Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

I think the 'recap or standalone works page' question is one for the ComicBook namespace thread. I‘ll also leave a comment there to link this ATT.
Either way, I guess the same question applies - do we add the character/comic/franchise prefix? I'd vote yes.
In an ideal world where moving pages was super easy I would like for them to have the prefix (it also serves as an easy disambiguation, see ComicBook. The Childrens Crusade for an instance where having that "Avengers:" prefix helped), but at the same time these are also acceptable titles on their own. I consider moving them to give the prefix appropriate but 'low priority' moves.
Re: DOFP: the comic can keep it, the film would need to be moved as an adaptation.
Agreed that they're low priority - that steer might also help to avoid more being created that way, though. Thanks!
I honestly prefer straight names. Adding prefixes that aren't there would make things more difficult to link to throughout the site. While the indexing would be nicer with the prefix, I doubt most people are going to use them wile linking to the pages.
Also I was the one who migrated over the children's crusade page, and the reason I moved it because that was the official name. So I would prefer official titles versus using prefixes just to clean up the index. I do agree that the indexing would be much nicer with them though.
It's gonna be fun on the bun!In the case of Days of Future Past, the title of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is already used by the film that's a loose adaptation of that story arc, and that would cause the two pages to overlap.
This is the same thing with the Star Wars franchise, every film and games such as Knights of the Old Republic and The Force Unleashed, omit the franchise name when it's prevalent on the cover.
Your receipt. You can keep the freakin' change.I don't think there's ever going to be a perfect answer. With the Star Wars examples, I think some of the names are also distinctive and associated with the franchise, if that makes a difference.
It's the stuff like Go Down Swinging that seems oddly disconnected.
And if the general works page steer is to use the official name of the work, shouldn't using the full name be our first choice?
Edited by Mrph1I think that the comic book index should be updated to remove all non official comics book e.g. one more day. That should be indexed under it’s run. See The Amazing Spider-Man (Nick Spencer). Arcs are indexed under that page. For non-crossover arcs, they should only be indexed under there runs and on the franchise page.
The only things that should be on the main comic indexes should or official released comics. That might make things easier.
It's gonna be fun on the bun!On that point, I completely agree - lists of “Comic Book Series" should be exactly that (plus one-shots and original graphic novels, I guess)
In my opinion, pages in Main such as Marvel Comics Series and Comic Books of the 2020s (for example) shouldn't contain arcs or creator specific runs if the page scope is defined by series. And shouldn't contain character pages/debuts, for that matter.

As I understand it, works pages should reflect the (or at least an) official title of the work in question.
In the ComicBook namespace, we have quite a few pages for arcs within a single series (or Bat Family Crossover events officially badged under a single series/character title) that only use the subtitle and not the series/character title.
So, for example -
...you get the idea. I don't think there are many disambiguation concerns with the current names, if any. But we're inconsistent on this and many, many ComicBook pages have included the series title or character name as a prefix to the arc/event name.
It seems odd that we're editing down the names to remove the character/comic/franchise element when there are no character-limit issues, and when that's not the version that the publisher's officially using.
(It also increases the number of oddities in alphabetical indexes - e.g. tropers put One More Day and Go Down Swinging under S, because they know they're Spider-Man stories, but unless you're looking at the index page itself the structure and ** / *** bullets aren't visible)
So, subject to discussion on the relevant pages and elsewhere, is it worth a tidy up that attempts to move them?
(One note on this: due to the film of the same name, we'd probably need to add a year to X-Men: Days of Future Past to disambig if we do move it - but that's the exception)
