Even when discounting her romantic feelings for him, Nurse and Crafty have the closest friendship out of the entire Crafty Crew. Much focus is given to how their friendship evolves; both of them gradually come to understand each other beyond their basic functions on the show. In doing so, they start discussing deeply personal matters with each other that they wouldn’t otherwise with anyone else.
    • "I Need a Hero Academia" establishes how the two started living together. Both of them ended up committing important acts of kindness for each other that helped them start their lives anew together. Nurse did her best to help Crafty through his post-breakup depression, and Crafty returned the favor by saving her life.
    • The friendship starts growing a ton with "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped," where Nurse reflects on her past behavior and promises to improve herself going forward, something Crafty mutually agrees to do himself. Notably, this episode sees the start of their commentary styles overlapping, with each taking turns with informative bits and funny bits. Previous episodes segregated both types of commentary to Nurse and Crafty, respectively.
    • "LoveCrafty" proves to be an important friendship moment for Nurse and Crafty, with Nurse putting forth her psychology skills to help Crafty talk out some past issues of his. When the session is complete, they share a moment to deliver high praise to each other:
Nurse: Crafty, I’m proud of you.
      Crafty: W-why?
Nurse: It’s not easy to talk about issues that you’ve had and hard experiences you’ve faced in the past and coming to terms with them. I’m also very flattered that you could share these things with me and trust me enough to listen!
Crafty: I’m... I’m grateful, too. For listening, and... for being here with me. I honestly can say that you’re exactly the kind of person I need in my life right now. So... thank you.
Nurse: [blushing] N-no problem, Crafty! Now I’m off to my quarters! Toodles!!
    • Two episodes are dedicated to Nurse helping Crafty confront some old, failed concepts of his from the past: "Charablanca" and later in Season 4, "Old Project, New Look!" She gives a pep talk to Crafty about how much he's grown since those concepts in the former, and helping him revisit his concepts more directly in the latter helps Crafty reconcile with some things from his past. Had it not been for Nurse’s help in "Old Project, New Look," Crafty wouldn’t have grown confident in tackling Sonic the Hedgehog content throughout Sonic Month.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While Nurse is pleasant and kind-hearted, she doesn’t tolerate too much nonsense. She will not hesitate to get violent if it means keeping herself or her friends safe or to quell an annoyance.
    • Throughout Fakémon Month, Crafty's ego and childishness constantly gets under Nurse's skin. What angers her the most is that he consistently mistakes his Grass Starter design for a donkey, when it's meant to be a rhinoceros. Her frustration with him reaches its peak in "All Grown Up," where she starts beating Crafty unconscious over his mistake. Her outburst leaves the visiting Darksilvania visibly unsettled.
[The finished art for the Grass Starter's final evolution is presented onscreen, and Crafty and Nurse arrive to commentate over it.]
Crafty: Oh-hohoho, yes. My grass donkey looks absolutely splendiferous! Yes!
[Nurse snaps, taking a Wonky Donkey book and beating Crafty over the head with it. All the while, she snarls incoherently. Crafty pleads with her in-between punches.]
Crafty: OW! What're you doing?! Don't bully me, Nurse! She's gonna kill me!! Call the constables! PLEAAAASE!!
[One final punch knocks Crafty out cold. Darksilvania slowly arrives and becomes shocked by the aftermath of Nurse's outburst.]
      Darksilvania: Nurse Worse?
      Nurse: I'm finished...
    • "This is Crack(ship)" shows her coming to Pepper’s aid when the lecherous Gecko jumps at her for a non-consensual hug, just as he is in the ongoing art piece that he commissioned. Nurse rockets in from off-screen and sucker-punches Gecko away, emphasizing not just the terms of Gecko’s commission agreement, but her devotion to her coworker.
Nurse: Crafty Concoctions are not consent!
    • Crafty has been stuck in his room all day during "Something Strange This Way Comes," not responding to anyone outside. So a frustrated—but mostly worried—Nurse eventually opts to kick down the door hard to come in and check on him.
    • Nurse also lays quite the beatdown on Screw during "I Need a Hero Academia’s" climax. Right before sending her sister flying out of the castle, Nurse makes it absolutely clear that she wants Screw as far away from her and her friends as possible.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: Nurse Worse is a chubby Hospital Hottie, with an ample musculature that makes her even heftier. As such, the cast and guests consistently acknowledge her as a very attractive woman.
    • In "Rocky Horror Slicture Show" Jack O' Laugh ends the episode hoping to get Nurse's phone number to "make an appointment.",
    • Francis falls head over heels for Nurse in "Fanboy and the Furious," no doubt falling for her for being a fellow Frankenstein's Monster. He's crushed when she admits that, while she's flattered, she'd much rather focus on her career.
    • Not even Crafty is immune to Nurse's good looks at times. He grows incredibly flustered upon seeing her sexy outfit at the end of "Grease Frightening."
Crafty: Hey Nurse, want to find out what we're tackling next week?... Nurse?
[A piano cue plays as Nurse arrives in a tight-fitting, revealing leather outfit, topped off with her hair undone into a messy afro and a battery in her left hand.]
Nurse: Hmhm... tell me about it, stud~.
[Seduced, Crafty goes bonkers. He starts blushing and spouts gibberish that culminates in a burst of lightning.]
      Crafty: YAAAAAA-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOOIE!!!
[It seems the episode is over, but the screen suddenly fades back to the lab. Crafty is singed and Nurse is completely taken off-guard.]
Nurse: Oh! Oh. Oh wow. It really was electrifying. Sorry.
[The actual ending lightning flash plays.]
    • Messibelle, never one to pass up an opportunity for a woman no matter their size, immediately starts hitting on Nurse the moment she notices her in "New Season, New Friends."
Messi: What're you doing after the show~?
      Nurse: Wh-wha...?
Messi: [slowly lowering her voice to a whisper] How 'bout I show you my dressing room, and we can have good.... Clean.... Fun~?
[Nurse breathes a sigh of arousal and giggles.]
Crafty: If by 'dressing room' you mean 'bathroom,' then I think you and I have been reading the same dictionary. Now hurry up and clean this fourth wall up!
Messi: Oh, yes, uh... Right away, master!
[Then, as she leaves, Messi turns to Nurse one last time.]
      Messi: [whispering] Callll meeeee~.
  • Big Fun: She often has to wrangle with Crafty and the show’s zaniness to keep things from getting too crazy, but the chubby Nurse is otherwise cheerful and big-hearted. She greatly enjoys her banter with the Crew over just about anything and almost always approaches the various subject matters with healthy optimism. "Epcot Escapades" indulges this aspect of her character. After she and Crafty criticize Disney’s E.P.C.O.T. park for being the least exciting of the main four Disney parks, she tries making up for it by citing the park’s fantastic food and wine.
  • Break the Cutie: Throughout Cartoon Month, Bill Cipher invades Nurse’s mind and unearths some traumatic Repressed Memories of her mother, Mindstein. Each time Bill leaves her head, she breaks into terrified tears. She gets better throughout Disney Month, only to come crashing back down again when she spends most of "I Need a Hero Academia" as Mindstein’s captive. Nurse very nearly gives up resisting her fate before Crafty delivered a message to her in Part 4.
  • But She Sounds Wonderful: Nurse's VA, Megami33, is a diegetic presence on the show. Whenever she comes up in conversation, especially during "Dragon! Mock the Dragon!" where Team Four Star is discussed, Nurse has nothing but praise for her.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Nurse has a deep love for Crafty, and she drops some incredibly unsubtle hints about it throughout the show. However, she never expresses her crush directly; it also doesn't help that Crafty fails to pick up on her attraction at every turn. By "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped," Messi reveals that everyone else but Crafty knows about Nurse's crush on him. She has also become deeply concerned about Nurse's hesitation to talk about it openly with Crafty, and she’s afraid that if Nurse continues to do so, she’ll end up deeply unhappy. Complicating matters is that, by this point, the Crew now knows about Crafty's old girlfriend, Sasha. It's obvious in this episode and more to come that Nurse wants to respect Crafty's desire to reconnect with Sasha, no matter how much it pains her to do so. Thankfully, while Nurse never explains her crush to Crafty in Season 3, she does spend the season improving her relationship with him, developing what ends up being the closest friendship on the show by the season finale.
  • Cerebro Electro: Nurse Worse is one of the smartest members of the Crafty Crew, with a vested interest in medicine, biology, psychology, art, and pop culture. Her electrical powers stem from her artificial Infinium Heart; whenever a loved one is in danger, her heart overflows with electrical energy and increases her strength, speed, and durability tenfold. It is first demonstrated in "I Need a Hero Academia" and remains part of her skillset since. She also happens to have an addiction to electricity, which is first shown in "Original Characterror."
  • Chekhov's Gun: Nurse's degree in psychology, established in "Pros and Comms" during a gag, proves to be especially important during "LoveCrafty." There, she holds a therapy session with Crafty to help him work out his deep personal issues. Doing so helps Nurse understand Crafty a little more, and their friendship becomes even stronger as a result
  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: While she has her own eccentricities, Nurse usually has to help keep Crafty on track. She's quick to reprimand him for stepping way out of line, and she's also very useful for getting him out of any trouble he encounters. She mentions in "Going Poster" that these are some of the main reasons she's part of the Crafty Crew, and succeeding episodes demonstrate how, despite getting annoyed by Crafty occasionally, she wouldn't have it any other way.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl:
    • By "New Season, New Friends," Nurse is very content being the show's only co-host—it keeps her close to Crafty, who she has a huge crush on. She's none-too-pleased with Pepper and Messibelle's introduction in the same episode, especially the former, who immediately draws her ire due to some superficial similarities they share. Not wanting to be outshone, Nurse makes a point to assert herself as the show's "best girl." Thankfully, this behavior didn't last—her outlook on Pepper, in particular, does a total 180 beforehand.
    • Sasha and the her romantic history with Crafth both tend to be an awkward subject for Nurse, and while Nurse handles her jealousy quite heathily, she’s as good at hiding it as she is about her crush on Crafty. The mere mention of Sasha from Messi in "This is Crack(ship)" urges Nurse to apprensively get on with the episode. Much later, Nurse allows Sasha to visit Crafty in-person in "We're Back! A Crafty Story," even though she is clearly uncomfortable about the arrangement. Messi asks to confirm if Nurse is okay with Sasha being there, but Nurse asserts—resignedly—that Sasha has every right to see Crafty.
  • Covert Pervert: While Nurse is far from the most outwardly lewd character on the cast, she does let her horny side slip out now and again, especially when Crafty is involved.
    • Every now and again, whenever Crafty does something attractive to her, Nurse blushes profusely and excuses herself to her quarters. The first instance of these gags is in "The Dubious Duo," where Crafty complains about finding fitting boots. Nurse says the line, and like every subsequent gag like this one, Crafty doesn’t understand the intent behind her departure.
Crafty: Seriously, you have no idea how hard it is to find knee-high boots when you have legs that don’t quit like mine.
Nurse: [blushing, then drooling] Yeah... They certainly... don’t quit... Heheheh, *sigh*.
Crafty: You... doing okay over there? You ah, you got something on your face.
Nurse: What?! Uh, yeah! I’m fine. Just, ah... Need a s— need a second there.
[The pressure becomes too much for Nurse, and she's back to drooling.]
Nurse: I'll Be in My Bunk.
[Nurse hurries away. Crafty is none the wiser.]
      Crafty: Whatever...
    • In "Pros and Comms," Crafty explains a rule about commissioned artwork involving the Crafty Crew: it’s all non-canon. This immediately gets the gears in Nurse's head turning as she thinks about all the lewd scenarios she can vicariously enjoy in her Crafty fanfiction.
Nurse: So wait. If these things aren’t canon, is fanfiction okay?
Crafty: Um, I mean... I guess?
Nurse: EEEEEE!! I’ll be in my bunk!
[Later, the latest art piece is complete, and Nurse is still absent.]
Crafty: Well, that’s another one done! We only have one left to do! ... Blast it all! Is Nurse still back in her room?! She’s been in there for the last couple hours! Probably writing that fanfiction she was talking about.
      [Crafty realizes something uncomfortable.]
Crafty: I’m... scared to know what she’s writing. Not like fanfiction isn’t already a scary thing, to begin with.
    • In "The Legend of Lonk," she briefly gets distracted by how much fanart exists of Link in his midriff-baring Gerudo armor set. She's clearly lusting over Link's good looks in one piece, even blowing a Wolf Whistle. Crafty hurries to get her back on track.
Crafty: L-Let's not talk about that! Pull out the next one!
    • invoked "Blind Hate" sees Crafty and Nurse tackling a Crack Ship between Skeletor of He-Man and Garnet of Steven Universe. One of Crafty's quips elicits a slightly aroused reaction from Nurse:
Nurse: But how would that even work?
Crafty: Nurse, we're not here to judge love! We're here to make love!
      Nurse: Phrasing, Doctor!
      [Nurse starts drooling and blushing.]
Nurse: Though, let's not take that idea off the table~...
  • Cute Monster Girl: She's an adorable and pleasantly plump Frankenstein's Monster with a happy disposition and a protective edge. Her beauty becomes a point of contention for her in "Pros and Comms," where she laments how her looks and her status as a monster girl both lead to her being used in some suggestive commissions and fan art. The discussion suddenly leads to her expressing these concerns in song—specifically, a parody of "Sister Suffragette" in which other Cute Monster Girls join in and back Nurse up.
  • Cuteness Proximity: "A Fresh Starter" sees her utterly enthralled by Crafty's Fakémon starter designs. And while she's initially disappointed with getting the Water-Type, its cuteness wins her over.
  • Deer in the Headlights: "Magic Kingdom Mania" ends with Nurse seeing her mother, Dr. Mindstein, in person for the first time in years. By this point, Nurse’s memories of her abusive childhood have resurfaced, so the sight of Mindstein causes Nurse to freeze in terror. Mindstein capitalizes on her daughter’s fear, summoning Screw to incapacitate her and Crafty and setting "I Need a Hero Academia’s" events into motion.
  • Emotional Bruiser: She's an exceptional bare-handed brawler, but Nurse is also an openly cheerful and sensitive person. Additionally, as "I Need a Hero Academia" demonstrates, her power output is directly tied to her emotions, thanks to her Infinium Heart replica. If a loved one is in critical danger, her heart will kick into overdrive and overflow her with energy.
  • Fat and Skinny: Being the main duo of the show, the dichotomy between Nurse and Crafty's appearances couldn't be more apparent. Her short and stout build contrasts strongly with Crafty's tall, stringy body. Consequentially, Nurse sets a design precedent for all succeeding Crewmates to come: each of them are far bulkier than Crafty in different ways. Thus, the visual contrast is maintained throughout the show's different spin-off segments.
  • Fear of Thunder: Established early on in "The Worst Nurse" is Nurse’s fear of thunder. She’s startled when the episode begins because, like every other episode, it starts with a lightning effect, complete with a loud crash. Ironically, "Original Characterror" reveals that she has an electricity addiction, gladly receiving smaller doses of electricity as a form of relief.
  • Frankenstein's Monster: Nurse is extremely reminiscent of Frankenstein's Monster, and the series explores the implications of her appearance a few times.
    • Extremely hot temperatures and the passing of time can cause Nurse's innards to decompose, which is exactly what happens in "It Puts The Loot On Its Legendary Skin." She tries combating this issue by taking several formaldehyde baths during the day, three before the art segment begins and a fourth afterward.
    • For a long time, Nurse believes that Crafty made her. "Dumb Dingies" and "Something Weird This Way Comes" both hint that Nurse's origin is a touchy subject for Crafty; both times in which she talks about it, he always hurries to shift the conversation to something else. The first two parts of "I Need a Hero Academia" explain both the true origins of Nurse's appearance along with the reason behind Crafty's apprehension about Nurse's history.
      • A shock from Mindstein in Part 1 unearths a memory in a captive Nurse regarding her creation: it was all Mindstein's doing. She had dismembered Nurse in order to install an Infinium Heart replica into her body, then haphazardly stitched her back together. The process, in turn, changed Nurse's skin tone from pink to a two-tone green. The next step required Nurse to be confined in a water tank for study; there, memories of her time with Crafty in their high school activated the Heart, which overflowed her with enough energy to break free and sprint for safety. Unfortunately, in her franticness to escape, she ended up tripping into an open grave, impacting the bottom so hard that her body came apart at her new seams. Thankfully, Crafty soon found her calling for help and hurried to save her life, but the flashback ends before he truly gets started. Now, in the present, Nurse is left facing the monster that got her into this mess.
[Nurse snaps out of the flashback, hyperventilating as all the emotions hit her at once.]
Nurse: You... You made me. You're... my mother!
Mindstein: That's right, Greta... I created you. I brought you into this world, raised you, molded you, and made you what you are now.
Nurse: I was alive... I had a life, and then... You... killed me!
[Mindstein smiles without a hint of remorse.]
        Mindstein: Ahehehe... guilty.
Nurse: ... Why...?! ...HOW COULD YOU DO SUCH A THING?!
Mindstein: You were supposed to be my greatest creation: the successor to my machinations. But somewhere along the way...
[Mindstein reaches a hand out and harshly clenches it into a fist.]
Mindstein: ... You began to slip from my grip.
[A quick flashback plays as Nurse remembers the time when she snuck out of home at night to meet Crafty at the beach.]
Mindstein: You disobeyed me! And then you tried to escape me! So I took measures to make sure you wouldn't run away again...
[The flashback ends. Mindstein has turned away from Nurse.]
Mindstein: Despite my calculations, you resisted and managed to escape. And then that idiot found you.
        Nurse: Crafty...
Mindstein: Yes... Such an embarrassment. To think he managed to hide you away all these years, my instrument...
      • Crafty's flashback in Part 2 picks up where Part 1 leaves off, detailing Crafty's process of saving her life and why he pretended for so long that she was his creation. Before and after her repairs, Nurse was deeply distraught; the unexpected amnesia that she gained from the process did nothing to quell those feelings. Thus, Crafty came up with his false backstory for Nurse to distract her from any potential trauma. Her appearance happened to jive with the mad scientist aesthetic that he had in mind for his then-upcoming webshow, so he decided to take her in as not just his friend, but his assistant on that show. As far as he knew at the time, she was as deeply troubled as he was, and he wanted to give them both new leases in life and leave most of their pasts behind them.

    G-W
  • Genius Bruiser: Nurse’s brawn is matched by her brains, and she's got plenty of both to spare. Nurse is the immediate strongest of the Crafty Crew, and, unlike Crafty, she has a well-rounded education. She has a psychology degree, which she reveals in "Pros and Comms" and puts to great use in "LoveCrafty" to help with Crafty’s personal issues. What’s more, "I Need a Hero Academia" shows that she even has some medical knowledge; she patches up Crafty and Class 1-A, both of which recover in a matter of days.
  • Genki Girl: Nurse tends to be rather calm and down to earth most of the time, but she's outwardly optimistic and deeply passionate about her participation in the show. Like Crafty, she almost always engages with the episodes' subject matters with great interest. This is especially the case for episodes like "Charablanca" and "Old Project, New Look." In both episodes, Nurse is captivated by Crafty's old Green Detective concept, especially how he reimagines certain characters from the project in the present day. She ends up feeling more passionate about it than he is, even.
  • Golden Super Mode: Upon tapping into the power of the Infinium Heart, Nurse's bolts, eyes, and colored hair streaks all turn golden. The form is first introduced in "I Need a Hero Academia’s" final battle, where Nurse becomes powerful enough to take down Screw—notably, this is after Screw doubles her power output by half-turning the screw in her head. In "We’re Back! A Crafty Story," Crafty settles on calling this ability "Infinium Flux."
  • G-Rated Drug: Despite her Fear of Thunder, Nurse has an addiction to electricity that runs up the castle’s electricity bill.
    • A Cutaway Gag in "Original Characterror" shows her hooked up to an electrical outlet, with a cable hooked up to her head bolts. She looks as high as a kite!
Nurse: Oh-huu~! Ohhh yeah... That’s some good voltage~...
[The gag cuts away, back to the present. Crafty looks upon Nurse in annoyance.]
Nurse: I can assure you it was purely for medicinal purposes!
    • As part of her Sandy outfit at the end of "Grease Frightening," she holds a battery in place of a cigarette.
    • In "Patreon Palava," Nurse is unable to host the episode due to attending a meeting for "Electroholics Anonymous."
    • According to Crystelle in "Door Number 3," Nurse takes double-A batteries to treat her electricity addiction, in much the same way one would treat their nicotine addiction with a nicotine patch. The problem is, Nurse also stuffs herself with entire packs of these batteries, enabling the addiction anyways.
Crystelle: I swear, the girl eats them up like brownies! One time, she ate an entire pack of the things and was fluttering about the lab because she thought she’d been cast in Swan Lake. Entertaining, but strange nonetheless. That, and any battery-operated device usually ends up mysteriously missing... Okay. So this question began as, 'how she handles this problem.' But, clearly, after my explanation, the better answer is... poorly.
  • Given Name Reveal: Her real name is Greta, as implicitly revealed in "Yugi Vs. Sakura," though she doesn't recognize the name as hers at first. By the time of the season 3 finale, she finally recalls it in full: Greta Franzisca Wunderwurse.
  • Has a Type: She doesn’t exclusively like Crafty; she seems to have a thing for Tall, Dark, and Handsome men in general. She lusts over the Magician of Black Chaos during "The Foreshadow Game," then Alucard and his father in "Is That a Castlevania Reference," all of which fit that description with Crafty.
  • Hidden Depths: Nurse Worse isn't just a nurse. In "Pros and Comms," to explain why a completed piece involves her conducting therapy with a commissioner's OC, she excitedly reveals that she has a PhD in psychology! Unlike Crafty's viticulture degree, Nurse's was earned legitimately. This revelation leads to some confusion over her name and title.
Nurse: Little known fact: I have a PhD in psychology! So you can call me Doctor... Doctor Worse? Doctor... Nurse Worse?
Crafty: I'm not quite sure you can be a doctor and a nurse at the same time. You have to pick one.
    Nurse: What's the difference?
[Crafty struggles to come up with an answer for a few seconds.]
Crafty: Doctors get paid more, I think!
Nurse: So I'm gonna be Doctor Worse!
Crafty: HA! HAHA! You actually thought I was going to pay you more?
[Nurse silently bares her teeth at Crafty.]
Crafty: Too bad. I'm the only doctor on this show.
  • Identity Amnesia: According to Crafty’s flashback in "I Need a Hero Academia" Crafty’s revival of Nurse a few years back caused her to forget who she was before Crafty found her. However, upon regaining consciousness, she starts sobbing not just out of confusion, but fear, implying that she at least remembered the feelings of distress from her past. Thus, Crafty came up with her current name, "Nurse Worse," and had her accompany him for his show to distract from the matter and gift her a new lease in life. In the present day, Nurse regains her memories, proudly declaring her full name after defeating Screw in the special’s climax.
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: Nurse’s fighting skills are derived from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. She also makes a point to sprinkle some Gratuitous Japanese whenever she starts throwing hands.
    • "Player Select" reveals that she specifically gains inspiration from All-Star Battle. She's made a point to work some of the game's moves into her exercise regime.
    • When taking out Gilgamesh in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail War," she introduces her attack with "Omae wa mou shindeiru." Then, she pelts him with a flurry of punches while shouting the typical JoJo "ORA ORA ORA" battle cry. She even tops off the reference by quoting Jotaro Kujo’s "Yare yare daze." She makes similar moves and references throughout the series, such as against Screw during "I Need a Hero Academia." Screw responds in kind with some punches of her own, complete with DIO's "MUDA MUDA MUDA" battle cry.
  • Imagined Innuendo: Nurse gets aroused when the Sanderson Sisters talk about their desire to "eat" her in "Hocus Mansion," unaware that their true intention is they want to literally consume her body and soul. Crafty spends the episode rescuing her from becoming the Sisters' next meal, but Nurse misunderstands his intent and calls him out each and every time.
  • It's All My Fault: Being the strongest of the six Crewmates, Nurse holds herself responsible if she can't deal with a threat effectively, whether she had the means to or not. This sometimes extends to interpersonal matters, as well. Typically, if she's given the means to do so, her first priority is to set things right for the person she feels she has wronged.
    • As the Crewmates' Shadow Realm imprisonment becomes tenser in Part 3 of "The Foreshadow Game," Nurse briefly expresses her regrets over the situation. By this point, she and her coworkers don't know that Bakura hijacked her body. All that she remembers before blacking out and ending up where she is now is opening a strange package; even so, she still accepts the blame entirely for their current predicament. Crafty, Pepper, and Messi all comment on Nurse's odd behavior leading up to now, which leads to Crafty remembering the Millenium Ring that he saw on Nurse's neck. He correctly concludes that Nurse is possessed by the Ring's spirit, and he removes the blame from her entirely, giving him and his fellow Crewmates some much-needed context surrounding what's going on. When an opportunity arises for Crafty to fight Bakura and free himself and his friends, Nurse, the other Crewmates, and Sasha outfit his Yu-Gi-Oh deck with the perfect setup to hard-counter Bakura's strategy and win.
    • The gap between "The Foreshadow Game" and "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped" gave Nurse ample time to evaluate her relationship with Crafty, which had reached its lowest point in Season 2 thanks to their petty bickering. When Crafty wakes up from his coma after the former episode, Nurse takes him aside and thoroughly apologizes for her mistreatment of him. She exclusively holds herself accountable for their conflict, feeling that she fundamentally misunderstood Crafty as a person and regarded him as far less than who he actually was. After she expresses her wish to continue helping him, Crafty readily accepts her apology and later apologizes in return, recognizing that he holds equal blame for their quarreling.
    • At the beginning of "I Need a Hero Academia" Part 4, Nurse experiences an emotional breakdown as she feels her health deteriorating in Mindstein's prison. Her grows especially distressed when she declares to herself that she failed to protect Crafty—"the one thing [she's] supposed to do above all else." And upon seeing Crafty and Class 1-A putting themselves in danger to save her, Nurse ultimately finds the energy to achieve her Infinium Flux mode and free herself from her prison. After ensuring Crafty and the remaining Class 1-A students' safety, she goes all out against Screw to make up for losing to her back in "Magic Kingdom Mania."
  • Jerkass Realization: Throughout Season 2, Nurse grows increasingly liable to physically and verbally attack Crafty when he's acting particularly insufferable. However, thanks to Sasha coming to save the Crew during "The Foreshadow Game," Nurse gains some true insight into Crafty's past. The endgame of the special renders Crafty comatose, with Nurse watching over him for a few months as she ponders over what she learned until "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped." There, after Crafty wakes up, Nurse takes him aside before they work on art to deliver a heartfelt apology for her mistreatment of him. This motivates Crafty to deliver his own apology later in the same episode, setting up their journey to repairing and improving their friendship throughout Season 3.
    Crafty: So... You know, then.
Nurse: *Sigh*... Yes. I know about her, Doctor.
    Crafty: I see. Nurse, I—
Nurse: Please, don't, Doctor. You've just woken up, and I don't want to add more stress to you.
    Crafty: Nurse?
Nurse: But, Crafty? Ahem... I must say, though. While you were unconscious, I've had a lot of time to think... about us. I've... been utterly terrible to you. I thought you were just some silly manchild that needed a nanny more than a nurse. But... I see now there's clearly been a lot more going on with you that I never picked up on. For that, I'm deeply sorry. For all the things I said, and the things I've done, too. I'd take it all back and hope you can forgive me being a poor nurse... and a worse friend. I don't know why you never told me about Sasha. Maybe... Maybe it was none of my business. Or maybe you just weren't ready to tell me. But whatever the reason...
[By this point, the combination of Nurse's apology and the talk of Sasha makes Crafty visibly forlorn.]
Nurse: ... I just want to make it crystal-clear to you: I'm not going anywhere. As your nurse, I'll stand by your side and follow you through Hell if you command it. Whatever she did that hurt you so much, I'll do everything I can to heal the pain! No matter what happens, you can always count on me to be there for you from now on! Make no mistake of that.
[Crafty starts smiling throughout Nurse's promise, and by the time she finishes speaking, he's blushing as much as Nurse is!]
Nurse: S-Sorry! Heh... That must've sounded silly coming from me—
[Crafty gives Nurse a big hug, which leaves her utterly starstruck.]
Crafty: [softly and sincerely] Thank you, Nurse. That means the world to me.
  • Jerkass to One: There are hints throughout Season 1 that Nurse doesn't totally respect Crafty, but by Season 2, her patience for him and his antics almost entirely vanishes. She frequently becomes actively rude and hostile toward him—and, for the most part, only him—until "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped." Her frustration isn't unwarranted, as Crafty's abrasiveness and self-aggrandizement both reach their peak during this time, and he sometimes doubles down on those qualities specifically to get under Nurse's skin. She responds in kind with not just her words, but especially her fists. It gets to the point where she sometimes overextends her anger, lashing out at Crafty even when he isn't intentionally annoying her.
    • Crafty keeps unconsciously interrupting Nurse during the beginning of "A Well Slimed Machine," and when Nurse calls him out on it, he apologizes and promises to do better... But when he accidentally interrupts her again, Nurse loses it and tackles Crafty off-screen to beat the hell out of him.
    • While introducing the topic of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail War," Crafty cites fate as the reason that this episode exists. Later, it turns out that he meant Fate/stay night, but in the moment, Nurse takes the word literally and makes a bitter comment about her current standing apropos of nothing. All of the venom in her words is directed at Crafty, who tries his best to ignore the comment and moves on with the episode.
      Crafty: Friends, servants, countrymen...
Nurse: In case the title below the video didn't clue you in, this is the thirtieth episode! Isn't that such a milestone?
Crafty: Indeed it is! And it is for this purpose that fate saw fit to convene us today...! No, seriously, Fate is the literal, tangible reason we're here today.
Nurse: You mean the force of nature that predetermined the force of events in my life and forced me to derail my career and settle for being on your show despite having a formal education?
Crafty: [rather irritated now] WE'RE GOING ON AN ADVENTURE!
    • During Fakémon Month, Nurse remains polite with the visiting Darksilvania, but she's constantly at odds with Crafty due to his entitlement about hosting the show and his obliviousness to certain topics. By "All Grown Up," After spending the month losing more of her patience with Crafty as he continuously mistakes his Grass starter Fakémon for a Donkey, Nurse beats him unconscious with a Wonky Donkey book to finally drive the point home. Later, when Crafty questions the appeal of Nurse's Water starter Fakémon, Nurse body-slams him. Darksilvania grows rather concerned about Crafty's condition after the attack, but Nurse remains unsympathetic.
Crafty: It's just like Dumbo! I don't see the big deal with—
[An irritated Nurse slams him aside. There's an intense crash as Crafty lands off-screen.]
Nurse: HE IS ADORABLE AND I LOVE HIM!!! Ah-heh-hem...
[Nurse returns to her spot on the screen, past a shocked and slightly distressed Darksilvania.]
Nurse: What also would like to bring up is the color choices used in this piece! Along with the Indian influences, the colors exemplify the lively colors that are used in the fashion and artwork in India! Some soft and pastel, while there's a contrast of hard gold!
      Crafty: [off-screen] Ohhhhhhhhhh-hoooo, my spleen....
[Worried, Darksilvania moves toward Crafty's direction.]
      Darksilvania: He's not moving...
Nurse: [indignantly] He'll be fine. He can stay in pain until he realizes the true cuteness that is that elephant! Hmph!
[Nurse exits abruptly. Darksilvania follows suit, but slowly and resignedly.]
    • Throughout "Aqua Marina," Crafty sees it fit to make constant ink puns due to the episode's subject matter: Splatoon. Nurse grows so annoyed by the puns that she briefly loses her sanity before beating Crafty into silence. Yet even after the first attack, Crafty continues to crack the puns, which only motivates Nurse to react just as violently each and every succeeding time. It's her mistreatment of him that motivates Crafty to insult Nurse where it hurts most during their Splatfest parody, where he attacks her weight and her unused medical degree.
    • Fighting Month's main show episodes are dedicated to Crafty and Nurse engaging in some Death Debate matches, in which they debate with each other about which of two characters in a given episode will win in a fight. After enduring so much conflict before these episodes, the two hosts manage to keep things cordial between themselves... at least until "Yugi Vs. Sakura." Crafty, refusing to accept that they'll end their Death Debate sessions tied, tries adjusting the scores to his benefit. Nurse decides to forgo any sportsmanship herself and chases him down to beat him up once more. The rest of the conflict isn't shown, but Messi comments on the extent of it in the next episode, "Best Yu-Gi-Oh Monsters."
Crafty: Hey, Messi, have you seen Nurse anywhere? I haven't seen her since last episode.
Messi: D'awww, trouble in paradise, sweetie?
Crafty: We had a, um... disagreement.
Messi: Tell me about it. All that shouting and banging? You guys sound like a hateful fan-ship!
      Crafty: What?
      Messi: Oh, nothing!
    • By "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped," Nurse has had ample time to reflect on how combative she's been toward Crafty throughout Season 2. She concludes that it was birthed from her not fully understanding Crafty as a person. She puts an end to her toxicity by apologizing to him, accepting all blame for their conflict, and vowing to improve herself. Crafty ultimately does the same due to his own soul-searching, realizing that he contributed to their conflict as well and that he has his own issues to work on. Both of them make good on their promises; for Nurse specifically, the amount of times where she gets physical with Crafty lessens dramatically, and her enjoyment of his company is far more visible than ever before.
  • "Just Joking" Justification: Crafty is so adjusted to being the funny one between him and Nurse that Nurse’s own jokes sometimes fly over his head. He ends up taking her jokes at face value, and Nurse has to explain that they were never serious remarks.
    • In "The Legend of Lonk," Nurse claims that she could only purchase the alternate armors in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild by selling Crafty's Nintendo Switch. Crafty flips out until Nurse tells him it was a joke... then she continues the gag by claiming that she actually sold Messibelle for them. Alarmingly, Crafty is extremely easygoing about Messi being sold off, not paying Nurse’s second clarification any mind.
    • "Blind Hate" involves such a bizarre concept that Nurse decides to mess with Crafty a little bit with the word "ship"—as in, a fictional relationship. He just assumes that she doesn’t know what he meant by "ship."
Crafty: We don’t have time for phrasing, Nurse! We have a ship to sail!
Nurse: Ship? I thought we were drawing.
Crafty: Nurse, no, I... Ship means when... two people from a series are... well, um... When two people love each other very much—
Nurse: I was kidding, Doctor! Of course, I know what a ship is! You’re not the only one that can make jokes.
Crafty: I don’t have time for your mind games, Nurse! Just get to the art!
      Nurse: Aye aye, captain!
  • Leitmotif: Nurse Worse shares a theme song with Crafty: the main show's intro tune. It's a mischievous jazz piece lead by brass instruments, with electronic elements backing them up to give the tune a scientific flair.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Nurse actively trains to have the muscle, the toughness, and the speed to be a domineering presence in any fight—and she has the skill to use it all effectively. Often, she just needs a single punch to win in most confrontations, such as against the local Junkrat in "Pros and Comms" and Gecko in "This is Crack(ship)." What's more, "I Need A Hero Academia" reveals that she has an Infinium Heart inside her, giving her a considerable boost on all fronts. The same special reveals that she can grow even stronger thanks to her Infinium Flux form.
  • Literally Shattered Lives: "I Need A Hero Academia" establishes how Nurse came to live with Crafty. One night, just before Crafty is about to attempt suicide again, he hears someone calling for help from an open grave. It’s Nurse, and she’s half-naked, dismembered, covered in dirt, and soaked in blood. Unbeknownst to Crafty, Nurse got to this point because she had been running away from home at high speed, overwhelmed by Infinium energy. Unfortunately, that speed carried into her fall as she tripped into the grave, and the impact shattered her apart. Her critical condition is extremely significant for how it indirectly saved Crafty’s life: he became so involved in repairing Nurse that his suicidal thoughts vanished.
  • Logical Weakness: Being a machine replica, Nurse's Infinium Heart lacks some of the magical protections afforded by a real one like Crafty's. As a result, Nurse as a whole is left being very susceptible to electrical disturbances, something that Metal Crafty demonstrates on her with an EMP blast in "Let's. Get. Metal..."
  • Love at First Sight: The Crafty Crew travels to Nurse and Crafty's old high school in "School Days of Yesterpast," and there, Nurse remembers the first time in which she met Crafty. Her flashback reveals that it was on her first day in art class, which Mindstein only allowed as a manipulation tactic to keep Nurse under her roof. After sitting herself down, she noticed that the student in front of her, a younger Crafty, was struggling with a character design of his. Despite Mindstein expressly telling her not to talk to anyone, Nurse urged herself to offer a design tip to the boy, and when he liked the change, he asked if she had some more advice. She instantly lit up at his request, blushing and tearing up after meeting the first person outside of her family to treat her with kindness. And she remained attached to him since, before and after he took her in as the second Crewmate. When the flashback ends, Nurse is moved to tears, elated to have experienced a happy memory for once.
[Greta awkwardly makes her way into art class, sitting behind Colin. She notices that he's struggling with something.]
    Colin: Hrmm... Something's missing.
[Before him is a drawing of his Dr. Crafty persona... but his gloves are the same shade of green as his sweater, goggles, and the chemical vial in his left hand. Nurse hesitates to tap him on the shoulder, shuffling loudly as she does. Her mother's warning about talking with others clearly holds her back.]
Colin: If you want to say something, just say it already.
    Greta: Huh?
Colin: I can feel it. You've got something to say, right? Just get it out so your shuffling stops distracting me.
    Greta: Th-... The gloves.
    Colin: Hm? What about them?
Greta: H-here's a tip: make them pink, maybe? It-it would make the tone you're going for more lighthearted. The warm color draws attention to those expressive hands the character has.
    Colin: Hmmm...
[Colin tries applying Greta's tip. Just as she asked, the Crafty drawing's gloves are now pink.]
Colin: Huh! That actually looks pretty good. Thanks.
    Greta, blushing: N-no problem.
[Colin pauses for a moment before turning slightly to face Greta. He's smiling slightly.]
    Colin: Got anymore tips?
[Realizing that she's had her first positive interaction with someone in her entire life, Greta blushes even harder, and her eyes sparkle with intense joy. Bubbles and a pink backdrop surround her, implying that her long-standing crush on Colin has just started.]
    Greta: Yes!!
[The flashback fades to a close and returns to the present, with Nurse and Crafty. "Claire De Lune" begins to play as Nurse begins choking up as she stands beside the boy who became her life-long friend.]
Crafty: Nurse, are you all right?! You're crying!
Nurse: [blushing as she calms down] Aheh... Heh... I know. It's just... Nice to finally remember a good memory, for once.
[The two hosts exit the screen, letting "Claire De Lune" close out the art segment.]
  • MacGuffin Super-Person: As it turns out in "I Need a Hero Academia," a replica of the Infinium Heart was used in Nurse’s construction. While not the true artifact, its power is still equal to its basis, which wasn't known to exist in a completed state during Nurse's creation. Mindstein intends the artifact to be used as a power conduit to absorb the energies behind the Infinium Door, creating the perfect being. The key difference between Nurse's artificial heart and Crafty's real one is that Nurse's wasn't a post-coitus gift from an Infinia. This means she doesn't share a Psychic Link with an Infinia like Crafty does with Sasha.
  • Megaton Punch: Nurse’s favorite way to get rid of any unwanted visitors is a strong punch. One of the most notable instances of this punch in action is in "I Need a Hero Academia." During the climax, Nurse grows even stronger than usual thanks to her Infinium Heart kicking into high gear. She finishes off Screw with a powerful uppercut, sending her badly beaten sister flying out of the castle.
  • Ms. Fanservice: The show sometimes plays upon Nurse Worse’s generous curves for some fanservice. Notably, she has quite a few alternate pose sets, with each of them appealing to different kinds of eye candy—the most common is a set where her hair is undone and she wears nothing but a towel. She also has a pose set in which she wears a Grease-inspired costume, which debuted in "Grease Frightening," and a pose-set in which she wears tight-fitting exercise wear, debuting in "Now It's S(he)Hulk Time!"
  • Not So Above It All: Despite normally being the one to reel in Crafty's zaniness, there are a few moments where it's the other way around. A prime example is when she wants to use the electric shock machine in "Bikini Bodies." When Crafty refuses to let her have it, she acts like a child who's been denied candy.
  • Nice Girl: No matter what happens, she'll always make sure to show kindness to her fellow co-hosts, even the ones who sometimes annoy her like Crafty and Messi.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Due to the show's format, it's not obvious most of the time that Nurse is only five feet tall. This makes her one of the shortest characters in the cast, beaten only by Pickles. However, her power is immense. She's the resident fighter of the Crafty Crew, quite a successful one at that. And, as "I Need a Hero Academia" reveals, she runs off of an Infinium Heart, which makes her even more powerful when Nurse is placed under sufficient stress.
  • The Pollyanna: She has her limits, but Nurse is nevertheless an optimistic person by nature. Her optimism is what carries her throughout the series—not just for her own sake, but for her Crewmates.
    • Even during Season 2, when Nurse because unhealthily aggressive with Crafty, she never once suggests leaving the show. It's clear throughout her appearances before, during, and after this season that, despite her frustrations, she values and actively enjoys the show's educational aspects, always putting her best foot forward with her commentary. And even during this low period in their relationship, she still finds good things behind her time with Crafty, along with the other Crewmates. Fighting Month's Death Debate episodes showcase this quality; no matter her bickering with Crafty, which tops off their season-wide conflict, Nurse remains genuinely enthusiastic about her participation in the debates and each episode's artwork commentary.
    • "LoveCrafty" sees Nurse help Crafty through his frustrations with his past in an impromptu therapy session. She reacts strongly towards Crafty's account of his first suicide attempt and is visibly sad for him as he explains how his relationship with Sasha abruptly ended after seemingly going strong. Despite the bleakness of the subject matter, Nurse ultimately ends the episode feeling optimistic for Crafty; he finally came forward about his personal issues with someone that he's close to. For that, she's proud of him, and she correctly predicts that he will only continue to improve from there.
    • Crafty's non-Dr. Crafty-related projects are things that Nurse is always enthusiastic about—even the ones for which Crafty doesn't feel the same. "Charablanca" is the first of two episodes ("Old Project, New Look" being the next) in which Crafty and Nurse cover Green Detective, a project that Crafty shelved long ago, as they draw commissioned artwork of some of its characters. Crafty deeply regrets how much he worked on the project, neither wanting to talk about it much in the present nor being fully on-board with doing a commission of its ideas. Nurse, meanwhile, genuinely enjoys the concept; it takes her encouragement to finally get Crafty working, and she listens to his reluctant commentary on his old ideas with obvious interest. She even stresses to Crafty that his time with Green Detective was not wasted.
Crafty: [addressing the audience] As you might imagine, the results weren't exactly Reece's Pieces. And yet I seriously thought it was going to be my Magnum Opus back in the day. Needless to say, nothing ever really came of it, and I'd moved on to Fiona Frightening at that point...
[A Fiona Frightening poster appears on-screen.]
Crafty:... Though, we know what fate befell that project, as well...
[The word 'CANCELLED' stamps itself on the poster, which falls and shatters off-screen soon after.]
Nurse: Well, everyone has to start somewhere! I'm sure working on those projects helped you get to where you are now!
Crafty: Just let me be angsty, Nurse!
      Nurse: Sorry, Doctor. *Giggles*
Crafty: Well, nowadays, I look back on the project with embarrassment, like everyone does with their old artwork. And it just hit me hard today.
Nurse: Well, Doctor, as much as it's fun to watch you revert to angsty-teen mode, I think you aren't giving yourself enough credit! The failures of your past helped shape your successes of today; we all have glorious failures that lead us down a new, exciting path, and you kept going, which is what is important!
      Crafty: ... You're right, Nurse.
[A brief flashback appears on-screen as Crafty remembers the night in which he and Sasha started their ill-fated relationship...]
Crafty: ... Thank you. I probably needed that.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Throughout the first two seasons, Crafty tends to annoy or frustrate Nurse, but Nurse usually has enough restraint to keep her temper in check. However, there are times where Crafty pushes her over the edge, and she snaps.
    • The first such instance of her snapping at him comes in "Original Characterror," where Crafty demonstrates his dragon die a couple of times. Nurse questions if Crafty will use it responsibly, and in response, Crafty throws the dice at her. It ends up failing to summon a dragon, leaving a now furious Nurse perfectly unharmed. For nearly putting her life in danger, she lays the smackdown on Crafty off-screen until Crafty learns his lesson.
    • She lets Crafty have it for constantly interrupting her throughout the beginning of "A Well-Slimed Machine." He makes an earnest apology that calms her down, but then he obliviously cuts her off again, provoking Nurse into tackling him off-screen.
    • After spending Fakémon Month up to that point insisting that Crafty’s Fakemon starter is a rhinoceros and not a donkey as he claims, Nurse finally has enough in "All Grown Up." Uttering nothing but angry growls, Nurse beats Crafty over the head with a Wonky Donkey book to finally get the point across—and she’s still unsuccessful.
  • The Reliable One: Nurse proves to be a supportive presence for the Crafty Crew thanks to her fighting skills keeping the castle protected, along with her willingness to give advice and help her coworkers deal with their issues. Season 3 starts exploring the team's dynamic a lot more, with Nurse giving a pep talk to Pepper about being proud of her accomplishments in "The Art of the Con(vention)" and Nurse holding a therapy session with Crafty to tackle his mental health issues in "LoveCrafty."
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: There’s one notable time where Nurse consciously refuses to defend the castle: "A MERMAID MELODY FANDUB!!!" She stumbles upon a group of pirates frolicking about in the lab to the tune of "You Are a Pirate." Instead of fighting them off, Nurse just backs away slowly and leaves.
  • Silent Treatment: Right before she attacks Crafty for interrupting her too much in "A Well-Slimed Machine," Nurse refuses to provide any commentary until Crafty addresses her concerns.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Nurse wears a rounded pair of glasses almost all the time, and she's generally the go-to hostess for drawing advice and interesting trivia. Unlike Crafty, Nurse finished college, and, as revealed in "Pros and Comms," she earned a PhD in Psychology. Nurse also holds an enduring interest in biology, which is always stimulated by Pepper's mysterious genetics and physiology. According to Pepper in "Journey to the Forbidden Water Temple," Nurse is very thorough in her studies—a remark that makes Pepper blush as she hurries to change the subject.
  • Stout Strength: Nurse has a heavyweight Olympic weightlifter's physique—big and bulky, not just due to fat, but underlying muscle. The poster design made in "Crafty Horror Picture Show" showcases the extent of her strength, with her hoisting all of her crewmates—even the very heavy Pepper—and the Rocky Horror lips high above her shoulders. The confident grin on her face implies she's exerting very little effort to keep everyone aloft.
  • Strict Parents Make Sneaky Kids: It’s implied now and again that Nurse kept most of her personal life a secret from Mindstein, who ran an incredibly strict and abusive household. Any sign of deviation from her mother’s goals was met with violent punishment. The flashback in "GEMS! Truly Outrageous" shows Nurse sneaking out of her home at night in hopes of meeting her crush, Colin. When her sister catches her in the act, Nurse makes a point to tell Hazel not to tell their mother—unfortunately, Mindstein finds out that Nurse snuck out anyway. However, Nurse’s exact reason for sneaking out eludes Mindstein completely. When Mindstein cites that moment of disobedience from Nurse in "I Need a Hero Academia," she never focuses on why her daughter was sneaking out, only the act itself. The way she muses over the matter implies that she was completely out of touch with a young Nurse’s social life.
  • Territorial Smurfette: By Season 2's premiere, "New Season, New Friends," Nurse has grown settled into her role as the show's co-star, a role in which she can freely indulge in her crush on Crafty. To her dismay, it turns out that Crafty hired two other women to help with his spin-off segments, Pepper and Messibelle, without first consulting Nurse about their inclusion. She makes her discomfort about this arrangement very apparent throughout the episode, especially when Crafty introduces Pepper, whom Nurse shares some superficial similarities with. While she seems to come around to the two new hosts by the end of the episode (even protecting Pepper from a particularly lecherous gecko and comforting/supporting Pepper when she brings up her feelings of inadequacy about her meekness), her initial insecurity about them nevertheless serves as the catalyst for her bitter treatment of Crafty for the rest of the season.
  • Theme Naming: Her real name is Greta and her sister's name is Hazel, a clear reference to Hansel and Gretel. The reference extends past the sisters’ names, too, with the abusive Mindstein easily fulfilling the role of the witch. Also, both women are heavyset, like they've been kept well-fed.
  • Trophy Child: Nurse was born and raised to be Mindstein's greatest scientific achievement: an artificial goddess infused with Infinium technology. "The Foreshadow Game" and various moments throughout Season 3’s Cartoon Month and "I Need a Hero Academia" emphasize Mindstein's disinterest in raising Nurse — rather, she'd just experiment upon her daughter in the most painful, non-lethal ways she can manage. In response, Nurse eventually escaped her torturous living situation, and she blocked out those memories as best she could.
  • Trauma Button: As unveiled throughout Cartoon Month, Nurse suffered through an abusive childhood thanks to Dr. Mindstein, and she's utterly terrified of her past and her mother.
    • As a coping mechanism, Nurse suppressed most of her memories from that time, but Bill Cipher unearths two major memories in "Socializing is Arcane" and "GEMS! Truly Outrageous!" Both of them cause her to break down after Bill forces her to relive both, and she suffers an intense panic attack after the second.
    • Horrifyingly, when Mindstein storms the castle in "Magic Kingdom Mania," she takes advantage of Nurse's trauma. Mindstein presents herself in person to Crafty and Nurse for the first time, and she explicitly introduces herself as Nurse’s mother, causing Nurse to seize up in terror when she recognizes her abuser. With Nurse unwilling to retaliate, Mindstein successfully takes over the castle for most "I Need a Hero Academia."
    • Nurse gets a power boost in the last part of "I Need a Hero Academia," thanks to her Infinium Heart kicking in and helping her break free of captivity. However, when given the opportunity to fight Mindstein, all Nurse can bring herself to do is verbally threaten her abuser and hope she listens—even then, there's clear hesitation in Nurse's voice. She's also completely paralyzed with fear when an enraged Mindstein charges at her.
  • Undying Loyalty: No matter how annoyed she gets by his antics, Nurse will always stay by Crafty's side. Nurse claims as much in "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped," and from that point forward, her bond with him grows even stronger. Presumably, her loyalty is birthed from her crush on Crafty, but "I Need a Hero Academia" reveals a reason that runs much deeper than that: Crafty saved her life. He not only reassembled her from a nasty fall, but he unknowingly rescued her from an abusive household. She hadn't remembered the true reason behind her loyalty because she had blocked out many of her memories. Her abuser, Dr. Mindstein, resurfaces those memories in the present day. The revelation cements Nurse's devotion to Crafty, especially after she spent the entire season up to that point improving her relationship with him.
  • Virgin Power: In "Hocus Mansion," she's able to summon the Sanderson Sisters by lighting the Black Flame Candle. When Crafty asks if she’s a virgin after he failed to light the candle, she embarrassingly responds that it's none of his business.
  • Vocal Evolution: In her official debut, "The Worst Nurse," Nurse's voice was much closer to Megami33's natural cadence, while also bearing the slightest hint of a British accent. However, Megami33 soon exchanged the accent for a slightly higher, peppier voice for Nurse.
  • Weight Woe: Every now and again, Nurse hints at an insecurity about her weight. Throughout Season 2, in which her relationship with Crafty is at its most combative, Crafty tends to crack jokes about her size as a means to get back at her for treating him so rudely, and she reacts quite defensively.
    • Nurse and Crafty end "Aqua Marina" by holding a poll to decide which of them is the best host on the show. They indulge in some mutual riffing; while Crafty remains unfazed by Nurse's remarks, his insults about her actually get under her skin. She silently bares her teeth at both remarks, but it's only when Crafty attacks her weight that her teeth visibly sharpen.
[A spotlight redirects itself from Crafty to Nurse as she speaks.]
Nurse: I don't mean to disparage you, Doctor, but I think the audience likes me a lot more. Face it: I just have all the assets that you don't!
[The spotlight turns off as Nurse poses for the fans.]
Crafty: Hmph. The only asset you need is a gym membership.
[Nurse silently sneers at Crafty with sharpened teeth, doing everything she can to hold back her anger.]
Nurse: Think again, sweetie! Between the two of us, I've got all the meat, and you've got all the bones! And you know what people do with bones...
[Midway through Nurse's comeback, Crafty just rolls his eyes.]
Crafty: Oh, enlighten me! I'm sure your wasted medical degree has afforded you no end of trivia!
[Nurse bares her teeth again, but not quite as harshly as the first time.]
    • The art segment of "The Beachles" starts with Nurse and Crafty getting into an argument, and when Pepper tries getting them both to calm down, Crafty takes to hiding behind her as Nurse continues berating him. This culminates in Crafty cracking a fat joke that causes Nurse to leave in a huff.
      Pepper: EVERYONE! PLEASE, JUST STOP!!
[Crafty and Nurse instantly quiet down.]
Pepper: If... it is our day off, we should be enjoying ourselves, not wasting it by bickering with each other. O-okay...?
Crafty: [smarmily] She's right, you know.
Nurse: You're the one who dragged us out here! Just because she's the biggest, doesn't mean you can hide behind her like a shield!
Crafty: Well, I dare say you're big enough for me to do that as well.
      Nurse: ... Ugh! Hmph!
[Crafty chuckles to himself as Nurse runs off. Pepper moves away from Crafty, clearly disappointed in him.]
Crafty: Yeah, I've got comebacks to spare.
Pepper: This is setting up to be a recipe for disaster...
    • "Dumb Dingies" is the first time in which Nurse directly opens up about her body image issues. She discusses how she's recently come around to enjoying her body for what it is, especially thanks to how Crafty never makes fun of her appearance in his art. He always plays up her attractiveness wherever he can, and in turn, she hopes that him doing so will inspire someone with a similar body as hers. Unfortunately, her insecurities resurface when Crafty later makes an oblivious comment about her size in relation to his.
[Nurse's chibi is finished and is displayed onscreen. Crafty and Nurse pop up to talk about it, but Crafty looks displeased with the result.]
      Nurse: What's wrong?
Crafty: Ehhhhh, I don't feel like this turned out as well as it could have.
Nurse: Well, I like it, at least.
Crafty: Ehh, the figure. It's way too fat. Needs to be far skinnier...
      Nurse: EXCUSE ME?!?!
Crafty: ... Aaaand the outfit doesn't really work. I think it would've been better with some kind of dapper, gentlemanly one-piece!
[The camera follows Crafty as he leans over to the chibi drawing of himself.]
Crafty: Something with oh so fashionably green on white stripes!
[Offscreen, Nurse exits the lab, slamming the door on her way out. Crafty returns to Nurse's chibi drawing and sees that she's gone, and the music, which has been playing since the art production footage, abruptly stops.]
Crafty: ... Whatever has gotten into her?
  • Workout Fanservice: Before the art segment of "Now It’s S(he)Hulk Time" begins, Crafty stumbles in on Nurse exercising to a She-Hulk workout tape. Aside from Nurse gaining a pose-set of her in an exercising outfit, she gets three stills highlighting her big, well-defined assets as she stretches. Her expressions throughout them imply that she’s deliberately showing off for Crafty... who, as usual, responds with utter obliviousness.
  • You Are Fat: Early in the show Nurse would more often than not be subjected to biting comments about her largeness, sometimes even from Crafty.
