Main Cast

    Erwin Gates
A beautiful and successful man. He is rumored to be the genius of his generation and well as the richest man alive. However, behind his charming smile, something really sad is hidden. He wants the Team to go to Perk City and infiltrate Evil's lab to steal their weapons.
  • Anti-Hero: The manipulative type.
  • Cute but Troubled: More like handsome but troubled.
  • Did Not Get the Girl: With May in the Good End, as they prefer to stay friends, for now.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Justified in his route, as he doesn’t want May's sympathy not because he’s too full of himself to accept it, but because he’s troubled by her resemblance to April.
  • Easily Forgiven: By Kent in his Good End. Inverted in his Bad End.
  • Gentleman Thief: Deconstructed. He’s charming and healthy but can’t help stealing from people and even his own teammates who call him out for it. He feels really bad about it.
  • Greed: Loves money and is the reason he didn’t go to April's raid. He couldn’t understand why she wanted to fight just for fun and friendship.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Played with, depending the route. He seems to care about his teammates but doesn’t hesitate to lie, abuse or manipulate them to advance his plans.
  • Manipulative Bastard: And how!
  • Non-Action Guy: As The Smart Guy of the Team, he’s totally useless in a fight.
  • Official Couple: with April.
  • Opposites Attract : The reason he loves April so much, as she was kind, encouraging and strong while he was not.
  • Pet the Dog: During Blake and Kent's routes' Good End for both characters. He also does this for May in Gunn's Good End.
  • Power of Trust: What saves him in his Good End. Word of God stated that Erwin's route is more about this than love, as he can’t forget April for now.
  • What Beautiful Eyes!: Played for laughs as he considers himself to have them.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Gunn. They knew each other since they were teenagers and started adventuring together. Doesn't stop Gunn from wanting to break his nose if Erwin goes too far.
  • You Should Have Died Instead: Thinks of Blake this way and blames him for not saving April, although he is remorseful that he did not go with her. Takes this up to eleven during Gunn's Bad End as he tries to murder him.
  • You Remind Me of X: May reminds him of April way too much, especially when compared to the others.
  • Parental Neglect: His parents were crippled by debt thanks to their gaming addiction, never really looked for him and disappeared violently when he turned sixteen. He doesn’t seems to miss them.
  • Replacement Goldfish: In his Bad Ending, May becomes this for him.
  • Shipper on Deck: He seems to be this in Kent's route, but possibly just to tease him.

    Gunn Rose
The priest and heart of the team. He’s kind of morbid but he’s a really good healer. He lived at Perk (in his parents' basement, per Word of God) and works as a priest. He wants the Team to go to Death Pics because he said so.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Sometimes, the team calls him "Rose". It’s both his penname and last name. "Rose" also means "Pink" in French.
  • Black Comedy: Thanks to his morbid and very graphical obsession with injuries and deaths.
  • Cassandra Truth: Due to his tendency to exaggerate, some players felt he didn’t tell the truth about the creatures of darkness. Turns out he was actually pretty realistic about it.
  • Creepy Good: Has fantasies about resurrecting his teammates and gets bored if nobody gets injured. However, he cares a lot for them and wants to help them move on from April’s death.
  • Hidden Depths: Per Word of God, he’s really good with children and dresses as Santa for Christmas. He is also an incredible singer and artist. Also, he admits that he has some struggles with his Teammates after the death of April.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Wears black clothes with a little skull but is definitely the least screwed up member of the Team.
  • Demonic Possession: Actually averted with him in all the routes, as he is the Only Sane Man in the Team.
  • Gentle Giant: Doesn’t look like this but is actually a really nice man.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: With black. His magic wand looks awfully like a magical girl wand too.
  • Team Dad: A very weird example. Nobody looks at him as such due to his morbid speech, but he is this to Blake and helps him to confront his sister in Gabby's rout. He also calls out Erwin when he goes too far in his shenanigans.
  • The Medic: Medic mage to be exact.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Erwin, who he threatens a lot, but in the end doesn't actually do anything to.

    Kent Kentson Son of Kent
A lovable young man from the Winter village, in the north. He is a Berserker Class, yet hates to fights excepts in necessarily cases. He’s such a pacifist that he prefers to go to the Utopia Maker (sort of parlement supposed to found accords between the different lands to avoid war) to make peace with Evil than fight him.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack! : He doesn’t like to fight but when he does…
  • Alternate Identity Amnesia: Doesn’t remember what he's done under the influence of Berserker!Kent. Ultimately subverted, as he does remember but couldn’t accept it as true.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Kent is a sweetheart but don’t try to threaten him or his friends. Or kick him in the back. Or lie to/hide things from him. Or kiss May in front of him.
  • Broken Pedestal: For two people: April and his father. It’s downplayed for April, as he realizes she'd hid things from him but he still cares for her. It’s implied for his father in the Good End but played straight in the Bad End.
Berserker!Kent: [to Erwin] You’re no different than my dad. I remember now. I remember it so clearly. They had refused dad’s request. Every. Single. One. He was furious. He told them to accept or they’ll all be dead. Of course, my father could have done this easily but he had me to do this.
  • Cute and Psycho: Mostly more cute than psycho, but isn’t aware of the psycho part.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Was trained by his father to become the perfect soldier who slaughtered everyone in their path, despite him disliking it. His mother, a kind woman who tried to teach him the beauty of life, died when he was fourteen. He eventually decided to leave his dad after being sent on a mission and learned to use his power to save people instead of killing them. When he came back to his father, said father was disgusted to see his son turned into a peaceful man and tried to make him like before by using him to fight in countless battles and destroy the UM. This resulted in split personalities, his Berserker side and his regular one.
  • Demonic Possession: Falls under the control of Evil during his route and Erwin's.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: With Blake, though it’s zigzagged as they were once close but became more distant after April’s death. Their bond can be restored in some Ends.
  • Freak Out: Has this reaction when the group arrives at the UM and found everyone dead. He eventually gets better, depending on the ending.
  • Friend to All Living Things: His hobby is taming animals. He even has a friendly snow fox, Foxy, who is very fond of him.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Subverted. He seems modest, but it’s actually because he can’t remember what he has done as a warrior.
  • I Am a Monster: Quotes this at the UM. Surprisingly, it’s Berserker!Kent who does this.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Oh boy, being a Pollyanna with Values Dissonance doesn’t help him at all.
Kent: "[…] Didn’t you tell me there is a prophecy in your family about [that you are a Chosen One]?"
Blake:" Yeah, but I think it's fake."
Kent: "I see. Well, that’s too bad."
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Was this for April, because he knew his love couldn’t be reciprocated. Didn't stop him for being jealous of Erwin. Totally averted in Kent’s Bad End. Poor May.
  • Jekyll & Hyde: You have Kent, the joyful and peaceful man and you have Berserker!Kent, a violent warrior who will cut into pieces those who stand in his way. Worse, they aren’t aware of each other and the Team exploits it. A lot. In his route, you’ll have to break the status quo, whatever the consequences may be.
  • Laughing Mad: Usually, his laughter is sincere but seeing May gets kissed by Erwin and learning the truth about his Hyde personality sets him off.
  • Missing Mom: In the chronology posted on the blog of Makiokuta, you can learn that his mother died when he was fourteen. The reason is unknown but it’s probably from illness.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Happens in both in his Good Ending when May tries to wake him up from Evil's influence and in his Bad End, after killing all the party’s members.
  • Pet the Dog: Has these moments with Blake in his Good End.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Every time he’s in "fighting" mode. Or extremely upset. Or happy (maybe).
  • Reluctant Warrior: Or so he thinks he is. Played straight in his Good End.
  • Sleep Cute: If Kent has a good bond with May during the event at the inn and the player chooses the right option, this may happen.
  • Split-Personality Merge: In his route, this will happen if the bond between May and Kent is strong enough. But if it doesn’t…
  • Sweet Tooth: Likes cookies with milk.
  • The Pollyanna: He rarely is down, is always cheerful and try to be positive even in the worst situations, but can turn out to be insensitive. Doesn’t mean he isn’t realistic. At least, most of the time. He can turn into a Stepford Smiler in his route and Gabby’s Bad End in some situations.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Poor Kent, he doesn’t realize that his own Teammates are lying to him about his capacity to go Berserker and uses it to their advantage… Such as defeating monsters, boss or breaking walls without his knowledge or consent.
  • Values Dissonance: Justified in-universe as he comes from the North, which is a different culture than that of Perk.
Kent: "See, Summer Village kept stealing our croups in retaliation for us stealing their daughters; not very nice."
  • Yandere: Berserker!Kent is implied to be this for May in his route. Played Straight in his Bad End.
Berserker!Kent: You are mine and only mine. I won’t let Erwin or this other part of me have you now: he is gone forever.
  • You Remind Me of X: Subverted. He is persuaded in his route that April would have chosen the same option as May, but clearly considers them as two different people.

    Blake Ember
A knight and a Chosen One after the prophecy of the Ember family who said that the first orange haired son to be birth will be a Hero. However, his lack of self estime is really screwing his skills. He wants to lead the team to the Castle Evil, but nobody is really listening his proposition
  • Anti-Hero: With a complete lack of self-esteem.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Subverted and justified. He isn’t the youngest (it’s Kent actually) but is treated as such by the Team, mostly due to his lack of skill and confidence.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason why he admired April so much and why he falls in love with May in his route.
  • Break the Cutie: In his Bad End, Erwin throws a explosive that almost kills him. Realizing it, he turns on the group, frozen and heartbroken by their betrayal. The Dragon he was fighting ends up eating him.
  • Butt-Monkey: Played for drama. He’s actually bullied and mocked by his peers and is really upset that nobody is taking him seriously.
  • Can't Catch Up: Feels this way toward April’s skill.
  • Character Development: In his good route, he becomes a confident young knight who leads the Team to defeat the Big Bad.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Since his birth, he was put under a lot of pressure as a Chosen One. His family and adopted family died because of his big sister who is also constantly putting him down. He lived as a runaway until he met April, who is the first one to care about him and cheer him up. He felt good and useful in their team. However, he freaks out as April and him fight a Dragon and he watched her being eaten alive, unable to do anything. Since then, everybody became distant from him at best or started bullying him (again) at worst.
  • Demonic Possession: Averted in his Good End thanks to The Power of Love, but played straight in Gabby's route.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: With Kent, but it’s zigzagged as they were once close but became more distant after April’s death. Their bond can be restored in some Good Ends.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: Aspired to be this. Becomes it in his Good End and implied to be in Erwin's route.
  • The Power of Love: During his Good End he saves May from her Demonic Possession thanks to this.
  • Sleep Cute: Like Kent, this may happen at the inn if you asked him to sleep in the bed instead of on the floor.
  • Survivor Guilt: He feels terrible about the fact he survived the dragon that ate April.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: He’s the most low level of the Team but he manages to kill a Dragon in his Good End along with the Team and then leads it to fight Evil.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Realizes it thanks to May in his route and in Erwin's.

    Gabriel (Gabby) Ember
A hot mage who has a thing for fire. She became a Hero to clean up her reputation. She is the big sister of Blake but her relationship with him isn’t as bright as she would like it to be. She wants to burn down Hick Village, where Evil came from, in hopes of causing him to want revenge and showing himself.
  • Action Girl: Indeed, as a mage.
  • Aloof Big Sister: Exaggerated toward Blake as she turns really abusive.
  • Anti-Hero: The violent version.
  • Character Development: In her Good End, she decides to make efforts to change her behavior towards her little brother and become a big sister he can be proud of.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Accidentally burned down her parents' house, only managing to save her little brother from the flames. She burned down the house (this time willingly) of their adoptive parents because they were abusive to them. She then became an outlaw as she kept burning down village on fire for fun, until she had a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Demonic Possession: In her Bad End, she falls under the control of Evil. Happen also in Erwin's route along with her teammates (save for Gunn and May).
  • Femme Fatale: Played for laughs, as she tried to be this when flirting with May but end up embarrassed by what she said.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: A platonic example. She was this with April, as she was jealous of her perfection and her relationship with her brother.
  • Lesbian Option: If you pick her route.
  • Meaningful Name: Ember, like the fire she loves to use… A bit too much.
  • Only Sane Woman: Averted. Her only tactics consist of Attack! Attack! Attack! with Fire.
  • Pet the Dog: As horrible as she can be with her brother, she can compliment him on occasion.
  • Reformed, but Not Tamed: She embraces the career of Hero but still loves to destroy things, especially with fire.
  • Scars Are Forever: Has them on her shoulders.
  • Sleep Cute: Parodied since she snores really loud when she sleeps.
  • Token Lesbian: Is the only female character to be into girls and only girls.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Can be the Tomboy to Girly Girl May.
  • Tough Love: Zig-zagged for Blake. She loves him but is annoyed by his lack of capability and self-esteem. She pushes and bullies him in hopes that he will get more aggressive but at the same time, knows deep down it’s definitely not the best approach.

    May
A young woman who started to work as a barmaid three days before meeting the World Class Heroes. She is quite observant of the group and tries to keep up with them during the journey. However, she quickly finds out the World Class Heroes aren’t what their reputation indicated…
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys|Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Played with depending who you choose to pursue.
    • Gabby is the lesbian variant of this and is played straight.
    • Kent seems be the latter, then subverted, then ultimately double subverted in his Good End.
    • The latter is played straight for Blake.
    • Gunn seems to be the former at first, then subverts it as you get to know him.
    • Erwin is the former played straight.
  • Broken Pedestal: Downplayed for the majority of the World Class Heroes as they are not what she imagined. Straight in the case of Erwin.
  • Demonic Possession: Can be a victim of this in Evil's ending. Otherwise, she escapes this fate, but it doesn't mean she won't have further problems…
  • Did Not Get the Boy: In Erwin's Good End, this happens but it’s actually a good thing as they decided they are better as friends.
  • Extreme Doormat: Averted. She may be introverted but don’t you dare kiss her without her consent!
Erwin, after being kicked in the groin: gnhnnnnnhhhhhg I guess I deserved it.
  • Fate Worse than Death: In Kent and Gunn’s Bad endings.
    • In Kent's, Berserker!Kent, under the influence of Evil, kills everybody save for May. Once he regains his composure, he learns he's the one who killed his friends and breaks, leaving Berserker!Kent, who is a huge Yandere toward May, in full control.
    • In Gunn's, the Team can’t work together to save May who suffers the same fate as April. Erwin breaks and everyone starts to kill each other while Gunn can only watch the massacre of his friends, unable to save them. May get vomited out by the Dragon and put in a coma by Gunn, who is the only one to stay alive. He tries everything he could to bring her back to life, only to realize that he can’t do anything to save her.
Gunn: I’m all alone, isn’t it?
  • Good Parents: She does really loves her family. She mentions them on the start of her journey and has a photo of her mother in her wallet.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: Her default and canon name is May, but you can change it while she introduces herself to the World Class Heroes.
  • Identical Stranger: Is this to April and is the reason why she is approached by the World Class Heroes in the first place.
  • Meaningful Name: If not changed, as May is the month after April.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Does this in Kent, Gunn and Gabby's Bad Ends. In each of them, she tried to protect them which triggered the bad side of the character instead of the good one. Can also count as one in Erwin's Bad End. Instead of telling him the truth, she decides to embrace his madness and become the new April.
  • Only in It for the Money: Subverted, it was her first motivation to go the castle with the group before she Jumped at the Call. Also justified since she dreams of being a Hero and needs money to attend Hero Academy. No, not this one.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: She is the Blue Oni of April, being more reserved and less hot-headed than the ex-leader.
  • The Protagonist
  • Protagonist Journey to Villain: Can become this in the Evil Ending if the bond with her crush is too fragile.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Reacts to everyone like this a lot since she is the Only Sane Woman of the band. It’s both played for laughs and for drama in all the routes, but not for the same reasons. Can also be played straight for her if she refuses to welcome the character who came in her room at the inn because she prefers to sleep, especially if the character is Blake or Kent.

    April Fool
The deceased leader of World Class Heroes. She was a strong and brave girl who believed in everyone, though it resulted in her death.

Minor Characters

Kent's father, Kent son of Uruguyson
The chief of Winter Village. He is a very powerful Berserker who asked Erwin to take his son in their quest to defeat Evil. He has his own agenda for Kent.
  • Berserker
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: His wife, while she strongly disagreed with what he was doing to their son, kept loving him, implying he was at least respectful to her.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Can’t understand why his son is so peaceful.
  • The Ghost: He never appears in the game, but is mentioned by Kent (and potentially Erwin) a couple of times.
  • Good Parents: Subverted. He trained his son since he was young to be a killing machine, despite said son not liking it.
  • Hunk

  • Opposites Attract: Was married to a gentle and peaceful woman while himself is a power Hungry bloodthirsty warrior..

    The King
The fourteenth, apparently. He is an old senile man who mutters a lot.
  • Flat Character: He is just a senile old king who sent the Heroes to fight Evil.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Zig-zagged. He may had decided to summon the World Class Heroes to defeat the Big Bad, but besides giving them his blessing, he didn’t do much to help them.
  • Squick: In-Universe example. He kisses the forehead of his heroes to bless them. But everybody is disgusted by this since he drools…

    Foxy
The snow fox pet of Kent who never leaves his side.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": Foxy the Fox. It’s apparently because Kent sucks at thinking of names.
  • Empathy Pet: Goes Berserk at the same time as Kent.
  • Flat Character: She is just there as an anesthetic. She isn’t even named in the game and doesn’t do anything much besides comforting Kent when he feels down and fighting by his side when needed.
  • Shipper on Deck: In Kent's route, she seems quite happy that Kent got a girlfriend.
