The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
If it's something pretty simple, like a magic sword that swings a little more accurately or is more deadly against certain targets, then Magic Enhancement.
If you have a specific enchantment in mind, there may be a more specific trope for it, such as Flaming Sword if the magic sword lights on fire during battle.
This one lights up and seeks to destroy evil (it kind of has a mind).
Is it a Living Weapon or Empathic Weapon?
Edited by TabsCool Sword is the big Super-Trope here. Kind of goes beyond just "Magic Sword", but it's the broadest. Legendary Weapon might apply depending on the example, and Power Glows definitely would. Living Weapon if it definitely has a mind of its own. Empathic Weapon or Weapon of X-Slaying could probably cover cases where it can detect evil, though some kind of "Weapon of X-Detection" trope might garner enough examples to stand on its own (subtrope of Canary in a Coal Mine, sister trope of Evil-Detecting Dog), if we don't have it.
Some of those seem to fit, thanks.
Edited by FirebloodThis Index Has Magic Properties (aka Magic Items)- the concept is meaninglessly broad on its own, the tropes kick in for more specific aspects.
The sword, for instance:
- Cool Sword for swords being one of the stock choices for magic weapons
- Power Glows - it lights up
- Weapon of X-Slaying - in this case evil-slaying
- Empathic Weapon for "kind of has a mind". Weapon Wields You and Talking Weapon might kick in depending on how chatty and proactive it is.
Might also look at tropes like Weapon Of Choice, Good Weapon, Evil Weapon, and Improbable Weapon User for the implications that go along with a magic hook axe vs a magic morning star vs a magic boomerang.
I've been unable to find a trope on this. Specifically I'm thinking about an enchanted sword, but the weapon could be anything really. Do we actually just not have a trope for magical weapons? I find that odd if so.
