Would removing "The irony of this entire statement is that the Pokemon fanbase has wanted an open-world, Breath of the Wild style game for quite some time" work? Everything preceding that seems like it would be fine. But the quoted section isn't relevant.

If anything, just lock all pages on upcoming Pokemon games after the Sword/Shield debacle. I don't think we need that here.

28th Feb, 2021 01:27:46 PM

Sounds like a good idea to me, honestly

28th Feb, 2021 01:35:00 PM

Locking doesn't actually resolve the issue, which is whether or not the perspn's trope entry is valid.

If It Suck's entries on prerelease works aren't allowed, then it should be cut, THEN locked until release.

Removing it is a good call. But unless a lock is made to prevent further attempts to add NREP-restricted YMMV items too ahead of time, the best we can do is to add a commented-out disclaimer to advise tropers not to put said items as long as the game's in development.

I agree with removing it. I get the feeling that whoever added this would have added it (or at least the second sentence) under Hypocritical Fandom if that hadn't been cut for being Flame Bait.

4th Mar, 2021 01:44:42 AM

This was added back citing "I adjusted it to remove the sarcastic portion; it should be conflict free now".

The above two entries as it sounds like the main issue is it's misused prerelease as fundamentally a level of complaining and knee-jerk we want to avoid. I'm not even sure the net reaction was negative enough to warrant Tainted by the Preview. Should it be straight up cut?

Was it the same person as this would be an Edit War.

4th Mar, 2021 02:48:49 AM

^ It was the same person.

4th Mar, 2021 02:26:44 PM

So should the entry be re-cut? I'll remove it unless I hear anything.

5th Mar, 2021 02:06:13 AM

^No, this should be reported to the mods since it's an Edit War. If you removed it the previous time, then you'd also be edit warring.

I'd rather we not do this, but I support a lock out of an abundance of caution - a lot of Nintendo fans are still riled up from Dexit and have gone septic as a result.

5th Mar, 2021 02:54:19 AM

^I'm fine with that. Maybe YMMV.Pokemon Diamond And Pearl should be locked as well, since it also came up recently.

I'm not seeing enough to lock this subpage, and since the user appeared to recognize that they might be in Edit War territory, I sent them a PM to this query. Please continue to discuss.

5th Mar, 2021 11:14:12 AM

So should the entry be moved to Tainted by the Preview? It seems the more fitting trope.

5th Mar, 2021 01:48:24 PM

^ Yes. Move the entry there.

5th Mar, 2021 02:38:35 PM

^ Moved the entry. This was also on the page before being cut as needing 1 week since the work releases.

  • Win Back the Crowd: For all but the most hardcore complainers, the reception to Legends: Arceus has been absolutely astounding, causing even people who were doubting the future of Pokémon to state that Pokémon as a franchise is saved by the introduction of this game alone.

Would this be a valid example of Win the Crowd? Is it mutually exclusive with Tainted by the Preview and if so which one should we put?

6th Mar, 2021 02:12:32 AM

Please don't use a query about one example to discuss another example. It is confusing and encourages people to derail.
