  • Always Someone Better: After Superman defeated him three times, he accepts that there will always be someone better than him.
    (Outro with Homelander): "I've accepted that I'll never be the strongest. You should too."
  • Big Eater: A Running Gag is that Goku tends to eat a lot of food due to his Saiyan physiology. His Friendship has him conjure up a lot of muffins for him to eat.
  • Blinded by the Light: Can utilize the solar flare, which can blind and stun opponents for a bit.
  • Blood Knight: Not as violent as Vegeta, but as a Saiyan, Goku practically lives for a good scrap.
  • Composite Character: His characterization is mostly based on his canonical version, but does display personality traits from his abridged version.
  • Enhanced Punch: His super Saiyan mode allows him to do his dragon fist attack. The attack cannot be blocked.
  • Fearless Fool: He shows no fear, even when facing a monster like Doomsday or Darkseid.
  • Flying on a Cloud: His intro details Goku arriving on his flying nimbus cloud.
  • Golden Super Mode: He practically codified this trope being the first Super Saiyan in the manga.
  • Henpecked Husband: He brings up his wife, Chi-Chi, in one of his default intros and how she will be unhappy because he is fighting.
  • Home Stage: The Namekian Plains, likely as a reference to the famous Namek Story Arc in Dragon Ball Z, where Goku would first become a Super Saiyan and have his famous fight against Frieza.
  • Kamehame Hadoken: One-half of the trope codifiers, his Kamehameha is in this game. His Super Saiyan transformation has one as well. Both of his fatalities have Goku vaporize the opponent with a Kamehameha Wave.
  • Leitmotif: Dragon Soul Guitar Rock from "DragonBall Z Kai".

  • Nice Guy: Even when beating some of the evilest and dangerous characters, Goku will praise them for their strength.

  • Sphere of Destruction: His Spirit Bomb technique acts as this, inflicting heavy damage on the opponent if they can't block in time. Avoiding it requires the opponent to go to the furthest corners of the stage.
  • Teleportation: Can use his Instant Transmission to appear behind or above his opponent.
  • Torso with a View: The Final Dragon Fatality has Goku punch through the opponent's abdomen, then retract it before finishing them off with a Kamehameha Wave.
  • Worthy Opponent: Regards Beerus and Superman as this.

    Majin Buu 

Name: Majin Buu

Playstyle: Buu-ble Gum (Zoner/Poker)

  • Big Eater: His appetite is enormous.
  • Home Stage: The Realm of the Kais, home of the Supreme Kais and the site of the final battle against Kid Buu. This stage is shared with Kid Buu.
  • Leitmotif: "Majin Buu's Theme" from DragonBall FighterZ.
  • Lost Food Grievance:
    • Just like in the original Death Battle, Kirby ends up provoking Majin Buu into fighting him by the stealing of his sweets.
    • Just like back in Dragon Ball, he fight Beerus over pudding.
  • Palette Swap:
    • Innocent Buu (default form)
    • Evil Buu color scheme
    • Miss Buu color scheme
    • Master Roshi beard and sunglasses
    • Green swimtrunks with purple flowers
  • Real Men Wear Pink: His body may be pink, but he is one of the deadliest opponents the Dragon Ball heroes have ever fought.
  • The Rival: With Kirby.
  • Rubber Man: Majin Buu's body is described as having the consistency of bubblegum. This allows him to stretch his body or pull off pieces of it to use as a weapon.
  • Shout-Out: Majin Buu's Friendship, Pure Imagination, is based off of the titular song from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
  • Stripped to the Bone: The Blob Fatality has Buu turn into a giant pink blob that engulfs the opponent, with the opponent futilely trying to struggle their way to freedom. Buu then reshapes his body around the opponent before belching out their skeleton, which still bears chunks of flesh clinging to them.
  • Transformation Ray: Majin Buu's Transfiguration Beam allows him to turn his targets into an object of choice, usually food.
    • His Turn into Candy Super Move has Buu turn the opponent into a flat, graham cracker-like cookie version of themselves that he catches, puts into his mouth, and chews on before spitting them out and changing them back. If this move completely depletes their health, Buu will instead swallow them.
    • His Friendship scene has him turn the stage into a land of candy similar to the Chocolate Room in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
    • His Rival cutscene has him turn Goombas, Koopas, and two other combatants into candy.
    • One of his Fatalities has Buu turn his opponent into a chocolate figurine he takes bites out of before turning them back, leaving them as a mutilated corpse with the appropriate missing body parts and bleeding bite wounds.

    Kid Buu

  • Confusion Fu: Kid Buu's playstyle revolves around this, fighting viciously and to-the-point with attacks that offer astonishing damage and mixup potential, making it nearly impossible to tell where he will strike next.
  • Feral Villain: Kid Buu is literally a mindless monster that only knows to kill and destroy. He only cares about his own entertainment and the resulting mayhem he causes. He's so feral that he can't even speak outside of laughs and grunts, which is why he never has any dialouge with the other characters.
  • Home Stage: The Realm of the Kais, home of the Supreme Kais and the site of the final battle against Kid Buu. This stage is shared with Majin Buu.
  • Leitmotif: “Buu is Fighting” by Bruce Faulconer
  • Orifice Invasion: Kid Buu's Overstuffed Fatality has him liquify his body and force himself down his opponent's throat, expanding inside of them until they explode.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Kid Buu desires nothing but the destruction of everything around him, making him more of a pure force of nature than a character.

    Hercule Satan

Playstyle: Martial Arts Bluster (Joke/Trickster)

  • Butt-Monkey: Pretty much everyone makes fun of him.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Not as much as the Z Fighters, but he did punch through the side of a bus due to his immense training regime.
  • Cowardly Lion: While he's normally cowardly, he definitely has the heart of a hero.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Claimed to be the Worlds Greatest Warrior by nearly the entire world. While he's no slouch by Muggle standards, he's an ant compared to the Z Fighters. He also took credit for beating the mastermind in Majin Buu's ending.
  • Home Stage: The World Martial Arts Tournament Ring. Mr. Satan has won the championship title of the World Martial Arts Tournament many times, though mostly because the Z-Fighters lose on purpose against him.
  • Kidnapped by the Call: He was forced by Majin Buu to attend the tournament.
  • Leitmotif: Hercule's theme from "Dragonball Z".
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: He is very powerful for a standard human, it's just that the Z Fighters are leagues above him in terms of power.
  • Palette Swap:

    • Future Mr. Satan, who's bald
  • The Rival: With Dan Hibiki.
  • Super-Speed: While he's certainly nowhere near as quick as the Z Fighters, he's able to move faster than the eye can see.
  • Super-Strength: Though not on the level of the Z Fighters, he is strong enough to punch through the side of a bus with ease and pull four of them at once.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: In his ending, he actually defeated the Mastermind and truly saved the world.

    Android 18

Title: Artificial Human #18

Playstation: Android Annihilator (Rushdown/Zoner)

  • Big Damn Heroes: In her ending, she manages to wipe out Skynet's forces all on her own.
  • Cyborg: She was a human woman turned into an android with infinite energy.
  • Everyone Has Standards: She's disgusted that Medusa had Crona, just to experiment on them. Considering how she and 17 were experimented on by Dr. Gero, this is understandable.
    "Someone had a child just to use them as their guinea pig?!"
  • Home Stage: The Red Ribbon Ruins, symbolizing how she was forcefully turned into a cyborg by a Red Ribbon Army scientist.
  • Leitmotif: "My 18th Magic" from Dragon Ball Kai.
  • Palette Swap:
    • First Awakening Outfit
    • White shirt, black vest, pearl necklace and black gloves
    • World Martial Arts Tournament Outfit

    Master Roshi

  • Dirty Old Man: One of the most well-known examples in fiction. He'll take any opportunity to leer at ladies, and his interactions with Jiraiya have him complain that his books have no illustrations!
  • Everyone Has Standards: Master Roshi is a shameless pervert that makes no effort to hide it, not even having any qualms about making advances towards younger women like Yang. That said, he is put off by Esdeath for her insane demeanor or Makima's creepiness, and he clearly draws the line at forcing women to perform sexual acts, as shown when he expresses disgust towards The Deep in his special outro towards Starlight.
  • Girl on Girl Is Hot: His reaction to finding out Tracer is gay.
  • Home Stage: Kame Island, the place he calls home.
  • Kamehame Hadoken: He did create the Kamehameha after all.
  • Ki Manipulation: How he uses the Kamehameha.
  • Leitmotif: Master Roshi The Infinite Master by HalusaTwin.
  • Limit Break: Master Kamehameha, which can only be used in Buff Mode. Roshi charges ki in his palms, then fires a blast of energy at the opponent that, on contact, will push the opponent straight to a conveniently-placed moon, causing it to blow up and inflict massive amounts of damage.
  • Palette Swap:

  • The Rival: With Jiraya.
  • Shock and Awe: The Thunder Shock Surprise has Roshi fire a short-range beam of yellow energy that does electrical damage to the opponent and can briefly stun them.
  • Speed Echoes: Can dodge an attack at high-speed while leaving an afterimage behind.
  • Super Mode: Buff Up, which increases Master Roshi's muscle mass, giving him a boost in strength and speed while increasing the range of his special attacks. After a few seconds, he will return to his original form with a lengthy recovery animation.
  • Supernatural Sealing: The Evil Containment Wave has Master Roshi fire a great, emerald-green shockwave that spans the stage and repeatedly hits the opponent. If this successfully KO's the opponent, they will be sealed in an electric rice cooker.

    Beerus 

Name: Beerus

Age: 200+ Million Years

Race: Unknown

Title: Universe 7's God of Destruction

Chosen Voice Actor: Jason Douglas

Stage: Beerus' Home Planet

Playstyle: Destructive Wrath (Zoner>Agility)

  • Above Good and Evil: Beerus' job maybe to destroy planets, but it is necessary for the sake of cosmic balance.
  • Big Eater: His appetite rivals that of the Saiyans.
  • Cessation of Existence: Hakai is a signature technique of Gods of Destruction that is used to erase the target completely from existence. Beerus uses this technique in one of his Fatalities against the opponent.
  • The Gadfly: Willingly taunts Galaxia for her defeat at his hands.
  • High on Catnip: Fitting for his biology, he ends up with this for his Friendship.
  • Home Stage: His Home Planet, which is also used as a training ground for Goku and Vegeta.
  • Ki Manipulation: He can utilize God Ki.
  • Leitmotif: Beerus’ Madness from “DragonBall Super”.
  • Lost Food Grievance: Still hasn't forgiven Galaxia for disintegrating his ice cream...or Majin Buu for the pudding incident, for that matter.
  • No Body Left Behind: One of Beerus' Fatalities has him use Hakai to completely erase the opponent from existence, body and soul, disintegrating them into nothingness.
  • Palette Swap:

  • Person of Mass Destruction: More like God, but the shoe still fits.

    Broly 

Name: Broly

Age: 48

Race: Saiyan

Title: The Legendary Super Saiyan

Chosen Voice Actor: Johnny Yong Bosch (formerly Vic Mignogna)

Stage: Planet Vampa

Playstyle: Legendary Rage (Heavy/Unique)

  • Breath Weapon: His Gigantic Roar super move.
  • Cooldown Hug: His friendship, “What Are Friends For?” has Lemo and Cheelai give Broly a hug as he is loosing control of his anger, calming him down.
  • Friend to All Living Things: The deer from his Death Battle against the Hulk show up again in his intro, and are scared off again by his opponent.
  • Gentle Giant: Broly’s one of the largest fighters in the (hypothetical) roster, but it’s clear he would rather not fight, something he says to Banner in his Rival Cutscene.
  • Gathering Steam: Broly has a Rage Meter that builds up as the fight progresses. The more it’s filled up, the more damage his special attacks do. However, if it fills up completely, it will drain away some seconds later with some of his health. This loss of health is negated by using transformations.
  • Golden Super Mode: To be expected of a Saiyan. He can enter his Legendary Super Saiyan form when his Rage Meter is red.
  • Home Stage: Planet Vampa, the planet Broly was sent to as a baby and now calls home.
  • Ki Manipulation: Majority of his super moves and his fatalities use these, as to be expected of a Dragonball character.
  • Leitmotif: “Broly’s Theme” from DragonBall FighterZ.
  • Palette Swap:
    • New Canon Appearance ala “Dragon Ball Super”
    • Original Broly w/regal garbs

Playstyle: Grace of a God (All-Rounder)

  • Black-and-White Insanity: He earnestly believes that all mortals are evil and that the gods should be exterminating them. Naturally, not many are willing to agree with him.
  • Dark Is Evil: He is called Goku Black and is an Omnicidal Maniac.
  • Fantastic Racism: He despises mortals, believing they are a threat to the multiverse and that they should all be exterminated.
  • Grand Theft Me: Stole Goku's body to claim the Saiyan's power for himself.
  • Home Stage: A Ruined City in Universe 10, representing how Goku Black laid waste to cities to massacre mortals, and is also the universe Zamasu originated from.
  • Hypocrite: Plenty of fighters are more than willing to point out how his plans involve him taking a mortal's body or how he's just as cruel and monstrous as the mortals he claims they are.
    (Esdeath's Intro): "I'm the savage one? Have you looked at yourself lately?"
    (Aizen's Intro): “You call yourself a god, but take the form of a mortal? How sad.”
    (Omni-Man's Intro): "You call us mortals Barbarians when you're wiping out races left and right?"
    (Homelander's Outro): "You say I'm pathetic when you're copying another guy's homework?"
  • Leitmotif: Goku Black’s Theme from “DragonBall FighterZ”.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: He seeks nothing short of the death of all mortals. He seeks the Infinity Gauntlet to complete said task.

  • Composite Character: This Gogeta combines aspects of himself throughout the Dragon Ball franchise and uses all of their techniques. He uses both the Super Saiyan Blue form from Dragon Ball Super: Broly and the Super Saiyan 4 form from Dragon Ball GT, has the standard Super Saiyan form from Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn as one of his costumes, one of his Fatalities is the exact same technique he would use to defeat Janemba from the latter film and his Friendship has him perform the same confetti trick he used on Omega Shenron from GT.
  • Fusion Dance: He is created by the Trope Namer, the fusion dance.
  • Home Stage: Janemba's Final Arena, where Gogeta would fight against and defeat Super Janemba.
  • Leitmotif: Gogeta’s Theme from “DragonBall FighterZ”.
  • Palette Swap:
    • Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan
    • Standard Super Saiyan
    • Color 8 from FighterZ
    • Color 6 from FighterZ

  • The Rival: To Vegito.
  • Stance System: Gogeta can switch between Super Saiyan Blue and Super Saiyan 4. The former has plenty of energy-based attacks, but prefers a swift offense to a solid defense, while the latter offers a more basic fighting style that optimizes defense and building meter for powerful Supers rather than over-the-top agility/offense.
  • Worthy Opponent: Naturally regards Superman as this, with Supes pushing him to his limit.

    Frieza
