Cadence

The Player Character and drum major.

Tropes:

Tom Rizzotto

Voice Actor: Joe Goffeney

Tropes:

  • Class Clown: Even his official profile says so!
  • Fun T-Shirt: With video game hearts on it.
  • Geek: For video games and comic books, if you couldn't tell by the video game hearts on his Fun T-Shirt.
  • Instrumental Weapon: Attach a knife to the end of Tom's trombone and what do you get? A trombayonet! He uses it to fend off Mr. Wiley on his route.
  • Love Interest: One of the dateable characters.

Peter Dang

Voice Actor: Jonathan David Bullock

A talented trumpet player who played with the Red Angels Drum Corps, which only feeds into his ego. Dating Felicity at the start of the game.

Tropes:

Clark Winter

Voice Actor: Joe Goffeney

The clarinet section leader.

Tropes:

  • Academic Alpha Bitch: Or, the marching band equivalent of this. He's also tied with Peter for second in class when it comes to overall GPA.
  • Love Interest: One of the dateable characters.
  • Middle Child Syndrome: As the middle child of three, Clark never got much attention from his parents, resulting in him wanting to succeed in order to be noticed.
  • The Perfectionist
  • Regretful Traitor: Ends up regretting telling Mr. Wiley the group's plan to escape band camp after he goes too far with his instructing.
  • The Resenter: Clark resents Cadence for winning drum major over him despite his superior conducting skill.
  • Serious Business: Everyone except Peter seems to take marching band seriously, but Clark takes it to another level. He has a very long list of essentials to bring to band, runs a website dedicated to the clarinet section of his high school marching band, and offers to take over the duties of people equal to or higher on the chain of command than he. Not out of hunger for power, but out of dedication to seeing the band succeed.
  • The Starscream: Not exactly to a Big Bad, but he's a section leader and not a drum major, and openly talks about how he should have the position instead of Cadence.
  • Stoic Spectacles
  • Teacher's Pet: Unfortunately for him, Mr. Wiley doesn't seem to return the affection.
  • Tsundere: Confirmed by the dev team themselves

Samuel Robinson

Voice Actor: Devon Kay

The saxophone section leader.

Tropes:

Poptart

Voice Actor: Jared Raman

Mellophone

Tropes:

  • Abusive Parents: Poptart's mother was highly sensitive to sound and often abused her son for every noise that he would make. And his dad was unwell so he couldn't exactly do much to help.
  • Given Name Reveal: In his route, you find out his real name is Melvin.
  • Instant Expert: Has never played a video game in his life. If Cadence gives him the opportunity, he easily puts three experienced players at a disadvantage in a fighting game on his first try.
  • Love Interest: One of the dateable characters.
  • New Meat: To a lesser degree than Alex. It's his first year in marching band, but not his first year in high school or his first time playing an instrument in a band.
  • No Name Given
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: He loves Pop-Tarts.
  • Shrinking Violet
  • Sweet Tooth: Enjoys a full plate of soft-serve ice cream with literally every topping that the place has.
Poptart: We can have ice cream any time we want!
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Pop-Tarts!

Doug Hickey

Voice Actor: Richard Barcenas

Play the largest bass drum in the band.

Tropes:

Garth Dubois

Voice Actor: Joseph Ryan

The color guard captain and band president.

Tropes:

  • The Ace
  • Chick Magnet: According to Cadence.
  • Extracurricular Enthusiast
  • Gentleman and a Scholar
  • He Knows Too Much: Garth discovers Mr. Wiley's secret and is subsequently kidnapped by the latter, resulting in his absence for the second week of camp.
  • Love Interest: One of the dateable characters. Subverted, as he's actually gay.
  • Sorry, I'm Gay: Cadence gets rejected on his route because it turns out he's gay. Awkward.
  • The Resenter: Heavily hinted at. His usually pleasant and polite demeanor breaks briefly after Peter gives up band president to his runner-up. And according to Sabrina, he "[said] something about wanting to rip him a new one after he did tha[t]."

Victor Wiley

Voice Actor: Mark Coutu

The band director. Alumnus of the marching band he now leads, and the school that the marching band is from.

Tropes:

  • Cuteness Proximity: Regarding the band Mascot, Bandit, who is also his pet raccoon.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Seems to push the students hard for the sake of marching band. Except other methods turn out to be shady dealings, kidnapping, borderline child abuse and in a couple of the routes, attempted murder.

Susie

Voice Actor: Emily Woolf

Cadence's best friend in the band.

Sabrina

Voice Actor: Xandra

Co-Captain of the Color Guard.

Tropes:

  • Identical Twin Mistake: For Twin Day, Sabrina dresses up like Marian, thus resulting in some hijinks over confused identity.

Marian

Voice Actor: Melody Muze

The pit section leader and band librarian.

Tropes:

  • Deadpan Snarker
  • Team Mom: The pit calls her "mom" and she's fine with it.
  • Shout-Out: To The Music Man. Marian, the librarian, has a prickly outward demeanor but a caring inside, just like the female lead of the musical. The pit has the instruments closest to a piano that you can get in a marching band, and the character from the musical is a piano teacher. The musical centers around a conman's guarantee of a marching band, and guess what this Marian is in...

Felicity

Voice Actor: Mello-Knight

A flautist. Dating Peter at the start of the game.
