Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
The edit reason is suspect. The OBC cleanup thread were discussing this too and said the same thing.
Might be a good idea to check cerealking's other edits to see if similar edits about Depp have been made.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup Of Complaining | Troper WallChecked their edit history. I don’t see anything unusual other than that one edit.
Trans rights are human rights!^ Good. I was worried about a possible agenda, so I'm glad we can rule that out.
Maybe try sending them a PM telling them to come to this discussion?
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup Of Complaining | Troper WallQuestion: How would I word this? This may sound like a stupid question but I’m actually being serious here.
Trans rights are human rights!Just send them a link to this discussion asking them to participate.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Sent them a PM with a link to this thread. Hopefully they respond soon.
Trans rights are human rights!Hey, I don’t have anything against Heard. I’m saying all that stuff against her like that she didn’t donate to charity isn’t actually true and is his PR stuff. She agreed to give them the money over ten years. Plus it’s not true that this has hurt her career. She’s still in Aquaman that just wrapped. Also that audio that is supposedly her admitting to it is manipulatively edited to take out him slamming her foot in the door. That’s what she’s talking about in context.
Edited by cerealkingThen I ask you this: why didn't you just state that in your edit reason?
I feel like this is the type of thing that I would highly recommend including sources to back up your claim.
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsOvershadowed by Controversy is a trivia, not a trope. So "wind up on the receiving end of this trope" is just plain wrong.
Edited by Kuruni^^^^ audasious is right. You could have avoided all of this trouble if you just fully explained your reasoning instead of just "Depp PR crap".
Also, you should have at least used some sources to justify your claim. Amber Heard's page is already locked due to people posting misinformation about her.
Edited by YuriHaru567 Trans rights are human rights! For what it's worth, the Daily Mail is a suspect source in the first place (since that example seems to cite it by name).
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerOkay, let's look at it this way: let's ignore for now whether the claims are legitimate or not, did this situation cause her to become a controversial figure? Based on the fact that her page had to be locked, I'd say so.
Honestly, I'm just baffled this trope even allows real life examples.
I'd like to apologize for all this.^ Because it's trivia and, with exception of In-Universe example, is about how people associate the subject with controversy.
Edited by Kuruni^ Shouldn't Trivia items like that be invalid because creators can't be troped, only their work?
I'd like to apologize for all this.I thought trivia tropes about a creator should be posted on the creator pages, since they are technically In-Universe in the case of the person’s career.
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.OBC isn't Trivia, it's YMMV. You might be thinking of Role-Ending Misdemeanor.
And I agree that the main point is that "She was a popular respected actress who is now overshadowed by the abuse allegations she made against Depp and the abuse allegations he made against her, as they both started a ton of controversy." No matter who's right, she and Depp have both been massively overshadowed here.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.^ Oop. You're right.
So, should the example be added back in?
Trans rights are human rights! In my opinion yes. It's not about if they're valid but if they overshadow the actor's reputation and in this case they absolutely do.
It should, yes.
I'd like to apologize for all this.Yes.
Edited by ImperialMajestyXODone.
Also to rectify my OP, I believe the troper may have something against Depp, not Heard. Apologies.
Edited by YuriHaru567 Trans rights are human rights!Could you remove the aforementioned part. Entries aren't supposed to refer to each other like that
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."All done. My bad.
Trans rights are human rights!I'd wager it still needs something of a rewrite, it comes across as as pretty biased against her/pro-Depp and again, cites the Daily Mail as anything but a hateful rag full of lies.
Like, I do think she deserves an entry but the entry as-written is pretty poor.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Let's make something very simple:
- Amber Heard's career was overshadowed in the late 2010s when she first accused ex-husband Johnny Depp of domestic abuse, then was accused by Depp of physically abusing him, with recorded conversations of her physically threatening him leaked to the tabloids. This led to a massive controversy about who was to blame in this dispute, and any discussion of Heard's acting will inevitably attract debates about her alleged abuse.
Done.
Trans rights are human rights!
On the Real Life section of Overshadowed by Controversy, cerealking made this edit to that section.
They explained it as “Depp PR crap”, but I believe that it should be added back in.
I really don’t want to start an edit war, so if anyone else can give me any advice, I would appreciate it.
