Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
If they're trying to argue that they don't know what the forums are, that's at odds with their forum history. They at the very least know what they are even if they don't know the word "forum". Though on said forums I've also had a similar issue with them and their posts on the NRLEP thread, where they have a consistent pattern of misunderstanding the rules (such as how it took several attempts to get them to understand when a section should be brought up).
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI was just about to say (before I moved off this page to check their history) the same thing as War Jay; they were suspended for edit warring back in November, so the fact that they can't recognize that they will be in one if they add it back is concerning.
Did you happen to let them know that they would be edit warring if they add it back?
My Fanfiction.net Page My DeviantArt PageYes, and they basically stormed off and told me they would be merciful in not adding the entry back, and that I was bullying a user who just wanted to share their opinions, at no point acknowledging the reason why the entry was not kosher in the first place despite me explaining it to them multiple times,
They told me it was not upon them to know how to use every function of a website, even though being able to identify the forums seems like such a basic skill as to be a no-brainer (and moreover they seem to be actively lying about their ignorance given that they have knowingly posted in the forums multiple times).
Edited by AlleyOopWhat they're doing is outside the boundaries of YMMV. Not every YMMV entry is widely held or accepted by a fandom, but inserting entries that reflect only one's own personal opinions and trying to pass them off as an entire fandom's point of view is against the rules. Deleting YMMV entries that are only based on one fan's point of view is not the same thing as bullying people for having a different opinion.
FWIW, independent from all the Xenoblade stuff, going through the history of Trans Audience Interpretation indicates cwallace135 also made a weird edit to the description that later got reworked. Kind of seems like they've got a history with unilateral behavior towards that particular trope in general.
What would be the best course of action against Cwallace in this case, especially because they apparently believe that YMMV pages are to be used for putting forward their own opinions?
Edited by OmegaPC777 "How could you stop an idea?" (Check out my troper wall if you can!)They go by they/them, they readily stated that their own gender issues and their projection onto the characters as well as the possibility of converting others who read the entries so that the headcanon becomes popular in the future is their main motive for adding them. Fine as an personal opinion and conversation piece, but not what YMMV pages are for.
Does "putting ones own headcanons/opinions in YMMV pages with the intent of making them more popular" count as agenda-based editing?
Edited by Excessive-Menace THE GOLDEN AGE WILL RETURN AGAIN!Audience Reaction pages are supposed to be descriptive and semi-objective in nature, so we discourage Fan Myopia and Opinion Myopia-type entries. At least this poster is honest that they are troping their singular opinion and discussing a hypothetical as opposed to dishonestly presenting that opinion as widespread, but that doesn't make it not poor troping etiquette, especially considering the text of the entry was written in such a way that it openly violates policy against Speculative Troping. To paraphrase, it was written as "Morag might be transmasculine because [...]", when it should be written as "many in the fandom interpret Morag as transmasculine because [...]".
I don't know if it counts as that specific violation, but the Hindsight cleanup thread regularly deals with purging examples that are examples of the above myopia, unless editors can make a case that the humor/harsh/heartwarming reaction to said situation is something that is held by a noticeable number of fans, and an opinion being demonstrably popular in the wild can overrule myopia infractions. Which I haven't seen to be the case for transmasculine Morag or Sena.
Edited by AlleyOopIf anything, it feels like they kinda have a Single-Issue Wonk on trying to shoehorn in their headcanons/opinions in the YMMV pages. Headcanons are basically opinions in the end, and not everyone shares the same headcanon, even if they can be agreed on between fans.
Cwallace 135 was also brought up for putting square pegs in round tropes(edit: it's the same thread Alley Oop posted in the OP). They've refused to see reason in that thread, and posted the same argument in a forum. Only thing that surprises me is that they aren't writing about Noah again.
Don't know why they're lying about something that can easily be checked, though.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
Hello, recently I made an edit to the Trans Audience Interpretation Video Game subpage that deleted an entry calling Morag and Sena trans men on the basis that the entries were clearly written from the perspective of a single editor's theoretical interpretation that was not particularly commonplace among the fandom, which I later replaced with an entry talking about the fan interpretation of Morag as a trans woman, which is an extremely popular headcanon in the fandom. Admittedly that particular entry has been subject to some controversy from actual transphobes in the past, but I felt that as an LGBT person in the fandom, I could try to improve it to be a more accurate reflection of the fandom's opinions rather than just erase it altogether.
Cwallace 135 then PM'd me accusing me of vandalizing the page for removing it, while admitting that the entries were personal headcanons of theirs and not ones held by the rest of the fandom, and that they were hoping for the theory to become popular one day if they shared it, and believing that the purpose of the YMMV page is to share personal opinions with other fans and hopefully persuade them to it. I then explained to them that Audience Reaction pages are not for posting your own personal interpretation but for chronicling popular or significant opinions from the fanbase and that it was misuse. I also told them that if they so desperately want to post it, they can use the WMG or Review pages or share it on the forums, but their response to me was that they don't know what a forum is or how to find it, and that I can't do anything to stop them from putting the entry back on the page if they so desire, which would constitute an Edit War.
It should be noted that Cwallace 135 already has a very problematic editing history on this site involving a lot of shoehorning, low-quality trope entries, and flagrant misuse for the sake of promoting a work, as well as spam and failure to understand basic site etiquette, which combined with the previous admission, does not make me think they are editing in the best of faith.
Edit: They just messaged me that they have already been suspended in the past for a previous etiquette violation, and what's more, it seems like they have posted on the forums in the Edit Suspended thread, so either they are lying about not knowing what a forum is, or their command of English is so poor that they still don't know what basic site functionality is even after using it.
