Find a Trope:
openThe perils of contradicting an Evil Overlord
A lieutenant of the Evil Overlord takes issue with one of his master's policies or whatnot. The Evil Overlord responds either by executing the lieutenant on the spot (being dropped in the Shark Pool is a favorite method) or having him dragged off to some horrible fate. The Evil Overlord then asks the lieutenant's immediate subordinate about his thoughts on the matter. The subordinate wisely falls in line.
openNothing is as it seems
Movie, anime, tv show etc, is lighthearted, funny and colorful etc., besides fact, that is about something depressive. Example: 8 episode of anime Paranoia Agent is about suicidal club, but this episode is rather cheerful rathen depressive. This is similar to Esoteric Happy Ending trope.
But, that can be otherwise: something has dark tone, but is about something optimistic.
Edited by Seventy1openThe endgame goes faster.
Someone has a task or a quest to carry out, and starts out very slowly before speeding up near the end. He might spend the first half getting maybe a quarter of his work done, and completes the majority of it during the later stages.
For example, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry and his friends are on a quest to destroy Voldemort's horcruxes. It takes them months to track down and destroy Slytherin's locket, and then a few more months before they locate and destroy Hufflepuff's cup, Ravenclaw's diadem, and Nagini the snake in less than one day.
openInappropriate Food Roasting
Is there a trope regarding something catching fire and a character gets a stick with sausage or marshmallow to roast it over said fire?
openArtistic Licence
I was wondering if there is a separate trope from Artistic Licence when the work contains an error because the character in question is just plain wrong and others either do not know or think it is too trivial too correct them rather than the author getting it wrong.
openTrope page with Rubrix cube bra
I don't remember the contents of this trope (it might have been something about having a difficult time removing a bra) but the page image was of a bra that had a Rubrix cube instead of a strap.
openPersonality Profession
The kind of personalities you can expect from someone with a certain profession, like Personality Powers.
Do we have it?
openCustomizable Windows
A common sci-fi trope where a building's windows (or walls) can be set to display various vistas or mood themes.
openYou wanna win? You can have it.
This comes from the ending of Fat Choi Spirit.
After a Mahjong tournament, the protagonist, Andy, and his nemesis, Sean, held a rematch. In the rematch, Andy nonchalantly forfeits the tournament prize and his title to Sean before he even reveals his hand.
As it turns out, the hand he assembled was one of the highest scoring hands in the game, if not THE highest, and could've easily allowed him to win the re-match. This act greatly humbles Sean to the point that he starts calling Andy his "shifu".
Essentially, I Let You Win because Victory Is Boring.

A young, inexperienced character kisses a pillow, their hand, etc in order to practice kissing.
openAlmost Psychic Emotional Connection
Is there a trope for relationships where one or more of the participants can actually feel when the other is in pain/danger/etc.? I'm not talking about supernatural examples, because they're not actually supposed to have powers—it's apparently just a result of their closeness. As such, when I say they can "feel" when the other is in pain/danger/etc., I mean they know.

I looked over Abuse Tropes and couldn't find one. Do we have a trope for killing your abuser?
openIs there a trope for actors supporting shipping of their characters?
With how it's really easy now for actors to know about fanworks, a lot of them are discovering shipping and what popular pairings are floating around. Some actors are jokey about their support of this while others are serious and some just don't want to really discuss it, since it weirds them out a bit or makes them uncomfortable to think of costars in such a way.
Basically, is there a Shipper on Deck trope but with the real life people supporting fictional romance?
Edited by AkibaPurpleopenSelf-washing with underwear
I was just curious/wondering, is there a trope where a character bathes/showers with their underwear still on?
openStupid for confessing
Character A has done something seriously against custom or law (killing someone by accident, poisoning someone...) and confesses - it doesn't even occur to them they could just keep quiet or lie, not even to claim self-defence. Character B, for one, is angered and disappointed/disgusted, but not because of the deed itself. Oh no. It's because Character A was "so stupid they didn't even think of talking their way out of the situation."

Do we have a trope for when a racist ends up falling in love with someone that they're normally racist towards, leading them to become a Former Bigot?
